ICS Has Been Ported to the Nexus S - HTC Amaze 4G

That's great news! That gives everyone some sort of hope for a port of course once rooted. The article can be found at Engadget.

SDK or not I would love to play around with it even though its not fully functional. Its cool just to know that someone already ported it. I would love to see the port run on both the GS2 and Amaze. We definitely have the hardware to support the software.

The GN is actually using the Nexus S gpu according to Engadget. Isn't the Nexus S gpu inferior to ours (Amaze 4g and Galaxy S II)?

eheh
but i think the sdk got incopleted....so we need to wait more a few days

Remember this we don't have a kernel so it'll be impossible to boot it on the amaze now . Once we get kernel then we could get porting & remember it's only a SDK so there will be no calling , texting or anything for that matter .

Met Google employee with ICS on Nexus S few days ago.

DL that's because there porting icecream to all nexus device's first then other device's .

Well, looks like we're officially getting Sense 3.6

I know there has been speculation, and this is exactly what I was expecting, but it looks like HTC is trying to put some of Sense 4 in the Sense 3.6 update for us:
***This is a review on the Sensation, but we can expect the same thing with the similar build specs of our phone***

It isnt about the hardware, at least not from the ram/cpu/gpu perspectice, as the htc one v will get sense 4.0.

Actually a model of the "one" won't be getting 4.0 either... The "one" without the new camera stuff.

That's right. The One "V" will come with Sence 3.6
when the launch it we finally have drivers for the camera,so the dev/rom builders here on the board can fix the percent rom whit ICS
Not a surprise. It'll be as it always is. And we will still be able to run 4.0 after a few more things are fixed.

its got 4.0 on it actually according to HTC's site. I know a bunch of blogs and such said it was 3.6 but actual spec sheet lists 4.0. Might be a trimmed 4.0 but still 4.0.
http://www.htc.com/www/smartphones/htc-one-v/#specs
Sucked that device was out of commission at MWC as all the blog's that did hands on reviews of the One Series said the V wasn't working so all we got is the lil promo video from what ive seen.
Also interested to see what exact chip it has in it. All anyone can confirm is that its a 1GHz chip but everyone is all over the place saying if its S3 or S4 based. I'd think itd be S4 based but dunno for sure.
Ahh. Ok, I stand corrected.

If they did, then we just need a CM Dev to step up and dev!!
I know that not all devices get a dev, that is why there are "KANG" versions out there. Individual Dev does the work from CM source, but is not officially supported by the CM team.
Only time will tell.

Sense Port to the S4?

Is anyone working on a Sense rom port for the S4? The specs on the One and the S4 are almost identical, but I am no rom maker so I really have no idea if it would be easy to port or not.
I know, you sense haters are going to chime in "ERMAGAWD, Y WOULD U WANT SENSE, IT SUX. TOUCHWIZ/AOSP 4 LYFE", I think it looks pretty cool and I bet some of us (including me) would love to try it out on our S4's.
So has anyone heard anything? Or if you are working on a port, hows it going?
Nobody is going to waste their time since it will never work correctly.

I know a while back there was a team working to port sense to the unlocked Galaxy Nexus. I actually ghetto ported an alpah to run it on my VZW GNex just to check it out. It never went anywhere because the developers said that the CPU and GPU in the GNex, not being Qualcomm, basically made it impossible to get the rom to work 100%.
With the S4 and the One being almost identical when it comes to hardware it seems like it would be completely possible. I guess only time will tell.

Custom ROMs aren't held back by legal issues as far as I know. People ported basically every UI to the HTC HD2 and no one ever got in trouble (That I know of at least)
Depends on what you are looking for. They have ported the sense launcher before on a Sprint Rom for the S3. But sense is made up of a lot of APKs that function together. This makes it hard to port over, and if it is ported it would probably crash a lot. But getting things like the launcher and widgets is possible if anyone would like to take the time to bring it over.
Sense launcher would be cool
