[Q] ms exchange "sync" works? - email/contacts/calender? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

I'm about to take the plunge, and I'm 90% decided on the SGS2 (eligible for ATT upgrade);
Coming from an ATT Tilt 2, with winmo OS, and Active Sync software, which had excellent functionality for syncing and interacting with MS Exchange server (for my work).
I need to be able to edit my outlook calendar(exchange server) and send meeting invitations from the device, I need to access all of my outlook (exchange server) contacts, emails, tasks (ideally One-note if possible) and have everything sync continuously as new emails and exchange server transactions take place.
Has anyone specifically used the ATT version of the SGS2 successfully in this capacity? if so what SW was required? how satisfied are you with the compatibility and functionality?
(I need this for work, and I'm talking wireless syncing to ms exchange WAN server address, (on an unlimited data account))
To give you an idea of the level of compatiblity I'm talking about, here is an example. When you send an email from outlook on your laptop os (xp or win7) you can have a default signature. And the same can be done from my tilt2.
Another example, when I make a new appointment on the calender on the tilt2, not only does it sync to the exchange server (as reflected on my PC with outlook open), but I can utilize the same options for setting up the meeting invitation on the tilt2 with winmo os, (matching the PC with outlook-options). I.E. for an appointment or event I can set privacy status, or out-of-office status for the calendar item, or go in and edit the status later and sync with exchange server.
Thanks in advance for any information, and insight.

I am using it with Exchange Server 2003 and it works fine for contacts, calendar and emails. The only issue that I am having is opening our voice mail messages (.wav attachments) from a Cisco Unity server.
This is my first Android phone so I am clueless about that. You can follow my other thread about this .wav issue here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1290232

I am using my SGS II with our company exchange server. Yes, it does push sync. If fact, I usually get my emails on my phone about 30 seconds faster than my desktop.
Yes, I can access the global address list on the exchange server from my phone.
Yes, I can send meeting requests and the calendar syncs as expected.
A new feature that I didn't have the my captivate (SGS I) is that i can now also sync my exchange Tasks.
And yes, contacts also sync to my phone from the exchange server.

Remote Tracker opens Outlook instead of sending email silently

Newbie here having trouble with Remote Tracker 0.4.2-0 on my TMOUS HD2 and haven't found an answer yet. When I send email commands to RT, such as rt2#egp, my phone just sits there in standby and when I unlock it Outlook is open with the email message ready to send. Anyone have an idea why and what I need to do? When I go to Outlook Contacts>Menu>Options I get an error report, "A problem has occurred with poutlook.exe," then comes up with List view settings, that's it, I don't know if there is supposed to be more and not sure if this has anything to do with the message not being sent. Everything is stock except for a few added apps and I just did a hard reset before reinstalling my apps after some experimentation. I don't use Outlook or even set up an email account on phone and haven't made any tweaks I can think of that would effect Outlook.
I also noticed that the CELLID shows me to be in New Jersey when I'm actually in Texas, this doesn't seem to be of much use at all but I haven't tried changing CELLID settings from default.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I thought commands where you supply an email address (like, rt2#egp#[email protected]#password) would, if so configured, silently without intervention send to the supplied email addy without even having email setup in RT; however, I do have the email account in RT configured; I do not have Outlook, AOL, Yahoo, etc accounts set up in the HD2s mail app (I use Opera to go to my Hotmail account).
In RT's email setup I have only one option under Account, Activesync, is this correct?

no, you need an actual account set up that the phone can use to connect to an outgoing email server with. Just feeding it the email address you want to use is no good, as it has no m,eans to send to that address. Its a bit like giving a man with no telephone your phone number ad asking him to call you.
Choosing the activesync account wouldnt help either, as it would only send when the phone was copnnected and synced to outlook on a pc. (activesync isnt a real account, just an extension of teh outlook account on eth pc)

Android-Sync and MiniPro

Hi All,
I am looking for an application that allow me to sync Outlook
with X10 Mini (contacts and Calendar).
I found android-sync but it sync the contacts only.
It is not able to sync the calendar.
Do you have similar problems?
How can I sync phone with outlook?
/Francesco
I use android-sync and this is what I have found out:
- on one computer with Windows Vista and Outlook connected to an Exchange server, it can sync contacts only;
- on another computer with Windows 7 and Outlook using only local folders, it can sync contacts and calendar.
However there is no option to choose what range of dates to use in the sync, it doesn't sync recurring events, tasks or anything else.
I have tried to contact the developer using the email address reported on his website to discuss a couple of bugs but he has not replied to my message at all. On top of all this he also let the application expire at the end of August and uploaded a new version only a few days later so for several days I could not sync at all as I was getting an error message asking to download a new version that didn't exist.
To be honest I think he has lost interest in developing the application. It's a pity because there is basically no alternative. The fact that SonyEricsson has not included any way to perform local synchronisation with this phone is shameful.
Ciao.
Has anyone solved the sync problem?
I use an Outlook plugin called gSyncIt. Cost $15 but worth every penny.
I have 2 calendars and 2 sets of contacts in Outlook, personal and work related. On my google account I simply created 2 new calendars and this program syncs the Outlook calendar of my choice to the Google calendar of my choice.
Once it's on my Google account Android sync gets it to my phone no problems.
It'll also sync contacts/tasks etc
Perfect for me - it means I can use Jorte on my mobile to view my personal Outlook, my shared office calendar and all my shared google calendars at the same time.
http://www.daveswebsite.com/software/gsync/
But the whole idea was to sync in a way that avoids giving your soul away to the devil. If there is ONE company in the world that I don't trust, that company is Google. Local synchronisation keeps your data to you. That's why it is so important to have Android-Sync or some other workable alternative...
My troubles with Android-Sync continue! Suddenly my phone does not connect anymore! On the phone I get the message that Android-Sync is connect but on my pc the Android-Sync interface behaves as if there is no phone connected. I haven't installed or changed anything on either phone or PC, abd.exe is running and the Windows device manager doesn't report any problems.
I am really losing patience with SonyEricsson and the lack of local synch. I might stick to Android in the future but HTC supports local synchronisation so I will be looking at other phone manufacturers.
what's the outcome? is there a way for a local sync?
I'm a real newbie concerning android but i found in the market this free program called 'My Phone Explorer' and it syncs all my outlook contacts and calender entries without a problem either through wifi or usb cable.
android sync
Just to say I've tried today android sync to synchronize contacts and calendar from my corporate outlook (did not want to sync with google for obvious reasons..).
And it works like a charm !
Here's the link : http://www.android-sync.com/ (it's free)
Connect your mini with USB debug ON.

[Q] Sync Outlook with Mozart WM7

Hi,
Does anyone know if it is possible to synchronise The new Mozart 7 with Outlook for contacts and calender ?
Thanks.
That is the way I have got my contacts etc onto my Mozart ignoring the sim card route although it was via work Outlook by Exchange
The only way I managed to do this was to setup a hotmail account and copy all of my contacts within outlook. Provided you have the outlook connector installed you can add the new hotmail account to your mozart and the next time you sync it will transfer over all your contacts and appointments.
unfortunately i have the 64-bit microsoft office, outlook doesn't work with wmdc or seemingly anything else, never has worked and microsoft seems in no hurry to fix this, oh well, luckily most fo my contacts were in my windows live ID so it all got synced
I've got it syncing via exchange. Have to say for all it's failures (it is going back sadly) at least it syncs outlook flawlessly but then it is a Microsoft product..
Have sync'd two exchange accounts, contacts, calendars... and it's smart enough to not double up on duplicate contacts.
There is no ActiveSync possible in WP7. You have to sync via some sort of online service (Hotmail, Gmail, Exchange, etc).
FYI, even Microsoft recomend against using Office 64bit unless you are working with mega huge spreadsheet type data (4GB+ files).
how to sync notes and tasks from outlook 2007 to WM7?
does anyone know how to do a GAL lookup after you setup the device with an exchange account?
Synchronization with Outlook
Hello,
It's possible to calendar, contact...
1) You must add a microsoft plugin in Outlook 2010 (Outlook.Connector)
2) Create a new account (ex : [email protected])
(This account should be the same as WM7 phone account)
3) The news informations of calendar or contacts are send in account @live.fr
when you click on SEND/RECEIVE
4) You start "Hotmail App." on the mobile (with your account) and you synchronize.
5) The news "Outlook Informations" are now in your mobile phone
Best regards
SL

[Q] External Exchange mail app?

Hi all.
I am looking for a solution with Exchange.
What do I need: to have XPOutlook emails synchronized in WMInbox(offline messages via ActiveSync) AND access to Exchange server simultaneously(new/online/not synchronized yet with XPOutlook messages). There is a problem, when I synchronize Exchange and XPOutlook, all messaes are moved from Exchange to XPOutlook,so when I setup Exchange access in PDA,I see just new unread emails,if I synchronize XPOutlook via ActiveSync with PDA,I see each other messages. I do need both of them in my PDA.
As I found,I could have either Outlook or Exchange folder in WMInbox, but not these both together. So I got an idea,to synchronize WMInbox with XPOutlook and for Exchange access to use an external app.for WM. So the question is,if there exist something like this,or how to have both accounts in WMInbox?
How is your Outlook connected to Exchange? Messages should be present on both locations, not either.
Outlook downloads all new emails from exchange, emails are collected in PC side pst and afterwards they are deleted from exchange.
Is that what you want (or what the admin forced on you)? Are you using a POP3 connection? If you are using an Exchange connection (MAPI), then your local mail store is in sync with the Exchange online store.
What's the Exchange version and what's your Outlook version?
Outlook is v2007,others I don't know, but I think, the company is mostly up to date. Problem is,that I cannot do anything with Exchange. Well,no POP3 nor IMAP protocol is used.

[Q] Outlook

Hello,
Just exchanged my iPhone 3S for a Atrix 4G yesterday and I love it.
But I'm very concerned that there seem not to be any simple way to sync with Outlook one of the worlds most common email and contact manager?
This is the first phone in a very long time starting with Treo 650 that will not sync directly with Outlook.
I'm using my phone in my business and need my Outlook sync so this could make me return it and get a iPhone 4 instead that will sync w/o any problems.
Is there any simple way that I have missed?
use manual settings and create an IMAP account?
How do I do that? My Outlook does not let me change from
POP to Imap?
If I only could sync my contacts I would be happy
For Corporate Exchange sync'ing, I paid for Touchdown. Works like a charm!!
For personal outlook account on my local computer, I use MyPhoneExplorer, and MyPhoneExplorer client on the Atrix....also works like a charm.
Hope this helps.!
The Atrix comes with Corporate Sync already installed. Go to your App Drawer -> Accounts and create a new Corporate Sync Account. I have mine set up and it syncs my calendar, contacts and email pretty much perfectly. You set it up using the webmail address and your login information, easier than I expected actually.
export all your contact to csv file and import back to ur gmail account, it will sync immediately
The Corporate Sync setting built in works. I had contacts synced within 5 minutes of getting the phone.

Yeah, but its too ugly in my opinion. And anyway, I desperately needed to sync my corporate Task-List as well. With Touchdown, the interface is awesome, and it syncs tasks/to-do list, and it also offers multiple widgets for each one of these components.
But for some, the free sync included in the phone is enough..
Syncing with Outlook directly is a terrible method. You should be syncing with the email server, either with IMAP or Exchange sync if it supports it. Who is your provider?
Either way, you should switch to Google Apps
