Titan Car Mount - HTC Titan

ProclipUSA (my favorite car mount) now has holders for the HTC Titan.
They list both the HTC Titan and the HTC Titan (AT&T) even though it is the same part number.
I have used their products for all my phones all the way back to the Cingular 8125 and they are the best I have ever found.

UK have cheap mount kits
I just purchased a complete car kit from phones 4 u in the UK £9.99 it included 12v car phone charger, windscreen holder, 3.5mm phono cable all work and fitted well

I did not buy this specific one, but something like it. The width is adjustable and worked perfect for the Titan.
I would verify with the seller before buying as I do not see the one I bought listed any longer.

I have one of these that i bought off of amazon

It's freaken awesome. It comes with 2 extenders that you have to put on for the titan. To release, you just push downward with the phone. Your charger doesn't get wrapped up in this one either.

I’ve been very interested in this kit (ProClip). Can you tell me if, once the phone is secured in the holder, is the phone easily rotated while still keeping the tilt adjustment tight? I guess I am asking if the tilt and rotate are adjusted independently? Given that MS has yet to implement the landscape views of many of the media interfaces, I find myself having to frequently having to rotate between landscape and portrait.
how are you dealing with audio cabling?
TIA, T.J.

My Titan mount is arriving today. All the ProClip holders I have used were great for tilt and rotate. I even had one for my Tilt2 where you could go landscape and open the keyboard.
It is a superior product in every way. Also, it is very secure in the car and the locations are great for driving and looking at the screen at the same time.

Anybody have the HTC car mount?

Is there an app for this?

ProClip USA Car Mount
I installed my ProClip car mount in my Jeep for use with my Titan.
It is as great as all the other ProClip mounts I have owned over the years!
You can tilt and rotate the phone and use your car charger as well.
These are the superior mounts.
If anyone is interested, I can post pics.

Can you still use the headphone jack? I just got my Titan and I like to play music through my stereo in my truck.

Yes, the headphone jack is still accessible while in the holder.
It does not use a suction cup mount.....the mount attaches to the vehicle dash board, but the installation does not require drilling or anything like that. It is not permanent and can be removed from the vehicle.
The important thing to remember is when using a ProClip system, the vehicle mount is specific to your vehicle and the holder is specific to your phone. However, I have not found a strong, better mount if you use your phone in the car frequently.
You can rotate and tilt the holder as you see fit. In the last picture you can see how it attaches and I have it tilted far forward.

Car Panel is something HTC offers on their Android phones.
For WP, I'm wondering if "Car Panel" is the same as "Dock Mode".

Well got my HTC Titan car upgrade kit today CU S600 can not get the car panel to work downloaded loaded HTC locations app like it says to do and nothing happened when I used it followed the instrucions ? see pictures

I wonder if there is anupdate coming, when you check the Andriod version is looks nothing like the the location app. No that WP7 doesnt have big icons (hubs), Adroid does not.

I'm pretty sure those instructions are for an HTC Android phone.

Getting mine today will let you all know when i get home from work

I have just bought this car kit too and there is no auto launch of car panel too. It is written in the manual that NaviPanel automatically opens when your phone is docked on the cradle of the car holder. But, it seems that NaviPanel is for android phone's only.

Active car mount for Wizard

I am wondering if there already is a active carmount (so one that charges the unit and possibly 'extends' the usb port to hook up a wired GPS) available or announce for the Wizard/MDA Vario/K-Jam ....
I don't like the idea to plug a cable in-and-out the unit everytime....
Thanks,
Taco
Yes, go here: http://www.brodit.com/
Not in the US yet, but will be in a few weeks.
Looking forward to this... I wonder if I can just get one with a USB through port so I can use either a charger or a direct USB connection to my CarPC...

Or even 971650 Active Holder, Tilt Swivel
An active holder with a straight cable with open end for fixed installation and a cable with Molex adater system. The cables are to be connected inside the dashboard, this gives a discreet, neat installation without cables hanging over the interior.
You can choose to use the holder as an active holder only for charging, or to connect an adapter to the Molex connector for additional features. Then you can use the holder also for power supply of a GPS reciever, data transer or other own solutions.
12/24 Volt. The product is E-approved. Connect the power cable with a 1,5 A fuse. 2 A charger. Professional installation recommended. The holder is attached onto a tilt swivel and can be adjusted in order to avoid light reflection. Attach onto a ProClip Mounting Platform.

I like the keyboard extended, so that's why I want the other one. I've already got a laptop stand to mount it on, so it'll work out well for me.
I also plan on getting a Parrot as a friend just got one and he's my guinea pig. :O)

I think he's got the 3000 or 3100? I'll have to ask and make sure. Believe me, as soon as he reports to me, I'll post on it. Yes, he's got a KJAM/Wizard.

The Brodit range (including the new 'open' XDA mount) is here in the UK.
They'll also ship to the US.
http://www.dsldevelopments.com
They are very helpful, and do a screen mount for those who prefer it to the Dash mount which is car specific.
http://www.dsldevelopments.com/suctionmount.html.
See this post too:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=38678
I've fitted a Brodit active vertical mount & routed the cigarette lighter inside the dashboard to a 4 way that I've mounted in the glovebox. My Holux BT receiver is permanently plugged into its cigarette lighter which comes on when the ignition is turned on. The battery is removed. So if I want to go walking etc, I just unplug the receiver, put in the battery & off I go. The only challenge is the battery life of the vario - 4ish hours max with screen on all the time & BT on as well.
Tom Tom running on my Vario will only run in portrait, which is fine for me, which is why I chose the vertical mount.
The Vario/Mini S/9100 will not work with wired GPS receivers according to Holux UK tech support.
dont you find the brodit charger leads to be too short?
mine doesnt actually reach the socket unless i stretch it... not sure how you managed to get it into your glovebox
i'm getting my tomtom, brodit 9100 and snooper wired directly to battery next week so i guess i wont have to worry about it soon
The Brodit leads aren't very long, but I managed to get it to reach going through the central part of the dashboard under the radio/computer combo on my BMW. It is stretched a litttle, but I don't see it, it looks neat and it works great.
I've just discovered Tom Tom will run in landscape mode, but having used my Palm T3 in both portrait & landscape, I prefer portrait on the Vario as the bottom info doesn't take too much of the screen in portrait, but does in landscape.
I bought the horizontal Brodit Passive holder. Was not impressed. THe phone didnt fit well and the plastic was cheap and it actually snapped when I first put the phone in.
The Vertical one is great. Its made of thicker plastic and holds the phone. Even on the bouncy back roads I take it work.
I received my brodit car mount today and install it. I love my tomotom nav in landscape mode. because of the horizontal brodit won't let me closed the keyboard. I decided to buy the vertical one and turn it 90 degree counter-clockwise for landscape. Will take some pic and post it next week. 8)
Is there enough space in the Brodit active vertical mount to accomodate a thin (soft) velcro strip on the back of my K-Jam/Vario? Would this mess up the alignment with the mini-usb power connector?
Thanks!
Hi,
have you got a picture of the back of your device with the velcro on? Ill have a look and measure up a stock item: 968650 Holder to see if it would be ok (I suspect it might be if its not too thick, and like you say it is soft)
Cheers,
Bryson

Desktop Cradle

Has anyone seen a cradle available for the Dream yet?
I think that one of the nice advantages about buying the fruit phone is that there is a really large quantity of really nice accessories available. What I like is the cradle that mounts inside the car and the various desktop cradles with integrated speakers.
For the G1, I hope to see something that can hold the phone in a good position on the top of the dashboard of my car or attach to the window which makes it easy when using the GPS and perhaps provides a method of connecting to the DVD player head unit. I also hope for a nice desktop cradle for home, perhaps with a couple of speakers on each side.
What do you all think? (If you're going to tell me to just get the iPhone then don't bother commenting, keep it to yourself)
I think that a company like directed electronics could easily put something like this out. They're the guys who make all the speaker docks for Sirius/XM. I know they made an executive, flat speaker dock that's capable of holding a number of Sirius radios plus an ipod (with interchangeable cradle cups.) Since pretty much all HTC phones use the same external port for USB and audio, I don't know why some manufacturer hasn't jumped on this yet.
Wait, it could be because a lot more Americans buy ipods and other apple gadgets (with their own connector) than they do expensive smarthpones.
It's a small-but-untapped market yet.
Agreed, so fingers crossed that there will be some companies out there that produce something of the kind!
I had a dock for my PSP and a dock for my old DELL Pocket PC and have to say, I really don't miss them. A dock means another USB port always hooked up to the hub, always sapping power, and having it either constantly syncing in the background (RAM drain) or having to remember to manually sync it.
I kinda like just having one mini-USB that I can use for my camera, zen, psp, and phone. I really don't ever need to hook up all of those at the same time, so it keeps my desktop more tidy.
Remember, this is a cloud device, there's no sync software, a desktop doc is a relic of the sync era, so that's probably why there isn't one for it so far. But maybe? That car dock makes sense, definitely.

I don't know about you but I loved when I had my Dell x51v in the dock at my desk... it helps me see the time, email, meetings, and anything else... for the same reason I leave my tilt open and tilted up... I think a dock would be cool(even if you had to plug the miniUSB into it) so that I could see the screen at my desk.
since the G1 actually doesn't sync with anything at all, is there really a point to a dock? I hook it up real quick to xfer over some music or grab some pics off of it but no real reason to leave it there other than maybe to charge it.... which so far is quite frequently.
Well, we don't need a dock but it would be slightly easier and nicer IMO to just get home, pop the phone into the dock for charging and in the meantime I can transfer files onto it rather than leaving it lying on my desk. Plus the dock should hold the phone upright so I can sit back and see whats going on, on the screen.
So in conclusion, we don't need a dock for anything that we do with the phone but it would be nice to have one and it would be useful to many.
... except to charge it!
lol
Doll furniture...
I was able to get my hands on one of these that fit the G1. Poked a hole in the seat and voila, a desktop G1 cradle. Just need to find a mini-palm tree to go with the look...and maybe a beer, hmm...

Definitely It was a lot easier to swap batteries on the Dash, though. It made the cradle with the charging slot superfluous.
I looked and found the ones pictured in this thread. Are there any desktop cradles yet that will allow you to rotate the phone to landscape orientation while still being cradled? I want to use the phone as an alarm clock and I found an app i really like for this, but it only works with landscape =\
fold a piece of cardboard or chipboard in thirds to make a triangle with a little bit of extra at one end like /\_. tape it. fold the extra bit up slightly. place triange on desk like so ___/\___. turn phone sideways and place phone on this lip, resting back on the triangle. now plug in your usb. DONE AND FREE!!!!

You do realize that the G1 comes with an alarm clock app right? I use it along with bedside, which mutes everything, but the phone ringer incase of an emergency call at night.
I use this on myself because I want the phone to lean back a bit more.

As for the blue light comment. Electrical tape works wonders. I even cut a tiny little slit in the tape just so I could barely see it when its dark.

Of course I know this. I want an alarm CLOCK. I want it to be a clock, with a nice big display. I have three phones, I use them all for alarms. But I don't have an actual clock in my room and the G1 with this clock app would be perfect.
Has anyone considered rigging up a palm touchstone yet? I bought one for my father(he obviously has a palm pre), and it doesn't look that complicated.
Remove the hardware from the back of the included Palm pre battery cover
Attach said hardware to g1 battery cover
Wire contacts to G1 battery contacts
Enjoy
Is there anything going on behind the scenes that I might be missing? Aside from the fact that it's 60-70 bucks depending on where you go, what would stop you from doing this successfully?

[REVIEW] EVO 3D - iGrip Car Dock, HTC Car Upgrade Kit, HTC OEM Silicone Smerge Case

Here's my little review of the iGrip Car Dock, HTC Car Upgrade Kit, HTC OEM Silicone Smerge Case!
EDIT: I added some pros and cons to the car docks, some things I experienced on my way to work this morning.

HTC Car Upgrade Kit
Contents: Car Upgrade Kit, USB cable, dual USB port car charger, round sticky pad for mounting on a dash.
Pros:
- Designed specifically for the EVO 3D
- Little vibration when driving
- includes the USB cable and dual USB port car charger
- Can be rotated from portrait to landscape mode easily
Cons:
- Price tag (59.99)
- Doesn't rotate 360 degrees both directions (one way rotates farther then the other)
- Phone will not fit in the dock with ANY case on
iGrip Car Dock (some of these pics are dark, my apologies)
Contents: iGrip Car Dock, sticky pad for dashboard mounting, little hook to hold up a charger when plugged into the dock
Pros:
- Works with a case installed! (Excluding cases like the Defender, which are big and bulky) There's an insert that can be removed to allow for the cases, a nice feature
- Price (There's a thread here where you can order one for just over $26 shipped, but they retail for $39.99)
- Sturdy
- Extends closer to the driver when mounted because the arm is longer. I find this beneficial when driving, you don't have to reach so far forward to touch the screen.
- Can be rotated 360 degrees from both directions, just loosen the know behind the dock.
Cons:
- There's a little more vibration than the official HTC dock
- Doesn't come with any form of car charger
- Can't be easily rotated while driving, due to the knob you need to loosen up in the back before you can rotate the dock, and then tighten up the knob.
Side-by-side:
Between the two, I'm keeping the iGrip and returning the HTC dock. It's all plastic yes, but a very good product, also because it can be used with a case (see below)
HTC OEM Silicone Smerge Case
I love this case. It's not made to withstand any kind of a drop (I don't think, and I'm not going to find out! ) It will protect the phone from getting scuffed up and scratched up. It does attract a little lint, but I think all cases do (due to crevices they create around the phone)
Nice review. Looks like I made a good choice going with the iGrip dock.
Good stuff. The iGrip looks like the one.
Yeah the iGrip is really designed well. The only thing that's not as good as the official dock is the slightly more vibration in the dock when driving down the road, I assume that's because the neck on it is longer and it's harder to keep it still.

I had the HTC one for my OG EVO. I thought it was a great product. Only annoyance was that I had to remove my Barely There case.
When I bought the 3vo, the only docks that Sprint had in stock were the iGrips. Since, previously, Sprint had only carried the HTC model, I figured there might not be one for this phone, so I bought the iGrip.
I have to say, I like the iGrip a lot more. My phone fits beautifully with the Barely There case on it, and, I agree, it does extend out further, which I appreciate. I also like that it doesn't readjust easily. I have it set where I want it, securely tightened down, and I don't want it to move.
I will also agree that it does vibrate a little more than the HTC model did for me, but it's not problematic.

Yeah I had the HTC dock for my OG EVO too, and I liked it a lot more than the one for the EVO 3D and I still have it.
I'm selling my EG EVO (rooted) soon along with the dock and seidio 3500 mah battery.
I've just gotten the iGear dock because I was under the mistaken impression it was the "official" HTC car dock for the EVO 3D. I have to say I really don't like it nearly as much as the OEM HTC dock for my EVO. It wobbles a bit and can't be positioned nearly as articulately as the OEM EVO dock.
I'm also finding that when docked, the desktop doesn't move into landscape mode. Apps and pages that support landscape work fine, but the main sense UI and app drawer don't. I thought I recalled a dock orientation setting but I can't seem to find it. Am I just going nuts?
I'm seriously considering getting the OEM dock then taking this guy back. Maybe if the 'hinge' behind the ball/socket actually articulated, I could see keeping it. I don't use a case either, so that's not really a plus for me.
Nice review dude thanks . Is that a speed?

Any ideas on my landscape-mode issue? [home screen not going into landscape when docked] Is it not supposed to on Evo 3D?

The car mode goes into landscape mode when it's docked. I don't think the actual home-screen on the phone goes into landscape mode, I believe that was only on sense 2.0/2.1

Yes, the iGrip has clearance for the camera, not 3D though, as it blocks the second camera used to create the 3D.
also went with the igrip after playing with both it and the htc one. nice review dude.
off topic, is the red car a tiburon? and autotech or agent?

Ordered this mount for my wife's car, I use a ProClip unit in my car, seems to work pretty well for what it is. Mountek has them available on Amazon every weekday at 07:00 PST, I ordered mine at 08:15 PST and there were only eight left. I paid $23.90 shipped (USPS first class). I am hoping that it will fit my HTC (with extended battery) as well as my wife's OG Droid. I am not too worried about blocking any radio controls while in use because they are all mirrored on the steering wheel. She was pretty adamant about having something that was removable, and I can't stand the windshield mounts that are available.
(Here is the video from their site)
Here is the box from USPS, shipped received about a week after ordering. Included was the mount, a piece of adhesive foam, and small instruction sheet.
The mount seems to be built fairly well
This tabbed area inserts into the compact disc slot, then the knob is twisted to expand until "firm" The tabs are soft, so no marring the CD slot.
Here is the adhesive pad. DON"T USE IT WITH THE EXTENDED BATTERY The bottom rest is removable to work with a variety of electronics.
Here is my OG Droid mounted, and then the Vigor with the standard battery.
Here is the side profile with the standard battery cover. As a refresher here is the difference between the standard and extended battery covers...
Here is the mount without the bottom plate, holding the Vigor with the extended battery cover.
Here is me shaking it, with the extended battery, no problems with is falling out. Here is a top down view of the foam sides holding the Vigor.
I don't have my wife's car right now, but here is the mount in my Civic (06-11)...
To those unfamiliar, the Civic had a cd slot that is at a angle, here is with the mount installed.
Now with the Vigor installed (with extended battery) portrait and landscape.
Overall I think it is going to work well. I will update this review if I have any issues...
***Update 02-24-2011***
Works well in my wife's Subaru, does not block any of the display. No issues with the Vigor (Rezound) falling out with the extended battery, the foam on the sides works well to keep it in place.
My wife uses one in her car for her Razr. Seems to work well, and she likes it.
But, I tried it with my Rezound and there are a couple problems. With the extended battery, it's almost too thick for the mount. It will hold it, but it's not quite deep enough to hold securely. Seems like the phone would easily pop out if you bump it or even from road vibration. The second problem is that the usb port is blocked so no charging. You might be able to trim the side piece enough to get the charger to plug in, but I haven't tried.
Awesome. Just a thanks for the post. Glad to see a car mount not relying on suction, which my "textured" dash and crap make useless, and i don't want my view blocked at all in my windshield. This is the most useful car mount for me i've seen yet. too bad it'll most likely block me from keeping my Archos 5 IMT from mounting via velcro where i do lol but rarely do i use that awesome beast anymore. Can't wait to get a chance to order one.

Could you shoot a picture of your Rezound (I still despise that name..) in mounted in the unit? Which way are you mounting it?
Updated with Photos and brief overview.
Sorry I never had a chance to get any photos up for you, but yours are great. I didn't realize the bottom plate was removable. That solves the issue of plugging the charger in. And glad to see it holds your phone securely. I think I had a case on mine when I tried it, so maybe that made some difference.
After seeing your review, I think I'll give this mount another try.

Thanks, came in quicker than I expected.
That's crazy. I have a civic si and wanted to see how it looked and since you ha even one it looks like it works well. I wanted to place it above the big capartment infringement of the shifter. I may get this!
I actually use a ProClip mount for my car, it mounts above the driver right side vent, but it is much more permanent. You on the 8th?

I'm on here and there, Chris/Si/4dr. Nice FG, hate black... Never again. Does look good the first 20 min after a wax though.
That's genius. Finally no longer have to deal with suction cups
It's just a dock to hold the phone in place correct? Doesn't broadcast sound through your car's audio system? Thanks.

Yes it is "just" a dock... I use a dock for navigation, music, & calls. This lets your phone be within reach, not stuck to your windshield, and out of the sun.
This is what I use to "stream" music ect...
Updated photographs
I received mine last week, and have been using it for a few days now. I really like it. My CDs still play...yeah I would have to remove it to change the CD, but my car has an in dash 6-CD changer, so I already have them pre-loaded and just switch on the fly.
I'd buy this again...in fact I might buy one for the wife's car.

Glad my little review was able to help, I haven't played a CD in almost two years.
I got this for my wife's Jeep Liberty and it works like a champ!
I used this with my Evo 4G with extended bat. and now my Rezound. I works pretty good but I can't angle it enough so that the phone is facing me directly. Also, it fits fine in my wife's Mazda with 6 disk changer but in my F150 with 6 disk changer it it really tight - even scraped off some of the protective covering of the little tabs that fit into the cd slot. I don't use the changer so I just forced it in and it's not going anywhere, didn't even have to tighten the adjustment screw.
Did you remove the back pad? Mine came with it already on. Tempted to just scrape it off.

HTC DROID DNA Dock / Car Dock

Has there been any word about docks for this phone? With the charging port being on bottom of the phone as well as being covered I could see it being a bit more troublesome. Does anyone know if the charge port cover is fully removable or on a hinge?
I would love to see a quality car dock produced.

The official dock will undoubtably use wireless charging - which should make it easier to put on and off. The dock will probably be expensive though.
It will have a wireless charging pad. There are several options (http://www.geek.com/articles/mobile...rgers-for-the-nexus-4-and-droid-dna-20121114/). But the official one will be the pad from LG.
Good idea, except how am I going to use it as a clock by the bed?
i just picked up a wireless charging pad today from one of my local vzw stores so i am excited that i dont have to deal with that cover over the microusb port anymore to charge it

Get the car dock
I was wondering the same thing, I can't imagine how much a wireless charging car dock would go for, the regular ones from Verizon are expensive enough!

I'm guessing it will be around $80 at verizon, if it is indeed wireless charging. At that point, I'd probably look into putting a Nexus 7 in my dash where the radio was.

Exactly what I did. Aside from the wow factor, I simply got tired of having to delicately insert/remove my phone from the cradle worrying each time I was going to snap off the charger, scratch something, and just weaken its lifespan overall. I'm going to get the DNA however just so that I can finally slap a phone into the dock without even thinking about it. After I sell my car of course.
That looks great. Good job man.
Tony
Thank you very much for your help (It means a lot)

Looks good. I'll definitely be doing something like this in a year, which is why I wouldn't pay much for a phone dock. Hopefully the Nexus 7 (or a newer version) will have LTE by then. I'd pay $10 a month to have the car a mobile hotspot and it would be nice that it had its own internet.
Looks like some 3rd party stores are prepping to carry Docks: http://www.htcdepot.com/htc-droid-dna-car-kits-and-mounts.htm
I am going to get a wireless pad for work, then hope that a car dock and "home" dock will be sold by HTC and/or VZW. I'd rather not have to use a "generic" holder or modify my car's dash.
Car Dock for DNA coming
We at IBOLT will announce the DNA car-dock in the next week. It will work with all cases (even Otterbox Defender type) and you can turn it horizontal or vertical position with a very little of the Dock visible. The microUSB charging plug will trigger the HTC default car-mode (great app!) or anyone can download their favorite after-market app, type CarHome Ultra. Will post images within one week and link to availability.

Will it have wireless charging built in? Cause it doesn't sound like it when you mention usb. That would be a major fail for this product, imo anyway.
Edit: okay, I just saw in the other thread you mentioned wireless charging being built in, great news, get that thing out asap and I'll order at least 2.

Had the iBolt for my GS3 and loved it, so I'm very excited by this news. My only hope is that it is set up so that the phone goes in with the volume rocker on top rather than in the dock. This was the only problem with the GS3 version.

That would be a major PITA if it's just USB, as we would have to uncover our USB port every time we wanted to use the dock.
I would just buy a generic dock if it didn't have wireless charging, not worth the extra money otherwise.
