hi i came across this thread today and thought id test them out. i cant confirm all work. the weather clock needs to full stretch across columns and 3 rows but 1st impressions it looks very good. ive added my homescreen with the weather and message widget, hope you find this useful. obviously i give credit to timbrendelaz for original post.

edit :
1. extract zip and install as normal apks.
2. some force closes on certain widgets but repeat and they work.
3. weather/clock widgets seem to best with VERTICAL full length column and 3 rows (for me 5x3) but depends on column and row settings you have. HORIZONTAL is a bit out of line with the digits.
attached: screenshot with message and weatherclock widgets.

Nice find, i just had a look at some of the Widgets, they look good but are a bit too much for me, I like a minimalistic look waaaayyyy too much!!
Cheers anyway sly.

Widgets for Androkkid

On ssj5trunks' (the developer of Androkkid) request, I 'm opening a thread for widget for this great program.
The Androkkid comes with these widgets:
AnalogClock
Battery: Widget without text for QVGA is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4879711&postcount=126
DigitalClock
HeroClock
Line Operator
NextAppointment
PhotoFrame
wmdirk has supplied a widget library to facilitate the development of widgets, version 1.4, Dec. 26, 2009: http://sites.google.com/site/wmdsoft/wmd-androkkid-lib
After talking to wmdirk (and because I no longer use Androkkid), I've decided to change this first post. wmdirk's widgets will not be updated here but on his webpage http://sites.google.com/site/wmdsoft/home. He seems to be the only one currently making widgets for Androkkid, and he is very successful in doing so. But some of the widgets are not free, and I didn't want to mix the free and the commercially available in one list. However, this thread will still be used by wmdirk to answer questions regarding his widgets, and to announce new ones.
Other widgets that have to be installed separately (I'll try to keep this updated and with the newest first):
This is a list of wmdirk's widgets: some of them free http://sites.google.com/site/wmdsoft/home
WMD-NextAppointments
WMD-Clock+
WMD-RegInfo
WMD-Clock
WMD-TaskManager
WMD-WifiToggle
WMD-BTToggle
WMD-Profile
WMD-Calculator
WMD-Agenda
WMD-Tasks
Other widgets: all free
RSS Script / Widget by qkzoo Jan. 10, 2010: Not really a widget, but a Mortscript that can be used in conjunction with WMD's RegInfo widget. It downloads the XML from an RSS feed, strips the relevent data out of it, and plugs it into your registry.

hgTasksToday by ajige Oct. 1, 2009:will show up to 7 outlook tasks that are due today. Clicking on the widget will take you to the tasks program. The widget will redraw every 10 min. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4917995&postcount=186
Installing:
Unzip the files to the Widget directory and Androkkid will automatically detect the widgets. Then holding on the desktop, click add, then widget, then select it, and ok and they should show up on the desktop.
Skinning:
The widgets can be skinned by changing the background image - bg.png in the gfx directory. However, it's important to keep the same size as the original, otherwise the font won't show well.
Perhaps I´m too stupid, but how do i install these widgets?
I had a look at the androkkid discussion, but don´t find a solution.....
Thanks for the help.

No, you are not stupid, I'm the one who was sloppy and forgot instructions.
You should just unzip the files to the Widget directory and Androkkid will automatically detect it. Then holding on the desktop, click add, then widget, then select it, and ok.
The weather widget has a settings menu you can reach by clicking in the top half. Not all the settings have an effect yet. Clicking lower on the widget, should refresh, but I'm not sure that's working yet. Also I forgot to delete a debug message. Will try and upload a new version today.
Wether widget updated in first post (messages used for debug purposes have been removed).
Also updated information re installation and skinning.
+1 I look forward to see some more widgets. Your hard work is apperciated. thanks

Here is a Weaher Widget I have been working on. I have beased it on Titanium Weather. I shoukd have it ready in a couple of days for some testing. It depends on how my time permits. I plan on having the next 4 days forecast in the empty area in the middle.
Very nice! Cant wait to preview.

looking forward to your weather widget goraps
Another preview.
Maybe ready in a few days. Just got to work on the update process.
Good job on the widgets!
Having problems finding information on how the widget interfaces with Androkkid and need some example code. A simple "Hello World" widget would be useful and would provide a springboard for creation of new widgets.
Failing that some source code of any developed widget to date.
Edit: Scratch that, just noticed some widget source code on the main site
Looking for the Weather code for London England and Bedford England which site are they on as I put in the Weather.com code for it and it crashed Androkkid
edit is it UKXX0014 for bedford and UKXX0085 for London ??

I'll try to have a new version of the weather widget with the source code later today, and I'll have some more error testing to try and prevent crashes.
It is important though to be connected to the internet when installing the weather widget or changing the location.
In order to test the weather codes, you can put the following in your browser's adress bar:
http://weather.yahooapis.com/forecastrss?p=UKXX0085
and it should give you the same weather forecast I'm using in the widget
hgWeather updated with source.
The weather is updated from the Yahoo RSS weather feed.
It will show the current and next day's forecast. You can add several widgets to use for several cities.

Skinning:
Bacground (bg.bmp) can be changed as long as the size is the same.
Or the background can be transparent.
Font color and size can be changed.
Weather icons can be changed as long as the naming convention is the same. The included icons comes from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=354111&page=180, post 1798
Additionally icons can be found here: http://pixel.dnsalias.net/weatherpanel/wiki/index.php/Weather_Icons
Clicking in the upper half will take you to the settings.
Clicking in the lower half will update the weather.
Most of the weather code comes from: http://www.cjcraft.com/blog/2008/06/19/30DaysOfNETWindowsMobileApplicationsDay18MobileWeather.aspx

It would be great if other people could improve on this widget.
I used the free developer tool Sharp Develop to compile the widget.
Just tried with weather code UKXX1730 it has updated and allows me to add to the page but i am only seeing the bottom half of the image you have provided plus if i change the temp to c instead of f it still shows farenheit temperature.
im not sure how others feel but ideally i would like to add a weather widget to my homescreen along with the clock and a row of priority icons or have a small icon sized image which when clicked on brings up full details

Are you using the version posted yesterday? Because with the latest version, when I change from f to c or opposite, it changes temperature. But you need to be connected to the internet when changing from temperature unit.
When you say only the bottom shows, what parts are showing? City? Current weather? Next day's forecast?
Sometimes you have to click several times before it properly updates from the internet.

Yes, that has been my goal too, but I'm having some problems with the forecast rss, so I'm giving it a rest for now. But the code is there so maybe someone else wants to give it a try? I would also like to have better support for different cities.
Otherwise, you could use the transparent version, set the color of the code to the same as the background, and then you would only see the icons.
If i have time i create the top bar widget to add TopBar in Android with widget and not in Androkkid directly.
Or if anyone want create it i think this is a good widget for all.
Bye
P.S.
I look for the problem of Menu for contact.
I test it in my diamond and when i try it work, i retest it.

Yes please do this would be cool!!!
OK. So I have finished the initial release of GORAPSWeather Widget for Androkkid. This is my first Androkkid Widget so please bare with me.
First all the credit to ssj5trunks for such a great app and the source code to the Hero Clock widget which I used as the code base for this widget.
Second thanks to Showaco for his Titanium Weather which I used as the weather base for this widget.
Note: This widget requires Mortscript.
Installation and Setup Instructions
1) Downlad and unpack GORAPSWeather.zip
2) Open GorapsWeather.mscr with a text editor and make the appropriate changes to the two variables: location and units.
- Change location to the accuweather.com location code for your location.
If you need to find your code go to www.accuweather.com/m and search for your city. Then you will see the location code in the URL. It will look something like NAM|CA|ON|MARKHAM.
- Change units to C or F.
3) Save your edited script.
4) Copy the GORAPSWeather folder to the Androkkid widgets folder on your phone.
5) Execute the click on the GorapsWeather.mscr in a file explorer to initialize the values. If you don't do this and add the widget it will crash Androkkid.
6) Add the widget to your Androkkid desktop. Clicking on the widget will update the weather data.
I hope you like it.

[SOLVED] Pattern Lock Screen: How do I change the clock font and dots?

UPDATE: All info in this thread summarized here: [GUIDE] Pattern lock tweaks - Wallpaper Brightness, Pattern Lock Dots, etc.
Rooted phone running Cognition 1.5.1. I am using a pattern lock so I have the standard Samsung lockscreen.
How can I change the clock font on the pattern lock screen? It looks very out of place compared to the other fonts.
Can I make the pattern lock dots smaller or more transparent? I don't like how it covers up almost all of my wallpaper. I know CyanogenMod has an option to make the pattern lock dots completely invisible. I don't really want that either, I just want them to be less obstructive.
Thanks in advance!
You can't change them afaik! You can always use third party lockscreen app like Widget Locker to get your desired lock screen.
I figured out how to change the clock font. Simply replace the Clockopia.ttf in /system/fonts. You can also use the Font Changer app, available on XDA or Market: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=874658
However I noticed that my replacement clock font did not seem to line up properly. I think this is a common problem with replacing Clockopia.ttf. So you might need to adjust your font with something like FontForge first. Check out the guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=990853
UPDATE: This thread on Rootzwiki gives a good description of the Clockopia alignment problem and how to fix it. Basically, use a font editor to replace the glyphs in the Clockopia.ttf with the glyphs from your favorite font.
Still investigating the pattern lock dots.
Figured out the pattern lock dots! The files are in the framework-res.apk, under res\drawable-hdpi. There are two files you need to edit:
btn_code_lock_default.png -- This is the white dot in the middle
indicator_code_lock_point_area_default.png -- This is the dark circular background of the dot
I reduced the size of the white dot by 50% and used a clear transparent background so it doesn't block the wallpaper. Files are attached below in case anyone wants to use these.
One more discovery today. Normally the pattern lock wallpaper is not as bright as the original -- there's a dim or dark filter over it. To change this, decompile framework-res.apk (need to use apktool or apk_manager), and edit res\layout\keyguard_screen_unlock_portrait.xml.
On line 4, change android:background="#70000000" to android:background="@color/transparent"
Compile framework-res.apk and put it back into system\framework. Reboot and you should see that the pattern lock wallpaper is much brighter!
Also I've made another set of pattern lock dots. For this one, I reduced both the white middle dot and the outer ring by 50%. Then I increased the transparency of both and made the outer ring a lighter gray. So now the dots are larger, but even less intrusive. I've attached the files below, plus a screenshot.
Thanks a lot for the background transparency trick ! That was exactly what I was loogking for.
Also, may I add something just for information if ppl need it :
There are other files if you want a complete edit :
the ones you told about :
btn_code_lock_default.png (the small dot in the center)
indicator_code_lock_point_area_default.png (the black circle around)
The pngs that shows up when the pattern is the wrong one :
indicator_code_lock_point_area_red.png (the circle around)
indicator_code_lock_drag_direction_red_up.png (the arrow showing the direction)
And if you use "visible pattern" in the options, these are the green ones :
indicator_code_lock_point_area_green.png
indicator_code_lock_drag_direction_green_up.png
btn_code_lock_touched.png (the small dot in the center, touched version)
One more thing, if you're only editing pngs, you don't need apk tool, a simple unzip with 7zip is possible.
Thanks for the modification ideas.
I am using a Htc Desire on dGB aosp rom but just to add to this thread. In the keyguard_screen_unlock_portrait.xml, I changed:
android:background="#70000000" to android:background="@drawable/patternlock_background"
Added an image called patternlock_background.png to the drawable-hdpi folder.
Made some of the images mentioned in the previous posts transparent.
And came up with this:
Obviously, I still need to edit other aspects of that screen to tidy it up.
Great work LfcFan1977! I would be really interested in seeing more wallpapers that incorporate the pattern lock into their design. There could be some pretty cool ideas by mixing a pattern lock wallpaper with custom pattern dots and lines.
Yea, I have been wanting this kind of mod ever since I got my Android.
Here's a few ideas:
Galaxy with stars/rockets/shuttles/astronauts/planets/moons.
Dot to dot of a gingerbread man.
Flowers with the honeycomb bee.
Treasure maps and pirates.
Football.
Homer Simpson and donuts.
Pacman.
Anyway, I had a bit more of a play with the xml/images and got this.
Hi,
a few month ago I investigated the size of the background image to fit the pattern dots, and after a few experiments I saw that android was doing a bit of resizing, even if the image was exactly the screen size.
What worked for me, is to make an image smaller than 800 in height (763px to be precise) and 480 in width (regular width of 1 screen). But when done editing, I stretch its height back to 800. Then, when applying within gallery ("use as..."), it stretch it back to undeformed.
I made a template in photoshop, for those who are interested, also with my actual pattern background. Still can't post urls here, so...it's hosted at mediafire.com :
Code:
/?fo04gtvp82y1xw1 (the template)
/?82txu5qxdea6usb (the background)
Wow, this thread is a great resource for customizing the lockscreen, and it's rather painless (not much APK tool messing to do, if simple unzip, rezip works, wonderfull )
This is going into my bookmarks
I wish I would have found this thread sooner. I was looking for which files to edit for the buttons but found them elsewhere. I still have one question, though. Does anyone know how to change the path color? I can't find which file it is located in. TIA.
I can only assume the colour is applied by something in the framework.jar but as my understanding of smali coding is practically none, I can not figure it out.
I was thinking that maybe re-posting all the previous information and the above question in the android themes thread may be better. I do not think any of it is device or rom specific and we may need a wider audience in order to resovle questions like the last one.
I can't find the path color in the xml or png files so it must be something in smali code. Moving to the Android themes forum is a good idea. I am going to summarize everything and repost it in that forum.
Check out the new thread here! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330063

launcher8 tutorial request

I've known of this launcher as well as L7 and SS Launcher but I haven't seen any tutorials for L8. Do we have any experienced users of this application who could be so kind as to write a detailed tutorial with pictures so others can keep the unrelated BS questions out of the main general discussion thread
Sent from my ICS powered LG Optimus T
This launcher (launcher8) is quite basic and simple to use. Unfortunately I don't have the time to create a tutorial. But if you want to know anything, you can always send me a PM.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk 2
With the simplicity set aside, I was wondering if there was a website dedicated to all tiles?
Sent from my ICS powered LG Optimus T
Search on Google "Windows 8 tiles deviantart." I've got lots of tiles from that site. I don't exactly remember the link.

On the screenshot, there's a tile that scrolls but I'd like to change that scrolling feature and use something different? How do I change it?

Looks like a great program.
I agree with OP. I'm looking for the same thing. Googling for info led me not many places but here.
A five minute video walking through a typical screen setup would be wonderful.
Or a post with one or two or ten pointers that everyone should know starting out with the launcher would also be great.
Whoever takes the time to do this will surely be met with extrinsic rewards in the form of many scincere thank-you votes, as well as intrinsic sense of accomplishment for a valuable contribution to our community.
A few of my 1000 questions:
1 - the picture thingy... is there a way to resize it so it displays the entire picture rather than scrolling portions of it?
2 - how do I add new screens on the side rather than building one long vertical screen?
3 - when I try to assign an application to a tile, they are not in alphabetical order.... can it be changed to alphabetical like the "App Drawer" on the right hand screen?
4 - How to change the size of my time panel. When I edit it, there is no option to change the size like on other panels.
I'll give one tip:
You can set the borders between tiles to zero for a very cool look, and more room for photos/icons.
Go to Settings/Themes/Tile Paddings -> 0pixels.
(I read that in the other thread and love the results)
Can you provide me a link to this launcher??

First impressions and questions

Hi,
I have played with Themer and widgets last few hours, and it looks very nice. I have looked through the introduction videos, and they were informative, but there is always some information missing, and here is what I could not find:
How to lock widgets without right click?
When we unlock the widgets for editing, we need to lock them back. Every tutorial that I looked does this using right click on screen, but what if there is no place on screen available to right click (widget occupies to whole screen)?. I guess we could add one screen temporarily, lock the widgets, and remove the "dummy" screen, but I guess there should be some quicker method?
How to dock particular widget to appear on all screens?
I would like one widget to appear on all screens, something like a Dock on the stock Android. How to mark widget as docked (locked) on all screens?
How to preview a custom (exported) theme?
In the video tutorials it is said to put an image with the same name to thumbs folder (I noticed that it must be png also, not jpeg). However, this only shows the screenshot in the thumbnail preview of exported themes. What about when we select a particular theme, which opens a screen with Delete Apply choices? This preview is still blank screen, which means that it does not use the image from the thumbs. The same behavior is seen in the video tutorials.
How to know if there is an empty widget on screen?
For example, lets say that I have dropped a widget on the screen accidentally, and I did not place any element in it. This widget would be transparent by default. How can I see those widgets, so I can remove them?
Thanks.

Hi Goran,
So sorry for taking an incredibly long time to reply, I'm on a semi-vacation in Thailand at the moment and getting access to internet isn't easy. I'll try help as best I can.
1. Thanks for pointing this one out! The option to do this via the app drawer was removed in the last update, so I'll speak to the team about adding it in again. The only other way would be to enable the Themer notification bar, which has a Themer icon that brings up new themes. From here you can tap the back button to go into the Advanced Settings and then into Desktop.
2. This feature has been requested before, however it will take us a while to add it into Themer, as the resources required are quite vast to say the least. Hopefully in the new year we will have more time to focus on features like this. Right now the team is more focused on fixing bugs and improving the performance.
3. Another requested feature. We still want to improve the front end as much as possible before moving onto the back end. Trust me though we haven't forgotten about the designer side of Themer.
4. I've never heard of this feature before, but it sounds like a good one to have. I think because many users focus on adding widgets that instantly show information, it hasn't been as a priority. I'll speak to the team and see what they think.
I hope this has answered your questions. If you have any more just ask, I have a stable connection now and will be able to reply within the day.

Very nice theme!
I'd like to use it on my 10inch Asus Transformer, but I don't get the homescreen so crispy as you do.
Is that because of the dpi? Or the resolution?

Separate widgets?
Hello,
fantastic job, even the other system info widget on the other thread, and very accurate explanation about how to configure everything.
From my point of view I see only one problem: such widgets are perfect for landscape but practically unusable for portrait, and having a Tab S 8.4 the last one is my most used mode.
I don't know if I'm asking too much or you already have tought about... Maybe you like my idea and you'll decide to do for yourself first
1) What if you make many different widgets instead of a big one? In such way you would give maximum modularity to them. It would be possible to use in portrait too, people could change order, etc.
The same for the info widget on the other thread.
2) What if you add customization using ZWUtilities even with these widgets like Meteo, Music, News, Calendar etc.?
3) What if you make at least "blank" 4x1, 4x2, 4x4 widgets, where "blank" means pastel coloured header with 3 stripes on the left upper corner, and white or dark background below... Luckily always with ZWUtilities customization to have a coherent theme.
To be sincere, I'm already trying to extrapolate elements by the big widget you already made, simply I personally miss the time to go fast on this job, so if you like the idea and you want to extend by yourself your own work I'll be happy too
However, really congratulations again for what you already made! And sorry for my english, isn't my primary language and I hope my ideas was enough clear.
