What do you like to use? - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What kernel do you like to use?
Stock CM7, Glitch, Or some of the older ones?
What frequencies do you also like to use as well?
What kernel would you like in Runnymede SII update of espresso rom?

depends on the quality of the hardware. and stop posting questions in the general section. this is like you're 10th post in the wrong section.

Well Captain Underpants, I see quite a few other questions posted in the general section. Why haven't you used your super hero powers to jump all over them? I swear some of you guys are like little girls in this place.

+1 lol......

Glitch ... I'm not a big fan of the "stock" kernel. I have been trying to get the Glitch kernel flashed with Espresso Runnymede SII but I cannot get to work. Is there anything special that I need to do in order to get the Glitch kernel flashed? I have flashed CM7.1 then flashed Espresso SII and then tried flashing Glitch but each time I only get to the Android splash screen and it never goes past that. Please help.
BTW ... I love your Rom. It is one of the better ones that I have flashed to my phone and I have tried them all. Just fix a lot of the fc's.

Dude don't get me wrong I love JT's work also and appreciate everything that he has done for the Fascinate. I just prefer a different kernel than his, no offense to anyone else.
I have been reading these forums for several months now and everyone always takes things so personal, most people on here love what they do and want to put out a great product for their phone and share in their profit.
I wish everyone would just get along and help each other out. Thanks to all the developers for their hard work and I appreciate everything that they have done.

im not tryin to be rude even tho is going to come off like that. just google it...the answer will come in less then a sec or ask on a help sticky. dont make a new thread because you might be feeling lazy. good luck with your new hobby
Easiest way to look at them. The Kernel is the brain, it is the control point. Everything goes through it.
ROM is more of what you see, the programs and such.
While it is much more indepth that's the basics of it. Just remember to never use either that is not built for your phone.

This doesn't belong in the development section, or any. A Google search would yield results. And if you don't know the difference, you shouldn't even consider rooting.

Your explanation helps. I have messed with linux kernels on my computer before, but I wanted to make sure about this because its my phone and not a spare pc during around. Lol

Well...
You have to admit, at least the subject is dead on.
Symptom of a larger issue, I believe...
We need to separate things a bit better. All the support for the ROMS going on in here seems to be confusing people?
Dev forum, release forum, support forum, perhaps? XDA is becoming a huge mess which explains the recent off-shoots.

Help me look like the gingerbread man.

Hey guys. So I'm working on my home screens and such and I just wanted to know if you guys could help me out by posting a bunch of stuff to get my beloved vibrant to look like its running gingerbread. And I know atleast one person will say to just flash a gingerclone or such but I'm not feelin it. So thanks in advance

There's probably mods for it, or someone can make them for you.

OF COURSE "there'd be one" People have spent countless hour to provide the community with exactly what you're asking for, but you're too lazy/ignorant to figure that out. Sorry if you're "not feeling it." Build something yourself.
What does this dude even want?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I'm that somebody that tells you to just root, get nero or gingerclone, rock microbes lwp and viola. If your not feelin it then put the work in for ur beloved vibrant. Root isn't hard and its easy to undo later if need be. Who's gonna look that closely anyway, and why does it matter. Theres a guy that I work with that has the nexus s and doesn't even try to flex on me. My Vibrant w/ nero is effin beast. Are you one of those guys that walks up and says "hey, look at my phone". Don't be a poser, come correct or not at all. And another thing, if you want answers be specific about what you need help with, not just, I want it to look like... I'm not trying to bust ur balls, just sayin.

Kernal question...

I seen some people signatures that their running roms like dj05, backhole, voodoo.. Etc..
Sometimes it seems they list more than just one kernal/rom..
Is that possible?
My understanding was 1 rom 1 kernal
Is there other combinations of roms and kernels?
Rocking dj05 and jt's voodoo 5
What's a kernal haha? JK
They are just posting what they 'cycle' through. You only boot ONE kernel and ONE ROM at a time.

[Q] What is the most stable ROM out there?

I have been getting a very high number of crashes and lock-ups lately. For awhile I was running the newest "leaked" AT&T ICS official build, so I tried switching to AOKP and I'm still getting the same problem. I had my phone completely lock up on me, requiring a battery removal and restart, within 10 minutes. So maybe I'm having device issues, but can someone recommend a ROM that is extremely stable, all other features be damned? At this point I'll take a gingerbread or ICS, doesn't matter at all. Thanks guys.
If your purpose is to determine if you have hardware problems, the best way to test would be to return the phone to stock.
Most stable?
STOCK

To the OP. SHOSTOCK 1.9.4 With Siyah 2.6.9 has been excellent.
To Nick281051, just as you get tired of post that you think are irrelevant, stupid,or just don't meet your approval. I get just as tired of you and others posting useless replies. It doesn't hurt to be helpful. I'm just saying.

I love this community. And what its goals are. Also I respect what it represents. Having said that, people need to read. I don't care if he PRESIDENT made an account here. If he posted a thread like this I'd tell him the same thing I'd tell someone else. These kinds of threads are discouraged by mods anyway. The most stable rom is whichever one works best for u and suits your needs.
Also, Nicks replies aren't useless. They serve a purpose. U have to think globally, not juzt locally.

In this situation
being helpful does nothing as every phone runs everything differently. I help when there's an actual issue that can't be solved in seconds with a search. Don't care if you think my replies are useless, they aren't.

I understand PG what you have done for the community, but where does it stop? I also know each phone will react differently to each rom and kernel. Just as frustrating as it is for senior members/Developers get tired of what they determine are useless post, why can't they just ignore it if they deem it to be so? Or how about PM'ing RED5 and reporting.BTW Shostock 1.9.4 was a suggestion which the OP asked for.
I feel bad for closing this guys thread who genuinely seems to be trying to resolve his issue, but the trolls already beat me to this thread...
To herogothamneeds: I would try flashing back to GingerBread KH7 found here. Its was one of the most stable stock releases yet. If your phone continues to crash, its a hardware problem. If you have any other questions, please either PM me or start a new thread and hopefully some nice users will be able to help guide you in the right direction.
