I am thinking about running the MIUI room that just recently came out on ROM manager, but I don't want to flash it if I cannot get back to stock and not receive the GB update when it comes.
Is there a reliable way to get back to stock yet? I have tried making a backup of my current state but every time that I do my X2 restarts...
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Yes you can get back to 100% stock.. There is a flashable SBF that does it.

I don't think MIUI is available for the X2. Check the X2 development forums. The SBF thread in particular. The answer yo your questions are there.

I think the naming conventions of Droid's has caused a lot of confusion. Many things have been released for the Droid X and the Droid 2 at the same time, leading people to post about updates to the Droid X/2, which in fact is not the Droid X2.
I know MIUI is available, it is on ROM manager on my X2. And I found out about the imminent GB update on the X2 general forum.
So unless there are a lot more people than me "confused" by the names of Motorolas Phones, than I think it is probably true that GB will be here as a 2.3.4 build soon enough. I think that is why not much development has been done on this phone, why develop on Froyo when GB comes out so soon?

I haven't heard of any X2 owner using ROM Manager. A far as I can tell, to date, there are only derivatives of that chinese ROM floating around. I would research more before you flash whatever you see in ROM Manager. Unless you are skilled enough to un-brick your phone.
But hey... Let me know how that works out for you.

I will see what the DEV part of the forum says, but I will probably try to flash it tonight.
I will let you know how it goes.
Rom manager its probably seeing your phone as the atrix. You don't want to download a rom for the atrix, it will not work and you will be forced to sbf back to stock. There is currently only one rom fire the x2 and at least 3 others in the works.

Miui is most definitely not out for the x2.... but I guess it wouldn't hurt to try since you can easily unbrick

Yeah, it didn't work. Reflashed to stock. At least I tried I guess. I cannot wait until GB comes out on this thing. I wanna play with some roms and customize this thing.

Yeah I downloaded it from ROM manager and tried flashing it. It got about 2/3 of the way through the install and rebooted.
Had to go back to stock. A slightly annoying process, but i figured I may as well try and let the community know the results.

Anyone get in touch with p3 to test his modified 2.3.3 update.zip?
His tweet was about 3 hours ago so I am assuming he has passed it out to a couple people now.
my thoughts is that it didn't work and now he's keeping quite but who knows
I think he's busy he isn't on Twitter all the time lol
I tweeted him back and said I would test it but did not hear back.
He's out of town so probably busy, expect to hear back when he's not busy.

I assumee p3s zip is pre rooted? how about for the people that went ahead and updated, any promising root methods in the works?

did some searching, and i think i found the script for it, i have yet to test it, kinda scared to...ill do it when i really need to
P3droid just tweeted again for a dx2 to be tested. I replied and will see if he gets back to me. This time he put up his email. I think we are getting close to having a rooted GB!!!!!
Hit P3droid up also, no response... Im sure he's gotten a couple hundred emails tho... Waitin to see what happens...

Delete me please....just another useless thread after I followed the links. This used to have a link to a purposed boot loader unlock for the X2 but it is just a link to the Atrix instructions.

Looks like no one there wants to even try it. One guy said P3droid would've seen that already and commented on it if it would work. But who knows...

I kinda doubt he would know or not, it would be a lot of speculation on his part. He doesn't even have an X2.
Its only a theory, and i'm not promising anything
He got a pre-rooted GB for x2 without having one which is impressive.

Good to hear. I mean its nice to have one now, but one that's specificly for our for phone & not a patchup from another phone would be great. Even better if we wouldn't have to plug it in every time you wanna flash something
The one on this forum works for me. you might not be able to pass it which file to update to while into android, but i got eclipse installed without an SD card. Tryin to find a reason to believe in the x2 instead of my bolt. worked nicely. The one click root on droid-life for moto devices works like a charm too. had to use that instead of gingerbreak like the thread specifies.

I'm confused as to how this works.
I originally had the MOTODX2 Bootstrap Signed apk installed which requires you to ensure the X2 is plugged into a wall outlet to boot into a recovery menu.
I just purchased Rom Mananger and saw that there was a Clockworkmod recovery for X2, so I downloaded it, but how do I get into it? I can only get into the MOTODX2 Bootstrap recovery menu. Or, is that what the Clockwork Mod is?
I'm usually adept in doing these things (I had no problem with my LG Vortex). However, I don' t know exactly what the purpose of the Clockworkmod Recovery is versus the MOTODX2 Bootstrap recovery I have. Anything? How to do I boot my X2 into the Clockworkmod Recovery?

I think they're having trouble with trying to get it working and that's why koush needs to borrow a DX2.

He said that he got it going, but didn't wanna release it because it supposedly has to be used the same way as the one we have now, plugged in haven't heard anything since

Back to my original question, what exactly is the difference between the MOTOSigned Boot loader and the Clockworkmod recovery?
And, is there a way to boot INTO the Clockworkmod recovery? I can't seem to find a way to do it on the X2.

He originally put up a recovery image and said it was supported and it didn't work for anyone. We have no further updates.

I've always appreciated having the option of rebooting into recovery on the "phone options" when powering off. Typically if I have already used the dx2 bootstrap into recovery previously I can just power down when im plugged in and ill reboot into cwm...and my old dx and other phones I've seen have it typically. Pretty sure its doable.
So if anyones up for adding it to your list of things to do id be extatic.

We don't have an official bsr. In order for the reboot recovery to work, i think the script calls for Koush's signature, or something like that, and our recovery doesn't have the proper sig. Not only is it a hacked up recovery, it's an ancient one. I don't see recovery ever being added, unfortunately.

We were all excited for a while when koush got an x2 bout a month or two ago thinking we would finally get a "real" x2 recovery option. Its a little frustrating to see almost EVERY moto phone except for us have that option. And the only "real"x2 difference between our phone and others is our tegra2. I can't see that being the reason we can't get this option. It Has GOT to be doable if someone would just put the work/time into creating it.
Well, don't they have one for the Xoom? We need to see if we can port some of the Xoom hacks. The only difference REALLY are honeycomb and the screen size(right?).

For inquiring minds they're don't know, an unlocked bl allows you to flash cwm to become THE recovery; no bsr or hacked jobs needed.

Ya well even though we aren't unlocked...it would seem that some sort of autorun sequence for the two commands in the dx2 bootstrap could be programmed to run one after the other in the background at the push of a button on that menu. But it couldn't really be that simple -_-

Logic seems airtight. I mean, if you can push the button in System Recovery and it'll boot to charge mode or recovery mode then why can't the same commands used to perform that action be used as a reboot recovery option. I'm no dev. I would imagine if it was that easy, it would've been done by now.
"Reboot widget" from the market is a good alternative for now....

Seems to me the charge mode is the weakest link in the chain. The normal boot sequence is dependent on encryption and system checks, the battery animation doesn't require so much security. It would make sense to me, after reading the cvpcs blog about 2nd init, they could use 2nd init to hijack normal boot, but that sounds like a total pain in the ass.

ya XOdus...with nitro and masta being basically the only two devs for the dx2 I figured I'd just throw this out there and hopefully someone reads it. If i were savoy with making roms I'd be all over it, but hopefully just my train of thought may help someone with their endeavors in making their rom worth while. Nitro put our bootstrapper in his "eclipse parts" so I would imagine he might be interested in advancing farther.
We have it on the bionic. We're locked plus have to use a bootstrap. Ask around in that forum....

Not true kejar is also working on the x2 he's just busy cause he has the x, d2, x2, d3, and bionic to deal with. We should see liberty 3 by mid week or at the end of the week

I only used the xda app after my laptop broke, but even now with it working I still use my phone haha
Would be cool to get the option to reboot to recovery in the power menu.

I can do it but you still have to be plugged into the wall. I found it kind of pointless since you need the app to toggle it back to charge mode if needed.
