[Q] Hello, I could use some help - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just bought my thunderbolt of craigslist today and it is rooted but everything else is stock. I asked how he did it and he said the long way. Whatever that means. I 'm coming from a DroidX so my root was simple. but does it matter how he rooted it or can I only flash certain rom's. I really want synergy on my phone. Thanks for the help

So long as it has S-OFF and clockwork (which im sure it does) you should be good to go.

I just flashed synergy and its great. Only thing is my camera won't work the guy said it. Did but before I flashed the rom my front facing camera wouldn't work. Any way to fix this

Did you wipe data and cache? Sometimes when I forget to do that my phone has quirks. I'm also running synergy and my cameras works great.

Know I didn't ill try that then reflash

When switching to a new (different) Rom always format data/cache and under advanced clear divlik cache. When you upgrade you only have to format system under mounts in recovery clear cache/divlik and then flash Rom.

Thanks but when I switch to my front facing camera it just freezes. Think I should take it Verizon or clear the davilk cache

Clear all 3 before Rom flash.

Check out this guy for help!
check out nat3mill on youtube
has some great tutorials on how to flash roms and etc

I have the ROM flashed and it works great, clearing dilivk really made it run smoother, but the front facing camera still doesn't work the rear does. guys think i should take it to Verizon or call up HTC. Guy I bought it off of said it worked so I guess either I get it looked at or live with it.

Just leave it, I haven't used mine since I bought it.

Your right I never. Used it on my xperia play. Only thing I really need is swype. Oh and I love the nexus s screen close on synergy

Just a suggestion.......try to flash a different ROM and see if your camera issue gets fixed. Make sure that you either use ROM manager to install the rom from your sd card and clear the cache and dalvik cache both or do it manually from clockwork mod prior to flashing the rom. If you get it to work with another ROM then switch back to Synergy. Sometimes stuff like that works for no reason whatsoever but it does.

Has this always happened since you flashed ViperRom? Or is it new?
If its always been happening, do a full wipe then re-install. Could be a bad flash.

I would say reflash. I've developed a few issues over the past week or so, possibly due to some changes, and I'm wiping and reflashing to see it if fixes it.

[Q] Energyrom Sense sluggish, FC problems

I just flashed over to Energyrom for HTC Evo 4g. I love the look but man this thing sure is giving me a headache with all the FC's and how sluggish it is. And what I mean by "all" the fc's is that everything there is known to man on this phone, has been having some sort of fc but nothing closes. It just pops up and does nothing when I click fc. Not sure what is up with it or if I did something wrong for that matter, but I would like to know if there is anything I can do to fix it. I am on Gingerbread if that helps out at all. I'm a noob but I understand computers and technology. Please help. \m/
I also have it rooted with stock everything.

Do a full wipe of data/cache partition/dalvik cache, then reflash the rom.
Ok, I will give that a shot and see what happens. Thanks.

[Q] Broken wifi after new roms

Hello all!
Long time reader here.
I've been looking for answers to this for several hours now and haven't been able to find anything that works.
I bought my Photon new about 2 months ago. Immediatly I rooted and unlocked it, with the thought that I was going to play around with custom ROMs as I did on my Epic 4g.
Anyway, this evening I decided to go ahead and put a new ROM on. I did the usuals, delvak, formats, etc.. I started with Joker's Skinny rev1. Install went great, but I was unable to use wifi. I couldnt even turn it on. It just says "Error" on the wifi settings menu. So I did some research and I found out that this is a common problem and simply needed a dhd.ko file to be replaced. So I did via 7zip and reflashed. Still no wifi. I then tried to give ACS's ROM a try, and same thing. So again, I replaced the dhd.ko file and reflashed. Still no glory. I also went ahead and re-unlocked the bootloader again just in case(read a few issues of that messing with wifi).
So needless to say, I can't figure out how to get my wifi back. I'm at a complete loss. Does anyone have any ideas? Also, if it matters, I live state-side. I don't have anything frozen either. Just a freshly installed ACS ROM.
Thanks for any help you guys can offer.

Downloading now. Is it also worth mentioning that mt 3G seems extra crappy now?

I really need to update skinny. I plan to do a source build and edit it to death. Cm9 has my free time tied up. It won't be too much longer and I'll get everything going on cm9. Luckily rocko roms are turning out great. Eventually I'll go back and update my blur roms.

Scripts have nothing to do with your camera. It simply changes a few things to make it faster. Great for stock rooted roms

Oh I realize that. I was just saying that I dont want to fool with scripts to get a ROM going. And that i also like having a functional camera.
Why is the rom you pointed me to so heavy?! I think it said 427MB. Biggest ive ever seen!
Any ideas on what is causing the wifi issue?
Sent from my MB855 using XDA App
The radios are sensitive. The wifi driver must be compiled to the kernel you are using. In skinny unlocked it is. Skinny complete is the newest and has an awesome web top modification. Uncompressed its 2 gigs.

Lol im having no luck. Sbf to the 198-7. Working great. Then I realized I no longer have a camera.
So the Sbf.. was that supposed to update some internal software to help make skinny work more stable

198-7 clean install should take your back to like it came from the factory...

It did. But I already knew that. I wanted to use a different ROM. Was trying to figure out the wifi issues instead of going back to stock and forgetting about it..
Sent from my MB855 using XDA App
I'm having the same trouble with Skinny. I flashed the skinny14gedition and everything seems to work except for the wifi (error). Still little new to this but what is an sbf? My phone came with 198_6 not 7, should I still flash to that or is there a wifi fix for skinny? Thanks for any help.

Rom help

Ok I am almost at the point of trying a Rom. My questions are..
1) being htvdev unlocked ota upgraded are there roms I cannot install? If so how can I tell.
2)again with the ota restriction can I use goo manager to install or do I need to use fastboot flash boot to do it.
3)looking for advice on a good Rom to install. Not sure about going senseless not that I am against it just I realize it is more than just the pretty face. Although the only widget I use is fancy widgets do not think that requires sence but I could be wrong. I would like the rom with the best multitask capabilities. Super user of course and buttons renapped for sure. The fastest most stable Rom woukd be best.
4) I have reset google wallet so will I be safe from bricking my chip?
Thanks for any and all help

Flashlight and Flash

Seems that recently the LEDs for the flash and what are also used for the flashlight are no longer operating on my husbands phone. I've tried wiping and reflashing JellyBlur v1.3 and trying various applications - but it seems that this doesn't help and that those LEDs just don't want to come on. Is there something that I can do to fix this or are they out for good?
I'm also running JellyBlur v1.3 on my phone and my flash/flashlight are working fine. While I'm waiting I'm going to try flashing another ROM to see if that solves the problem, but any tips or helpful posts are greatly appreciated. Thank You. :good:
Update It seems that switching ROMs didn't help it either. The flash still doesn't want to work nor does any flashlight application including stock. Not sure what happened, but hopefully someone can suggest a fix. (Could it be kernel or something similar related?)
- Tried reflashing JellyBlur v1.3 and Skyraider Zeus v1.3

Do you think flashing that might fix the flash issue? I've never encountered this problem before on our phones so it's new to me.
I would definitely make a backup of what you have now, do a good/clean wipe and install a nandroid backup from a different ROM in which the flash was working to see if the flash will work for you again.
If not, the flash may have just given up on you. =\
Note: Clear data 3x, cache once, and dalvik once. (I always recommend clearing data at least 3x because data doesn't always clear within the first or even second time around)

Yep, tried doing super wipe then cache/dalvik... doesn't work on any of the ROMs I have tried. I guess the flash just went out on his phone. *sad pandas*
I guess he will just have to do for now until I can buy him a new phone. :crying:

Good news. I was able to put ICS (Liquid Desensed36) and applied the new combo radio someone developed.
Using the Wi-Fi w/ root from play store using generic ics/jb (wlan0), channel 2, password protected, with router fix was able to fix his Wi-Fi tether.
Also the ICS Liquid Desenesed36 fixed his Flash and flashlight! (Don't know how; I don't question it) :good::good::good::good::good:
