What ROM allows for the pressing down of volume buttons to skip songs? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I've flashed three different ROMs: Cognition, CM7, and Sensation by Crysis
However, none of those Roms offer skipping of songs with volume rocker. Do you guys know of a ROM that allows me to do that?
Thanks!

CM7 does.
Hold down the vol up or down and it will skip to next or previous track.

Hmm, shoot, I will try CM7 again. Is it a function I must enable in the settings? I tried it when I flashed CM7, but when I held it down, it just increased the volume.
Thank you Steve. Does it only work with the stock music app that comes with CM7, or will it work on Poweramp as well?

As far as I am aware its enabled by default in the default music player.
I've just checked and the screen needs to be off for it to work. Not tried poweramp sorry.
Hope this helps

Increasing volume while in call

Don't know if anyone else has this issue, but when I'm on a call I can't increase/decrease the volume unless I pull the phone away from my face and the screen comes back on from the sensor. If I press the volume buttons with it on my face the volume doesn't change.

Which ROM are you running? I know that UnNamed has this happen as a side effect from using the volume buttons for skipping songs.

If it's another ROM, not too sure.

If you root and flash most ROM for the x2 come with DSP Manager which increases volume and had some great customizable settings. DSP MANAGER is built into the ROM's

I use Volume+ It works pretty good on CM7DX2. You will have to uninstall DSPManager for Volume+ to work properly, though.
Free version: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...1bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5GUkVFLmFuZHJvaWQubHZoIl0.
But I recommend the full version, it's only $1.99: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...1bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5URVNULmFuZHJvaWQubHZoIl0.
Ciao!
Try the App Equalizer
I was having troubles with the volume at work. I downloaded the app "Equalizer" and it seem to help in my case. Basically an equalizer with different presets and/or you could make your own.
hope it helps in your case

This is a link to a post containing the Wake on Volume mod that is flashable thru CWM. It uses the volume rocker to wake the phone. Good luck!

Im not on cm9 atm but have you checked settings for that feature?
maybe im getting mixed up with aokp. :s
Haven't been on CM9 for awhile, but I thought there was a Wake on Volume setting on the "display settings" area, or somewhere closeby.
I'm using cm9.
under setting - display, checked the "volume rocker wake", you are able to use the volume bottom to wake up atrix.

app named NoLock does this but it simply cancels the screenlock so when a call is received you might answer it accidentally. a widget that will have its own locker, canceling the default lock will do it for you (widgetlocker maybe)
What about one for AOKP? I can't find the volume rocker wake up on AOKP.
"Widgetlocker" or "No lock" on the market both have the volume button to wake feature.
I use No Lock, works great since I don't care for the lock screen anyway.

[Q] Headset inline control - kernel support

Hey,
Can someone who has a headphones that have the inline volume and play/pause buttons working, tell me which kernel / rom they are running?
I actually had this working on my device and flashed a new rom (CM9) and now it's not working! Any insight?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Anyone? Just need someone to check if the play/pause button on their headphones is able to control the music. If so, just let me know what Kernel and Rom you're using.
Thanks.
The rom and kernel is in my signsture lol. It works for mine.

Thanks for helping out! I guess they haven't released that combo for the 5.0 player, though. :/
Using the headphones that came with my player (which include a pause button) I've been able to pause music in the default player for CM9 and Paranoid Android (a CM10 derivative).
Currently I'm running paranoid android with the pre-apollo music player from CM9 and have reliable pause/play support.
Previously I'd tried using musik-brand headphones that had both inline volume and pause/play buttons neither of which worked with my player.

Hey, that's helpful. Maybe the problem is not my device or kernel or rom, but my headset itself. I'm going to try some difference headsets at Best Buy today.
Thanks.

[Q] Low Volume Issues

I recently installed Cyanogen mod 11 on my Droid DNA.
Overall I'm loving the look and feel of Cyanogen mod, but I'm running in to some minor issues with maximum volume. For some reason the max volume for the speakers is now much quieter than it was before.
I've tried various solutions, one of which is here, I found the file they talk about but I have no "Speaker" section, just many variations.
Has anyone else had this issue? Does anybody know how I could force the max volume to be louder out of my speakers? I'm using YouTube videos as a reference.
I am running it and don't have this issue. Is your speaker partially blown or anything. Is there any physical damage on the phone.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Nope, no damage to the phone. And when I revert to the stock ROM the sound is perfectly fine.
That's strange. Maybe I'm just not used to it. I haven't noticed.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Yeah with me it was a big difference, I might try going through the sound config file on my phone and upping all the volumes by a few percent to see if that helps.

Thanks for the help.

Yeah I believe I was accidentally using a nightly instead of a snapshot.
However a couple days after I fixed this issue CM updated to a newer snapshot, and the sound is broken again. Do you think I should report this as a bug? Or just wait for the newest update?

If you did a clean install and it's on a snapshot you can report a bug. But if you didn't do a clean install do that first and then if it's still there report the bug.
Please press the thanks button if I have helped you in anyway.

It says all bug reports require a logcat, should I just run some sound apps then include the logcat?
Where's the thanks button?
Natural Log Sound Output decay
I recently installed "Dna Official Stock Kitkat - Rooted" for HTC Droid DNA by "santod040"
All sound files... alarms, ringtones, streaming start out fine then drop volume speaker output to near nothing

I flushed and am trying cm-10.2.1-dlx.zip to test speaker output; might give vipor rom a try as well
The handset is S-OFF, ROOTED, & CWM touch 6.0.4.5, with "Dna Official Stock Kitkat - Rooted" 4.4.2; Yes, sound was fine before the OTA notice came through prompting using santod040 packages.
Much Thanks to all lead to the lite..
viper4android Disables LPA
The only time I had ever had an issue was flashing a nightly dirty. I managed to recover the audio by installing viper4android.apk. The newer versions of V4A automatically detects if LPA (low powered audio) is enabled. It will give you an option to disable it, just tick that yes please button. Usually LPA only affects things like bluetooth audio so it wouldn't drain the battery as fast, but I know with previous CM versions they had a bluetooth audio issue. Most likely completely unrelated but there might have been a WIP that caused things to be construed. If another rom version works then i'd recommend just installing a stable release.
REMEMBER ~ you are able if you run stable :good:
This actually worked for me!
I downloaded Viper For Android, installed the updated drivers it recommended, then turned on "eXtra-Loud" for the phone speaker.
Audio is now just as loud as before.
Where's the thanks button? So that I can give you thanks.

Just wanted to pipe in with something that may be others source of low volume issues. I have had low volume on my stock Droid DNA for quite some time and really beat my head against the wall trying to figure it out. Turns out it was very simple for me but not terribly obvious. Get your phone out and look at the speaker grill (just below the Beats Audio logo on the back). Does it look a bit clogged? Mine was completely clogged (I don't use a case). I took out a toothbrush I use just for cleaning and cleared it up and my audio is nice and loud now. Just wanted to pass on this simple fix to try so others would see it.
Viper has been abandoned; what's a good ROM now?
