Update Lumia already? - Nokia Lumia 800

So I have had my Lumia now for just over an hour and i then get a message saying there is an update. Has anyone else had this? I am at work so unable to connect to Zune but could this be the camera improvments and tethering or is it more lickly from T-Mobile to brand my handset? lets hope its the first

Update is global for all handsets as far as i know. Fixes some issues with syncing exchange 2003 or so...

Ok thanks nothing to get excited about then cheers for the info

Not showing for me yet...do I have to wait for Three to do stuff or should it just be available?

Mine poped up as a notification about an hour after turning on the phone. I was worried it was just tmobile messing as thereis no branding not even a splash screen. But as said above i think its a bug fix i will update when i get home (about 6ish uk time)

Yeah I asked 3 earlier and they've said the update isn't being pushed en masse to Lumia owners just yet, so you got lucky

Got my update yesterday, hope they soon will push an other update with Internet Sharing enabled. Nokia confirmed already that there will be an Internet Sharing update.

how is your Lumia 800 compare with Desire HD or S2?
I know both Desire HD and S2 are faster in battery consumption.
I own a old Nexus one and Lumia 800
But I found that lumia 's battery is weaker than Nexus one (with similar usage)
I know there is diff. between OS but it is reli out of my expectation.

ive got a sim free nokia lumia 800 and still awaiting the update, but my sister got hers from orange UK and she got the update message straight away, what gives nokia are you pushing carriers first for the update??

All WP7 updates are staggered by Microsoft so it'll come when it comes

Does anybody have the original firmware number before update? I have just updated on vodafone uk - and forgot to write it down to see if Nokia got a new firmware in the update.
cheers

I think this is original one:

mine reads the same as that other than the os version is now 7.10.7740.16 ie no nokia firmware update
My battery is still not great i am guessing it is comming in a seporate update. At least i hope so.

i am still waiting for updates...

My battery life is pretty abyssmal..
20 mins of music streaming, and 30 min of gaming, nothing in the background, 3 emails syncing at 2 hours, left me with 1 hour remaining.. 30 mins later, it went into battery saving mode!
This is about 6-7th charge

This issue is making me twitchy to say the leaset. This is not an os problem i have both a Mozart and HD7 and there battery life is really good and there battery sizes are smaller. This is something specific to this phone and needs to be sorted asap. If its a dodgy batch they need to admit it and replace the handsets if its firmware they need to get a fix out asap. Either way Nokia really has to get something official out to say what hey are doing about it. I praised this phone to every one and i love it so much but this could ruin it big time. This could be a disaster for Nokia and thus WP7.
I am going over to the Nokia forums to see if there is anything said there WE NEED ANSWERS!

finally i want to know whats new on the new 136., thanks for opening this :fingers-crossed:
I have updated and here's my thought:
1. Status bar font seems to be getting bigger by the size?
2. Superior Auto still overprocess the photo because of the noise caused by high ISO
3. Slight yellowish Hue at the start, but easily balanced with White Balance (Blue 60 and Red 20 for me)
4. Bluetooth somewhat got improved, My Keyboard still going on and off but reconnecting quite fast now.
5. Battery life is a bit improved (for now) used to be like 10% for a 30 minute screen time, to about 10% for 45 minute of screen time. (with browsing as the main activity)

HTC M9 disassembled
Just got mine. Any questions?
Hi all. So I just picked up my AT&T HTC One M9. If anyone has any questions about anything please let me know. Ill be happy to try to help.
It is currently stock S-On and bootloader locked and I am going to keep it that way for now but if there is anything you would like to know just ask.
Ok so a few things I have noticed after using it for about an hour.
1. It does not get hot.....it is actually much cooler than the laptop I am currently using.
2. I love the look and feel of the HTC keyboard but it doesn't change im to I'm.......I hate that!
3. There are a ton of available themes. They all say free, so I assume that in the future some will actually cost money.
4. It is definitely not as slick as the M8.
5. The camera hump on the back is perfectly placed to give a bit of leverage in holding it.
6. The placement of the power button sucks, I always hit the volume thinking it is the power button, even though the power button is textured.
7. LAG......NONE, ZERO, ZILCH. Smoothest phone I have EVER used.
8. There is a personalization option to keep the soft buttons hidden!!!
From where?
I'm confused if its available now online or if its just a pre order. And if it is available now I would rather pick it up in stores so I could have it faster.
Bought it from a guy that got it at the pre launch event in Los Angeles the other day.
What's the Antutu score? Does it get hot when you run the Antutu benchmark?
One for the long run: how does the battery life hold up, and in particular: what SOT are you getting out of it?
It did get a little warmer while running the benchmark. But no where near enough to be uncomfortable.
Not sure if the OP got the unlocked version, but does it support AT&T LTE?
No sorry mine is the AT&T version so no way to test that. I would assume so though.
ohhhh its amazing i will try it.
A reviewer complained about the device getting hot while watching videos. Can you confirm?
Also I thought the software was detecting benchmark apps and putting the chip at 100% when running them. All other times the chip is throttled. Do you think that is the case?
I can't decide on the M9 or the S6 that are branded by ATT as I'm just going to renew my contract for 2 years. I think with the M9 on ATT you will be able to root, unlock the bootloader, etc. An ATT S6 won't be able to do any of that from the past ATT Galaxys. Does that seem about right?

I can't tell if it is detecting benchmarks but the phone is lightning fast all the time. I did run the GPS yesterday for about an hour straight with the screen on and the phone definitely got hot. Not to hot to hold but enough to tell it was hot.
I will say after a couple of days use the battery seems pretty bad. I can't tell screen on time because I can't find it in the settings, but it will not come close to a full day on a single charge with heavy use. Probably close to 6-7 hours of heavy usage in my opinion.

Extremely mediocre battery life?

Hey everyone,
The battery life on my S9+ seems extremely mediocre. After not even 2 hours of SOT I am left with less then 25% battery. Also, Google seems to be using the most battery.

Is this a recognizable and fixable problem or should I send it back?
Thanks for your help!
That could be due to not-so-optimized software.
My device is still stuck on the January update, so I'd guess that there will be an update soon.
Future updates might very well fix / improve the SoT, so it's basically down to: do you want to wait for updates or are you willing to use custom roms down the line?
If you answered "no" to both, then feel free to return it and get a different device.

You can pretty much be confident it'll be a software issue and nothing to do with hardware. There will be fixes and optimizations coming. Naturally the battery burns down a lot faster in the first few days.

I'm now on 2 percent after 2 hours and 10 minutes SOT. Surely this must be more than unoptimized software? My S8+ lasted way longer and software wise it seems the same.
For me it's decent, this is my first charge (s9+ duos)

That's not normal at all. Do you use the Google app regularly? Perhaps for voice searches or something like that?
I'ts not supposed to drain anywhere near that much.
The March security patch OTA was released for some countries today, check for an update, and after installing it, I'd recommend a factory reset and then start from scratch.

I don’t use the Google App at all I think. I do have Google Assisant and “OK Google” on, but surely that cannot be the cause? I haven’t used it once today.
I’m letting it charge back to 100% after which I will see if there’s an update. If it’s the same thing tommorow, i should probably return it, right?

No, don't return it just yet. This isn't a hardware problem.
Check if there's an update for the Google app, if not, here is the latest stable APK for it:
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/googl...le-app-7-22-24-21-arm64-android-apk-download/
Once you install this. Clear cache and data for the app, reboot your phone. Charge it fully to 100% and then go about your day and see if the battery life changes.
If it doesn't, give it one last shot by doing a factory reset (and/or updating to the March patch), and then observing battery drain.
If all that fails, then yeah sure, return it.
You have some weird thing going on
As you can see the battery is great it might be that its downloading all of your email attachments you should disable downloading email attachments via wifi on your gmail account. Reset phone and dont install it see how it goes first

I installed the latest Google app using the link you provided and cleared the cache and data. There weren't any software updates available yet, however.
I do have a suspicion. Normally I always set my phone up from scratch but this time I used Samsung Smart Switch to quickly move things over from my S8+. I've got a feeling that this may be the cause but I'm not sure. I'll see how it goes first before I reset my phone.

It can take at least several charge/discharge cycles for the metrics related to discharge levels to home in an a reasonably accurate curve, and this also depends on your particular app usage pattern. For now, as the HGTTU says: "Don't Panic!"

Took me a while but you have to pinch the screen to zoom in further for 5x and 10x zoom.
There used to be a 5x button which I found really useful. One if the selling points was the 5x hybrid zoom and Now it looks like they have replaced it with digital zoom. Maybe all the bad things they are saying about huwaei are true.
Yeah. This is strange. This makes me think that there was never anything special about the 5x zoom to begin with. It doesn't seem to AI stabilise like the 5x did either.
How? using Hisuite . i am not able to do it1

You still have the 5x as one of the options in the camera app then? That's strange as mine has disappeared. Camera quality has taken a hot aswell

Depends on how you define options.
It's not one of the pre selects but it is available by pinch & zoom/using the slider bar.
Was it a pre select option before?
Can't say I'm particularly bothered if it has and that it isn't now

Fix battery drain mobile standby

A troublesome bug that causes the drain (discharge at high speed of the battery) of the MI8 is caused by the voice Mobile standby, in fact if you go in the battery settings, you will notice a high% of consumption of the item in question.
This is caused because, by default in the Xiaomi rom (China or global) is also the search for frequencies also Chinese, this involves an intensive use of the network module that continues in a way to find these Chinese frequencies, which of course in our country , just as all EU countries do not exist, leading to greater use of autonomy.
Xiaomi is already aware of the problem and will certainly be resolved, when it is not known.
In the meantime, you can solve the problem by yourself, as follows:
Enter the following USSD code *#*#4636#*#* in the dialer.
Set the LTE / WCDMA mode to both SIMs
In this way, only the European frequencies will be used, eliminating the battery drain.
You're welcome btw

It's also a pretty old bug, somebody else had the same idea 4 months ago:

When you reboot the phone it returns to the old settings!
Done, let's see now.
Thanks for the info

On miui perfhaps yes.
I'm on Syberia and it stayed like that.
Well, not a big hassle, I mean I reboot my phone once a week.

Come on.. this is not s solution. We have spent a considerable amount of money to buy this beautiful phone. But Xiaomi releases updates with no sufficient testing prior launch and this is actually annoying.

I agree with you, I really do.
But even if you searched about the device you want to buy even for months before getting it you'll see there is absolutely no device existing without at least 2-3 issues out there.
Even pixels which are what android is and more than that, have problems.
You either bear with it, or stop using smartphones.
And the second option is not a viable choice for me.
P. S. Got a poco before the Mi 8 and refunded it because of the touch lag, I know that Xiaomi doesn't test enough, be it software or hardware.

I really respect what you say and most likely you are right but what now? You see I am using the phone professionally and battery is crucial for me.
Thanks for the advice. There is battery drain with V10.1.2.0. Cell standby. BTW, you can reach the menu by repeatedly tapping on "Internal Storage" in the "My device" settings. There are some "secret" links in settings.

If this bothers you that much then either flash a custom rom on it, or refund/sell the device and get something else, maybe an OP6T.
I ran a little test today to find out if other devices handle it better and it does appear to be so. Mido battery drain with LTE/WCDMA and LTE/TD-SCDMA/UMTS was exactly the same.

But the cell signal history wasn't...
Redmi Note 4X, Xiaomi.eu 9.5, 70km Highway drive with Waze and internet music stream running, fixed display brightness. Same route in both tests, just opposite directions - hence me flipping 2nd signal history in the following screenshot:
I ran a similiar test on my MI 8 a week ago and there were massive differences in battery drain and signal history...like I said I think MI 8 has a baseband issue that somehow can get amplified by the MIUI default network mode setting.
well i seen someone said that global beta 8.12.20 it is way better.anyone tried it around here?i was thinking of trying it myself actually...i think i'll do and came back with some feedback.
idk I've been on global beta since 10.0.3.0 global stable release and I've had all of these issues. It's possible that android 9 adaptive battery feature in beta 8.12.20 helps a bit.
Make sure non interactive scenes are disabled in settings \ battery \ scenes
I have the same problem, my drain was 40% in 8 h in standby mode. I flash my phone to miui 9 and then i update to miui 10 - 10.3.3 global, then i clean al my programs and i don't update sistem apps from Xiaomi. At last i turn off my phone and i charge up to 100%. Now my drain battery per night is 5-6% and last almost 2 days?. Good luck!
