I've never seen any kind of red light on my s2. Even with talkback. As far as I know there's no led in mine... Unfortunately...

The red LED you see is actually the proximity sensor in action. It's the circle closer to the front facing camera.

LED notification on SGS...just noticed.

Ok I was walking into my house when I received a call. I answered and since there were no lights on I noticed a red flashing led on the left side of the AT&T logo between the front can and promixty sensor. I didn't know the SGSII had a led till this point, and since it does, any way to make it brighter and configure it for SMS etc? Sorry if I'm late. News to me...lol.

Not a notification light, its the infrared led used for the proximity sensor.

[Q] Blinking/Flashing Red Light from Proximity Sensor on GS2

I just bought SSGS2 last week, and i noticed that when i make a call, this the red light will be blinking/flashing. When I compare it to other SSGS2, all of which will have a red light on when make a phone call (not blinking/flashing).
So I was wondering if anyone had the blinking light?
As far as I am concerned, it does not affect usage just yet.
But who knows...it might be a sign of inferior sensor.
Thank you.

Use your phone in the dark, you will see a very dim red glow where the proximity sensor is.
Thank you.
Should it be blinking? or stay on while calling?
Mine is blinking. Those of my friends stay on
can some one please advise, Proximity Sensor should be Blinking/Flashing or solid On when you are on call?
It's blinking for me as well... Why are you guys so paranoid. Is it working? Yes it is.
It blinks extremely quickly, seems like 20 times a second. I can in indoors lighting clearly.

not paranoid mate, just want to find out if this is normal, yes so far this is not affecting performance.
Well my so called proximity sensor "red dot" keeps flickering while in standby/phone locked. I understand it's suppose to be on while on a call etc. but what when the phone is lying idle?
same problem!

kindly email me if you have method to solve it . [email protected]
I dont know if this is relevant but I've had both the i9100 and the i9100G. On the G variant the blinking of the proximity sensor was pronounced and noticeable.. whereas on the international variant I've never yet noticed it blinking or staying on. Maybe you have the G variant?

If you have Viber, uninstall it! I had that issue few days back. actually I just uninstalled it because it was draining my juice but the then after getting rid of the viber app my proximity sensor was no longer blinking like crazy.
Since I dont use Viber I unistall it.

[Q] Touch Light Keys on the white S3

Hi guys.
I just wanted to confirm something regarding the touch light keys(menu and back keys) on the white S3.
When they light up, the surface around them will also have some dim light probably because they're too bright.
Is this normal? Does this happen to all white S3 users?
I attached a photo to make my poor description clearer.
Thanks a lot.
turn them off
Yes, happens to all of themthem
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Yes it happens on mine also.
Thanks for the reply. Now I'm relieved.
One additional question, does this happen on the blue S3 too?
Same here, i just turned them off because you cant miss the buttons. And i think the phone looks better with them off.
It happened on my white one - I call it the halo effect. That's why I swapped to the pebble blue. It doesn't happen on the pebble blue.
So it doesn't happen on the blue one.
But I still love my white one, bored of dark colour already although the blue S3 is kinda unique.
And yes I'm gonna turn them off, looks clean and sleek.
This is normal. You will also notice that the notification LED will have the same effect e.g. blue LED - whole front of phone will turn blue when the LED is on.
Does not happen on the Blue one.

It's not a problem.
All white models are made in this way.
If you don't like, turn it off.
On this subject. Does anyone know of a way to change the brightness of the buttons? I have them off atm but would like them on but dimmer. The light blur looks quite cheap and is a design oversite in my opinion.
I would be very interested also in any solution to adjust the brightness

It would be great if there's an app to adjust the brightness of the touch light keys!
Any news about the adjustment of the touch key brightness?

I've turned them off. I don't get it at all. Why do the buttons light up? What information is it giving you? "Don't forget - this is a button - press it and something will happen. In the case of the back button what will happen will be entirely unpredictable 90+% of the time! Might go back, might quit, might even take you to a page you've never been to! But you can press it!"
Any news about it? Someone knows if it's possible to adjust the brightness of the touch keys?
Every solution is welcome
I have white s3 and I prefer the lights like that.. looks cool.

Dont think its a problem..the led becomes dim when there is so much light in its surroundings..samsung made it to be light sensitive in the new firmwares.. not in the old ones though..

Led next to headphone

Hi,
There is a led next to the headphone input. When will it light? Notifications, new messagrs, blue tooth on, charging won't make it light
Please use the search function, there was a VERY long thread about the LED, and the current consensus is that it's there, but no way to use it yet.

Tapatalk sorry, no search
I think the led next to the headphone socket is the light sensor for the screen, in that it adjusts the brightness of the screen depending on the ambient light.

Nope. Its definitely an led.
It's not an led. Tear down pics in the other thread show it's not. Led is hidden in the black bezel.

Yes.. Exactly it is just above the speaker ( lower) and at the same position of front camera but in lower part of the bezel
OK, here is the deal, this has been to fully discussed and stated. with pictures (and Xrays) and I have seen the led myself. let your tablet fully drain. the then plug it into power. there is NO LED on the upper bezel. the LED is located on the bottom. in the middle, just where it is on the n7.2. it will blink a few times when the power cord is connected to a depleted tablet. that's all it does right now
EOD
is. tapatalk has a search feature. I used it to find that exact thread just now.
ADMINs please lock this redundant thread please.
