Wireless Charging - HTC Rezound

So does the Rezound have this built in the cover? Maybe why the phone is on the thicker side.

Yes. You need a wireless charging pad though.

i don't think it's built in man, they sell the wireless back cover for like 40 bucks. i think all the metal built in is for signal reception

So you don't need a new backdoor? Cool.
Will it work through a case?

Not sure. Also not sure about the case. I don't think you need a new back, but I'm not sure. Just out of curiosity, does anyone know when we will get a mod?

That looks an awful lot like the stock one, from vids and pics you can see there is quite of bit of metal and connections on the stock one.
Anyone see the pad?

It can be any regular charging pad. Powermat, Duracell Powergrid, whatever suits you.

In that Wirefly unboxing of the Rezound the guy specifically says the tabs on the cover we're for wireless charging.

^^ What he said

Are the pads even worth it? I have never had one, I have so many chargers in the same places I would want the pad to be, lol.

All: I have a Rezound and the stock battery door is NOT set up for charging... the Wirefly guy mistook the wiring on the back cover; it's actually for the antenna.
The charging battery door is an add-on accessory.

^^what he said.
the thunderbotl has the same metal things inside, they help the antenna. just like the tbolt, the door is an accessory that costs you 40 bucks.
do you all really think htc and verizon would give you a feature for free!? cmon now lol

I would be nice

They are giving us some for free with this phone! Like the Beats headphones! Look, $300 for a Nexus which can't remove the battery, has no SD, no Beats headphones. The RAZR for $300 has a ****tier screen, no removable battery, and no Beats heaphones, AND a locked BL. And this phone has a faster processor

Nexus has removable battery I think. But I get the point. That is why I am going for this phone. Also, we will have the ability to use both sense and aosp roms (including ICS) with this phone where the nexus is AOSP only and the razr is blur only. Sense is awesome if the hardware can support it, which this phone will obviously have no trouble.

yeah true......BUT, would verizon really give us ANOTHER FREE THING? hahahah
either way, the wireless charging isn't of interest to me..those powermat things are like 70 dollars. yeah, i like wired charging. what are you supposed to do when you want to use the phone and charge it at the same time? lol

Yea Practicality>Price. I have a car charger, my USB cord, and 2 wall chargers lol. When I get the ReZound I will have 3 wall chargers since it comes with another.

I have read online that the back cover is a wireless charger. Can post links if you like but all you have to do is GOOGLE a lil and read for your self. Still gonna wait a bit before I jump on this from my Dinc. But I'm pretty sure this is my next phone. Has any one else gotten an email from VZW this last week saying congrats you are able to get a new phone now? I got one last week and should not be up till after Feb. 2012. But hay Im glad they are gonna let me get a new one now!!!

I agree there is the antenna connection there, but there are about 3 other connections there that the thunderbolt dosen't have.

Anyone else miss the kickstand?

That's the only Evo 4G feature I'm really missing. I used it quite a bit... kind of bummed they got rid of it.
Best Buy sells a case with a kickstand. Inexplicably pricey like all cell phone cases, but worth it if you miss the kickstand.

Many more much needed upgrades that have been added, easily account for the kick stand and they sell nifty cases with manly kickstands

My kickstand messed up and wouldn't stay closed, so no I do not miss it.
I miss mine. I never put my phone flat on its face or on its back in fear of messing up the screen or camera. I always used the kick stand. It was really nice watching Sprint TV, web tv, hulu, movies, and playing video games using the kickstand. Now I have to go buy some stupid clunky case.
+1 for missing the kickstand. Maybe someone will make an extended battery case with a kickstand in it.. I'd buy that with real money.

I do, even though I never used it.
i miss it even though i didn't use it all that much. more of a show-off feature. i went into best buy today and looked at their piece of **** kickstand case. it is 35.00$ the actual kickstand is thin plastic. i will get an htc case with the big metal kickstand once i find a black one.
the one thing i am seeing though is when this phone is on it's kickstand the charging port is going to be sitting on the bottom. not a huge deal for me since i didn't use it for long periods of time, but a really big FAIL for htc. should have left the charging port at the bottom like the 4G
Never used it, to be honest.

well maybe i am mistaken. according to this pic the charge port will be on top on the htc case. i could have swore the POS best buy case was opposite. i even pointed it out to the girl trying to sell me one and she said "oh your right" now i definately will be getting one

Apparently the microUSB port does HDMI-out. Look up "MHL port" on google. Special cable required, of course, and an HDTV not more than 2 years old "might" be completely MHL compatible too.

[Q] Seidio 5,000 Extended Battery Released

That lump is just silly
this thing is huge!
No offense but, that thing is hideous. It takes less than 30 seconds to swap out a battery. For $80 you could buy the OEM charging station (includes OEM battery) + 2 spare OEM batteries. You would in effect have 10,000mah of battery power at your disposal.
Why not have a full backplate

Don't buy it. I had an extended battery on my Captivate that had a hump too and I hated it. I would just rather have the whole door be big then just the bottom part.

They designed it that way to keep NFC intact. Look at the backdoor of your Note and will see two contact points on the NFC antenna that need to make contact with two contact points next to the microsd card slot. NFC compatible extended batteries on eBay have the same design. Also might explain why Mugen is taking so long with their variant because they could not find a work around.
However, that battery might fit with one of the non NFC compatible back covers on eBay. So you could sacrifice NFC for a better look with the extended battery.

Not only is the battery expensive but it makes your phone ugly as sin. The phone is big enough but when you add this battery it turns it into a brick. Don't know why anyone would buy this.

I have one of these extended batteries on my Note. I also had one on my Blackberry before I switched to the Note. I require a long runtime with my phones, and I am not going to carry multiple batteries around with me to do so. Tried that with the BB, and hated it, and went the extended battery route.
So...I agree with the previous post about the battery door being stupid looking.
When I bought the extended battery (from ebay), I received a door for an international version of the note. I knew that was what I was getting since the extended battery door for the LTE version was not out yet, but I wanted to see if I could make it fit somehow. I also was aware that NFC would not work with the new door, and didn't care, since I haven't found a need for it yet.
I got the battery and international door in. battery fit fine, but door did not. I tried trimming the tabs a little and was able to make it fit, but not *lock* in place like the door should. The company I bought the extended battery from said they would send me the LTE door when they got them in, (that is another reason I was willing to try all of this).
I got the LTE door in. Yes, it is ugly. I like the style of the international door MUCH better. I am using the LTE door for now. Battery life on this "cheap" 5000 battery has been awesome. Previously, I was getting only about 6 hours per charge. Now, I am getting 10-12, which gets me through my day. No...it probably isn't a true 5000 battery, but for $12, and a company willing to work with me on the door, I was happy to try it out, and I am happy.
As for protection for the phone with an exteneded battery door, I have this coming in:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/120841214598?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
I am hoping that this will give some slight bumper protection but allow the battery bump to stick out. It only surrounds the very edge of the phone, not over the speaker like some of them do, which won't work.
Ok...to make this post even longer....
Anyone know of an extended battery door that looks like this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-GT-N7000-Extended-Capacity-Replacement/dp/B006W4JNZ6
that will work on the US LTE? I know it won't have the NFC antenna, but I don't care. I just want one that is shaped like that instead of the ugly bump one I have now.

Extended Battery Brick

Just got the official HTC extended battery installed on my phone. Dang. I wanted to believe it wouldn't be a big deal, but there is no denying that this increases the size and weight by a non-insignificant amount. Biggest issue is that one handed operation is now more difficult. Love the increase in battery life, but man... hard trade off with the size increase.
Instead I getting the extended I opted for two regular oem batteries and an external usb charger. The batteries were 5 each with a coupon and the usb charge was 3(its really cheap though and all the text is in chinese)
So I just throw a spare battery in my bag and if I have a really long day away from home ill just put in my spare.
I love the added junk. I feel like I have a better grip. But, I do pop in my regular battery from time to time to just feel how thin it can get.
But, you can't beat the added power. To me it is much easier than carrying around a battery and external charger all day.

It weighs more than my fist probably, so if I am ever in a life-or-death situation I will use my phone to beat the sh*t out of someone.
I wonder if that is covered under warranty....
Personally, I love the extended battery. The only thing I don't like is how they made it completely curved with no flat part. And they did it on purpose, cause if you look at the inside of the cover, it could have been flat. Anyway, I've always preferred battery life over thinness, as thinness is a gimmick essentially, unless you wear tight pants, which I don't lol but as always, that's my opinion. 2,500 mAh should be minimum for LTE super phones these days.

eBay. They got em for around $15 free shipping. As noted above though, the case creaks for some reason, its weird. And the back isnt flat, so it rocks back and forth. But hot damn the battery life is awesome lol I had 18% battery left with 8.5 hours of screen on time, with half of that being on LTE. Combine extended battery with switching between strictly LTE or strictly CDMA, and this thing goes forever.
I dig the way my phone feels with the extended battery, but I only use it on weekends when we are camping or hiking. During the week I'm never too far from a USB port so I just charge often.

Yep. It does creak. Alot. Try putting pieces of paper in certain places to fill in gaps. Just watch out for antennas.
You can go all day streaming Pandora on 4g. This battery is great. I only have to charge at night instead of carrying a charger with me. I can't exactly charge my phone in the middle of class.

well, I can definitely see it. The charger can charge 800-900mah and I've seen my phone discharge at a rate of 1100-1200mah so it can happen.
My phone has seen 130F playing jelly wars on 4g. Some people have gotten replacements that don't get that hot.
I live with it
I have two phones and the added bulk is a pain, I think if I only had to carry one I wouldn't mind it, it feels fine in my hands and for once one handed operations it actually feels pretty good, but with two phones, a wallet and keys in my front pockets things start to feel very bulky fast. luckily my other phones to SGS2 is thin or I don't think it would be manageable, still I look forward to upgrading to a S4 phone later this year, which hopefully should be power efficient enough on LTE to move to a thinner Verizon lte phone with similar battery life, maybe a razr maxx hd or something with a similar battery size and thinness, which is actually the only reason I feel I need an upgrade.

So you spent like $150 on chargers? No way could I spend that kind of money on a few phone chargers.
It was $130 with the discount. I figure it'd be worth the convenience factor since I was starting to get annoyed by having to open and close the usb cover all the time when I just want to use it for 5-10 minutes. Hopefully it'll keep the cover from breaking off too. Assuming Qi doesn't lose market share to that other one that is coming out, I will probably still be able to use them for the next 3-4 years at the least. If not, I can always gift it to people I guess.

Mine got in today and I'm impressed with how fast it charged it from about 40% to full charge in less than 3 hours. That's without a case though, the Otterbox should be here in a day or two, if it can stay sort of close to this, I'll be an official HTC fanboy (at least until Samsung gets their act together again )
Fatboy Pillow Out of Stock
The pillow is out of stock, though the plate is not and it's $10 cheaper.
Is there any difference in quality/charging speed/anything important between the pillow and the plate? Their output seems to be the same from the specs I've read.
Amazon has the plate in stock for $49.99 and it's Prime eligible, but I wanted to see if there was any advantage to the pillow before pulling the trigger on this.
They are the same charger. If you pull out the charger in the pillow, it's just the plate.

The charge the same, the only difference is that you can have a giant ugly red pillow if you want for $10 extra, and then you get to look back in 5 years and laugh about how dumb they were.
I still only buy basketball shoes with pumps in them though.....

[Q] Wireless Charging back plate - where and how much?

Hello,
I thought I'd start a thread for when people find a wireless charging backplate that works with the Verizon G3.
I really hope they just make life easy and sell an identical sized wireless backplate so we can use whatever case we want. They really blew it.. But to be honest if I have the spare battery and external charger it's probably easier to just pop a fresh battery in when needed and the wireless is kind of unnecessary.
This isn't really in the right section.
I ordered the gold back that many AT&T owners bought on Monday. I'll let people know if it works. It doesn't say it's shipped yet, but he left feedback the day I bought it so I assume he just doesn't label it shipped like some other sellers. It's going from California to Virginia so I probably won't have it until Monday.

as I posted in the wireless charging thread;
LG makes a slim case backing that supports wireless charging. It is a case / replaces the back panel. It is on their site and shown as a pre order on some websites such as mobilefun.
new member, cant post links, sorry.
I posted in the main g3 thread, and figured I'd post here as well. Verizon now has the quick circle folio case with qi charging on the main site. It isn't on the business site, but they were able to take my order over the phone no problem.

Good to know it is indeed qi. There were a couple rumors that it was possibly powermat. Most people didn't think that, but it's nice to have confirmation.

AT&T doesnt use Qi, so this wouldnt work for VZW users. AT&T uses powermat.
I only get a 15% disc on the folio case from vzw.com so it would be $47.69 with tax .. do y'all think its worth that?

Yes but before people realized this, they bought a qi international edition back on ebay. It's never been confirmed that they work and aren't fake somehow because no one without an AT&T version has tried it. It's qi, not powermat.

only in black and $60, lame
You probably have selected the wrong case if your looking for the qi version, if you want the charging version it is $59.99 base. with 15% off pre tax it should be $51.00

You can just take the qi part out and put it in your phone though.

Ill wait for the other stuff that the S3/4/5 have - 20 dollar add on thing that goes in the back.
What about the European version? Hope we can just purchase a back for the European version somewhere as I believe it comes with QI charging built in.

I was considering doing the same, but I'd hate to put out the cash and it not work. I mean Qi is just one part of the equation, are the pins in the same spot?
I have the Verizon case in my shopping cart but I don't really want the circle case and I'm still looking for instructions for how to "transplant" the wireless charging bits to the stock Verizon back.

That may not be released. Wouldn't make much sense to make a custom wireless charging adapter for a phone that already supports wireless charging. The backs on ebay probably will go down eventually. I got mine for $30 but it's gone up since then.

And why there is no wireless charging out of box Even if VZW just get a 10% attach rate, it would be $3,000,000 in revenue if VZW sold 500,000 G3's. That would be about $2,500,000 of pure profit (that is after product, box and shipping/handling costs).
Took a look at the Verizon LG G3's today. They do not have 4 connectors, only 2 that I assume is NFC. It did appear to have 2 coils on the back cover but I could easily be mistaken. Here are a few pics of the insides of the Verizon G3:

That's the question YOU have to answer, is it worth it to you?
