[Q] Solution for wireless issues? - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have been having Wifi connectivity issues for some time. Basically, I can use wifi about 4 times before it just stops working.
I get the message "Error" in the settings. The message was "Unable to start Wifi" in Android 2.1.
I've tried SEUS, I'm tried resets, wipes, re-installs, and nothing. I'm not an expert when it comes to seriously technical phone settings but here's some info. I think that maybe my settings are corrupted. From the service menu:
Wifi State: Unknown
Network State: Unknown
Supplicant: Uninitialized
RSSI:-200
Hidden SSID: False
IPaddr: 0.0.0.0
MAC addr: (Blank)
Network ID: -1
Link SPeed: -1 mbps
Scan Results: (blank)
After running ping test
PingIPAddr: Fail - not reachable
Ping Hostname: Fail
HTTP client: Fail: IOException
Also, when I try to go into "Wifi API" and hit "getConfiguredNetworks" nothing happens.

have u rooted ur phone or installed any custom Roms ??

No I haven't, its stock except that it is unlocked. Maybe rooting it will let me take control of things such as these?

Help! Data Broken - Alltel - Cannot Connect for Unknown Reason - DCD & Stock Rom!

Hello Everyone!
Firstly I would like to say thank you for the amazing input you put into this site - I have gone *very* far on the path to learning about my PPC 6800 just from reading past posts.
Problem
When trying to use data services on a Sprint Mogul configured for Alltel - Dialing #777 results in a "Cannot connect for unknown reason" message.
Voice and Text works fine.
Current Setup
PPC 6800 - SPC Reset to 000000 via QPST
oliPro 2.4
Radio 3 42 50
DCD 3 2 6
Alltel Carrier Cab 20080824 (I simply double clicked to install this right?)
PRL: 30031 and 40036 tried
ALWAYS ROAMING (I'm never in an Alltel Area)
Windows Connections settings: Alltel Wireless - #777 - login: [email protected] pass: alltel domain: empty
My Flash Steps
1) hard reset
2) Installed olipro 2.4 (and even tried with no2chem 2 47) via RUU
3) Flashed alltel Stock 3.35.671.9 with Radio via RUU
4) Let customizations run
Data at this point does not work but has (last week!!)
5) install radio 3 42 50 via flash
6) install dcd 3 2 6 via ruu
7) let customizations run
8) double clicked on Alltel carrier 20080824 and installed to device
data says same problem
I've tried a *228 Option 2 (update roam) and Option 3 (activate). No help.
I'm stuck

Service option: Pre 707
Data qnc - unchecked
data scrm - enabled

My Questions
1) am I flashing this correctly?
2) Could someone please verify what my DATA and M.IP settings should be in my QPST section?
3) does my HA shared key in EPST have anything to do with this?
Thanks for any guidance or help in getting me setup - I'm hoping that by making stating all my settings nice and clear we can help others that search in solving their problems as well!

DMU Key Reset. Either activate an old phone... wait a bit... get it working... then re-activate the new one. Or... call them.... tell them your phone doesn't get data, and you just did a hard reset. They might be able to fix it for you while you are on the phone.
Case Closed!
I called alltel and asked them to look at at performing a DMU Reset - while looking at my account they realized a few glitches (why they did not catch it before I'm not sure) and made changes.
They included:
Updating my Service Class to Simple IP only
Double Checking my AAA Authentication log and realized that a billing issue was not connected (Damn, they should have left this alone )
Thanks for your help!!1

HTC Desire Wi-Fi Problem

Had a wi-fi problem on my htc desire for a while now..
One time I went to turn wi-fi on and it just said "Unable to start wi-fi". It had worked totally fine up until that point.
I've tried doing a factory reset, rooted, updated rom but it's still not working.
When the problem happened I had not rooted the phone or changed anything really.. it just happened.
In logcat it says:
flg=0x10200000 cmp=com.android.settings/.wifi.WifiSettings bnds=[124,404][236,531] }
D/SettingsWifiEnabler( 548): Received wifi state changed from Enabling to Unknown
W/SyncAllWidget( 151): activeSynch is null false
I/ActivityManager( 79): Displayed activity com.android.settings/.wifi.WifiSettings: 495 ms (total 495 ms)
I/WifiHW ( 79): wifi_load_driver enter
D/SettingsWifiEnabler( 548): Received wifi state changed from Unknown to Enabling
D/dalvikvm( 1805): GC freed 3806 objects / 257536 bytes in 97ms
D/NetworkLocationProvider( 79): onCellLocationChanged [1363,22890]
I/WifiHW ( 79): wifi_load_driver end error 2
E/WifiService( 79): Failed to load Wi-Fi driver.
D/SettingsWifiEnabler( 548): Received wifi state changed from Enabling to Unknown
Anyone got any ideas on how to fix this?

Bump
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
seems like wlan.ko is not available in /system/lib/modules/
I've had similar problems in the past, but was unable to solve them. You can check several things though.
1) wlan.ko in /system/lib.modules <-- has to match up with the kernel that you are using
2) any entries for wifi and/or dhcp in the init.rc and init.devicenamehere.rc files that are in the ramdisk in the boot.img
3) wifi settings in the build.prop
4) files in /system/etc/wifi
5) I'm not sure about this one, but even some of the files in /system/etc/firmware might have something to do with wifi.
6) files in /system/etc/dhcpd
7) any files in /system/bin and/or /system/xbin that are called by *.rc from #2.
Just take a working ROM (stock is usually what I use), and compare the files with the corresponding files in your build. I use either WinMerge or N-way Folder Compare or just plain old 'diff' in Linux.
I had the same issue.
Flashed a new ROM with full wipe etc. Wifi OK.
Flashed a kernel update on top of the ROM. Wifi broken. Turning wifi on it would error and turn off again.
The only way I could fix it was to flash a full ROM and make sure I wiped everything from the recovery.
Any more info you can provide? Current ROM +version +any other mods applied like status bar or OC kernels?
Did anyone fix this?? I am stuck here, G1 Dream
CM 5.0.8 DS
Please help!!!
Are you getting the same error in logcat as others have? If so, I think .mak fixed it, but he never let us know how.
Same Issues...
Ive tried Reverting to CM 5.07, 5.07 and now the beta 6.0 and all have yet to fix the wifi issue. I also tried switching between the radio's and doing a full format/partition and wipe. Any fix to this yet?
That was Lovely Bro...Really Useful...I got my DESIRE today and could connect to WIFI but was unable to browse...This tip helped me...Thx a lot... Keep up the good work..
Trying to replace bcm4329.ko
I did the OTA update for my Desire today, and of course have the wi-fi problem.
However, when I enable wi-fi, I see the following appear at the end of dmesg:
Code:
<3>[ 8197.511535] bcm4329: version magic '2.6.32.15-g6a358a9 preempt mod_unload
ARMv7 ' should be '2.6.32.15-gf9c0527 preempt mod_unload ARMv7 '
The update zip (via thread 778852) contains a bsdiff patch file patch/system/lib/modules/bcm4329.ko.p... and from some examination of that file it appears just to patch the vermagic field of the .ko file.
I tried to use a hex editor to 'fix' bcm4329 and used adb pull/push to replace it, but I get
Code:
failed to copy 'bcm4329.ko.fix' to '/system/lib/modules/bcm4329.ko': Read-only
file system
Can anyone help me with this?
Update: I am a fool. I was using the wrong goldcard! Once I put the right goldcard in, then sdcard:update.zip applied correctly and wi-fi started working again.
@dleonard, could you please make step by step instructions of how to fix this wifi issue?
thanks
Mixu

[Q] Connecting to 802.x Fails on Froyo

My school runs a network with the settings detailed here:
* Network Name (SSID): UMASS-SECURE1X
* Authentication Mode: WPA2 Enterprise
* Encryption Type: AES
* Authentication Method: PAP
* EAP Type: EAP-TTLS
I had no problem connecting to the school network until i installed Froyo (AXURE 2.1). I tried 3 different roms (Onyx, Axure, Stock) and nothing can connect to the school network. If it means anything when ever i go in to edit the network settings the network stays as a TTLS but the second auth changes back to none.
is there a fix and is this a known issue?
already discussed here

[Q] Google play store not downloading apk in EVDO connection

Guys need help.
I was using my photon in India with Reliance CDMA till recently EVDO started having issues with respect the the speed of download. Now the speed issue is resolved but i am not able to download any Apps from google play store.I have again Flashed 198_7 using RSD lite (Now completely stock with locked bootloader and rooted).
But still no luck. When ever i try to download any apps it shows as downloading but without any actual download happening.
It works for sometime when i try to do a factory reset but stops working after few mins. Google play store download happens perfectly on Wifi or1X but with EVDO it fails ?
After seraching a bit in net I have tried clearing the cache for google play store and google service framework but it did not help. even tried with other google account also with the same issue
I tried running logcat and found only few observations given below
12-17 07:30:06.708 W/NetworkStateTracker( 1626): net.tcp.buffersize.evdo not found in system properties. Using defaults
12-17 07:30:06.708 V/NetworkStateTracker( 1626): Setting TCP values: [65536,131072,262144,65536,131072,262144] which comes from [net.tcp.buffersize.default]

12-17 07:30:12.518 W/PackageManager( 1626): Unknown permission com.android.email.permission.READ_ATTACHMENT in package com.motorola.certificatemanager
Any configuration issues or is there any issues with my handset Please help...
After few more testing following are the observations.
Status in settings - about phone shows as connected to EVDO Rev A
*#*#4636#*#* also shows as connected to EVDO Rev A
Speed test app shows a download speed of 1 mbps with ping time of around 120 ms
Except speed test none of the other app (including browsers)are able to access the EVDO BW i believe.
Even i tried connecting my laptop to mobile by making mobile as hot spot that time also the speed i am getting is only around few kbps..
Yesterday night again tried few factory reset without any help.
