[Q] Seidio 5,000 Extended Battery Released - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

Seidio has released there 5,000 mAh battery. It is on there site for $79. I'm gonna try it, just wish it had the extended battery door like the n7000.

Looks a bit ridiculous

Why Seidio Why??
That lump is just silly

this thing is huge!

No offense but, that thing is hideous. It takes less than 30 seconds to swap out a battery. For $80 you could buy the OEM charging station (includes OEM battery) + 2 spare OEM batteries. You would in effect have 10,000mah of battery power at your disposal.

Why not have a full backplate
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA

Don't buy it. I had an extended battery on my Captivate that had a hump too and I hated it. I would just rather have the whole door be big then just the bottom part.
That is my opinion of course.

They designed it that way to keep NFC intact. Look at the backdoor of your Note and will see two contact points on the NFC antenna that need to make contact with two contact points next to the microsd card slot. NFC compatible extended batteries on eBay have the same design. Also might explain why Mugen is taking so long with their variant because they could not find a work around.
However, that battery might fit with one of the non NFC compatible back covers on eBay. So you could sacrifice NFC for a better look with the extended battery.

I had one of these type bateries for my blackberry storm...same crappy backing same lump. Only case u could buy was their case lol

Not only is the battery expensive but it makes your phone ugly as sin. The phone is big enough but when you add this battery it turns it into a brick. Don't know why anyone would buy this.

Seidios next project, the 10,000 battery.

lmao!
I would love this battery. The only reason I havent purchased it yet is because I cant find a damned case that will accommodate it. I could give 2 ****s about NFC or the size of my phone (in fact i have always used extended batteries and I think it makes me drop them less). Does anybody know whether there is a case for our ATT version that fits around the camels hump?

I have one of these extended batteries on my Note. I also had one on my Blackberry before I switched to the Note. I require a long runtime with my phones, and I am not going to carry multiple batteries around with me to do so. Tried that with the BB, and hated it, and went the extended battery route.
So...I agree with the previous post about the battery door being stupid looking.
When I bought the extended battery (from ebay), I received a door for an international version of the note. I knew that was what I was getting since the extended battery door for the LTE version was not out yet, but I wanted to see if I could make it fit somehow. I also was aware that NFC would not work with the new door, and didn't care, since I haven't found a need for it yet.
I got the battery and international door in. battery fit fine, but door did not. I tried trimming the tabs a little and was able to make it fit, but not *lock* in place like the door should. The company I bought the extended battery from said they would send me the LTE door when they got them in, (that is another reason I was willing to try all of this).
I got the LTE door in. Yes, it is ugly. I like the style of the international door MUCH better. I am using the LTE door for now. Battery life on this "cheap" 5000 battery has been awesome. Previously, I was getting only about 6 hours per charge. Now, I am getting 10-12, which gets me through my day. No...it probably isn't a true 5000 battery, but for $12, and a company willing to work with me on the door, I was happy to try it out, and I am happy.
As for protection for the phone with an exteneded battery door, I have this coming in:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/120841214598?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
I am hoping that this will give some slight bumper protection but allow the battery bump to stick out. It only surrounds the very edge of the phone, not over the speaker like some of them do, which won't work.
Ok...to make this post even longer....
Anyone know of an extended battery door that looks like this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-GT-N7000-Extended-Capacity-Replacement/dp/B006W4JNZ6
that will work on the US LTE? I know it won't have the NFC antenna, but I don't care. I just want one that is shaped like that instead of the ugly bump one I have now.

He did apologize though and offer me a free shoelace in consolation. :/ I guess I will never have a case that fits over the extended battery for this phone. Maybe someone with some milling tools could make me an aluminum shark cage for it. Hmmmm.

Biggest Battery Capacity in Stock Size?

I'm wonder if there is any batteries out there that you have seen from a brand you trust that use the stock diamentions as the stock battery, eg doesn't require extended back casing, only one I know of is the Seidio's 1400mAh, is there anything higher? Better brand, better price?
the only ones i've seen bigger have the extended batteries. they go up to 2600mAh.
buy one. believe me. its worth the big back/ugly bump.
function>aesthetics anyday(at least for me)
I already have one 2600mAh from Seidio, I do enjoy the extra grip when qwerty typing but I don't enjoy it in my pocket. Thus the reason I'm asking, rather get 2 x 1400mAh batts and shove one in my wallet if you know what I mean
i feel the exact opposite. i dont mind it as much when im not using it. when im holding it i cant stand it. but i do like the fact i dont have to keep a charger handy all the time. i know theres a couple normal size batteries around that SAY there 1600mAh and up but there kind of shaky to me. no brand name, barely even a name at all half the time. i wont trust anything besides seidio for extended life, i have a seidio 3400mAh i think in my tilt and its EPIC.

2600 mAh battery on G1
Hey guys, so I purchased a 2600 mAh battery for my G1. I LOVE it! My G1 stays on for days! Despite having the extended back on the phone I think it was well worth it.I got it on EBay for pretty darn cheap too. Anyways...I don't have any screen shots of it as of right now but I'll try to get some up. My phone does look like a brick but the battery life is improved so much! Look them up on EBay if you would like to buy one, anywhere else is probably a rip off. Anyways...just thought I'd give my two cents. Take it easy guys! TTYL!
I really want the Seidio 2600 but I've gotten attached to my hard case, it has the hinged feet, and I'm not sure that 1400 would be worth the cash for the amount gained IMO... If Seidio made a hard case with the feet on the back it would be perfect.
Just bought a seidio 2600, 51 shipped from amazon. It's a little high compaired to the 2300 for like 30 or so from ebay, but I think it's worth it for a good branded 3rd party accessory.

people have been talking about a 1600mah battery made by Andida, a Hong Kong-based company. from what it seems, they make quality batteries and some people at XDA have them. it fits into the regular G1 back... it's on ebay: obo_hk or something. $10. otherwise yeah the 2600mah seidio's are best. i just bought the seidio or would switch to the Andida. maybe my dad will let me do a return since the Seidio was bought on Amazon

Ah thank you. But no I'm not paying that much for a battery. Especially since I've been using the phone for barely a week now.
Also, since it replaces the back cover of the phone I'm a little bit skeptical. I'd rather just buy a spare from motorola when the prices drop (couple of months from now?)
Photon Battery
3500 mah batteries and covers have surfaced on ebay. I've order one, hopefully it will be OK. I searched on "Photon battery".

Seidio has their extended life battery available, but I think it's like $80 as well. Has anyone confirmed or denied if the Atrix battery works with the Photon? Since I heard some place it was 1900 mah.
atrix doesnt work but the driod 3 battery does
id be interested to see what kinda quality the cover is. the seidio one i had on my evo was too fast and easy break. after a few battery pulls from my flashing needs, that dang cover had snapped tabs.
The photon has one heck of a grip on the battery cover and it would be hard for me to swap that out for a extended battery one that is week and not fitting as good as stock.
I vote to have an extra battery in the briefcase or a little solar charger unit that holds charge if you plan to be away form a wall plug for extended times.
I get over 20 hours with my stock battery, rarely is there not a charger around me. and if i dont have a charger around for that long of time, i normally have my phone off bc i dont want to hear from the world then (hunting, fishing, on the lake)

when you consider that a 1650 mah battery from motorola costs 49 dollars a quality extended battery with 3600 mah isnt all that expensive. These batteries provide freedom from carrying chargers and extra batteries around. Mugen makes high quality extended batteries and give you the power you pay for which is more than can be said for cheapo chinese batteries on ebay, some of which dont even provide the power they advertise. You get what you pay for.
---------- Post added at 04:04 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:55 AM ----------
Both Mugen and Seidio Extended batteries are a great buy. They free you from carrying a charger around or extra oem batteries and having to worry about charging them throughout the day.
The motorola photon battery costs 49 bucks, dont expect the price to go down.
At 3600mah and 3500 mah respectively, these extended batteries will last you two full days without charging with heavy phone use, texting and some web browsing.
While these batteries do ad some bulk to your phone I have found them to be very handy. Having used batteries from both companies on my Evo and other phones, the added bulk is not a problem at all and actually makes it easier to handle the phones. The only disadvantage is that you will not be able to use cases on your phone. That problem is easily solved by buying a pouch with a beltclip and store your phone in that. With my evo I use a belt clip pouch from best buy.....24 bucks. Seidio usually makes extended cases that will fit phones using their extended batteries.

Comfortability- standard vs extended battery

Which feel do you prefer, disregarding performance. I have both, and I feel like I'm in a Goldilocks position here. The regular battery, I was afraid I was going to drop the phone because it was thin, and the extended one I was afraid I was going to drop the phone because it feels like the battery door is so awkward. Does it just take some getting used to?
Title should be "Comfort"...
I don't like extended batteries on any device. I don't care if my phone is slim or not, but I don't want a brick in my pocket/hand.
I don't like the bother of having to get an extended battery. it should just come with 10,000mAh stock.
I do like the added thickness of an extended battery though. this Rezound is too small for my hands.

Kidding aside, in reality they should sell the phone without the back/battery and allow you to pay the difference for whichever option you choose. Wireless Charging Cover, Extended Battery+Cover, or Regular Battery + regular cover.

Just put an Otterbox case on it, that'll make it feel a lot bigger.
When I went from the dinc to this phone I thought I'd be uncomfortable with the size in my hand but it doesn't really feel all that much bigger. Maybe it's the contour of the back cover, I dunno.

So far my only complaint is that the phone and case is very slippery (i'm used to the silicone case) so it slides easily out of my pocket and onto the floor. I may investigate pouring my own silicone case mold of some kind.
Just to make sure i'm getting the same one that you have took pictures of, is this it? i don't see a single picture on the website.

Why not just use a second battery and swap? I hate how fat it is.
Do not want to hijack the topic but seidio batteries are equally good , if not better
and cheaper

Except with a horrible horrible hump.
The Mugen looks too thick for my tastes but the Seidio one is horrible beyond measure.
Looking at the Seido battery, it is $20 cheaper, but also 400ma less than the other one. Not sure how much 400ma equals in terms of usable time, maybe 30-45 mins? I just wish the Seido case didn't look chopped in half. Mugen case is at least uniform.

I actually don't mind the thickness -- it fits well into my hand, gives the phone some "fill". I usually use a case with the phone anyway, so it's not much thicker than that.
Obviously, extended batteries aren't for everyone. I actually do have a 2nd battery but then I need a place to carry it, and I don't just want it banging around in my pocket.
Another problem is that to swap batteries, you need to pry off the case, pull the flimsy OEM back cover, take out the battery and put the new one in, shutting down your phone in the process. Then you have to repower the phone, reapply the cover, reapply the case, and you've lost whatever you were doing in the interim.
Having more than double the battery power that's just "always there" is a much better option for me, but I haven't fully made up my mind yet.

Very good point I also do have 2 batteries as well and switching between batteries is kind of annoying. So what kind of screen on times are getting and what's your battery life looking like towards the end of the day?

Will someone hit my thanks meter I think mine is broken
It's too early to tell but I took it off the charger around 4pm yesterday, and it's now 9am and I'm at 78%.
Once I am down near the end of the battery I will post some BBB screens.
I like the looks of this battery cover MUCH more than the one I have now for my extended battery. This looks so much more professional that the "warts" that the other manufactures have made to accommodate the NFC antenna. Very cool design to get the antenna in there.
Plus, this one gives more room for my Qi Wireless Charging project I want to work on...
just purchased mine. i "liked" them on facebook and got 7% off.
guess i gotta sell my black seidio active case and my tryit black leather flip case now. pm me if you are interested.
21 hours on the battery now . It's still the first charge so these numbers will probably change, but it's at 75%.
Here is BetterBatteryStats:
1. What is the blue strip across the top in the first picture?
I think I see, this is the kickstand.
2. Why is there a sticker covering the entire back of the cover (I think in pic 3)?
3. Does NFC work with this battery?
4. Is the kickstand part of the replacement case?
5. Does it replace only the back battery cover?
6. Can you snap another photo showing the battery actually in the phone without the cover?
7. From what it looks like, it makes the phone about twice as thick... is that about right?
8. Is it heavier?
Im not meaning to be a pain, Im very much considering picking up an extended battery and my experience with Seido batteries has been very positive but I think I like the design of this better than the Seido, I just want to make sure.
FYI, $92 on Amazon...

That's what Pic 3 is. The battery sticks out of the phone. That's why the new cover is fatter.

Of course. I didn't weigh it before I put the new battery in, but WITH the new battery and the case, it weighs 240 g.

So here you can see the stats for today. 11 hours on the battery, moderate use, 1 h 11 m of screen-on time, some bluetooth, short phone calls. On the stock battery, I'd be down around 50 or 40%, but I am at 75% on this.
It's got a TON of power.

Extended Battery Brick

Just got the official HTC extended battery installed on my phone. Dang. I wanted to believe it wouldn't be a big deal, but there is no denying that this increases the size and weight by a non-insignificant amount. Biggest issue is that one handed operation is now more difficult. Love the increase in battery life, but man... hard trade off with the size increase.
Instead I getting the extended I opted for two regular oem batteries and an external usb charger. The batteries were 5 each with a coupon and the usb charge was 3(its really cheap though and all the text is in chinese)
So I just throw a spare battery in my bag and if I have a really long day away from home ill just put in my spare.
I love the added junk. I feel like I have a better grip. But, I do pop in my regular battery from time to time to just feel how thin it can get.
But, you can't beat the added power. To me it is much easier than carrying around a battery and external charger all day.

true but i dont acutally carry around the battery charger and so far i've never needed to use it even with my heavy usage. its just there for one of those long days when i might be away from a charger from like 5am to 10 or 11pm

I feel it makes one hand operation easier and I have small hands. I love the grip, knowing it's in my pocket and knowing that I can stream a movie and beat someone to death...at the same damn time haha

I don't like how the extended battery for looks but it does feel like I'm less likely to drop it

It weighs more than my fist probably, so if I am ever in a life-or-death situation I will use my phone to beat the sh*t out of someone.
I wonder if that is covered under warranty....
Personally, I love the extended battery. The only thing I don't like is how they made it completely curved with no flat part. And they did it on purpose, cause if you look at the inside of the cover, it could have been flat. Anyway, I've always preferred battery life over thinness, as thinness is a gimmick essentially, unless you wear tight pants, which I don't lol but as always, that's my opinion. 2,500 mAh should be minimum for LTE super phones these days.

i do believe bludgening someone to death via phone is totally covered under warranty. as long as there's no visible blood splatter.
and yay, my extended is coming today =) i'm excited to try it out..perfect timing too, bceause my TPU case from verizon is arriving today as well....two different sellers, same day. nice luck. oh god...2 sellers, 1 day....1 cup......i feel so dirty.
Ha! That was totally unnecessary! it took me too long to get that video out of my head and now it's right back.

eBay. They got em for around $15 free shipping. As noted above though, the case creaks for some reason, its weird. And the back isnt flat, so it rocks back and forth. But hot damn the battery life is awesome lol I had 18% battery left with 8.5 hours of screen on time, with half of that being on LTE. Combine extended battery with switching between strictly LTE or strictly CDMA, and this thing goes forever.
I dig the way my phone feels with the extended battery, but I only use it on weekends when we are camping or hiking. During the week I'm never too far from a USB port so I just charge often.

Yep. It does creak. Alot. Try putting pieces of paper in certain places to fill in gaps. Just watch out for antennas.
You can go all day streaming Pandora on 4g. This battery is great. I only have to charge at night instead of carrying a charger with me. I can't exactly charge my phone in the middle of class.
is the rezound supposed to drain battery even when pluged in and in use, not even streaming audio no gps on or wifi? on a 1amp charger also...
also is 124F hot for rezound

crazy video, have it saved on the pc somewhere...
As far as the extended battery, check out thunderbolt extended batteries, same exact specs. I found them on amazon for 3.50 a piece but I think that supplier is sold out.

well, I can definitely see it. The charger can charge 800-900mah and I've seen my phone discharge at a rate of 1100-1200mah so it can happen.
My phone has seen 130F playing jelly wars on 4g. Some people have gotten replacements that don't get that hot.
I live with it
I have two phones and the added bulk is a pain, I think if I only had to carry one I wouldn't mind it, it feels fine in my hands and for once one handed operations it actually feels pretty good, but with two phones, a wallet and keys in my front pockets things start to feel very bulky fast. luckily my other phones to SGS2 is thin or I don't think it would be manageable, still I look forward to upgrading to a S4 phone later this year, which hopefully should be power efficient enough on LTE to move to a thinner Verizon lte phone with similar battery life, maybe a razr maxx hd or something with a similar battery size and thinness, which is actually the only reason I feel I need an upgrade.
