[ROM]EUViewpad7 v1.7b (Updatev1.7b.zip for v1.7 users only) - Viewsonic ViewPad 7 & Variants

ROM Name: EUViewpad 7
Based on: Stock EU firmware (froyo 2.2.2) for Viewpad 7
This build is for Viewsonic Viewpad 7 and similar devices.
Because none of the other custom roms I could find for this device included my native language as a display option I decided to build my own custom firmware using the stock firmware. I've applied the best fixes I could find in other custom roms for this device and also included some of my own.
Version 1.5
Replaces android 2.2 with android 2.2.2. Some minor tweaks to the framework are added and some small issues are fixed (youtube green bar.)
Since some people still seem to have problems with wifi, mostly due to old settings still maintained after flashing a new rom. I added a small script that removes /misc2/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf on first boot which should solve it for most people.
Version 1.6
Fixes the market incompatibility found in V1.5. Reverted back to the older market which doesn't have this problem and removed the market updater. Due to an error in the build.prop the stagefright player was being disabled. That has been fixed so quadrant scores should return to normal. s2k7 has provided a non overclocked kernel with init.d support, based on that I've provided an ITE version. This version is exactly the same as the non-ITE version, except for the alternate boot.img. I have not tested this as I do not have a device with ITE hardware.
Version 1.7
- More languages (French, Italian, Spanish, Asian)
- Cleaned up /system to create more free space for file manipulation.
- Updated Apps with new icons for ic_menus.
- updated framework-res.apk with new images and styles
- updated Flash Player to 10.2
Version 1.7b
- Added languages Chinese and Taiwanese (I guess from country strings, can't read it)
- Updated framework-res.apk with black on white menu (instead of white on black) to match the theme.
- Updated browser.apk with new menu icons. Most people will probably install another browser, but I like the stock one, it's very small and light.

skink123 for creating Cleanviewpad v1.0 and the opening post that goes with it
Darktremor for his Apps2d
tjstyle for his overclocked kernel
googlehome for his work on Cleanviewpad 1.1
s2k7 for the ITE kernel with init.d support
Without the work these people have done on custom roms for this device I wouldn't have known where to start and this wouldn't have been possible.

Additional Instructions
Returning to stock firmware:
To return to a stock firmware, you need to use the SUT L3 software to flash original firmware. Here is a small guide and the necessary software.
Flashing to this firmware before installing an EUVviewpad rom seems to fix the wifi problems some people have.
1. Download SUT L3 v1.7.9
2. Download the following rom:
- Download Firmware 3420
3. Unzip the files you downloaded
4. Install SUT L3 on windows
5. Start SUT L3 and click next
6. Check in the bottom left corner if you see the message: A phone is connected (if it is not, you need to install the correct drivers. You can do this by running setup.exe from the virtual CD of the viewpad)
7. Select the rom you downloaded and click next.
8. Your viewpad should now reboot into clockwork recovery and after a few seconds switch to download mode and start flashing the new firmware. This will take a few minutes after which the phone will reboot and start to the stock os.
After this you can choose to root it with SuperOneclick, install cwrecovery and any custom rom.
Installing Touchpal keyboard:
In Version 1.7 Touchpal keyboard has been removed. Here's how to reinstall it:
1. Download this zip: Touchpal.zip
2. Extract the zip to a folder on your sdcard. (for example /sdcard/touchpal
3. Browse to the folder using ES File explorer on the viewpad
4. Install Touchpal_M20.apk and any language packs you want.
5. Go to Settings > Language & Keyboard and activate Touchpal.
6. Long press any text input field and select Input Method
7 From the list, select touchpal.

<reserved space for future updates>

Seems that I didnt test the wifi drivers included in the v1.0 release as well as I thought. While i have no problems with finding and connecting to my AP I can't get a proper internet connection for some reason.
I've reverted the rom back to the Stock EU 2.2 wifi drivers (have no problems with those) and updated the OP with the v1.1 version. Please use V1.1 and only try V1.0 if you have problems with your wifi. I will look into this some more.
My current wishlist of things I plan (hope) to do with this rom:
- Integrate V6 Supercharger script with best settings for Viewpad7 to improve memory performance.
- Install a nice battery icon (Battery Icon Mod?)
- create a new notification bar (i'm thinking transparent or shaded)
- change the default background
- tweak, tweak, tweak.
It would be nice to eventually set up a Custom ROM kitchen for this device, but for now i'll focus on improving this rom.

Original TouchPAL_M20 is still in the rom, I've remove some of the language packs for it to save space, but I can allways add those back in on request.

Good idea! I didn't even know what an APN list was till you mentioned it, but ill try to find the most complete one around and add that to the next version.
By New Market, do you mean the most recent version of the market app preinstalled ? Because this one should just update automagically and work fine, but it wouldn't be to much work to add the most recent one to the rom.

I'm looking into the wifi problem.
Can people with wifi problems on my rom please start up in rtm mode (press volume down and power) and give me HWver and SWver of their device ?

Bravo, excellent to see someone working on a customized Froyo ROM optimized for our "cute" tablet - spouse's been playing Angry Birds on it and until I can get it NAND and Titanium backed up this weekend when she's asleep, I won't get my hands on it to flash this one.
Just curious whether this ROM support the newer Touchscreen or ITE hardware (I'm assuming that it will since it's based on OS 2.2.2 just like ours for the North America regions.) Please advise before I give this a full run with a full wipe & install. BTW, it connect to our 2 wifi routers just fine (1 in g mode-WEP and 1 n mode-WPA2.)
RTM & related info (as shipped)
SWVer 3.41
FM6-0001
HWVer 107
VPAD7 - 2.2.2
2.6.32.9
1008_3.350
FM6-316R (3/22/11)
SUTL3 V1.6.5 (and 1.7.9)
The custom (Froyo Enhanced) non-overclocked ROM I'm running now is based on Froyo 2.2.1 and ITE compatible - Baseband PR3.7_125, Kernel Apps_2.6.32.9 and Build 1008_3_240
Suggestions for the next update -
Status Bar - Interface tweaks by adding Power Widgets (easier to turn on/off wifi, orientation, bluetooth, volume, brightness, airplane mode, etc.)
Also, I changed from stock to ADW Launched, downloaded easily from the "new" Market and installed with Astro FM - as I can lock down the Homescreens so that other "borrowing" & playing with it won't accidently move or delete my desktop icons, etc. etc.
Google Maps V5.9 has been out (and has many useful additions & support for tablets) and so far, it's been reported as relatively stable & NOT prone to FC or reboot, unlike earlier 5.x releases - so it's probably worth the update from the stock 4.5 ?? version as shipped.
I've managed to move some apps & data to the 16GB mSD card but definitely having App2SD or similar will free up internal phone storage space so that I can load more Apps onto it.

Hello,
This looks interesting. I only want to overclock and then restore to my present line-up of apps and will be installing mainly to get the overclocked kernel.
Q: Can I skip the whole 2sd process and not partition when installing this? Great and important feature, but no way to back-up my SD right now so would like to skip that and just benefit from the oc kernel. Or will that not work?
Also, could you please clarify what exactly the difference is from CleanViewpad. Does CleanV also have overclocked kernel?
Thanks!

I think that the main differences are that this has more European languages than CleanViewPad as well as the newest version of Darktremor's Apps 2 SD script. I'm pretty sure that this ROM will function even though you have no ext3 partition on your microSD as the apps are still able to be installed on the internal memory and are - if I remember correctly - installed there by default.

This rom is based on OS 2.2, not 2.2.2 and it's using tjstyle's overclocked kernel, which does not support ITE hardware.
My own viewpad 7 on which i'm developing this rom is SWVer: 3.16R (earliest i've seen so far) and it seems that people with newer versions are suffering from the wifi problem.
I'm going to have to do some more research and experiment a little, but it would help me a lot if someone could provide me with a CWM backup of the stock firmware of the newer devices. rooted or modded doesn't matter, as long as it's still stock firmware and not a custom rom.

Yeah, I tried installing Cleanpad and am using it right now, no problem skipping those steps there so...
So by installing this ROM I get more Euro languages and a newest version of Apps2SD? Excuse me, but I can get the latest version of it on CleanViewpad, it's descriped in its thread here. So unless I want a custom ROM with a Euro language, other than English, French and German, which are included in CleanViewpad, there's no point installing this?

Yes, I believe that's pretty much it sø far, but Amalgation have more things cooking for this ROM and is active in this subforum.

I've started this build mainly for support of the EU languages in this firmware, and I haven't done much else except integrate the best fixes (imo) I could find. I'm working on creating my own framework mod and improved memory management among other things, but it's a work in progress and for now I try to focus on getting this rom to work for as many people as possible.
So for now, if you're not interested in the EU languages, this might not be the rom for you.

Yep, you're right, and that's good, and so are the languages for whoever might need them.
I'm happy with CleanViewpad as it's problem-free and not too ugly, and basically just overclocked CPU and Apps2SD support. Which is all I'm looking for.
But I'm gonna stay tuned here. Nice that others appreciate this device!

Quick VPAD7 user's partial guide to custom roms & ITE compatibility

Here's a quick info-guide to currently available custom rooted ROMS for the VPAD7 in the U.S. market, including one's that are compatible with newer ITE hardware - if you have the N700, A800, etc. this might not be apply (as there are posts & questions here from newer members on a relatively new sub-forum) *** (also, the Viewsonic 10" pads/tabs/etc. are NOT the same = SEARCH first, please ....)
Hopefully, this will help some of you plan your projects while backing up your original ROM - I actually tested them all quickly over 2 days using ClockWorkMod 3.0.2.8 (updated from CWM 2.5.1.2 that most are using here, I believe) by Googlehome.
Froyo Enhanced (non OC version only) OS 2.2.1 - Baseband 3.7_125, Kernel 2.6.32.9 and Build 1008_3_240 (and it can boot up & rotate in portrait mode) ITE hardware is supported & once installed, boot up to Android setup screen to be activated, skip setup, etc. - ready to go.) Remember to wipe clean system/data/cache, etc. before flashing - save your CWM backup to your computer and/or alternative mSD/usb drives first.
TJ_Style's FM6 ROM - OS 2.2.2 - Baseband 3.7_125, Kernel 2.6.32.9 and Build 5029_3_310 (OC verison does NOT work with ITE) - need a little bit of work, to flash the stock kernel (boot.img) provided in the download links. Or, you can also use the one saved in your Recovery (CWM under Advanced Recovery - restore this immediately after flashing this ROM & before rebooting & starting up the 1st. time) It is very important to do a Backup of your entire ROM first in case something isn't done right - better yet, do a test run to make sure that you can restore properly before experimenting .... it will save time, etc. (updated footnote - it's best to use the "updated.zip with wifi fix in TJ's link http://www.megaupload.com/?d=B2DB3VAO and the 2.2.2 boot.img http://www.megaupload.com/?d=DGHF1HY3 linked in the original thread also worked for me, for those of you without your saved original boot.img)
EU V1.7 and 1.7b w. ITE boot.img (and init.D support) by Amalgation - this will work with newer ITE hardware. Please check your device & developer's log w. instructions to download the correct zip file. WiFi connectivity issues fixed (with MAC address n/a & unable to scan/turning off) - flash it first and, if necessary, then reflash EUv1.7/b version as applicable, and WiFi should work (as least for me) - as always, wipe/clear dalvik, cache & system clean first, reboot & then flash the zip file ---- please, BACKUP as precaution & S.O.P.
The following custom ROMS, based on my actual tests & flashing, including efforts to patch/update boot.img, etc. could NOT get my VPAD7 with ITE to boot past the Android screen & continue to initial setup, etc.
CVPAD7 V1.0 (Cleanviewpad)
Flint V1.0 (did restore from own boot.img & get some screen response, but it's not a functioning ROM, so ....)
Wellcom A800 "stock" firmware (didn't work as flashed - could try the patch boot.img ?? once rooted, I commented on original linked post ....)
As for restoring your device to stock/factory state (if case you've "accidentally bricked it) the Viewsonic site has several *.nbo file to restore (flash by using SUTL provided via your PC) - then you need to root it again using the SuperOneClick or GingerBreak apk methods, etc. But, only one file will work with ITE devices, as far as I know - FM6 3350_0_1008_A01.nb0 & just released recently, all others are for non-ITE VPAD7's.
Comments, sugestions & questions, additions to this working "guide" in progress are welcomed & appreciated - since we got a XDA users from around the world, let's share our wisdom & knowledge. This VPAD7 is one of the few, if any, 7" tablet with both wifi & GSM/3G features, the CPU is slow by today's standard & the "X" model with faster processor is being released, so the user bases will continue to grow - waiting for our expert resident developers to cook up Gingerbread since Honeycomb is most likely out of the question for obvious reasons .... Thanks & have a nice day !
For Reference: my VPAD7 was using Froyo 2.2.2 (stock, rooted & striped of certain non-critical apps via Titanium Backup) 2.6.32.9 and Build 1008_3_350, SW Ver 3.41, FM6-001 and HWVer 107. Code M & Production Date 3/24/2011. Using ADW Launcher 1.3.6 Standalone, App2SD Free (V2.32) from AZSoft Technology . (all downloaded via Google Market (updated to 3.1.3 with apk) plus "WidgetSoid" to easily shutdown, reboot & get into Recovery.
For Car Home, the linked files can be installed to work with Vpad7 - it will allow for screen to stay on, important when using Navigation (Maps) and other Car Applications - as in most Android smartphones - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=796439 - use Astro or ES File Explorer to install the apps. Enjoy!
Thanks for the info, I have tried the custom roms as well, but could not get any to boot past the initial "tap android to start" thing, there was no screen response at all. Thing is I have hwver 106 which I was under the assumption was non ITE. I think we need to create a post that can be stickied containing all relevent info, ie the roms available (which you have covered), the differecnces in hwvers etc,

Hmmm, so yours being v106 has ITE too, okay - try flashing TJ_Style's ROM & "patched" it with one's original saved boot.img as suggested. It works for me running v107 ITE. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1093440&page=10 or use this posted in original thread - http://www.megaupload.com/?d=DGHF1HY3 (which I tested to work on mine with ITE hardware)

Folks - please be sure to credit & thank these ROM's developers that made it possible for us to enjoy, I'm just trying to compile or put info together in one spot, so that we do not have to start new threads all over, again & again.
When possible, try NOT to use PM so that what we all learn can be shared in the open by everyone else, but if necessary & appropriate, contacts via PM are okay.
Chances are most of you know it already - but, for a few tablet newcomers posting newbie questions for help - I'm using the following Apps from Market and find these to be useful to get more "fun" out of the Vpad7 series - as always, do a CWM and Titanium Backup before hand (and, on a regular basis) just in case something go wrong - you can easily recover & NOT lose your important data, settings & files. Tips - use a spare 4GB mSD card to experiment & flash, do a full setup once you got it "right" when flashing new ROMs.
1. App2SD (by Sam Lu or AZSoft Technology) free up device's internal storage space/memory - 50 Apps installed & 30 MB available.
2. VTL.Launcher - easy to use in portrait (vertical) mode as the V prefer landscape, but some Apps look better otherwise & enough screen displayed w. keyboard popped up.
3. WidgetSoid - up to 10 customized wideget, easy accessible from one of the (Main) screen, i.e. WiFi on/off, Mobile data on/off, Brightness, Screen ON, Airplane Mode, Reboot (option for Recovery, Hot Reboot, etc. instead of just Power Off only)
4. Fancy Widgets v3.4.1 (Android Does) for Clock & Weather
5. MultiLing keyboard (plugins for many languages/fonts & numerous customization - including Asian languages)
6. Using Maps 5.2 which I find to be stable (latest is 5.10) and Google Market rolled back to 2.x (latest 3.15 is too big in file size) - otherwise, device will run low in space ....
Have fun with it - 2 newer screenshots to share with what I've done to mine, just imagine the possibilities
Hi Letitride,
I am using TJ_Style's FM6 ROM with the original boot.img as i have a newer VPad, the problem i have is i cant move any apps to the sd card, from what i read it has something to do with init.d in the boot image?
Is there a way i can change this to get app2sd to work?
Thanks for all the info.

My suggestions, it's easiest to "experiment" with a 2nd. mSD card, 4GB will do to try & setup App2SD with a 1MB partition - once it's working, you can use your regular mSD card, 8GB would be my minimum, and I'm beginning to run below 50% with a faster 16GB mSD card (keep in mind the Vpad7 support 32GB)
Okay, are you using DT's App2SD which I believe only work with overclocked kernel and init.d - devices with ITE multi-touch capacitative screen (newer OS 2.2.2 / possibly some with 2.2 - HWVer 107 or 106) - DT's Apps will NOT work (I'm not sure if you flash that FM6 ROM as is, or did you use your own saved IMG or also flash the 2.2.2 boot image ??)
Another option is to use a different App2SD from Google Market, I'm personally using App2SD ver 2.33 (1214) from AZSoft Technology - and, I have over 35 Apps on the mSD card including my Angry Birds for fun, Moon+ Reader, TB, Astro & Translate, etc. That still leave about 20 non-movable Apps with the internal ROM/storage - just 30MB free out of 171.5 MB - but lot better than initial setup, since mine is loaded with Google Voice, FaceBook, Gmail, YouTube, Twitter, etc.) *** Same App2SD running with GingerBread is much more efficient, leaving my HTC smartphone with over 90MB free space - Froyo just isn't as "cooperative" or getting along with efforts to move things over to free up extra space. Not endorsing the above Apps, please check & try out different ones from GM and decide for yourself ....
Others might have suggestions, please feel free to comment & share what's working - hope this is helpful to you.
Cheers & let's have FUN !
Footnote - postscript, a new EU V1.6 ROM has been posted with ITE support, you might want to try it since it has init.D support - and should work (Caution: except possible WiFi issues,) or, use the newest V1.6 (regular customized) ROM - you will need to prepare & reformat the SD card first, so please BACKUP your data, etc. etc. Good Luck !

It's simple, turn off your device. Hold down the left Volume button key on top while pressing the Power button on the left, it should boot up in FTM Mode and display your Hardware & Software Verisons and Build info. To exit, use a small pin to gently push in the Reset button on the lower edge, the smallest & closet to the side.
Most likely, yours did NOT came with ITE - you will know once you flash one of the custom ROM & you cannot go past the Android activation screen & the screen does not respond.
Thanks! That works!
SWVer=3.16R
Model: FM6-001
HWVer: 106
I have no ITE HW. The Costum ROM works great.
What is the difference between the normal and ITE HW?
CM9 port
Hey guys,
Does anyone know if it's possible to port CM9 to the VPAD7, 107 w/ ITE?
Also, does it have an ARMv11 or ARMv6 processor?
I saw on one site that it's v6 but ViewSonic's product page says v11 in the Specs (see link below)
http://www.viewsonic.com/products/vpad7.htm
I'm very new to Android Development but I'm looking at getting involved to update this tablet from Froyo. I could probably live without HW accel and/or camera/camcorder functionality if everything else were to be possible.
I'm looking to follow this guide:

[ROM] MIUI for Galaxy S II *Discontinued because of official support*

MIUI
This ROM is a continuation of bmarko’s work, which can be found here, he stopped with developing but his base remains. The weekly updates as brought by miuiandroid.com will be ported to bmarko’s base and released here.
Installation instructions when coming from another ROM:
Download the latest release from the downloads section and put it on your internal storage.
Boot into CWM, do this by powering off your phone and hold volume up and the home button while booting again.
Select "wipe data/factory reset" and confirm.
Select "wipe cache partition" and confirm.
Now go to "mounts and storage" select "format /system" and confirm.
Finally go to "advanced" select "wipe Dalvik Cache" and confirm.
Now select "install zip from sd card", "choose zip from sd card", browse to your zip select it and confirm.
Finally "reboot system now" and you’re finished.

1.9.23 http://www.multiupload.com/8BVQ6VCOC6
 Other bugs:
If you are experiencing a bug that is not on this list perform a full wipe and flash the ROM again, if you don’t know how to do this; just follow the coming from another ROM instructions. When the problem persists after a flash try to determine what can be causing it. Try to find out if certain apps trigger the problem and if it’s there immediately after a reboot. Then you can post your problem with as much details as possible, wait a day before posting your problem again.
Note:
Doing a full wipe causes a loss of data, there are three ways to back up your data. Every option has its benefits, read all three options and decide which one suits your needs.
1. A Nandroid backup, you can do this from CWM under back up and restore. This will create a complete system image, this is mostly used when switching ROM and you want to be able to switch back easily. When you restore this backup everything will be exactly the same as when you backed up, all bugs included.
2. MIUI built in backup, this is mostly used when staying within MIUI. All your settings, apps and contacts will be conserved, except for your mail settings and account passwords, for security reasons. When you restore this you only have to enter your credentials and server settings again, system files are not backed up, so bugs will be gone. Only downside is that only MIUI can restore this, so you can't export it to another ROM.
3. Titanium backup comes in handy when migrating to another ROM. Titanium can back up settings, apps and their data. Titanium backup works on all ROM's so you can back up, flash another ROM and restore your apps and their data. Settings are harder to back up, restoring settings is possible between TouchWiz ROM's, moving them from TouchWiz ROM to MIUI or Cyanogen will give loads of FC's. Same goes for system apps and their data.

Q:How do I install this ROM?
A:Start off with a rooted phone.
Download and pust the ROM .zip file to the sdcard.
Reboot into recovery.
When installing for the first time wipe /system, /cache, /data and dalvik-cache
Wipe /system. (under mounts & storage)
Install the ROM zip from sdcard.
Q:The new version is released on miuiandroid.com, where is the Galaxy S II download link?
A:Our device is not yet officially supported, therefore bmarko has to download the official release, do his magic, and release it for the S II. He does not only have to wait until it’s released by miuiandroid.com but afterwards also has to find time to modify and upload the new version. This takes some time, but normally he uploads within two, maybe three, days.
Q:When will the next release be, and when will you fix this?
A:There is only one rule in this thread:
DON’T ASK FOR ETA’S
For clarity’s sake: ETA means estimated time of arrival.
Q:Is OTA updating working?
A:No, because it’s not yet an official release. Trying it should give an error message, or may download a release for another phone. I would suggest not using it at all.
Q:There is a new version released, and I have to wipe /system, what does that mean and what will I lose?
A:/system is the folder that contains all system files, when upgrading all system files are replaced so all old files have to be deleted. But all your personal files are in the /data folder. That means that you don't lose anything personal when upgrading, all your apps will be kept too. Certain mods, such as extended settings and my gps.conf files are in system though, so you'll have to reinstall them again.
Q:I prefer MIUI in: Chinese - German - English - Spanish - Vietnamese - Italian - Hebrew - Russian -Hungarian
- Dutch - Portugese - Danish - Turkish - Polish - Koeran - French - Greek - Czech - Slovenian.
A:L10nH34Rt has ported El Afortunado's multi-language pack.
There is being worked on updates...
1.9.9
1.9.2
1.8.26
Make sure to boot once before flashing the .zips.
Credits to both L10nH34Rt and El Afortunado.

Q:When will the next release be, and when will you fix this?
A:There is only one rule in this thread:
DON’T ASK FOR ETA’S
For clarity’s sake: ETA means estimated time of arrival.
Q:When will Bluetooth audio be fixed? I really need it!
A:Above applies more than anything to Bluetooth Audio.
Q:I got an inexplicable bug, and the guys in the thread told me to do a complete wipe, what is this? And what will I lose?
A:A complete wipe consists of a wipe of /system /data /cache and dalvik-cache. This means that everything, except for the internal storage, is deleted. If you want to easily restore your contacts, settings and apps you will have to backup your phone. There are three common ways to do this:
1. A Nandroid backup, you can do this from CWM under back up and restore. This will create a complete system image, this is mostly used when switching ROM and you want to be able to switch back easily. When you restore this backup everything will be exactly the same as when you backed up, all bugs included.
2. MIUI built in backup, this is mostly used when you have to wipe your phone because of a bug.
Q:The back light of the soft key goes on and off, seemingly random, what can I do about this?
A:I've created a mod that permanently disables the softkey's backlight, regardless of light sensor and backlight intensity. It's a script in init.d so you can easily remove it by removing the file from /system/etc/init.d.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/27703769/Permanently Disable Softkey Backlight.zip
The script locks the backlight intensity at boot, which is normally 0. But when you have BLN enabled and there is a notification on boot it will lock the backlight when it's on. When this happens a reboot after the notification is gone will fix the problem.
This is another solution, main drawback is that you have to enable Automatic Brightness for it to work.
The soft keys respond to the automatic brightness. This is not a bug, but a feature. You can regulate this by going to display settings -> automatic brightess -> advanced options. Enable the use custom levels, and set the values for soft keys. Set all levels on 255 for always on, or all on 0 for always off.
Q:My GPS takes ages to acquire a lock, and/or is far from accurate.
A:Unless you are living in North America this is because the ntp server is set to North America. Changing this in the gps server settings doesn’t work, so you’ll have to directly edit the gps.conf file which is situated in /system/etc. But to make it easier for y’all I created CWM flashable .zips. You’ll have to flash these after every update, simply because /system and all its subfolders are wiped on update. The .zips are found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1233256
If your country isn’t on the list there is no ntp server hosted in your country, in that case use the zip of the closest country.
Q:The audio through my headphones won’t go any louder after four clicks.
A:This also is a known bug, there is a fix. But it’s both unwieldy and temporary. Type the following into a terminal emulator.
Code:
$ su
# /system/bin/alsa_amixer sset Headphone 31
31 is the max headphone volume, if you want to change the volume choose any value betwoon 0 ( completely silent ) and 31 ( the loudest ). But when choosing the volume rocker it ignores this setting. So you'll have to enter it manually everytime you want to change the volume.
Q:I can't access my internal storage through USB.
A:Make sure USB Debugging is activated. Enable it by going to settings -> applications -> development -> enable USB Debugging.
Q:When I reboot my phone data is turned off automatically.
A:This is a known bug, for now: just flip the data toggle in the toggles dropdown menu.
Q:No matter what the size is, the market tells me the file needs to be downloaded over wifi.
A:Open the downloads app from the launcher, and turn download using wifi off. When connected with wifi it will still download over wifi, so don’t fear for your data bundle.
Q:My phone doesn't go into deep sleep.
A:This is a bug in the Battery Monitor, the phone actually does go into deep sleep, but it isn't noticed by the battery monitor. You can check this using CPU Spy:

Q:I can't play music from my external SD card.
Q:Make sure the folder on your external SD card is being searched by MIUI Music. Go to Music -> Settings -> Filter by Folder -> *Tick the required folders*
Q:I don’t like the MIUI camera app, what are the alternatives?
A:There are a few replacements on the market. Most used is lgCamera (https://market.android.com/details?id=rubberbigpepper.lgCamera). There also is being worked on a port of the Samsung camera app:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1239045
Q:Video play is out of sync, or stutters.
A:There are two viable alternatives; RockPlayer (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.redirectin.rockplayer.android.unified.lite), and MX Video Player (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.mxtech.videoplayer.ad) with the ARMv7 codec (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.mxtech.ffmpeg.v7_vfpv3d16). I prefer the latter, mainly because of its interface.

This is a new version, I have edited files inside the camera.apk to make it film again. Download it from the link in the first post of this thread.
Going to flash this now. Already on the Italian build but with the tweaks It'd be silly for me to not get on this one now
Also lifted from the last few posts of Galnet thread: http://www.galnetmiui.co.uk/landing...n-for-battery-drain-problems.?highlight=drain
no idea if this is of any use or if its needed or whatever...
Thanks for the videofix Gangsterjoop... and starting a new thread, *subscribes*

Notices:
DROPPING SUPPORT FOR THIS GUIDE
It has been a whole year since Miui announced that they would be suspending official support for the Vibrant, and nothing has changed. On October 22, 2012 I announced in a notice (which can be found below) that I would be no longer updating this guide "as of the moment". However, I would like it to be known that it is now more like 'as of forever'. Please, if you wish to get the latest ROM(s) for your phone you should head check out my Vibrant Bible thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1982728. This guide is now depreciated.

SAD NEWS MY FELLOW MIUI FANS...
Sadly Miui is no longer supporting the Samsung Vibrant. That means no more Gingerbread updates nor will there be any official Miui v4 coming our way. It's rather disappointing, however if you wish, you can still find a download for Miui.us's Gingerbread v2.3.30 rom (last official Miui rom released for the Vibrant) in step 5 of the guide below. If you have a craving for some Miui v4 love, there is a port by 360° Productions that can be found here or here. As of the moment, this guide will no longer be updated...

FLASHING THE MIUI ROM (EASILY)
In this guide I will show you how to revert to stock (2.1 Eclair), flash CWR (by flashing the Overstock Kernel via ODIN), then flash MIUI. The process may seems long in word format but once you have done it a few times it's a very quick process... Now to the detailed instructions...

Click to collapse
1. BACKUP (OPTIONAL)
(If rooted) Backup All Apps + Data with Titanium Backup, but try to avoid restoring system apps as they are typically to blame for bugs.
(If not rooted) Backup your apps with AppBrain. I have never used this app personally. However, from what I hear it is an excellent app for backing up apps for non-root users.
Backup your contacts (I suggest backing it to the SD Card)
Use "SMS Backup +" for saving/restoring text messages
(If rooted) Do a Nandroid Backup in CWR
As a precaution you may back up all the contents of the SD card to your PC. However, this isn't necessary
To do a completely clean install you can reformat you SD card by going into the Menu > Settings and unmount and format both internal and external SD cards. Just make sure you made a backup of important documents and files before reformatting.
2. FLASH BACK TO STOCK (2.1 Eclair)
First, download the files and program below:
ODIN (MD5: E012B512C1579C3AF7A38A27FD905B86)
PIT FILE (MD5: 1D927B36D2FA807A22E64FC86B445130)
TAR FILE (MD5: 632730F6B637F53E5B10E5CBC8B966A7)
After downloading it is suggested you use hashtab to verify the MD5.
After that move the files to your desktop.
3. DOWNLOAD MODE
NOTE - Do not remove the USB cable from the phone while ODIN is running as this may cause your phone to brick. If you removed the USB to early and now your phone is presenting you with a "Phone.. ! ..Computer" image when booting then go down to the "More Information" section in this guide for the fix.
Open ODIN on your computer
Plug in the USB Cable to the computer
Remove the battery from the phone.
Plug USB into Phone
Hold down BOTH volume buttons and while holding both, insert the battery.
Two to three seconds later your phone will be in Download Mode.
*Again, do not remove connection while ODIN is running.*
4. ODIN
Go back to ODIN on your PC. There should be a yellow box under ID COM, saying something like COM 5. If not try downloading and installing these Samsung Drivers.
Click the PIT button and select the PIT file from desktop
Click the PDA button and select the TAR file from desktop
Re-partition is checked!
Click Start. Unless ODIN hangs, you should see a progress bar start soon after. The process takes a few minutes and you told ODIN to reboot once done so when your phone boots up, you are on stock JFD.
5. DOWNLOAD THE MIUI ROM
Click here to get MIUI v2.3.30 from MIUI.us for the Vibrant.
If you want something with a little more pizzazz then stock MIUI check out some of 360° Production's variants:
Lithium
Prime
SGSII
Once downloaded use hashtab to verify the MD5. Then place the file on your internal SD card, the one that is 12GB and should have a folder called "DCIM."
You do not need to rename the ROM.
6. GET CWR
Download the file below:
Overstock Kernel
Once downloaded move it to the desktop, then load ODIN
Repeat step 3 to get into Download Mode
In ODIN Un-check Re-Partition and Auto Reboot (F. Reset Time should be checked)
Click the PDA button and select the Overstock Kernel from the desktop
Click start. Once it has finished (passed) remove the USB cable from the phone and do a battery pull
7. FLASH THE MIUI ROM
Hold both volume buttons and power. Release power once the Vibrant logo is up.
In CWR: Do a Wipe Data/Factory Reset, Wipe Cache Partition, & Wipe Dalvik Cache (advanced menu)
Go to “install zip from sd card”, select zip from sd... Go and find the MIUI ROM you put on the sd card and flash it.
It should start flashing and then enter a bootloop (Vibrant [Splash Screen] > Galaxy S Cyanogen(MOD) > CWR > Repeat). After it does this loop a few times do a battery pull.
Reboot into recovery, which will now be blue (Hold both volume buttons and power. Release power once the Vibrant logo is up).
Go to “install zip from sd card”, select zip from sd... Go and find the MIUI ROM you put on the sd card and flash it again.
This time it should successively install.
Go to "advanced", and select "Fix Permissions". Once it has finished fixing permissions go down and hit "++Go Back++"
Reboot your device.
Do not touch the phone for 5-10 minutes after it has booted... Do Absolutely Nothing! This helps clear any possible bugs.
8. RESTORE (OPTIONAL)
After going through the MIUI setup menu and have come to the home screen you're going to want to restore. (If you flashed the Lithium, Prime, or SGSII MIUI variants then you are first going to want to go into your "Themes" app and Re-apply the theme marked "Current".) Now, to restore you are going to go to the Market, Sign-in, Approve terms, Re-install Titanium Backup and/or AppBrain. Restore all Missing Apps+Data. I highly suggest you do not restore any system apps. After that restore anything else you have. (i.e. text messages) and reboot again.
ENJOY YOUR NEW ROM!

WHAT ABOUT IF THERE IS AN UPDATE TO MIUI?
Updating MIUI is easy. Simply open the Updater app located in the Tools folder in the home screen and it will find the latest update of MIUI for you and install it. It will also automatically check the MD5 for you. I do suggest you use Wi-Fi when updating however, as it will make the upgrading process much faster.
Also, there is an update for MIUI every Friday at 5pm unless it's a holiday.
RECONDITION YOUR BATTERY:
AFTER FLASHING IF YOU FIND THAT YOU HAVE BAD BATTERY LIFE TRY ONE OF THE METHODS BELOW TO FIX:
Method One:
Use phone till it dies on its own, completely dead.
Charge phone completely, plus 30 minutes longer.
Unplug phone from charger
Reconnect, you'll notice it's not full, charge till it is again.
This is bump charging and NOT something you want to do often, a few times is okay, in my opinion. You could skip the bump charge if you like.
Phone remains plugged in.
Boot into recovery (volumes + power)
Advanced > wipe battery stats, reboot.
Use phone till it's literally about to shut off (or does) Charge till full + Use phone like normal
OR
Method Two:
Download the Battery Calibration app by NeMa from the Android Market
GET EXTENDED SETTINGS (Even More Customization):
If you want an even more custom experience then MIUI already offers check out the "MIUI Control Panel" app. It allows you to remove AM/PM from the status bar, add effects to your phone's overscroll and more! All within an easy to use interface!
"SOFT" BRICKED WHILE USING ODIN?

If you are getting a "Phone.. ! ..Computer" image (seen above) when booting phone, yes, you are bricked but it is reversible! Just follow these steps...
Make sure you have ODIN OPEN with admin privileges!
1.) Take off your back cover, remove your sim & mirco sd card.
2.) Remove your battery.
Make sure you have the USB plugged into your PC but NOT your phone!
3.) Hold the volume buttons.
4.) Put the battery in.
5.) Put the USB in.
You don't necessarily need the download mode image to be present. As long as you are getting the COM ID to light up yellow in ODIN, just flash back to stock like normal.
GET AN APP DRAWER:
Check out xuso's ALTDRAWER app! It's a great resolution to MIUI's lack of an app drawer.
GET LONGER BATTERY LIFE:
Gingerbread Rom's in general are notorious for causing battery drain. However, with a couple of tweaks and an understanding of what drains our batteries you can get great battery life, even on MIUI! Check out this awesome battery saving guide made by Woodrube! It has everything you'll need to get more out of your device! Plus you can find my setup for the Glitch kernel in it (which saves me a lot of battery).
Note: Juice Defender + Glitch Kernel =

GET GREAT *FREE* ROOT APPS:
Check out my guide/list (found here) for some great free apps that will get the most out of your rooted device.
Front Facing Camera (FFC) Support:
If you have modded your Vibrant to have a FFC and wish to use it while running MIUI check out this thread to get help getting your FFC mod running.
MIUI TIPS & TRICKS:
1. Long press on the icon in Toggles to launch the settings for that icon.
When you pull down the notification bar, you will see the Toggle settings for plenty of options (such as WIFI, volume, backlight etc). Long press on any icon in the Toggle mode will launch the setting for that icon.
2. Built-in Screen Capture function
Press the “Menu” key and “Volume Down” key at the same time to capture a screenshot. The image is saved in the MIUI/ directory in the sd card.
3. Slide from left to right to quickly delete a message or a call log.

FAQ:
-I'M NOT ROOTED AFTER FLASHING MIUI!
This is a common issue for people new to MIUI. The solution is to open the Superuser app that is normally in a folder called "tools", click the options soft key, click the setting button, and turn "ROOT permission" to ON.
-AFTER RESTORING SOME OF MY APPS THAT REQUIRE ROOT AREN'T WORKING!
This issue happened to me after restoring with MIUI's built in restore/backup app. My Wireless Tether and Titanium Backup apps kept claiming I wasn't rooted, while SetCPU worked fine. To fix this issue simply uninstall the non-working apps and re-install the app from the original source (i.e. Android Market) or restore it without data.
-I CAN'T DOWNLOAD FROM THE ANDROID MARKET, INSUFFICIENT STORAGE?!
This is what worked for me and hopefully it will also work for you too...
1). Boot into recovery
2). Enter the "Advanced" menu
3). Select "Wipe Dalvik Cache"
4). Reboot
Still having the issue? Check out this thread.
-MY PHONE WON'T CHARGE OVER 97%!
Try re-calibrating the battery. See the above section marked "RECONDITION YOUR BATTERY".
-"Move to External SD" popup?!
Here is the solution, use root explorer and move entire contents from "data/sdcard" to "sdcard"
Also delete "07internalsd" file from /system/etc/init.d
Custom Kernels/Modems/Themes for MIUI
MIUI COMPATIBLE KERNELS
To install custom MIUI kernels follow these steps:

4.) Flash one of the MIUI compatible kernels from below
5.) Reboot
Some kernels have the Kernel Cleaning Script already integrated making steps 1-3 not necessary. Read the overveiw of the kernel you've selected to flash to decide if the instructions above apply to you.

If this guide helped you, please thank and credit to s15274n!
I do not take full credit for this guide. Credit also goes to s15274n as there is some information in this guide that is straight from his guide. So if this guide has helped you do not only thank me but also thank s15274n!
Also, if you found this guide of any help please don't forget to hit the "thanks" button!
haha, thanks for checking with me and the credit... I was a little surprised at just how closely this resembled by guide (and are those my files on sourceforge?)... but regardless, anything to help the community, I applaud you for helping people out... definitely no issue using my guide/links man.
In fact, I would applaud others to try and be this helpful.
Thanks! And yeah I know it's pretty similar, although it isn't completely finished and the guide will probably be changed over time. The custom kernels, modems, and themes section isn't finished either so that's an addition that should make this guide a bit better/helpful.
Sent from my SGH-T959 (Samsung Vibrant)
So community, give me your input... What do you think? Is the guide any good? Missing something?
Thanks both of you. I've just thanked all the posts that i can on this thread.
I don't exactly need this, but the new people do. People want something new to try, but their afraid if they flash miui, will they brick their phones because they don't know what to do? Those questions people's curiosity back. These kinds of threads make it possible for people who don't know how to do it to be able to enjoy something new, a fresh rom that they've never seen.
thanks again guys.
Thanks for your positive input it, really means a lot

Not really sure anyone is actually reading this guide to notice, but I've updated the MIUI COMPATIBLE KERNELS, MIUI COMPATIBLE MODEMS, and MIUI THEMES sections. If you know of any other modems or kernels not shown that are compatible with MIUI please tell me and I will add them to the list. Also, if there's a well made MIUI theme you think should be added to the list tell me and I will add it to the list also.
Nice write up!

You're welcome.
OK, the guide has been updated to include how to bypass the bootloop.
Backup your EFS folder also, better safe than sorry.
Awesome wish this guide was available a few weeks ago when I had flashed MiUi!
Also, not that there is a real threat with MiUi messing up the EFS folder but I think it might be wise to include instructions for backing up the /efs and nv_data.bin, imei etc. Better safe than sorry.

Actually MIUI automatically backs up the efs, imei, and nv_data.bin. Just look for the "backup" folder on the internal sd card.
i am new to this rom...coming from CM7
wat i did was basically flashing MIUI stock on top of CM7 without ODIN back to JFD. not too sure what will be the consequences in doing so but so far im running fine except for the phone at times not able to detect my external sd card (micro SD)
i am saving up this post for future use as well. donwloaded all the file too just in case my phone goes bonker.
thanks a lot cos ur post help me to understand MIUI rom better!
Keeps on FC!
Why does it keep on FC?! It was fine until I restored all my apps+data. I didn't click system apps. So I don't know why it keeps FC on me.
Is it ok if we skip steps? Like if we already rooted it can we just go to the flashing part or do we have to flash back to stock and do the ODIN thing and everything?
Can someone please help me? Thank you!
^ best to odin to JFD when changing from one rom to another. Clean is always better. Especially if you are talking about FC's.
For those talking about the EFS backup, CM7 automagically does this on flash. I would assume MIUI does as well, but maybe it does not. If it doesn't, it should.
@Lurker!
Whenever flashing a new ROM you should use Odin to return to stock. If you don't return to stock your previous ROM may conflict with the newly flashed ROM and cause issues like FC's, data issues, etc... Also, *none* of the steps should be skipped in the guide, especially steps 2-7.
@s15274n
By the way you are correct, MIUI automatically backs up the efs. I just went looking around my internal sd card and found a folder called "backups" containing a backup of the efs. Thanks for pointing that out.

ICE CREAM SANDWICH GUIDE AND NEW FEATURES OF SAMSUNG OFFICIAL ICS AND ROM QUESTIONS
Hey guys. With the new Ics roms there are brand new ways to do things that are very different from gingerbread.
How do I take a screenshot in ICS?
This is one new feature of ICS. Hold down the power button and volume down button.
Can I still slide my finger across the status bar to change brightness?
Yes.
Where is usb debugging and unknown sources?
The usb debugging is now in developer options in the settings menu. Unknown sources lies in security options in the settings menu.
How do I activate face unlock?
Go to settings then security and select screen lock. There you will find face unlock along with 4 other options.
How come when I hold the home button I get this menu instead of the last 6 apps I use?
Google made a better way to multi task in Ics so now everything you used is shown. You can swipe right or left to kill an app.
How do I copy and paste?
Hold down on the screen and move the arrows to what you want to copy and press the piece of paper at the top right of the screen.
How do I activate mass storage, all that shows up when I plug in the computer is mtp?
Once again this is a new feature of ics. To get mass storage go to settings then click more then usb utilities and click usb storage.
How come when I click on phone I no longer see the contact tab in the menu. I only see phone, log, and favorites???
This was done by Google to help stay organized and provide a clean experience to users.
How come with all ICS roms my facebook photos don't sync and how can I fix them?
Well you got me there. For some reason the photos don't sync natively on ICS. I think its a way by google to boost users of google plus. This is easily fixable by using an app called sync my pics or by using friendcaster from the play store?
How come I can't log into my email on any ICS rom?
You can just disable push notifications.
PRIDE ROM QUESTIONS
Can I flash the add ons in the second post on top of one another?
Yes you can for most. Its a pretty cool feature.
Why is this rom so bloated?
This is 100 percent stock samsung rom so all samsung apps will remain. I believe in a system where the user has the option to customize any rom the way they want. That includes keeping the apps they deem worthy and removing the ones they hate. I use a great deal of samsung apps such as the music hub, social hub, and more. They are really truly innovative apps that show off the power of our phones and gives pleasure that ATT can't provide.
How can I debloat myself?
Download Titanium Backup from the market and remove whatever app you want?
I'm downloading now to give it a shot. Rapidshare is crazy slow, so it may take a while for me to report back. Thanks for sharing!

Did a full wipe/cache/dalvik and installed with no probs. Setup wifi and Goggle and upon unlocking the screen, "Unfortunately, TwLauncher has stopped". Same thing after reboot.
[EDIT] Doing another wipe of cache and dalvik and reinstalling.
Now I'm getting a 'Android is upgrading/optimizing x of 137' message as the OS is loading. Bah, same error upon screen unlock.

Same here. Got through entire set up process and touchwiz wouldn't start. Clearing caches didn't correct the problem, nor did reinstalling. Back to AOKP for me. I'll try again when problems are fixed.
That's weird. Touchwiz stopped? I didn't do anything related to touchwiz. Hang on ill fix it

Good deal. I'll try it first thing in the morning. Way past my Zzz time as it is.
I might have removed an app or something but right now I can't see it. I'm going to get a quick nap in and then I'll just post the build without removing apps.

Custom ROM GB.XXKPH.WT-0.4.0
This is a rework of my previous ROM using a new EU stock ROM (XXKPH). The biggest change from my previous ROM is the installation. I am now using the AROMA installer that has been popping up in many different Android phones. It turns our that the AROMA installer works pretty well with Galaxy Player. It will open up more options for ROM developers in packaging their ROM.

Prerequisites
You have a Galaxy Player 5.0 International or US (YP-G70).
For US device, you need to have Entropy's kernel. You can get the kernel in this thread.
For international device, you need to have rumirand's kernel. You can get the kernel in this thread.
Your internal SD card has more than 200M bytes free.
Installation Instructions
Copy the zip package you downloaded from the link above to your internal sd card.
Turn off your device.
Boot your device into recovery mode by pressing Vol Up+Home+Power. You can release your buttons once you see the Samsung logo.
In main menu, use "wipe data/factory reset" clean up your data directory.
In advanced menu and do a "Wipe Dalvik Cache".
In main menu, select "install zip from sdcard".
Then select "choose zip from internal sdcard".
Pick the zip file you put on the internal sdcard.
Select "Yes" to start the flashing.
Now the AROMA installer will start. Follow the installation steps shown.
At the end of the installation, press 'Finish' and you will go back CWM Recovery.
DO NOT WIPE data after the installation! Otherwise you will wipe out apps installed in the data partition!
If it is a success, go back to main menu and select "reboot system now".
Installation Instructions for Mods
Install the base ROM first using the instructions as shown above.
Install the additional mod using "install zip from sdcard" in CWM.
No need to do data wipe after the installation.
If you want to revert to the base ROM, flash the uninstaller (if available).

Information for ROM users
Device ID Hack - I have made quite a lot of changes to the device id hack. The phone parameters are now moved from "rom-settings" on sdcard to "/data/property" which is a much more standard way to handle properties. Another important feature is the "WT ROM Tweaker" app. The app gives you the ability to change phone parameters like network operator, SIM card serial no. and etc.
Below are some other Network Operators that you can try
Network Operator/ Network Operator Name/Network Country ISO
----------------------------------------------------------------
310260 T-Mobile us
310004 Verizon us
302720 Rogers ca
22802 sunrise ch
22801 swisscom ch
22803 orange ch
26207 o2 - de de
26203 simyo de
22201 Telstra au
23203 T-Mobile at
20416 T-Mobile nl
27203 Meteor ie
45419 PCCW hk
Using Whatsapp - Whatsapp is still not showing up on market therefore I have included the apk in the ROM. With the device ID hack, the Whatsapp can be run on Galaxy Player. After accepting the Whatsapp's agreement, you will be asked for a phone number. You need to enter a REAL phone number for the verification to work. It will try to send a sms to your phone number for verification. But of course the sms verification will fail because the phone number does not belong to the Galaxy Player. After a few minutes, Whatsapp will present you with another option by calling your phone number. You will receive a call from Whatsapp playing back the verification code to you. You can then use the code to register Whatsapp. Now you are set. However, this registration is tied to the IMEI generated by the device id hack. Therefore DO NOT delete the "rom-settings" folder under your sdcard. Otherwise you need to do it all over again when a new IMEI is generated.
13 status bar toggle buttons - To use the toggles, slide down the notification and you can slide the buttons left and right. Pressing the button will toggle the item. Long press the button will bring you to the setting. You can also use the include Quick Setting app to enable and reorder these buttons.
Installation Log - If you experience installation issues, you can save the installation log at the last step of your installation. It should be located at the same folder as your ROM zip.
Information for Developers
Going to test this right now. Sounds awesome!
EDIT: Tried this ROM. It is very smooth, I like it a LOT. However, I'm having some trouble. I can't seem to pick an optional launcher. It doesn't work; it just brings me to the regular TouchWiz 3.0 interface. :L Otherwise, this ROM is great.
This looks great on paper. Gonna try it now and report back later.
Thank you for the effort!
EDIT: The installation went well, but I can't turn on WiFi and Bluetooth. When I try to turn WiFi, it only says "Error".
I have an US version of the SGP 5.0

Can you provide more information on the steps you did? Also the TW 4.5 looks very similar to 4.5.

I tried it flashing the ROM from the internal SD card as noted on the instructions.
On the Aroma installer I picked the Stock SGP Boot animation, Touchwiz 4.5 and the Device ID hack.
Once it was completed, I went back to CWM and I rebooted the device.
Everything went well, until I tried to turn WiFi on, then Bluetooth.
After that I tried flashing the ROM from the external SD Card.
I then picked the Stock SGP Boot animation, Default Launcher and the Device ID hack. Same results.
I will keep trying with different configurations.
I hope it helps. Thank you again for this new option.

That's odd. Can you capture the installation log at the last step of the installation? You should see a button for saving the log.
On my device, wifi and bluetooth seems to be working correctly. One possibility is that there are some files that are leftover from previous ROM in /system. In addition to full data wipe, you can try mounting /system and format it under "mounts and storage" in CWM. This will ensure everything got wiped.

I will provide you with log, but tomorrow, sleepy time here.
And yes, everytime I flash a new ROM, I do wipe everything, including Dalvik's, and I never had any problems.
Let's hope tomorrow more users will try this ROM on a US device and see if they too have the same issues as me.

Yes. It is based on 2.3.6 XXKPH EU ROM.
Oh, I love AROMA Installer~ THX
@WT Ho,
I tried the ROM and selected Go Launcher the next time, and still gave me TW Launcher 3.0. It didn't even install Go Launcher. Also, the Play Store worked for me on Stock ROM. WiFi might have problems with this ROM, but I'll try it again from Stock ROM and give results.
I tried many configurations.
I was not able to reproduce the WiFi problem not turning on, same for Bluetooth.
When I choose to install the Device ID hack is when problems arise. I can connect to wifi but I can't log in to my Google account or my Amazon app store app account.
I choose different launchers and boot animations but I get no problems.

Yes. Actually I can reproduce the Google log in problem when Device ID hack is selected. This is because the hack requires a directory "rom-settings" on the internal sdcard (i.e. /sdcard/rom-settings). You can manually create that folder on the sdcard.
I will upload a patched release that will create that folder automatically.

I wonder if you have done a data wipe AFTER installing the ROM? If you do that, you will wipe all the apps that are stored on /data including the launcher you installed.
If that's not what happen, I have to look at your installation log, which can be saved at the last step of the installation.
Just uploaded a patch release V0.2.1. That should solve the Google login problem.
Bad news, I've tried 3 times already, with and without the Device ID hack, but it goes no further than the Samsung Logo.
