Croming the titan's cover - HTC Titan

Hey all,
As a lot of you may know, there were a few threads or only one ^^, which show how to brush the battery cover. It can be made by removing the paint of it so you can see the aluminium which gives it a crome look. Is that also possible with the titan? Or is that cover made of plastic?
Thx

The back cover of the titan is made of aluminium but be carefull on the camera opening it think the ring is made of plastic. when you cromed your device will you post pics ?

Yes I will do it this weekend and post then some updates I guess I will post them at sunday 12 pm at latest

Hope for you that this will look good

has anyone bought the full body from them? it went down in price by 5bucks.. i was wondering if there was pics and how much it actually covers..
i'm going to give it a try... if it makes the device more "grippy", i'll be a good to go.
It could be an amazing idea, or pile of poo. Please let us know how you get on.
can i combine for example a brando screen protecor with the full body kit from clear coat or invisibleshield?
let us know how it goes.. cuz i want it to cover corners and everything.. if you look at the pictures for the iphone they have.. it doesn't cover anything.
I emailed clear coat friday and here is the email with reply:

Hi, I would jlust like to know if this actually covers the entire phone, or just the front and back and not the edges.
Thank you

Khang,
Thank you for writing in. We have been able to get excellent coverage on the Touch HD. The sides, top, bottom, front, and back are all covered. All of our designs omit a small part of the corners - we've found this makes the Clear-Coat stay on longer (corners peel easily), and easier to install. Overall, I'd say you achieve 95% coverage on this model.
Clear-coat
For $20 shipped I jumped in....Invishield hasn't come out with their HD version yet and I want to keep my baby looking brand spanking new...untile I drop it in the toilet, of course.

Once you get it, please let us know how it feels and does it interfere with the smooth operation of the touch screen.
corners
Well, that´s bad for me..according to my experience with mobile phones, they always fall down on corners(
I just wonder how much is the new cover, whether it is not nearly the same price as this protector...

i oh so thought that you were referring to once he had dropped it in the toilet.
Blug, blug!!
I'll post a mini review once I get it on.
ookayy! PICTURES TOOO!!! PLEASE!!
I received my set yesterday, there are 5 pieces covering more or less 92% of the HD.
One big missing (7%) concerns the band all around the touch screen.
I dislike the touch screen part, to grippy for me, better to use original one from the HTC box.
I confirm, quite difficult to apply this protection to the corner.
Because of the size of the screen, do not put too much pressure when you apply the protection.
Not really good experience till now, I've expected a full protection
Does it cover the lens?
can yall post pics of the clear coat so we have a idea how they look. thanks in advance.

hmm - that will definitelly have negative impact on picture quality, I wish they cut a hole for the lens.
you mean it doesn't cover the part where the glossy paint is? the big major part of this phone? hahaha the chipping part? that sucks.. any pics?
wait, wait, wait.... let me understand
this body protector doesn't protect the most delicate part?
.... please confirm this fact, I was going to order it!
IT DOESN'T?!?!!? I bought clear-coat for that glossy chipping frame only

I here tell that HTC will be releasing alternative battery doors at some point, including a furry one . No dates yet
There already exist 2 different covers, black and brown, but no matt finish (to buy)
at the moment.

I hope the matt one comes soon.
Here is a link from Taiwan, seems kinda expensive though:

My german Diamond2 (MDA Compact V) has a matt finishing battery cover.
With a brushed alu part, around the cam.
.
But looks like it does not fit to the original HTC-device.
Btw. the diamond (MDA Compact IV) had a similar back cover. The T-Mobile-version of the HTC devices always had matt covers instead of the shiny finishined.
I read on Engadget that it'd go for around AU$30 if I remember correctly... or maybe it was more...
I want one aswell... The diamond is a perfect device, But the gloss battery cover... It just isn't my thing.
Although on ebay... They DO sell full housings, Which contains a matte battery cover, costs 60€ though
you may keep the back cover and resell the rest to someone who's housing broke.

It says N.B. The product image is for illustration only, not the actual bettery cover. Doesn't say if it is matt or black plastic though.
Thanks mate, When someone can confirm it's a matt one I'm buying!
Just arrived for the full housing for Topaz with matt cover!
Absolutely the best!
No more fingerprints, scratches or soap effect.
The cover seems rubberized. It is less creaking and more compact.
Definitely needed!

Brown housing on Ebay

black as well if you search, just bought a brown meself! woop.
how are u planning to take it apart?
i wanna get the white housing when it comes out.. but i;m afraid to take it apart
White G1 Housing, Attempt
I have just purchased a white g1 Housing set for $50, don't call me retarded, money wasn't really an issue for me and I hate the bronze color. Anyway, has anyone actually attempted this and successfully got it functioning afterwards? Any quick replies would be awesome, ty!
do a search for the service manual. Its floating around out there. This gives a step by step on how to take apart and put back together the dream
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=468673
Let me know how this goes. Curious as to the difficulty level.
What condition is your bronze casing in? lol I have a black, but prefer the bronze.
It's in perfect condition, I only got the phone like 2 weeks ago. No scratches or scuffs, I just prefer a different color. I'm going to give this thing a go lol, unless you're talking about a trade or something.
as long as you follow the service manual perfectly (it's pretty in-depth) then you should have no problems. doesn't look too hard to take apart, just ****ing time consuming
wanna link me to the website where you bought this housing?
i wanted white also.

Anyone found a replacement housing with memory card cover?
I have dropped my phone and will be eventually looking to replace the housing.
But all the adverts on ebay(uk), none of them seem to list the memory card cover. I could use my original, but I kinda fancy a change to white! ;-)
Anyone know where to get this cover?
Thanks,
Really really sorry to bump this.....
Anyone had any luck finding spare G1 memory card covers?
Little surprised no one else is interested in this issue, especially if they fancy changing their housing (for repair/colour change) in the future.
As far as I can see, none of the sellers on ebay include this cover, so don't lose it or wreck it!
I dont think the G1 has enough of a market to mass produce housings, ebay is prob your best bet. You can try contacting HTC and see if they can give you a lead but other than that I think you'll have to look for someone with a bricked phone.
EDIT: Sorry, forgot u were lookin for mem card cover
@Edit: No problem; glad you noticed before I got round to typing reply!
Like I said, every single ebay listing I have seen does not include it.
Just seems a strange thing to for them to miss out, anyone know a reason?

my HTC Titan in WHITE!

I just had to share and show you a photo of my euro titan in the middle of the spray painted white process! the phone itself has been sent back for repairs but my friend is painting my titan body cover after I was inspired by the winphoneviet.com photos of their white titan
behold the initial fabulousness of a soon to be white titan!

That looks amazing! How are you going to make the actual phone white though? Curious for the final product!
In bit to make it white, I thought I would just use "skinit" with pure white skin. That was the best way I thought, until now..
Need to find a spray paint friend
Hmmm looking good but this is only back cover but glass on the face we have still in black colour. I think that to achieve a similar effect we can buy case in white colour eg:
http://www.igadgitz.com/products/fi...rethane-tpu)-case-cover-for.html#.T_lMuNVpMvs
yes
the rest of the phone itself such as where the capacitive screen and buttons are will remain black in that area but the phones "body" is going to be white so I am very excited!
Any updates? Pics?
Updates? Also, do you mind posting a tutorial on how this was done?:fingers-crossed:
still pending
my phone is almost done with repair at htc America and the back cover is still with my friend who is taking his time because I don't have the phone back anyway, i'm about to go on 3 solid weeks of no phone thanks to HTC, the hold up is that they had to order materials from Taiwan as this phone they don't normally repair because it is the euro titan, it has been a tough 3 weeks and all I am using is a very old dumb nokia phone with no touch screen, phone keybad and very slow
final product! more pics to follow
more to follow!
more pictures!
my phone is coming back this week but I did get my cover back from friend, behold the finished product. it is white with the windows 8 logo on the back I think its super hot!

rustoleum satin white spray paint was used from lowes and a white primer
What are the odds? I did mine using the same. The feel and texture is nice but after using it for a while the paint started to brown from my hands and pocket from daily usage!!! I'm thinking that a compatible "matte" clear-coat might have saved me the trouble of havening to sand/strip and redo this cover.

You quite got me to do the same. Isn't that hard, but how'd you manage to paint the win8 logo so nicely ? printed one and cut out the squares ?
Wow, that looks amazing. I'm also curious as to how you got the logo on there so nicely. Would your friend be willing to do another if I were to send him my cover? If so, how much would he charge?
my friend can do it for $25
he'll explain the process of how he did it you can reach him at [email protected]
also i must warn everyone my data connections were seriously affected by the paint job, i don't know if i had a faulty back cover because i did recently send the phone back for repair or a paint job degrades the signal strength, i have stopped using the back cover and am using a US at&t back cover that does not fit securely, because of how poor the data connection was, so proceed at your own risk, currently i am trying to find a new euro titan cover at a reasonable price and i will try the paint job again on another cover just to make sure
were your data connections affected?

Didn't click pics or take a vid while applying it. Planning to apply a new one in the next few days, gonna take a video and upload it soon.
I would it do like this:
but before this make with TFC Silikon Kautschuk Type 1 by making foil over the device in a bucket and poor it over.
Then you need presto 601460 plastic spatula
when the plastic spatula is hardend you can put on one layer after another and build a hard case.
I think i do it next time i have time.

It is my first time that i make something like this.
So the First mold was using with 2K Epoxy and failed because it wouldn´t hardent and was not straight. So i threw it in the trash.
2cnd try was to use my UV AcrylresinSKresin 1390 and another Fail because it was bubbling and got to much hot (about 250 Degree Celsius).
So i Poor another Mold with the Green TFC Kautschuk Tpe 1, then poor in the softer one TFC Silicon Kautschuk Type 13.
Then i tried first time to use the Glasfiber with Acrylresin. It is first time gone wrong because i lay it on top and try to fold it down. It was not working.
The i layed a piece down and put on the resin 2 pieces and after hardend the big middle i tried to fold upside the courve and it was working better but don there it was to wide hardend. so that it would a bit to big.
i added new Pictures in the last link.
Update Time =)
I just peeled of the first time the Carbon from the mold.
There are one Layer and some Small holes but i think For the Firsdt time doing this it look´s okay =)
I am thinking about doining a second layer and then cut it or just fill the Holes and inspect it and make a uesefull case with min 2 layer´s.

Excellent work man, keep doing it, it just gets better the more you keep doing it. I think after a while this small problems also won't happen. For now, try filling the holes first and see how it comes out, if it aint good, try making a fresh one.
