[Q] SGS II crashing TV signal - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I can not watch my satalite TV in my room while talking to someone on my Galaxy II !
The TV signal interference is so bad that the sat says "No signal" and the reception is almost gone. Once I put the phone out of the room - all is back to normal.
No other phones, including Galaxy S i9000, do not corrupt the TV signal.
What is that?
Is this a specific glitch of i9100?

new one on me.
got no issues being on the phone when im watching sky tv here.

Kinda new issue to me too. I've already changed two custom ROMs and still the same corrupted picture.
I even start wondering if SGS II is in fact safe for human! I mean...you should've seen the TV screen all going crazy and goofy once you start talking on the phone

Interesting.... I will do some experiments to see what I come up with... Can u let me know what frequencies ur sat tv is using?

Ok, my sat receiver says: 12326 MHz.
It's in Russia, "HTB+" channel provider

old news.... ntv+ fella - get a new LNB...
most 2100mhz (3g) and 5ghz (wireless-n) devices affect badly screened heterodynes in cheap Ku-band sat devices....

in my case that would be the receiver in my hotel room, i guess?
strange, that SGS I does not effect it in any way.

Idk... My SkyHD is affected by ipad's 3g reception, and galaxy s2's, but not iphone's and not by wireless-n router...
But indeed, problem is known.. It also may come down to quality of sat cabling and power filter effectiveness...

Should I send it back? Dodgy GPS.

I don't even use the GPS much but this my second Samsung mobile with a dodgy GPS, is it a hardware problem or a firmware issue?
How quick are Samsung at replacing/repairing handsets? I don't want to send the phone off and then not see it for a month.
Sorry to bump the thread but somebody must have some experience with returning phones to Samsung, how long does the process take?

I'm getting mine replaced.
I've just tried out the Galaxy S2 side by side with my existing San francisco (ZTE Blade), outside in clear daylight and I'm getting approximately:
9.8 (feet) with the San Francisco (£80 phone)
40 (feet) with the Galaxy S2 (£400 phone)
What makes it worse is that the Galaxy S2 even has an additional satellite locked on
i dont think you should get it replced just yet, a lot of people are reporting problems with accuracy...just wait it out till a fix comes along

Do your saying it's a software glitch?
i would presume so, the fact that your getting gps lock and can see multiple sattellites means its working...my accuracy is never that great but works for navigation so its fine

Any solution to weak WiFi signal gain ??

hello every one
it seems that almost anyone who has a Galaxy s3 suffers from weak wifi signal gain.I have searched internet and find a possible solution which I think it has nothing to do with weak signal but wifi speed, anyway it says type *#0011# and press option touch key and go to wifi and turn off the power saving mode.
I have done that but i dont see any diffrence in signal quality !
I have a TP-Link wifi modem in my room, when i'm in room signal quality is 5/5 or rarely 4/5 bars but when I go out off room it falls to 1/5 and rarely 2/5 bars !
has anyone found any solution to this problem ?
by far it is the worst Wifi i have ever seen, and should not be with this kind of phone with such a high price
It is possible that your Wi-Fi antenna is connected to the main board via conductive rubber. Which is a poor choice. This was the case for my phone and the GPS antenna. I have no possibility to check this. But it sounds like so.
Cheers.

Apart from the fact that your post is wrong with false claims .
You can try changing your Kernel as that is responsible for the WiFi .
jje
I have no issues with wifi signal / strenght.
I did however upgrade to a 32gb model and restored my old cwm backup. After that wifi was horrible but a factory reset fixed it.

I have absolutely no problems with Wi-Fi, as jj Egan said, try changing kernel, that is usually at the root of weak Wi-Fi signal,

Isn't this just going to drain the battery much quicker?
I don't have a problem with Wi-Fi. I'm in the upstairs room right now, which is above the router (the signal is going through the floor) both my PC and phone get full signal.

SELL IT .
Every Samsung phone I've ever had has shown at least one less bar than my old iPhone(sorry) at the same distance from the router. Sometimes I'm only say a few metres away and it drops a bar, however the speed seems to be identical no matter how many bars it shows.

Pretty sure that's because iPhones now intentionally raise the signal meter so people don't complain about antennagate (that was their solution to it).

[Q] Signal Problems. Caused by hardware problem?

Dear Forum members,
I know this is a very common problem/ question. But looking through the forum I was not able to sovle this problem myself.
So the problem is I have no reception neither in my flat nor at work. This makes my phone kind of useless.
I recently tried out several modems but could not achieve anything with that.
My gf has a I9100 as well with the same provider (O2, Germany). She has pretty good signal quality in our flat while my cell has none (even with exact same baseband phones next to each other).
So I can only guess that it is a hardware issue. What do you think?
Btw, outdoors of our building I have 100% signal H+ (I'm living kind of in the middle of Berlin).
Your help is very appreciated here. Cheers,
lennart

Seriously, this issue started when? It's just weird that you don't get any signal indoors, but your girl, with the same device as you, does.
If warranty isn't voided...I'd pay the store a visit.
Could there be a problem with the antenna? Would be worth the try to buy a new one?

Is your warranty voided? How long has it been since you got any signal at your place/work?
Did you change some part recently, like speaker/usb flex? Did you try to use the external antenna?
Don't even dream of messing with the antenna unless you're absolutely certain your warranty is no good (damage to the phone caused by normal use/misuse or warranty period expired).
If your warranty is good, use it.

Okay, full story: I bought the phone used 2 weeks ago from some guy. I tested it with him outside. Worked great Took it home and recognized that signal quality is bad. No warrenty at all. And I found that 1 of the 7 screws was missing. So I'm not the first who opened it I guess.
Maybe something was exchanged but I don't know. Think it would be of any good to exchange speaker/usb flex?
New ones are below 10€ so I could give it a try.
Thanks for your replies!

For whatever it's worth I just got 2 of these back panels from China and they both did not fit. They were just a tiny bit to short. And I really tried to force these on too. I could get the top on and then when I really forced the bottom on the top pops out. You can't expect good quality control for something this cheap I guess..
Ah well. At least they weren't that expensive...
Could you pls show me the link? I wan to purchase it for Mega 5.8. Tks

For what it's worth, I got one of these in blue, looked good, fit good but it was definitely degrading my reception. I had my phone side by side with a friends (ATT) note II and my phone stayed on HSDPA until the cover was removed. Too bad... looked great.

[Q] Poor cellular signal

Hey, everyone.
My friend and I unlocked his Note and he switched to T-Mobile. We played around with flashing different radios and ended up with one that gets decent signal, but nothing that's satisfactory. Are there other radios that work on this phone? Can it be any T-Mobile radio?

Charging flex cable
Hello, I purchased a i717 off eBay and my luck i figured out after I got it and had no cell signal accept in a few real good hot spots. I figured out the seller replaced the charging port flex cable... I read that the part numbers matter a lot on this phone andhe don't have the original now.... I am trying to get this figured out it as on the case v0.3 so I'm guessing the one I needed is a rev 3.0 and I can't find it anywhere or a rev 2.0 for that matter... So does anyone have any idea how to tell which one i need and do they actually say rev 2, or just the second numbers are different but it says rev1 in the top line.....I've checked the antenna cable and it charges fine..... Please help........:crying: I sold my iPhone 5 and found this amazing phone that I can't use :crying:

Figures I get 1 reply on my first post and its someone just out to make someone feal bad...have you ever had this issue? I joined this forum looking for help not to be made fun of thanks. if I was unclear I'm sorry let me clarify....
There are 2 sets of numbers on the charging port flex cable.... I find a bunch of rev 1.0 cables with a few having different numbers for the second set of numbers on the cable. I read there are 3 revisions of this cable rev 1.0 rev 2.0 and rev 3.0.... So how can you tell which rev it is will it say rev 2 or 3 in the first set of numbers or is the second number how you tell?
So in short 1. How can you tell which rev the cable is?
2. How can you tell which rev the phone should have if you don't have the original part?
3. Where can you buy th part you need if it's rev 2 or rev 3 ?
If in doubt, buy the latest revision. It should be backwards compatible. To know for sure, contact a samsung service center and ask them.
