Unlock bootloader and flash "rootxperia zip" via recovery. Its fastest way.

That's how I did it and all good. And really quick amd easy.
If the post makes little sense, read the various threads about Recovery, Bootloader unlocking and Root. It's all here.

I followed that and got "cannot download boot.img, device needs to be rooted first". Well,if I was rooted i wouldn't be doing that in the first place!?

You're doing something wrong then
You have unlocked BL?

Unlocking the boot loader is the way forward.
Sent from my LT15i using XDA App

Thanks for the replays, that was the problem. I thought it was unlocked, but actually wasn't. However I rooted, then installed CM 7 beta-nice,but still not ready for primetime. Now the question is what to do to return to stock rom-just flash it via flashtool? And will the root remain?

Clear/Reset Everything and then go through the procedure again (without re-unlocking BL obviously).
Follow the steps this time...
I suggest you use this ftf (Global 2.3.4) as it works perfectly.

Thanks again it worked flawlessly Now,do you know if there is a list or something about which system apps are safe to remove from the stock rom?

Are there still bugs with the doomlord kernel? I need WiFi absolutely, don't have a data plan...

The DoomKernel is to be avoided for now,as the Wifi and vibration are not working, tried it yesterday. I can live without the vibra, but Wifi is a must.

Hi, I think that what you are looking for is this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1186045
You switch the region of your phone and then SEUS should let u update.
Hint: You can edit the build.prop file using the flash tool, you will need a rooted 2.1 Android thou...
I forgot to tell ya man... I ran into some issues with the GPS using a pre-rooted rom, my phone is overheating due the very same problem...
I do find some things really slow (slower than Cyanogen GB) but is a good rom at the end and I will use SEUS to update my phone as soon as it will becomes available in my country... (México, Xperia X10a)

Those aren't methods, those are frontend for the rooting exploits, such as rageagainstthecage, GingerBreak, psneuter, etc.
And yes, as of now, there is no exploit that can breakthrough SE's Great Wall of Xperia.

Sony Xperia Go - rooted kernel

Hello everyone,
I finally managed to make rooted kernel for Xperia Go (ST27i).
I just want to mention, that I have unlocked bootloader and I didn't try is this kernel working with locked bootloader.
Requirements:
stock Sony 6.0.B.3.162 FW
unlocked bootloader
working fastboot
How to Flash:
download the rooted_kernel_ST27i.elf (sendspace.com/file/74xilq)
save it in the folder with fastboot binaries (fastboot.exe files)
power down device
start device in fastboot mode (hold volume up and plug cable)
and use the following commands to flash the kernel:
fastboot flash boot rooted_kernel_ST27i.elf
fastboot reboot
After restart, download and install busybox from market, and update superuser...
Update:
Rooted kernel .184 (without recovery )
It's work for me
Flash last firmware 6.0.B.3.184 using Flashtool
Download attach, and flash the kernel:
fastboot flash boot rooted_kernel_184_ST27i.elf
fastboot reboot
Click to collapse
I can't do this without:
DooMLoRD - I used his files from rooted kernel for Xperia P
Championswimmer - for tips and tool (ANDROID KERNEL KITCHEN 0.2.2)
Bin4ry - for tips
So, thanks to them
big thanks man. i will try it. little question: when will be rooted kernel for 6.0.B.3.184 too?
request fastboot.exe link
Great job driversax, many thanks. Too bad I updated to 184 yesterday. I'll either have to wait for a corresponding kernel or I'll have to find out how to downgrade again.

But I will check when I get back from vacation (4 days) and also I will try to make new rooted kernel for firmware 184 and maybe recovery

I confirm that you can install it over 184. Two caveats however:
- User data is wiped (I was under the assumption that a kernel flash keeps user data - is this generally not the case or only in this instance?)
- In About phone, the reported build stays at 184, but the phone offers to update over the air to 184 again, and after downloading, installing and rebooting, it complains that installation was unsuccessful. You cannot even remove the notification, it stays permanently in the status bar. I finally got rid of them by disabling the updater – thanks Driversax, finally I have root powers – and rebooting.
Battery life has been normal (or even better than previously) for me (using it less than 24 hours though).
---------- Post added at 06:09 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:02 AM ----------
Oh, and one more thing:
Droidwall doesn't work (iptables doesn't seem to be implemented on the Go - apparently not the oply Sony phone with this problem, although Xperia S is reported to have it). This was the prime reason for me to root the phone, so it's quite a bummer. But at least Titanium Backup works, and I can get rid of the bloatware (although, to Sony's credit, there are no overly intrusive or battery-draining apps).

Rooting Xperia S

Good day, XDA. I'd like to ask help with regards to rooting my Xperia S. I have recently bought this and it got shipped with ICS 4.0.4 and build number 6.1.A.0.45 and I updated its build number to 6.1.A.2.45. I have also unlocked its bootloader successfully. Now I'm having problems on how to root this. I've read certain posts regarding ICS rooting and they all state that it has to have 6.1.A.0.45 build number. But I don't know how to rollback to the previous build number. What should I do?? Please help..
Ciaossu!~

A little help with my Xperia Sola...

I've decided to root my phone... as far as I know I won't lose my warranty If I'll be rooted right?
So All I want is just root permissions... NO custom ROMS or Kernels.
I am using GB stock 6.0.B.3.184 firmware android 2.3.7
So Do I need to unlock my bootloader to root? Or I can proceed without doing that?
And could someone provide me with link how to root Xperia Sola with GB stock firmware?
Thank's

You can root without unlocking your bootloader. Bootloader need to be unlocked only if you want to flash custom kernels or roms like cm9,cm10, miui etc.
You can try this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
Confirmed on the first post that works on sola also. Hope works with gb also

How hard is it..? To unlock bootloader, As far as I know it can be done at Sony homepage, Whats the advantage of unlocking it and do it has any cons... already know that it means lost wariaty, and that's a risk.
And finally can bootloader be locked again? To make everything as it used to be?

[Q] Root Xperia Active, confused...

Hi!
I want to root my active but I'm afraid that I can brick it or something.
I have it with the stock rom and the compilation number is 4.0.2.A.0.84.
Can I follow this tutorial? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2118343
Or there is one specific for the version I have?
Sorry if this has been asked before but it's not very clear for me what to do to root the phone.
Thanks!
I would advise you to read my rooting guide (in the stickies in general forum) and to follow the method for 4.0.2.A.0.62. It's really easy, but instead of updating to .62 you will update over the air to .84 (I hope that's working!)

Unlocking bootloader and then rooting is the easiest way, unlocked bootloader will also provide manual settings of frequency which will indeed boost the phone. :good:
Root will avoid the warranty isn`t it . so whats the deal with unlocking the bootloader.

Unlocking is not the easiest way and it's not necessary. You are able too root without unlocking (check my guide, there are many methods) and you won't void your warranty, because after reflashing the stock rom, you can send it to the service center and Sony won't notice that it was rooted

Ya your guide is really helpfull and can root the phone without unlocking the phone. nice work sir...:good:
Well, first of all, many thanks for your contributions. Now I'm more confused. The main goal for me is to be able to free some internal space (remove stock applications?) Flashing custom ROM's is something I would like to but not necessary for now. So... for my first goal, I don't need bootloader unlock???
Added a question

Its up to you whether you want a locked bootloader or unlocked bootloader. If you use a locked bootloader you will be able to flash custom Roms but you will not be able to flash custom kernals. custom kernal basically will increase your phones performance.
Its your phone your choice brother.. Both the method are Perfect. My personal opinion is that you should use the rooting method with locked bootloader hence, it will not avoid your warranty (if you flash the stock rom again after flashing a custom Rom).

Hi mihahn,
I only had time to do this now and started looking at your thread and I need your help. Do I have to make all those steps described in section 2? Can you help me on this one?

Just try eroot first, it's the tool "for all firmware versions". It should work well! Download the tool and follow the instructions

Did you try it on .587 too?
If it's really not working, use the method for .587. There's a link to a tutorial by Abhinav2 and it should work then
