Only you can answer that question for yourself. For me, I will wait until they come down in price. Do I want one? Hell yes. Will I pay $220 for one? Hell no.

but if i sell my iPod it should give me the $220

will that even work with the 3d (or anything on the market right now?) its not simply a microsd card, its microsdxc which is a different format and requires the proper reader

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think their is a device out that will support 64gb card.I believe the evo 3d will only support 32gb card. Anyhow I would wait just to much money for those cards. They will come down in price.

Max capacity is 32 gig. Anything more is out of spec.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Digital_card

There have already been people who bought them and they work in the 3D as long as you format the card with stock ROM.
boom!! from my shooter

can someone who has used one show a pic working, would be great to know. my 20gb of music really fills my 32gb up quickly.

Wrong. That was the case with SDHC. But SDXC is the new version that supports greater than 32GB, and as others mentioned it has been confirmed to be working with a number of Android devices, including the EVO 3D (do a search, as there's a forum member here who bought a 64GB microSDXC card and it works fine).

so whats the limit then?
If 32gb is not the limit, is 64gb definitely the max? I'm asking cause there are 128gb sdxc cards on sale for about $200, will those work? FYI, I checked on amazon/eBay and $200 for a 64gb seems like a ripoff, there's one on sale for $79

to use for phone, yes. sdxd is the big card.

Just to confirm information that these are working, since I'm not sure everyone was certain on the prior page in the thread:

...and:
Mine has been in my SGSII for over a week now and no problems. I expect these to work in most current Android devices, I believe one of the other owners has confirmed the Evo 3D as one of them.

Make sure it's MICRO sdxc. I saw SDXC's for sale, but if you go to details and look at the physical size of it, it's not a micro card. I don't think there's a 128 microSDXC yet.

No, 64 GB is not "definitely" the limit. From what I can tell from the spec descriptions I've been able to find, there's no limit on the maximum capacity of card that the phone can handle beyond whatever can be made within the SDXC spec. As it's typically been compliance with the tech spec that limits the card capacity (old devices that couldn't handle beyond 4 GB cards were due to their inability to handle the SDHC spec).
The key here is to understand that we're dealing with microSDXC, and not the full (physical) size SDXC cards.

Micro SD card, Best bang for the $

Ok, this is something I know a lot of people are possibly concerned about. I seen it noted in other threads but never really discussed completely. I've been doing some research about class 6 and class 10 Micro SD cards. Now the prices really aren't that bad anymore for the micro SD cards. I was really surprised to see a Kingston 32GB MicroSDHC Class 10 for $109 on Newegg.com but I was not searching for prices rather searching for reviews from people who have used them. I don't care about what (1) person says, but of what (X) people have to say about a product to reduce the bias content. I am a fan on SanDisk and they claim a 15Mb/s read spead Micro SD card called the Mobil Ultra and is priced at $83.93 at Amazon.com
Through my research of it I found a review someone did of the 4GB model.
Before I go further checking other products though, I would like to know what the read/write speeds of the EVO 3D are and if that's not available then just the read/write of a phone with equal quality.
I just got a 16GB class 4 Sandisk from Walmart last week for $30, so I would say that you should not pay $84 for the same thing.
Edit: Just looked into it a little bit more and they claim faster sequential R/W speeds on the Mobile Ultra, I benchmarked mine and don't remember the exact numbers since I was more interested in the random R/W speeds. Either way it seems like a hefty price to pay for what seems to be an ~50% increase in speed.
Last night I picked up a Patriot 32GB Class 10 card from Frys for 84.00.
Is patriot any good? Im a little weary of going to brands I don't know. Also I read bad things about class 10 SD cards failing a lot.
Also in the review, maybe I should have posted the benchmark scores for people that didn't want to click the link.
"Testing showed that the Mobile Ultra microSDHC card offers more than adequate read and write data transfer speeds. Read speeds averaged 20MB/sec. and write speeds averaged 14MB/sec. This is significantly faster than a typical microSDHC card, and is a big jump in performance over a microSD card as well."
So I like those speeds. He used about 500MB of MP3 files for the tests.
Also the MicroSD cards used to cost like $100 for a class 2-4 16GB a few years ago. To me the increase of speed is worth it if the phone can use it. May allow for faster loading of games and apps saved on the SD card. I don't exactly know which is my reason for opening the thread and I'm sure others would like to know as well.
I had a Patriot 16GB class 10 that I replaced with the Sandisk. I had been trying to run a ROM off it for my Nook and kept getting FC's. If you only need it to do things like play music it will be fine, but I wouldn't be installing apps to SD if I were using that.
I've never even heard of patriot. I would definitely stick with known brands. Especially if your buying an expensive ass class10
R.I.P hd2 hello Evo 3d
Patriot is some of the best memory out for RAM, I would assume they keep their standards up for cards too.
I just bought a 32Gb class 10 SanDisk Extreme III at Amazon last night for 89.95.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004P1V8TM
I bought a PNY 32GB class 10 for 60 bucks in New Egg. Its showing out of stock now tho. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820178381
I've bought PNY memory (flash drives, SCHC cards, etc) before and they've been good to me so far.

It's amazon either refuse the shipment or ship do an rma to ship it back. Since it's your fault they'll charge you shipping or you can ship it your own way back to them. If you refuse shipment they'll simply refund your total amount when they get it back. Cancelling payment isn't the right thing to do in this case, plus they can get it overturned with the cc company if their delivery shows it was received.

It's called anecdotal evidence. You have given some and so have I. If you are refering to the compatibility list? Ok. Glad this is a thread for HTC which has excellent compatibility with this brand. It works great in the Xoom I had for a week. Works great in my Evo 4g. Worked great in my GF's Hero until she begged me for a Nexus4g... I have yet to have a patriot work near or less than rated speed. Always much better than rated. Sorry you have had a bad experience.

a lot of times doing firmware updates on devices allows them to accept higher capacity storage devices. for instance my old sandisk sansa mp3 player accepted upto a 4gb microsd card, but once I updated the device it would then take the 32gb from my thunderbolt.
its possible when htc said it can take up to a 32 that at that stage in develooment that could have been the max, or possibly 32 was the biggest size they tested.

They don't exist yet, he was referring to the fact that documentation says that this new SDXC technology could theoretically support up to 2TB of data. But we currently aren't anywhere near being able to fit it that small yet, but the format supports it.

It should work. AFAIK, 64gb will even work with older phones like the s2. I think the difference with the s3 is that you can format the microsd card to use exFAT instead, which should be better than fat32 (ex: no more 4gb file limits)

Make sure it is FAT32 format. You can check by sticking it into your computer's SD slot (with the SD adapter). Check in your explorer or finder.
Phones can only see FAT32 or FAT16 format. If it is NTFS then it must be formatted to FAT32 (btw, not the Win7 version exFAT. This doesn't work either)
Interesting.. I was told by my AT&T representative that 64gb would not work on this phone. Maybe it was because they had a 32gb in the store for like $125! Ridiculous price! I told him I bought a 64gb for less than $60 and he knew that they were gouging the prices of these things.
So Fat32 format and I will see the full 64gb? Will give it a try, thanks!!

Actually, you will get around 59.4gb to 60gb depending on the parity. That's plenty of space.
