[Q] [CM7] Wierd buzzing sound... - TouchPad General

I installed CM7 and it's working flawlessly and very impressive. But lets say I'm listening to music and the screen turns off, there is a weird buzz from the speakers while playing the music or podcast. The second i turn on the screen ( by pressing home or the power button) the buzz noise goes away.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue too? Not sure what the fix would be.
Any help or input really appreciate it.

I have also noticed this. It does it when I'm playing Pandora or Grooveshark with the screen dark (locked, although I don't think it actually locks because I never see a lockscreen).

I notice this too but only in the split second that the speaker starts up.

I remember somebody saying if u clock the min CPU above 385 it goes away. Cured my sleep of death issue.

A Great Workaround
I had the same issue. I then found this post.
The sound quality is much better out of the built-in speakers and the buzzing/ distortion is minimalized when the screen powers down. Now the distortion only occurs when volume is above 3/4 of it's maximum and ONLY when the screen powers off.
In addtion, this has fixed distortion created when using the DSP equalizer.

Headset pause/play button not working in standby

Hi.
I have the new Samsung Galaxy S II and am mostly pleased with it.
I'd like to address one of the annoying issues I'm having though:
When I plug in the headset and listen to music or audio books the pause/play button on the headset works while the music is playing back.
However, when I pause and wait for a while I cannot use the button to continue playing anymore.
I assume that the phone went to sleep and is not "listening" to the button anymore. I think this is a general issue and not only present on the SGSII, though.
Are you having this problem too?
Is there a way to make the phone react to the pause/play button so it continues playing even if it is in sleep mode?
If so, would enableing this have a noticable effect on battery life?
I should notice I both use the default music player app and also at times another app called Subsonic to play music (the latter streams the music from my NAS that I do not have directly on the phone). The problem is also apparent in the default music player.
Thanx in advance!
(I tried to add a [Q] in the title afterwards but i cant anymore
P.S.:
I moved from the LG Optimus Speed and the SGSII is much better, and its quite nice overall, but there are some issues:
- The device can easily get too hot for my taste. I understand that it has a powerful processor and if it is used much it is bound to happen when you tax the cpu much (such as when navigating or playing games), but:
I notice it happens for instance just when I scroll on the home screen. Whereas when I play audio or even video (at least in case of standard sd video) it barely gets wormer.
So I think there is lots of room to optimize and use less resources in so the heat problem is less prominent.
- I think I too am affected by the battery drain issue of the Android OS process to a degree. It is not as prominent as others have it, but i think it's still too high.
- When taking photos i have the red dot problem (both in the preview and the taken photos). It is not evident when taking videos. Apparently its a whitebalance issue. I updated to KE7 and it is still there, but only notciable when for instance pointing at a white wall.
- The screen is gorgeous but has a blue tinge. It is not noticable when looking directly at the screen unless the display is white. However it gets noticable when looking at the screen at an angle.
From what I found out its common with amoled displays to compensate for the increased loss of brightness of blue pixels, so i guess it will get fainter with time.. but still.. I hope samsung is able to improve on this with their new amoled display factory which is planned to be used sometime this summer which promises displays that use less power and have a longer life-time...
My nexus one begins playing music while in sleep mode from the button on my headset, so maybe its an issue with the galaxy s2.
Well, I had the same problem on my LG Optimus Speed, thats why I assumed it is not specific to the SGSII.
Anybody else having this issue?
How to solve it?
Try holding down the button. I know when I use my headphones once it has been paused, to get it to start back up I have to hold onto for a bit. I use the headphones given with the SGS II and the Google Music player.

--> or sometimes double/tripple klicking the button works.
I tried it with the built-in music player, WinAmp and PowerAMP and it always continues the music; even after a very long sleep
Thanx for your help, that did it!
Another question:
Is it somehow possible to use the button to go the previous or next track?
I know there are bluetooth headsets that have buttons for that.. but with the standard cable headset there is just the one button...

As far as I have tried, I haven't found a way to get the standard headphone controls to go to the previous or the next song.
Hope this helps.

I can confirm that the headphone button has changed from S1 in the S2. Normally no issues between standby or not on the S1, but on the S2 it seems different and much more issues unpausing
Pause = 1x short
Unpause within 2 sec after pausing = 1x short
Unpause after 2sec = 1x long or 2x shortly (differs ... sometimes no resume :s)
Next Track, during play = 2x short
Hi
try something like these (from Market):
Headset Droid
Headset Button Controller
[]'s
Official Solution:
I spent over an hour on this.
Download Headset Button Controller, THEN: go to Advanced, way bottom "Advanced settings", and "Prevent sleep mode". Also have Run in foreground checked.
Another thing that might help is downloading "SoundAbout", an app that overrides the kernel's decision on whether there's a mic attached with the headphones, and will override just about everything else related to audio routing as well.
+1 if this helps! :good:

[Q] Slight audible sound from speakers

I can somewhat frequently hear a slight "hum" or "buzz" after interacting with the UI- For example clicking a link in the browser will play the short click sound and then there will be the soft buzz for 3-4 seconds after
It's speaker related as if it's muted it doesn't happen. but if the volume is right down it does.
Anyone else notice this? Is it normal? I'm sure in a noisy environment I wouldn't notice at all, and it isn't noticible ifplaying anything longer than a few seconds.

Adjusting call volume problem

Hi guys,
anyone else having problems with adjusting the call volume (while in a call) ?
The screen obviously turns black while in a call, and then, the volume buttons don't work for me...
I have to move the phone from my ear, screen turns on, adjust volume.
This drives me nuts !
Any help is much appreciated.
Yep just noticed this today when I was on a call. Seems strange that you can't do that but you can change the volume of music when the screen is locked?
same thing here. hope they fix it

Correct, it does work for music, I have noticed that as well...
What's up with that ?! Isn't it like the very first thing you should check before releasing a phone to the market ?? Even if it's software related (and it is, in this case) at least the Vendors should test this.
And, I know what I am talking about
I guess that with all the technology, it is forgotten, that above all, well... this is a PHONE.
Hope the fix it.
Ive also noticed that you cant adjust the volume when the screen is locked.
AND every call i make/receive the volume is always at the max and extremely loud. So i have to right away turn it down. That happen for anyone else?

[Q] Audio is self-adjusting

I flashed 12.1 (Nightly 4/28) a couple of days ago from CM11 (Snapshot M9). Overall, I like it except for one glaring issue. For some reason, the audio seems to self-adjust no matter what. I initially encountered this while I was calling. The incoming volume would suddenly get painfully loud, like it was a max, so I would hit the volume down button several times and then about 15 seconds later, the volume shoots back up again. On top of that, the volume also goes back down to where I was expecting it, so it kept fluctuating from quiet to loud.
I also tested this just playing music. I played a song, adjusted the volume to max, and then slid the slider down to about hitting volume up three times. It was quiet for a little bit and then just went right back up to a significantly louder volume. Tested this with the plain "music" app and Google's Play Music app. I have AudioFX disabled as well.
Just tested the inverse of this where I went from low to high volume and it seems that it wants to keep a certain loudness. I guess similar to how there was that one feature that you could enable in previous versions to prevent hearing damage when wearing headphones.
I just tested this with headphones as well and the anomaly doesn't seem to happen.
Anyone know if there are any fixes or is this just a side effect from it being a nightly build?

After doing a few minutes of research, it seems people with the OnePlus One are also having this problem on CM11:
http://forums.androidcentral.com/t-...galaxy-s3-volume-going-crazy.html#post4342611
https://jira.cyanogenmod.org/browse/BACON-2309
This user notes that the volume setting to make ringtones gradually louder may be causing the issue for them:
https://jira.cyanogenmod.org/browse/BACON-3026?jql=text ~ "volume"
I don't see too much on CM12.1 at the moment on the bugtracker except for this on a Z3:
https://jira.cyanogenmod.org/browse/NIGHTLIES-1147?jql=project in (CYAN, NIGHTLIES)
So for anyone else who is curious, I did a little more digging between my college finals and found that it seems to be a Lollipop thing, not just a CM thing. I guess the only thing we can do is hope either the CM team or Google comes up with a fix for I guess what would be called 5.2 or 5.1.5.
all 26+ builds 12.1 have this bug

Volume/audio lowers automatically?

Hey guys. I've been getting annoyed by the audio lowering itself when watching videos. Happens on any player, but especially on Youtube. Like I have the volume on about 60%, sounds great, and then it just cuts down the volume to let's say 40% while it is still set to 60%. Has anyone ever experienced this? It's extremely annoying and it happens after about a minute of watching a video.
Thank you!

I have the same on YouTube, just pause the vid for a few seconds and the volume returns..... it's a nasty bugggggg
Wait what ...! That's a bug i was tooling my self al this TIME ..i always notice that sound sometimes feels too low at max vol ...i though its surrounding noise marking sound less audible ..huhh i also blame doob settings ...lol
Awful bug with 9.1, on mine mate 20 x it's the same issue.
I reported this to Huawei months ago.
Experiencing the same(?) issue:
When my volume is set quite low and I play a video or even just music on the stock music player app, it plays normal for about 10 seconds and then the audio gradually (during about 2 seconds) lowers to less than half the original set volume and then it stays low like that.
The volume slider itself stays the same.
Like demon2112 suggested, pausing the playback for a short moment (at least 3 seconds) indeed fixes the issue but then again 10 seconds later the issue comes back.
I don't think the issue happens when the volume is set higher; only on low volumes levels.
Also, I'm pretty sure it is only the bottom speaker which lowers in volume.
If I listen only to the earpiece (by blocking the bottom speaker), it does not appear to change.
Is this the same for you guys?
Issue still happens on 9.1.0.323

Nope.
On Android 9.0 it worked perfectly
I face this bug also. It is very annoying. It's like the sound "moves" to the earspeaker. I am on .180
I have the same problem. 9.1.0.358. Maybe there is some system settings we could tinker with?

I tried everything in sound settings and settings related to sound or multimeedia in dev options. Tried both on android 9 and 10. None of that worked. I saw somewhere that it can be resolved by turning off stereo+ option but there is no option like that on this phone. When I was using beta of android 10 I reported this issue several times and as we can see with no positive resultat.
Fix for me
Turn sound+ on, switch Dolby from Smart to music with flat eq

Where can I find sound+ option?
Any solution for this. Been having this issue since I upgraded the software.
I have EMIUI 10.1 on my Mate 20 pro and still no fix.
So EMUI 10.1 isn't a real update. Some cosmetic changes, thats all.
