Oh.. another question... of all the ROMs you have tested, which one you recommend me, im a noob in all this world.. i have heard a lot of good comments on the CM7, but also some bugs since is not officially suported for our Atrix.

I am right now using the aura rom, which is magnificent! either that one or Darkside rom (based of aura with a few more features) I would first try aura, there are three versions, do you like the stuff motorola includes on your phone?
the darkside rom is similar but has all the moto stuff built into it plus some nice tweaks. Both allow fingerprint sensor whereas CM7 has features missing. If you are looking for stock android ( not stock motorola) minus figerprint scanner then CM7 is better for you.
I personally like the moto stuff, so I chose Aura, only because darkside had some issues with 2.2, but he just upgraded to 2.5 so I am going to try that tonight! I will definitely repost my thoughts.
Don't forget to backup (titanium backup) and when you are installing a custom always pull a wipe from recovery, and a wipe of dalvik cache (in romracer recovery, its under advanced), and make sure your battery levels are 100% or you will have to wipe your battery settings from rom and cycle your battery .
Hope this helps!

atrix bootloader unlock
Hi i'm new and the worst noob ever concerning phones but i have a question: so if i get it right unlocking the boot loader will allow you to be able to use any phone carrier on the Atrix ?
Ps: i hope it's the right place to ask that question.....

You're mixing up two different concepts.
Unlocking the bootloader will allow you to install any compatible ROM such as CM7. If you go down this rabbit hole, make sure you read everything about it 3 times over so you avoid bricking your device permanently.
Unlocking the SIM card will allow you to use your phone on any compatible carrier (GSM network) such as T-Mobile, but you will not get 3G/4G data speeds and it will not work on CDMA networks used by Verizon/Sprint.

[Q] Motorola Atrix Re-lock Bootloader

I may have to return my ATRIX due to Let'sTalk horrible customer service, but I was wondering if there is anyway to re-lock the Bootloader, or to hide the fact that it says, Unlocked. Thank you in advanced
Also, I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section, as this is urgent to me and I have yet to see any otherpost relating this topic.
There is another topic like this.
No you can't re-lock and no you can't "hide" the unlock wording. Sorry.
Sent from my AWESOME Atrix
Assume you installed 2.3 using CWM, if that is the case, you can flash the stock 1.8.3. Because the bootloader is not compatible with the unlocked phones, it won't show the "unlocked" text when you turn on the phone. I have tried it when I was trying to get rid if the unlocked text.
The down side is, you won't be able to flash custom ROM until you flash a compatible bootloader.

But downgrading will hard brick the phone.be very very carefully.
Reflash To Stock
Unfortunately, there is no way to relock a bootloader. Hence all of the warnings when you committed
but, if you use 4.5.91 the software at the address below should reinstall the newest stock software...
direct.motorola.com/hellomoto/motosupport/source/SoftwareUpdateSelect.asp?country=USA&language=ENS
be careful because Im not sure how motorola update will react to an unlocked bootloader. Ask around...do so at your own risk.
If you want to try a harder, albeit, safer method, and you are sure that you do not have a phone running 4.1.5.91, you can restore your phone to a factory SBF with this process:
briefmobile.com/motorola-atrix-4g-system-boot-file-sbf-leaked
DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES TRY TO RESTORE A 4.5.91 system to stock with RSD LITE.
To go to any of the blue webaddresses above, copy-paste them into your browser. Sorry, but I am not allowed to post links yet.
I wonder why nobody has created a CWM downgrade for US Atrixes. NFHimself made one for Bell or international users to go to 2.2.2 Bell and it works really well. Pretty much every partition is replaced. Great for masking that your boot loader is unlocked. Someone should probably do that for ATT to make downgrading less risky than flashing an sbf again...

The downgrading and hard brick problem stems from using the OTA update, so you won't hard brick if for example you upgraded with KP's 4.5.91.
You also should be able to flash the 4.5.91 SBF. You just can't downgrade. There are other threads about this.

The reason the fruitcakes were created and deemed safe by the devs were because it didn't touch the BL, which people believe to be the culprit behind the hard bricks. NFhimself was brave enough to testing flashing the BL via cwm in his gobstopper on international phones, but I don't think any other devs are willing to risk hard bricking their phones by testing that theory on US phones.
There also isn't enough "reward" for doing so because if people want to downgrade they can use a fruitcake. The only gain is to get rid of the "unlock" text. But if you were really that concerned about it despite reading all the warnings of this will void you warranty, you shouldn't have unlocked in the first place.

Hi,
One of the reasons I did up a default CWM of 2.2.2 is to have a means of doing a reset after trying all ATT/ORANGE/TELSTRA/MOVIESTAR/etc firmwares out there which may have side effects or accumulated side effects. Hence the inclusion of the stock bootloader and radio and a write of the extra partitions to clean up whatever mix and match leftovers are in there from the various carriers. The other big one is just to be able to get a Bell OTA applied when it comes out, it will probably be similar to the leak, but best to be safe.
This is more of a Bell/Intl issue as ATT folks tend to run just ATT firmware or flash just boot and system via CWM/fastboot and don't have the same issues as flashing a sbf file.
Both the stock 2.2.2 and leaked ap20 OTA bootloaders from Bell are safe to flash after IHOP, this is not the case with ATT bootloaders and may be the case for any included in a sbf file. Finding out the hard way is not an option.
Cheers!

Unlocking Bootloader After Rooting

I have just rooted my phone. I wonder if I can unlock bootloader after rooting?
If I can, which way is the easiest way?
And also I want to know the benefits of unlocking Bootloader.
I want to add that I don't know so much about doing so complicated things, please know that while informing me.
I really appriciate your answers...

if you're on AT&T, you can use this script here that does it all for you: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1182871
if you're on an international Atrix, you can use RSD Lite to flash the pudding .sbf file that can be found here, and then do the fastboot oem unlock command.
So, I can unlock BL after rooting? I got that.
Can someone tell me what it is, what happens If I unlock Bootloader? What are the benefits? Why do people do that?

rooting has nothing to do with it, rooting just gives your phone root access to system files.
unlocking the bootloader opens up our ability to flash custom ROMs onto our phones, as well as allowing us to put a custom recovery on our phone.
if you're satisfied with stock gingerbread, don't worry about it and just go on using your rooted phone.
if you wish to try out some awesome ROMs like CM7, then go ahead and unlock your bootloader. you're going to have to re-root afterwards, but that's super easy to do on our phone, and most ROMs come pre-rooted anyways.
"""if you wish to try out some awesome ROMs like CM7, then go ahead and unlock your bootloader. you're going to have to re-root afterwards, but that's super easy to do on our phone, and most ROMs come pre-rooted anyways."""
Yes I definitely want to try CM7 because Im sick of laggy Atrix. I read a lot about it but I learned that Fingerprint isnt working with CM7, so I decided to wait. But if they fix all of the bugs I will try that.
You said re-root is supereasy after unlocking BL. I have rooted my atrix with the topic of this link : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1255548
Is there any different way? or the same way again?
You ve read my thoughts about the phone, what do you suggest to me to do?

yep, just re-root with that method and you'll be just fine.
i'd suggest for you to go ahead and unlock your bootloader, and install Romracer's CWM which can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1204500
after that, just choose a ROM from the dev forum. Aura is really polished, Alien looks cool. any of the one from seanzscreams is gonna be nice and speedy for you, they've all been converted to EXT4 so you'll get better performance.
i'd still personally suggest CM7, fingerprint scanner is working on internal builds from what i understand so it shouldn't be too long of a wait for it to be updated

once SIM unlocked, you're always SIM unlocked.
anyways, use the script i gave you in the first post to unlock your bootloader, just download it and open it up and follow the instructions.
after you're done unlocking, go to RomRacer's CWM that i linked you, and install it with fastboot.
after that, you can download any ROM you want in a flashable .zip file, and flash it with CWM.
You mean, I have to install RomRacer's CWM to install CM7?
And how can I update CM7 when they fix something like fingerprint sensor?

yes, you need CWM installed to install CM7. and to update to the newest version of CM7 you just flash the new update over your system with CM7, and it updates your system for you. easy as that.

[Q]Help me decide, to Unlock or not to?

Hey!
Today I recieved my new t-mobile uk Atrix, sent to me from England.
Before I got it I had a HTC Desire, rooted, CWM installed and running custom AOSP roms with 2.3. I really liked that setup, minimalistic and no useless bloatware.
I've tried to read up on the matter, but it's a jungle..
This is how I understand it:
If I update to stock 2.3, it will be harder to unlock it and install custom roms in the future. This is wrong, it would in fact be much easier.
There probably won't be any AOSP roms, because the Atrix is quite different from the other phone, with the webtop and fingerprint reader (which i probably wont even use)
If it wasn't for all the red warning text, it would already be unlocked and romed. So what to do? Unlock and search through the masses for a bugg free deblurred 2.3 rom, or just update with the stock update and run with Zeam launcher instead? Can you install a stock rom on a unlocked bootloader?
Any ideas? Other suggestions?
Thanks for your help!

i'd say go for it, just do your research beforehand. it's a pretty simple process, just flash the corresponding pudding .sbf and run the 'fastboot oem unlock' command while in fastboot mode.
then you can proceed to flash a copy of CWM Recovery and install CM7, which is as AOSP as it gets! it doesn't have Fingerprint Scanner or Webtop yet, but Top Men are working on it so expect it all up and working before too long!
Thank you for the respons!
so I basically do what this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1196747) says?
Also, I saw a video where the person warned not to run RSD if you weren't on the newest, non gingerbread, release of stock. I assume that applies to t-mobile users aswell?

You and me both. I've had mine for a while (March) and have yet to take that leap. So far, running 2.3.4 O.T.A. w/root I am pretty satisfied. While I am certain that the experience would be greatly enhanced by flashing a different rom. I am simply too much of a chicken to take that leap. I've messed with a few other Android devices and was never too worried when flashing roms. But geez, all of those brick stories around here...
Whichever way that you decide to go, I am sure that you will be fine. The best of luck to ya.
Can anyone just confirm that I need to stuff in this order:
Root it.
Unlock bootloader using this method
Install a CWM, (probably gonna go with RomRacers)
Install a ROM.
ok i did the ota to 2.3 eventually used the autoscripter in general to root/unlock and aosp roms are starting with the cm7 beta once they have finished product its open game so far on cm7 beta myself totally worth it

You will lose 4G by unlocking your bootloader. However, there have been methods to run other roms and retaining 4G...it's a process for sure, and your phone won't be updated. The only exception to this is Joker's skinny ROM..check the Dev section. He has a ROM that you can flash through Boostrap Recovery...I think it has been tested, but I'm not sure: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331648

1-SBF to stock base. Root your phone, unlock bootloader, install custom recovery and perform a nandroid backup of your stock rom!
2-Flash KDDI radio from recovery.
3-Flash your ROM. You may need to enable GSM/UMTS in your mobile network settings. You also may need to enable data roaming and set your APN's.
4-Profit! If all you wanted was the unlock then your done! otherwise...
I dont want to get lost in his 50 pages and wanted to reach out to the Photon portion of this community for a slower...more detailed "How-To" for someone like me. LOL.

so its easy once you do it once. 1st. unlock the boot loader (http://youtu.be/YCv4RzO2324). 2nd. root your device(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xAYkejI4CE&feature=share&list=PLDE378F92431C38DF). 2.2nd get rid of the sprint verification stuff. ( google it, you'll need root explorer to do so.) 3rd. install clockworkmod( the middle of the video [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UfJJ0h4d-80&feature=share&list=PLDE378F92431C38DF]). 4th. find a rom that will work with this hack.( the link is on the instructions page.) and 5th. back up using clockworkmod. 6th. flash the gsm exploit first and then flash the new rom. this is how i did it and after trial and errrrrrrrrr i finally got it but i redid it and it took me about 2 hours on a single battery while taking care of my kids and cooking. hit me up if you got questions.

That's what I did and am now using my MoPho on Tmobile network with PTEL.
On a side note you don't have to flash peetr's ROM I am just using the USC one from the first SBF(step 1).
