my HTC Titan in WHITE! - HTC Titan

I just had to share and show you a photo of my euro titan in the middle of the spray painted white process! the phone itself has been sent back for repairs but my friend is painting my titan body cover after I was inspired by the winphoneviet.com photos of their white titan
behold the initial fabulousness of a soon to be white titan!
if you are interested in getting yours painted you can reach my friend steve @ [email protected]

That looks amazing! How are you going to make the actual phone white though? Curious for the final product!
In bit to make it white, I thought I would just use "skinit" with pure white skin. That was the best way I thought, until now..
Need to find a spray paint friend

Hmmm looking good but this is only back cover but glass on the face we have still in black colour. I think that to achieve a similar effect we can buy case in white colour eg:
http://www.igadgitz.com/products/fi...rethane-tpu)-case-cover-for.html#.T_lMuNVpMvs

yes
the rest of the phone itself such as where the capacitive screen and buttons are will remain black in that area but the phones "body" is going to be white so I am very excited!

Any updates? Pics?

Updates? Also, do you mind posting a tutorial on how this was done?:fingers-crossed:

still pending
my phone is almost done with repair at htc America and the back cover is still with my friend who is taking his time because I don't have the phone back anyway, i'm about to go on 3 solid weeks of no phone thanks to HTC, the hold up is that they had to order materials from Taiwan as this phone they don't normally repair because it is the euro titan, it has been a tough 3 weeks and all I am using is a very old dumb nokia phone with no touch screen, phone keybad and very slow

final product! more pics to follow
more to follow!

more pictures!
my phone is coming back this week but I did get my cover back from friend, behold the finished product. it is white with the windows 8 logo on the back I think its super hot!

Looks great man, keep us updated and how it holds to everyday wear and tear/daily usage!

rustoleum satin white spray paint was used from lowes and a white primer

What are the odds? I did mine using the same. The feel and texture is nice but after using it for a while the paint started to brown from my hands and pocket from daily usage!!! I'm thinking that a compatible "matte" clear-coat might have saved me the trouble of havening to sand/strip and redo this cover.

You quite got me to do the same. Isn't that hard, but how'd you manage to paint the win8 logo so nicely ? printed one and cut out the squares ?

Wow, that looks amazing. I'm also curious as to how you got the logo on there so nicely. Would your friend be willing to do another if I were to send him my cover? If so, how much would he charge?

my friend can do it for $25
he'll explain the process of how he did it you can reach him at [email protected]
also i must warn everyone my data connections were seriously affected by the paint job, i don't know if i had a faulty back cover because i did recently send the phone back for repair or a paint job degrades the signal strength, i have stopped using the back cover and am using a US at&t back cover that does not fit securely, because of how poor the data connection was, so proceed at your own risk, currently i am trying to find a new euro titan cover at a reasonable price and i will try the paint job again on another cover just to make sure

were your data connections affected?

i stopped using the cover because my data connection was poor, I even lost signal occasionally, did you experience any problems when you had paint on the back cover?

I did not. Currently I am using a replacement from eBay because I haven't gotten around to redoing the paint on my previous cover but from what I can remember, everything was as good as stock!

Replacement back plate

I dropped my Titan the other day and it landed on concrete pretty hard. *weep*
The handset was fine and was protected pretty will by the body, however I managed to scratch the back plate a little and now its driving me crazy because every time I look at it I see the scratches.
Does anyone know if/where you can buy a replacement back plate?
Centre
Find nearest support centre and they will help you. As they have done with my hd2. Now I am using titan.

a) may be buy a gel cover? Cheap and will cover the scratch and protect your phone with further throwing around in future?
b) if you are in 28 days thing, replace it?
c) could you please check your speaker and mic? Last time I dropped mine, it looked like it was a scratch but the speaker was completely messed up and when I spoke in my mic, it echoed to the other person for like zillion times! I had to replace it and luckily was in 28 days period.
actually theres alot of backplate on sale on ebay .
thats probably a good point about the titan . if you really scatch the backplate badly, there are alot of OEM replacement backplate on ebay going for about 40 bucks and will make you phone looks like new .

Maybe move this thread to accessories one? More helpful there?
Call HTC support, they will issue you a new one for free, under the warranty your allowed one accessory per unit, the back cover falls in that category. That's what they did for me. I now have a new one I use when I go out and a scratched one I use at work.
Hello I have a similar question, I have the At&t version of the titan, great phone, but believe the black back cover of the global version looks much better. Is it possible to just swap it??

When I comtacted HTC initially I wanted to buy the battery cover. I was sent all over including to non-HTC sites. Finally they said they were unable to locate a back cover for me so they will sent a warranty replacement, which I received the other day.
My guess is that their system is not yet setup to sell these back covers. They can only do warranty replacements.
Ordered one from UkHiTech(eBay) and it was shipped on the 22nd and was supposed to take lie minimum 14 days, but it got here yesterday!! All and all the replacement back plate is just as great as the original and has all the serial codes to suggest the seller is honest that it is OEM! I am very impressed cause I now have a black At&t branded titan as apposed to their grey one!

owners of blue s3, peeling paint?

today i checked my s3, i found this the paint of my inside screen "back" key peeling off near the border inside the gorilla glass, its really faint but if u look close u can see it, i heard samsung have problem with the blue version but my gs3 is only 2 weeks old, never feel, so far only thing it could get there is a raindrop.
anyone else here experience something similar? was trying to get picture but its really thin hard to notice.
i dont think warranty will cover it, especially since i root it, and its perfectly working phone. sadly in a year when i can sell it probably going to lose more paint.
I feel your pain bro imperfections bug the hell out a me because once you notice it your always looking at it , I've had no issues with my pebble blue beast yet but this is my second one in 2 weeks the first one I messed up flashing modems anyway phone the store and tell them there's a problem with your phone when trying to answer calls that's what I did ten days after buying mine , and see if they will exchange it , if yes just wipe binary factory reset and take that ***** back , at the end of the day its a £500 pound smartphone if your not happy you should be able to return or exchange it , I'd go to the shop and make them exchange it or else : ) good luck don't waste time

no, but the peeling was inside the screen and it looks really over the thin border... i have only 2 weeks with the phone.
i got it on contract on claro, and i doubt they going to exchange it over something so small as paint :/
i looked in AT&T gs3 forums and pretty similar to the border chrome peeling off issue :/, like my n82 eventually it all wear off with time.
The only reason there were launch delays for the SGS3 were because of the pebble blue version even though they are made of the same material you can look closely that they have a difference with the white version in the feel of your palm. Manufacturer's are having a crisis in the pebble blue department that's why I took the white one instead.

Just unroot/triangle away and return to store. Its worth a try.
I'm using a TPU case with screen protector since day 1 as always. No problem.
Okay I can't say that I own a s3 but with Samsung phones in general I can tell you this. My Samsung impression(dinosaur) had the same problem. After awhile the paint was coming off chipping and all that. Its just what Samsung uses I suppose just had to put my two sense in

My top left hand corner stainless steel paint peel off. my phone in the protective case first day! I don't even till I was shopping for extra case, remove it and there it is black color!
Do you guys think they exchange another one for me?
Can we see some images?
No case/protector here since day 1. Phone is about a month and half old. As good as new, no paint peel, no scratch/crack on its own.
would be hard to get a picture, its really small but its pretty much blue paint peeling from the lighter blue border, it looks black below. its really faint,i dont touch it so it doesnt remove more paint
i going to ask tomorow but i doubt it, they gotta replace it.
if not, i guess i will have to order online a protector. but even n82 took a while for the paint to peel, this took 2 weeks.
I have been using mine with no protection at all for a few weeks now and have not had any issues- blue s3

I ordered a Smoke one on Sunday and it arrived today. It is my first case ever for a phone so I can't comment too much. It seems to fit the well and has a pleasant touch feeling. It is a little more glossy than I expected. There is a slight lip around the front that should protect the screen a little from drops. All of the buttons, ports, microphones, and speaker have cutouts as described so it doesn't impede with the phone usage.

Does it look like the attached? The images on the site are different from the Sprint and AT&T versions, though when I called Cruzerlite, they said that the cases for AT&T are the translucent material as well. Image is of the Sprint version. I'll buy one anyway, as I am in meetings a lot and would like visibility of the notification light - hoping that I might actually catch the 1 in 30 second light bleep. Thx!

Yes basically. The hole around the camera and flash is smaller on the actual case, fitting it properly. The other big difference is that the rubber of the android guy is less translucent than the picture shows. You can't see the reflective finish through the android. You can however, see the AT&T logo through it.. You can see the finish through the non-android rubber. The cutouts for the buttons and ports are larger on the actual case. The buttons are recessed behind the case, not sticking out like in the picture. They still are easy to press but it will prevent accidental pushes in your pocket. Also its hard to see in that photo, but the left and right sides are ribbed and colored like the android.
I think that picture is a photoshop.

I appreciate the feedback and detail, Patsfan (go Pats - lived up there '76-'80)! The Diztronic case I have is great, though thought I'd pick up one of these to try out and have for a backup. The images for the AT&T version all look to be solid colors without any translucency. The person on the phone said they were, but she wasn't convincing.
Yes go Pats! I will try to take a picture but the only other camera I have is a nexus one. I also have a Diztronic case on order from Amazon.. Just waiting for it to ship.

got my Diztronic saturday, its one of the nicest cases I've ever had, for any phone including my old iPhones.
I got the clear cruzerlite to try, after having gone caseless for a while and also trying one of the inexpensive HR wireless hard cases for a few weeks. I like it.
I want to add as little bulk as possible so I like the size of the cruzerlite. Especially compared to the HR wireless's huge lip around the front. I don't use a screen protector but the front lip wraps around so little that I don't think it would interfere with one. The texture of the android guy and the sides is nice.
I originally wrote that the fit wasn't great. It seemed to be offset to one side. I have since pulled the case of and put it back on starting with the other side, and it is nearly perfect now. The only real downside about the appearance, to me, is the way the material sticks to the glass back in spots (like a static window cling). But that's really minimal.
They're buy 2 get 1 free at Amazon but I only got the one (and bought some other stuff with it so shipping was free).
Bought the Black and Green one off of Amazon with Prime Shipping. That and my phone arrive Thursday.

I bought this after using the Diztronic for a month. Made the phone feel more like the svelte hardware it should be, rather than a block. Protection does not deem to have suffered either.

How's the durability of the metal back this far?

I was very disappointed to see the matte finish wear off after only a few weeks on my HTC one x. With this one I'm thinking that the back may be a scratch magnet. Anyone have significant scratching on the back yet?
in pouch all the time, no chance to scratch it
Carry mine naked (the phone not me) and not a single mark on it yet. It may be to soon to tell but so far so good..
I panicked when I realized that my keys were in the same pocket as my phone. But not a scratch yet.

No scratches on the body, but like the guy before me I accidently dropped my phone into my pocket with keys, I got a couple small little nicks on the bezel but you can only see them on an angle. I'm going to see if I can polish them out. I googled it and saw that a normal kitchen sponge with the one rough side gets them out, Also heard toothpaste and just ordered some aluminum polish.
Other people only noticed when I show them, and my GF said I have severe OCD because the nicks are so tiny. She is right. It's not really noticeable to anyone but me, but it's driving me insane!

If the thing is going to looked chipped to hell in a month from normal use, I'll just return it now. My s3 started to chip the silver rim and I got rid of it immedaitely. I can't stand something that looks like crap for no reason whatsoever, actual damage is one thing but come on....

If it's a dummy version, it's clearly made with less resilient materials. The dummy model at my local Walmart looks terrible while the real phone at my local AT&T store is flawless.

This isn't one of those times. The buttons on the dummy phone are not usable, it's ridiculously light, and the feel is somewhat different. The real phone was sturdier and had functional buttons, of course. They were both set out on the same day in each store and the dummy looks terrible now while the real phone looks perfect. It's a pretty decent indicator of the dummy phone being made with cheaper materials.

I just don't believe that HTC would have spent the time to assemble a phone that isn't going to be functional since it apparently takes a lot of time to assemble the aluminum body for the HTC One.

No scratches on the aluminium surface but the beats audio red logo and writing have almost disappeared. White 'audio' writing still there.
I dropped my One on hardwood and it rolled over onto a brick ramp (I was at the entrance to a restaurant) and skidded down it on its back. There are some deep scratches on the back and scuffs, but it's okay. Definitely want to put a case on it if you plan on using it out on the street

The matte finish wears off much more easily because the material was plastic. Microscopically, a matte finish is just an unpolished, jagged surface. Since it's plastic, it's not hard enough to be able to withstand the forces exerted on it when rubbed by your pocket/hand/table long enough so it gets polished over time (check out a computer mouse that's been used for a long time). This is completely different than scratching or chipping, which is a complete removal or deformation of the material. The nice thing about plastic is that because it's soft, it's much easier for hairline scratches to "heal" over time as the surface gets rubbed on.
The aluminum back will definitely maintain the matte finish better than plastic because it is a harder material. Drawback is that since it's harder, it's also more brittle so it's more subject to chips/nicks and hairline scratches will stick around forever.
TL : DR Material properties are a *****. The matte finish (it's actually a bead blasted finish) will stick around for awhile as long as your hands/table/pockets aren't made of sandpaper or things harder than aluminum.

Tired of LG G2 shiny back cover?

I buffed my shine off with fine steel wool (grade 00) , then buffed it over a final time with ultra fine steel wool (grade 0000). It's available at any Home Depot. It leaves you with a slick matte finish, no gloss, no excessive fingerprints.
I removed my back cover to do this, but its not necessary. It's actually quite easy to remove, almost like a removable back cover. I just pushed my fingernail in and got a gap, then proceeded around the edges popping each clip as I went... Alternatively you could just put tape on your camera lense to avoid scratching it.

I'd love to see pictures of this as well, I just put on a slim flexible case and looks much better.

Wouldn't doing this mess up the screen printed logos on the back cover?

Sorry, I have my old GS3, so not great pics. I set it at 640x480 to avoid too large files. They do show its lighter, a charcoal color now vs. the original black and you can see its now matte and not shiney. A few small scratches at there, that I still need to rub out with the ultra fine steel wool.
Set 2 - new account here and it wont let me post more than once every 5 mins.
If I had thought about it, I would have done this with my S3 over a year ago... HATE THE SHINE...
The big take here, other than you can smack the shine off with steel wool, is that the back cover is easily removable, so I would assume 3rd party replacements with real soft touch back covers are a real possibility. I hate to have a case, but a new back cover with soft touch plastic ala Nexus 7 (either rubbery like '12 or soft like '13) would make this phone perfect... Whoot!
That looks pretty nice. It even removed Verizon's crap.

Yes, I shed a little tear for that... heheh . Too bad I cant steel wool the Verizon logo off the front without making it look like crap.
Looks great. only thing I am concerned for is the design under the gloss of the ATT version. I am pretty sure the rear panels differ between carrier. I just ordered the Spigen Slim Armor...if I don't like the case, I will give this a go.
