using ps3 controller with s1 - Sony Tablet S

Without rooting his xoom I saw a guy using a ps3 controller to play an emulator. He did have to use an otg cable but did not root his device. I tried connecting a mouse successfully but the ps3 didn't work. It does power on though. Any ideas?

Hmmmmmm. Well, the Sony tab runs the same os (3.1+) as the xoom. So, the otg cable should work fine. Though, it is only for a select amount of apps that support controller mapping. Now, connecting via bluetooth will not work. As far as I know, but if you're rooted an app like 'sixaxis' will allow for the dual shock via bluetooth! Now, seeing as this tablet has an ir port... the wii mote could be paired!!! There is an app in the market called 'wiimote'. Its free too!

I picked up an inexpensive PS3 controller too. No luck with the playstation games on the S.

USB otg + USB gamepad on mini pro supported?

I have seen some videos that livedock are supported on mini and live with walkman which makes mini pro supported too. It can be connected to a USB mouse, USB keyboard and a USB gamepad.
The problem is I dont know where can I find and buy livedock. So I consider on using USB OTG instead for a USB mouse, keyboard and gamepad.
Has anyone tried USB otg on mini pro? Does it recognised a USB mouse and USB keyboard and so on?

According to me, all 2011 Xperia models support USB OTG.
Will take a look later on some phones.

yeah i just took a research.
but what about connecting it to a usb gamepad?
Checked.
Mini pro does not support USB OTG. Although, it has support for LiveDock, so I am not sure, if USB gamepad would work or not.

how are you completely sure?
wait till someone try and test and confirm it.
I didn't say I am sure. According to official white paper, it doesn't have USB OTG. But it is supported by LiveDock, that's why I am not sure.

Make sure that you are in one of the 2.3.4 updates. This update gave the support for usb on the go. I haven't test it yet but according to other threads you should be able to use an adapter without having to use livedock. Also, i think, some kernels doesn't have support for usb on the go.

The receiver plugs into USB, and then the pads connect to that. It's a way to use the wireless pads on a PC.
I'll have to see if it can pick up multiple pads still

Oh I have seen the video of that on youtube. The reviewer said the trigger l2 and r2 of it doesnt worked for key mappings on fpse.
But im interested in connecting the USB otg with a USB hub. That way I can connect a USB keyboard, mouse and gamepad all together at the same time.
Though I still doubt it would work until someone try it

Just checked that, the triggers don't work. I hadn't tried to use them as the SNES didn't have that many
A hub should work as long as its powered

Don't forget that L2/R2 are big analogue triggers, I'm assuming something like http://www.amazon.co.uk/MEDIA-TECH-..._8?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1331386376&sr=1-8 would work

Sony_PLAYSTATION_R_3_Controller

[Q] Bluetooth controller on Amaze?

Does a bluetooth device like the wiimote work on the Amaze? I'm having no luck detecting the wiimote with the market apps (Wiimote Controller/RWiimote).
Only Bluez IME was at least able detect the device but I'm unable to connect to it. It's just stuck at "Connecting to <device address>".
From what I understand, this is because the bluetooth stack is missing the required HID profiles, and Bluez IME gets around that via the SPP profile. Has anyone successfully connected a Wiimote to the Amaze or is there a fix for it?
I think I was able to do so by using custom ROMs but from what I heard, wiimote doesn't like to connect to Sense devices. I can't confirm it since Sense 3.5 is missing bluetooth.
Sent from my HTC Amaze 4G
WiiMote doesn't work on Sense devices. Which sucks because we have a really nice screen.
You can try Sixaxis. I can't try it because I don't have a PS3. Hope they make one for the xbox 360 joystick.
I have tried sixaxis and it says my device is not compatible. I'm guessing there's no fix for this until a real custom rom built from scratch is released.
Thanks for the help.

I think unless you root your phone you may be better off buying an icontrolpad (www.icontrolpad.com) or a Phonejoy controller (www.phonejoy.us). Both work with Bluez-IME.
Those look pretty interesting. Which is better?

If so do you think something like this would work?

Well I downloaded the sixaxis comparability app and it said my phone will work with a PS3 controller. My main worry is will some $20 ebay offbrand controller work?
Its both bluetooth and it uses the regular PS3 drivers for compatibility with the PS3 so I dont really see why not I just dont want to drop money on something that wont work.

You'd be better off spending the extra $30 and buy a legit ps3 controller. If it doesn't work, then return it. You can get a used one from gamestop for like $35 or something.
Droidmote an app in the market if you have an old phone (Android) you can use that a controller and the Dev has tons of videos on how to make it work for any game I use my note as controller for my Acer a500 work like a charm plus it only 2 bucks

Just for the score I tried a fake controller from Amazon and it did not work, original Sony worked fine. Wish the games worked in analog with the analog sticks though. I only played Grand theft Auto and it wasn't that great. I understand ICS is supposed to be the key to being able to fully implement analog.
Okay so I went to game stop and asked them if I could test a controller and the six axis app said no device found. I tried a few things and I could not get it to work. I'm highly skeptical now.
I'm on CM9 but that should make no difference.

The Sixaxis work on the Galaxy Note so you must be doing something wrong. Did you install The Sixaxis Pair Tool on your PC and connect your controller to change the Bluetooth address? You cannot just turn them on and pair them you need to change the address from your PC. Here is a video tutorial http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTbc2Se5S3A&feature=youtube_gdata_player
Mine works and I am on CM9. I have 3 PS3 controllers paired.

No no no no no no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You MUST change the Bluetooth address on the ps3 controller using your COMPUTER. Otherwise it will search for its last paired ps3
OR just get micro USB cable to mini USB cable and CONNECT!

Do any Bluetooth controllers work?

I recently found out that wiimotes unfortunately don't work with galaxy players, because of samsung's proprietary Bluetooth stack (I hate how Samsung messes up the best features of android!). Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has better success with any other game controllers, particularly ps3 controllers? Or are our players fully incompatible with any game controller?

I have tried the ps3 controller and it works fine just download the sixaxis controller app from the market and the pair tool from their website http://www.dancingpixelstudios.com/sixaxiscontroller/tool.html
Run the app, look and the little number on the bottom after you push start then copy them down
go to your computer run the pair tool and copy the number from your phone to there and click update
ps3 controller should now be able to connect to your galaxy player
Great! Do you have to use the PC every time you want to use your controller with your galaxy player, or is it a one time step?

Well, the app was just updated to fix the error, so problem solved! One thing I am not certain about is this; I have read that if you buy a brand new ps3 controller, it will need to be paired to a ps3 before you can use it with this app. Now, I don't have a ps3, but could I buy a used ps3 controller that has already been paired to someone's ps3 and would that work?

I doubt it I see no reason that it needs to be paired with the ps3 when you connect a control to a ps3 it only gets the bluetooth address so you can use it with the console.
And beside you'll be changing that anyways with your computer. I doubt you'll need a ps3. I and if I'm wrong return the controller back.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Maybe a new remote has to be activated by a ps3 console or something though, who knows. I'll probably buy a used one anyway, since new ones cost a crazy amount of money, and it sounds like few third-party remotes work.
