What speeds are you getting on your GS2? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

I'm in central Florida (kissimmee/Orlando) and I'm getting an average of 3mbps down and 1.1mbps up. Just curious as to what the rest of you are getting.
Also this might be a silly question, but if I'm on "4G", should it say UMTS or HSPA+ in my about phone status?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using XDA App

It says HPSA. Haven't checked my speeds, been on Wi-Fi.

what are your pings?

Ping 75 ms
Download 3681 kbps
Upload 617kbps

does it feel fast as far as when you hit the browser until a page loads?

Yes the browser performance is quite good.
More info: HSPA+ isn't available in Charlotte currently, Charlotte uses the 1900 band

I live in Indianapolis, IN and I have an H+ on my status bar and my speeds were clocked at
4139 kbps down
1105 kbps up
130ms ping
I am currently a bit further out than Indianapolis at the moment though so I am not sure if the speeds will be better once I am in the city.

Does the the H+ mean we are getting 4G? If so hspa+ speed is pretty disappointing.

H+ means HSPA+, this is not an LTE (real 4G) phone.

Mine is showing H+ up top but UMTS in phone status. My ping is averaging 150ms. So far feels faster than my captivate, but I was expecting better.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using XDA App

I was more asking if the H+ icon actually means we are getting hspa+. As the speeds don't seem that much better than what I had on my captivate. Also when I dial *#0011# it says HSPA+ used:0 leading me to believe the h+ icon has no real meaning.

My S2 will be sitting idle until some ROMs pop up, but the S2 demo in my local AT&T store got around 2.5 mbps down and 1 mbps up (which is typical for my area).
When in the settings, you'll see UMTS. Devices often switch to HSDPA/HSPA when a data session starts.

No, I haven't turned mine on yet but with other devices AT&T set them up to display H+ for UMTS (3G) and HSPA (3.5G).

on my inspire in southeastern connecticut, I'm getting 6mb down and 2mb up, with a ping of 101. this is on H, not hspa+. hopefully my gs2 will be a bit faster once i get it

Anywhere from 3-8 down and a pretty consistent 1.0 up here in Akron Ohio and surrounding areas
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using XDA App

Not sure what's up with my speeds...
44kbps Download
45kbps Upload
261ms Ping
This is in Little Falls, NJ

At my house I'm getting about 3 Mbps down 1 up. With my captivate I got around 1.8 down .9 up. Slight improvement.
However my wifi connection is way faster.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using XDA App

Interesting, I'm having a trend of faster pings but lower data speeds on my gs2 than my inspire. In areas I would get around 4-5 mbps the gs2 gets 3xxx, and where I normally connect in my living room at 28-2900 I am now getting 1500 or so. However ping is twice as fast

Maybe it's enough compensation (latency) for slower speeds?

I'm getting 8-9 Mbps down and about 1 Mbps up in midtown Atlanta right now in the middle of the day.

I am in between Washington D.C and Baltimore MD and I am getting the following. I will try and remember to bring my Captivate to work tomorrow to see if there is a huge difference between the two.
2816 down
937 up
99ms Ping

I live In Arcadia, west of Pasadena, outdoors on 4G, I get around 6-8 Mbps routinely. Don't check 3G cause I never use it. Indoors I'm about 2-3 Mbps.
I work in Marina Del Ray (hows that for a commute), the 4G signal is so-so... around 5 Mbps.
Culver sucks as far as signal. on the 10 freeway between the 405 and all the way to USC its pretty weak.

I am in fountain valley. I get 4-8 mb at home. It is amazing I get perfect service in one corner and I move it two feet the 4g signal starts crapping out, lol. on 3g I am between .75 - 2.0 mb at home, it just depends on the time of the day.

I'm right next to you in Sherman Oaks but not getting anything close to those speeds. Did you do anything like reset your data or call Sprint to have them do a reprovisioning?
Got Long Beach on lock here. I average around 800-1300kbps on 3G. On 4G, its more like 3-5mbps.

Where I work in culver city I don't even get 4g. Nor on my commute or at home. If i go a couple blocks from any location I do. My 3g signal is pretty good everywhere if I'm outside. Inside can be ok to horrendous.
Im down here in San Diego and get consistently lower speeds than any that have been posted so for. And there is NO 4G at all.
I called Sprint and they are sending me a free airave in hopes that it will give me a better connection.
I cannot even talk on my phone at my home because the calls get dropped. I had two calls dropped WITH Sprint technical support on Friday.

Maybe Sprint is Upgrading 3g

So I usually check the news in the morning and today (day before the announcement) I noticed that the web pages were loading super fast so I did Speed test and I'm getting crazy 2mbps/d and 1.3mbps/u! I'm usually in the 200kbps/140kbps. I figure that they're testing out beforehand to make sure its running well. What are you guys getting?

287k down, 142k up. Central PA. But if I remember, NYC was @ the same. My 4G in NYC was like 9M down and 3M up? Cannot remember. My phone USUALLY flys as it is on 3G and I never really think about it.
It would be nice, I have never seen 3G speeds on any CDMA network in my area above 500k - including Verizon, I actually see better more consistent speeds with Sprint than VZW.
I have my doubts though, living in the sticks really does have advantages, but stuff like this sucks.
I just did the speed test and on 3g i got 2.34mbps down and .64 mbps up. Those are pretty standard numbers for me. I do have an airave at home so don' know if that is making a difference.

My bad, I did not have my glasses on. 2.8Md/1.4Mu (missed some zeros). All Networks are improving 3G (the currently majority of their base model phones) by using different forms of compression for greater speeds. Oh well..........
I lost 3g data connectivity entirely today. I have full bars like I usually do but can't get any data through.

My data connection is suddenly being very intermittent, too.
I'll try updating my PRL and Profile.... See if that helps at all.
My websurfing is flaky as heck, my Google Talk connection keeps going in and out (and taking a long time to re-login) and I can't seem to update the Android market.
I had just run the "supercharger v6" script, but that shouldn't affect my data connection.... right????
Well let's hope for the best. I'm getting full bars everywhere in Anaheim, CA and speed is constant. I just watched my first youtube video without a single hiccup on 3G

I have also noticed improvements in 3g speed from ohio to texas, been testing at points from columbus to dallas fort worth, have seen 2 meg speeds in fort worth and consistently higher speeds overall.
My guess is with the onset of the IPHONE on sprint, sprint has had to get their 3g act together as the IPHONE does not support LTE or WIMAX it is solely 3g so they cannot afford to continue to piss people off with poor 3g performance. I am now seeing the high speeds I used to see before the smartphones came along with my sanyo mm 9000.

3g in my house is usually ~1mb down / 700kb up or so..
Just did a test - 300kb down / 500kb up. This is in the suburbs of san francisco..

I used to get ~1mbps down but in the least three months I've only been getting 30-150 kbps down and 30 kbps up. Totally unusable.

So when LTE comes to town

So when LTE comes to town will we lose HSPA+???
Nope they will co-exist just like edge and hspa+ do today.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777
It is my understanding that even when on LTE you use GSM for phone calls and other non-data related transactions. Either way, they're not building an HSPA+ network to tear it down in 2 years.
Just checking. I don't care if I don't get LTE capability for the next 2 years, I just wish they would strengthen the signals they already have in my area.

There is lte here and my h+ works great they will have to coexist, they only have 2 lte phones out, a lot more use h+

I suggest you don't.
Hellraiser is probably never coming to the Skyrocket. The Skyrocket has a slower SoC in general so you will notice more stutters here and there. The i777 will get ICS first through XDA.
Even if you got it today, an integrated LTE modem with the SoC won't be coming until next year for Qualcomm, and around 2H 2012 or 2013 for other companies. You won't be missing much, seeing as how by the time you do get another upgrade in 20 months you will have a step up in everything as opposed to a step up in data speeds and a step down in processor/developer support.
****, I don't even have H+ yet.

Don't fall for all this 4G marketing crap from AT&T. They are not even close to offering true HSPA+ or LTE speeds so no need to worry for now. When they offer the true speeds it will be time to change your phone anyways.
HSPA+, or Evolved High-Speed Packet Access, is a technical standard for wireless, broadband telecommunication. HSPA+ was first defined in the technical standard 3GPP release 7.
HSPA+ provides an evolution of High Speed Packet Access and provides data rates up to 84 Megabits per second (Mbit/s) to the mobile device and 22 Mbit/s from the mobile device.
3GPP Long Term Evolution (LTE) is a standard for wireless communication of high-speed data. It is based upon GSM/EDGE and Universal Mobile Telecommunications System/High Speed Packet Access (UMTS/HSPA) network technologies.Features of LTE include an all-IP flat network architecture, end-to-end QoS including provisions for low-latency communications, peak download rates nearing 300 Mbps and upload rates of 75 Mbps, capacity exceeding 200 active users per cell[3], the ability to manage fast-moving mobiles, and support for multi-cast and broadcast streams.

I have a verizon LTE hotspot for school that can hold me over. I spend 90% of my time at work or at home, so the HSPA+ is plenty to fill in the gaps when I can't use my high end connections.

Slightly Disappointing 4G LTE Speeds

Got this bad boy earlier and im still getting adjusted to the screen size. Being my first AT&T 4G LTE device i wanted to put it through the paces. Did a **** load of speedtests and the mean is in the range of 8Mbps-10 and a few spikes above that. Being that this is a 4G LTE next generation network I'm a little disappointed there. My XYBOARD consistently gets over 15Mbps. Hell, my old HTC Amaze on T-Mobile even got ridiculous 15+ Mbps speeds on HSPA+. What's wrong with AT&T's network? No one is even on it yet.
I'm in SoCal, specifically the Long Beach area. I'm seeing other people get downright stupid speeds of 50+ Mbps. What's the difference between my area and yours? Is it possible that AT&T has done more work on certain areas than others? I really hope these speeds increase in the future. 8-10Mbps isn't much better than what I get on HSPA+.

Perhaps some thing to do with the numbers of ASU??? but i do not know.
Please do not make threads about city specific LTE. Signal strength and speed will vary from tower to tower and distance from it.
For example, at home my phone shows LTE but has less than 3G speeds and usually gets stuck on the upload.
