[REQUEST] Time for Sub-Sections please - TouchPad General

Please mods, it's time to build sub-section for the TP (android and webos) like every other multi-OS devices (HD2,...)
It's a bit hard to follow the forum since Android port became very popular :/

+1!! Please

I wonder why they didnt do it yet? did anyone contact a mod/admin?

+1
I agree

Yes, I agree... I even mentioned it in a thread yesterday. It was titled something like, "must have apps for the Touchpad". Turned out to be about apps for Touchpad's running Android.

+1
This (General) forum is extremely difficult to follow now. Mod alerted the 1st post so hopefully, the mods notice.

More than once I had an Android reply to a webOS question, then had to retract my statement.

+1 - the forum is getting very cluttered.

What's a webos?

Please! This place is a mess!

Thx

Also, could we delete/ move/ un-sticky the firesale threads? Its over, we all know the only way to get one now is through bestbuy with an HP purchase.

I agree aswell I'm sticking with webOS for the moment and its getting hard to find the right thred's.

Thanks Madnish30 will wait and see

Bump.
We could really use webOS and Android sub folders.

A Place For Thanks

I know that this may not be the best place for thanking the TeamWin developers....
But I guessed that most people would like a place to thank everyone, without doing it on the actual threads! lol
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1149998
And looking for something like this in the "General" section is well - who wants the general section now!
Anyway, tons of thanks! Really amazing stuff!
Lets leave the dev threads open for the stuff we want - root on our phones! SWEET!
This belongs in General, moving to general.
Threads like these are why "nobody wants the general". You are a tool

Probably people dont see all the great posts like that ("anyway."), because they're in the general section...
If there was one "spot" at the top of the page in the developer section, for all the great thanks and gratitude people have, then all the threads wouldn't be clogged up with "THANKS"...
Stericson, removed about 3 pages of "usless thanks in the thread. TY
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1149998
There is a place for thanks... I never saw the other thread... others like me, prolly just rush in to see the latest news and skip the "GENERAL" section...
And dump and port their latest thanks updates!
Thats all I was doing - Keeping it close to free up the "Informative" threads...
Have a good one!
Cheers!

I put in some good ideas about brainstorming that were outside the box- if all you do is look back and criticise, that's odd.
All I wanted to do was inspire alternate methods, if the ones that don't work at the moment, aren't working!
Therefore, it is better to inspire people to get to the moon, than to wallow in your negativity...
Keep it real and let's get the people who know what they're doing, on track to look at "All the posibilities".

HaHa how do I delete your negativity?
When everyone was giving up on unlocking our awesome 3vo's, I said, "if HTC or Sprint can change the operating system anytime they want, why can't we?"
I was thinking that there might be a way to enclose the hack within the HTC code... So that no root would be required, if the new code was included within the normal HTC signature. I don't know what I'm doing except I don't like to give up...

Was getting so bogged down with thanks... it was rediculous!
About 3 pages were deleated then it was closed!
DER
So if there was another outlet for people to post "Thanks"--- that they would see --- when they come running in all a "googoo" eyes into the thread, to find all the latest updates... and then clog it up "with thanks"...
maybe they would use that...!
So when they come running into the forums and see a "Place For Thanks" staring them in the face(in the developers section)- maybe they would use that instead of the dev threads... I hate reading 160 + pages to see repeated stuff too!
I see the "Thanks Button" I guess everyone else didn't...

Honeycomb on HP Touchpad? [EXPOSED]

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xb8kBW_RAeY
THIS IS NOT REALLY HONEYCOMB.
This is the Chomper Android ipk with a HONEYCOMB LAUNCHER.
The Launcher can be downloaded here:
http://syndicateapps.com/main/Honeyc...er_Rebuild.apk
I am in the process of building a system.img file that CLOSELY RESEMBLES Honeycomb. The intention of the video was to excite people and let them see what is possible. For those of you who said that this is NOT Honeycomb, you were correct. Congratulations. For those of you who got violent, get help.
My build will be available soon. I will laugh when the nay sayers download it.
Cheers!
I saw this on another site and it's amazing. When do you plan to release? I REALLY WANT!
This isn't honeycomb, judging from the lock screen, the menus, and the small gap between the bottom bar and the bottom.
Still, it IS android, most likely the Chomper version, and pretty cool.

don't mislead people, this is not honeycomb... a fact before anything else.
This is just the android ipk launcher (Screen tears happen on that) with a launcher...probably go launcher by the looks of things.
SPAM TROLL ETC....
Lol if this was a true android build it, our tp runs like the gtablet. And that ain't a good thing
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Guys this is the honeycomb launcher made by IntelSoft Apps.....not a honeycomb build. It looks exactly the same on any phone or tablet. Thats why colors are off, and the gap between the bottom and status bar. Notice that if you click on an app inside of it, the status bar is no longer there. Dont believe me, then try it out for yourself.

It's cool, man. I'll explain.
I have been making a Mod of Chomper's Android ipk that is much larger img file, and has gapps, and uses a Honeycomb Launcher to give it a more "tablety" feel to it. As a teaser, I posted a very obvious troll vid that shows what appeared to be REAL Honeycomb on the Touchpad. Most people realized that it wasn't true, others thought it was a joke, and some people mailed me severed heads and shot my dog. Either way, I have EXPOSED the truth now, and everyone can rest easy knowing that I am working on something legitimate and not just an ass.
Well, I'm still an ass, but I have something worthwhile to contribute too!

Slatedroid.com has a pretty active pandigital Modding community. They don't currently have a specific section for the star, but if you search for it you'll find discussion of the device and there are tools there made for similar pandigital devices that seem to work on the star. Good luck!

So yeah, like it says above. Is there a dev who wouldn't mind teaching me some things? I'm not exactly a noob. Have an IT degree and experience writing in C++. No expert, but I learn quickly.

I'm no developer (just working on apps, not ROMs), but I would suggest you read this thread. As Cyanogen says, you should start by learning some Java and working on an app or two. I would suggest acquiring a book to help you get started.
I started off with this guide for getting started with apps. I would suggest reading through the links in Cyanogen's thread and continuing from there.

Thanks, went thru that thread. Cyanogen's post was really informative. Me and a friend taught ourselves java when we were 15. But that's been 15 years, millions of brain cells, and seems like 2 lives ago.
Have to relearn it again. Remember back then we read java for dummies, lol. Anyone remember those? Taught us html pretty well, but I used that more than java.
Will check my local library for what they have and youtube tonight for tutorials.

Thanks for all the kind words and info. I really doubt I will have a rom out anytime soon. Have a few ideas for apps I would like to work on, so if that is the best way to learn then ill probably try that route.
It is all created by man, so the logic comes easy to me at times. Well, if it makes sense anyways. Sometimes I smh in frustration, "why did they decide to do it like this when the opposite makes so much sense?".

Progress on Nexus 4 conversion / compatible roms

Just checking in with the current developers of the Optimus G to seer how far along we're coming to seeing actual roms being ported directly from the Nexus 4 core or having a remotely aosp jelly bean based experience on our devices. I thought I read the other day in the forums that some people were working on allowing the roms to be cross compatible with both devices through some means of hacking, unless I'm mistaken?
Anyways, until then I'll just be patient and check back daily on the excellent progress that's been made on the phone within such a short timeframe of release. I for one appreciate that greatly! My excitement is what makes it so difficult to wait is all

Lots of people seem to get the topic of ROM progress and current roadblocks confused with asking for ETAs. The original topic of the thread was about progress and a development road map, NOT an estimated time of arrival for a stable ROM...

IRC doesn't archive. If anything current progress should be included in the roadmap sticky as it pertains to just that.
I also idle IRC most of the time but 90% of the conversation seems to consists of cars, guns, LGNPST requests and IRC bot chatter. I don't mind it, I just miss a lot of pertinant information because it gets lost in waves of text.
I still love the IRC conversation though, I just miss a lot. Commenting on this 9000 year old thread wasn't an attempt to argue with people about derail subjects that they inject to downplay the differences between two context groups.
Just pointing out the simple differences between progress requests and ETA's.
Agreed. Let's stop replying on this thread now haha. I hate seeing it at the top of this Q&A forum.. (Even though it's my fault lolol)
