Deals on the Titan on at&t this Sunday? - HTC Titan

Anyone hear of any good deals on the HTC Titan releasing on AT&T this Sunday? I know it'll be $200 straight from AT&T on a new/upgrade line. Anyone hear anything else from other retailers?
Or even, what is the unactivated price of the phone? Haven't seen AT&T speak a word about it being bought outright.

no **** if they can register online for a new windows phone for $0.01 and i am thinking that Titan would be the same.
Or will be and Bogo (Buy one get one) like other rumor before.
So sad that i am not american, or having SSN to register online.
Would love to trade in my UK Titan for AT&T Titan since i need U.S Agent on the phone, not UK.

Finally listed on the AT&T site: http://www.wireless.att.com/cell-ph...+TITAN+(TM)&q_sku=sku5400337#fbid=VqHNNV47IAn
$199.99 on a 2 year commitment
$549.99 without a commitment

Oh yeah. Are you gonna get it my friend? I need some review of At&t version just in case some **** change inside the phone compare to the UK vesion

Course I'm gonna get it. I just want to find a place with the best price today. XD

Went to my local AT&T store today and they did not get any Titans in yet.
What a disappointment!

Same here. I've called every store in a 75 mile radius, and none of them have it in stock. My local store says they don't even have an estimate of when they will get any.
So frustrating for ATT to post that it will arrive on the 20th, but then they don't have ANY available to get your hands on.
I even went online to upgrade my line on the ATT site, but when I click that I want to upgrade, it gives me the iPhone ONLY! No options for any other phone. Hmmm Starting to sound like Bill upset ATT at some point...
I just called 611 and asked them where I could get it. She put me on hold and called all the same stores I did and got back on the line and let me know she was unable to find any either.
Also, my local ATT Rep that I deal with told me that ATT took his Company Owned WP7 from him and replaced it with an LTE Android phone. He said he asked to keep his WP7, but they will not allow him to because they are pushing their LTE network. He's pretty frustrated...

I'll cross-post this from my original WPCentral post.
I had to try two stores but the 2nd one actually had the Titan on display, in the place of the Focus. It was next to the Focus S, which was convenient.
Impressions:
Love it. I want one, definitely. Build quality is fantastic, feels great on the hand, not too large at all.
I compared the screen to the Focus S and I prefer the Titan. The white point is better and it doesn't turn blue when you view at an angle. The contrast is also very good, though obviously the blacks on AMOLED are nill, and LCD can't compete with that. But blacks are not the only screen characteristic, and combining them all, I prefer the Titan's. On full brightness, I think both were equivalent.
I prefer the Titan's button layout. Not going to do many accidental button presses when handling, unlike the Focus S.
The one thing I prefer about the Focus S is the oleophobic screen coating. I tend to have moist hands, and my finger glides with less effort on the Focus S, whereas on the Titan it's more like sliding down a regular piece of glass. I will get used to it, but I thought I'd mention it.
Oh, the Focus S was plugged in and it DEFINITELY has a typing lag. The Titan was not plugged in, and everything was fluid and snappy, including typing.
I had a conversation about the $0.01 sale and they caught onto some language on the AT&T site that says:
Exclusively at att.com - starting Friday, November 25 through Monday, November 28, customers can enjoy select Windows 7, BlackBerry and Android devices starting at only a penny.

But below, under Saturday, it clearly says "All WP7 devices."
They sent an e-mail to a manager to see if they could do anything about that deal for me, as well as waive activation on the two lines. If not, I'll just wait until Saturday and order online without the hassles and arguing.
On a side note, they also said the employee discount does NOT apply to the $30 messaging unlimited service item, only to the base plan and data package. This is a bummer, if true. I'll try arguing with Premier over the phone after I get all set up, either this week or next Saturday.

Hell, I can't even find a store that 1. Knows what phone I'm talking about. And then 2, has the Titan in. I went to two separate stores and the first girl didn't know what phone I was talking about and said, I don't think we have a phone called that. You may be referring to the "Vivid"? Another associate walked by and she asked her. She said she saw the display in the back, but the phone hadn't come in. Try back tomorrow around noon. Second store, the lady at first didn't know about the Titan, then after I jogged her memory, she said oh yeah, we have the display out, but no phones. She proceeded to ask her manager about it and he said, they pushed their ship date back and it may be a few days. WTF!

I tried almost 10 different stores in the Kansas City Missouri/Kansas area and all of them either did not have any, didn't get it in yet, or sold what little they had. One store had a demo, another store said they sold 2 this morning but that was all they had.
Most of the stores told me that they were expecting them tomorrow. So I guess I'm making another trip out tomorrow...

So, what happened? The iPhone was EVERYWHERE! Ready to sell at midnight +1 second. Why is this phone so hard to get ahold of? Did HTC Fail on shipment? Did ATT Fail on ordering? What the heck? And WHY did ATT announce it's Nov 20th availability, when they knew they would not have it?
Hey, I'm a big boy, so I'll survive, but it is a bit silly...
It's frustrating that iPhone is treated like a princess, even though many people really don't prefer it. My thought is that Apple is kicking back a LOT of money to ATT to make it so.

If you have a Microsoft retail store in your area, most likely they are in stock.

oh yeah? so look like all americans can buy titan pretty cheap.
i might look for somebody here to trade in the UK version for US version if there aren't any downgrade in the hardware. Ha!
Maybe, because i just can't stand the British accent.
Hit me up when you have them, i want to hear the review from you guys.

AT&T Titan
Just picked up my Titan from the AT&T store yesterday after church. The guy said it was the last one. I asked how many did you get? He said only one. I'm like WHAT! What's up with that man?! So he says they don't get many of the new phones when they're first released. So I asked how about the new android phone. They got 6 of those in. So I said dude, why is AT&T hatin on WP7. LoL
Anyway, it was only $99 in the store yesterday. $199 if you purchased online. Don't know if the price is the same today or not but that was my experience.
So far so good. I logged in to my windows live account online, went to market place and reinstalled all of my app's that I previously had on my HTC Surround. The apps were practically installing as fast as I could go through my list and choose them. When I clicked on the last one to install and checked my phone out it was already done. I had my phone connected to my wifi at the time. The flash is super bright, and the battery life has been good. Had full battery still when I woke up this morning. Didn't leave it charging. Then I took the Navigon GPS software for a test run on the way to work this morning. Battery is holding pretty well after a 30 minute drive using GPS. Looks like it may have dropped maybe 10%. I'll report again this evening after a full days use.

I'm planning on ordering this online Friday for a penny.. I was going to wait for the 3rd gen phones but for a penny I cannot resist!!!

$99 in store? What!? Is that special pricing or something or did it actually say that on the price tag in the store?
I totally didn't look at the price tag of the demo phone, I was too busy looking at the phone. I should double check today!

I also picked one up, but not for $99 ($199). I'd like to know if they messed that up too, or if you just got lucky.
My daughter invited us to dinner last night about 50 miles away from my house, so I made calls to stores close to her. The closest one was 25 miles past her house and they only had 1 left out of 4. The held it for me, and now I am the proud owner of a new Titan. So far, I really love it. I have not had a chance to play much, but I'm sure I'll be posting more as I get into it more.
I'm REALLY glad to hear about the battery being pretty good a couple posts up. My Focus was dying pretty quickly, so I hope this helps.
Congrats to all the other new owners!
PS: I did get a chance to try Tango Video Chat with my Wife's iPhone 4s, and I have to say, the video quality in & out is 200% better on the Titan than it was on my Focus.

i think i will go to Radioshack or AT&T store today and check if they have them because i see none last night at bestbuy.
Well, welcome aboard the Titan Owner Club guys, prjkthack just need to buy it,my friend. haha.
can you guys check if the AT&T version do the turn-by-turn navigation with bing map?

I'm sure as long as its in the US with a US Live ID, that turn-by-turn will work with Bing. I don't think its a phone/hardware thing, more of a location of the phone/regional setting/Live ID thing.
Also, Radio Shack doesn't have any in-store. They do online. They generally don't carry a lot of Windows Phone devices (almost none to be exact).
Update: Gave in and just ordered it directly online from at&t. Which I guess I won't have to deal with store employees but at the same time, just means I gotta wait another day or two. Hopefully it ships out today.

Bell Atrix 2.3 Gingerbread

I was just wondering, is the 2.3 update Motorola dependent or carrier dependent?
The Atrix isn't selling too well here in Canada and if it's bell who has the final say on the update... I think ill just return my Atrix
who told you the atrix isnt selling well in canada?
(just asking because afaik its selling quite well for a high end phone.)

Maybe he assumes since they cut the price by $100 (on contract) in the first week it is because of slow sales.
NOTE: checking their website again it looks like its back up to $169. I wonder what was with the temp price drop. Oh well, saved me $100.

well $69 dollars for three years. THREE YEARS sometimes phones in America go for that price but for 2 years. I think it is overpriced at $169 for 3 years.
Uh.. I've been to 5 different stores recently in Toronto and they either have only sold one or none. This phone is obviously not selling well, who's been telling you it has been?
Honestly like, I've never seen a high end phone go on sale a week after launch. Somethings not right.

I think the reason they dropped the price was because the day it came out, they dropped all the other smartphones to $0 except for the iPhone 4. Now if you're a customer coming into a Bell store not knowing much about the Atrix, those other phones are impossible to pass up "Hmm, $0 or $169. Wow that HD7 has a huge screen and it's $0. I'll take that one!". Bad marketing by Bell, nothing more

maybe bell is trying to get people to to sign a 3 year contract, its called marketing, contracts are worth much more than the $100 they are discounting. do you know how many stores in toronto is selling the atrix? theres no way to guess how many are sold based on visiting 5 stores and asking the employee...have you considered they were not telling you the truth, ive been to a few bell stores where their employees are apple fanboys that were trying to only push the iphone to customers.

5 stores that I randomly choose that has terrible sales? That's a pretty slim chance.
Anyways, thats not important. I went to return it today and apparently bell won't let me because I've exceeded 50mb of data usage. Even the Futureshop salesman was shocked to find out about this. They told me to go back tomorrow morning to speak with a full time salesman and figure things out there...
I hope I can return this phone and cancel this contract...
When I got my Atrix in the period of time I was in the store 3 other people came in and bought it as well so I wouldn't call that bad sales. Plus I know 4 other people that are going to pick one up.
As for the contract, under Canadian law you have 14 days to suffer from buyers remorse and get out of any contract. For your phone, when I signed up for it I was told I had 14 days or 30 minutes of talk time to return it and nothing about data use, so I wish you the best of luck for that part.
I'm in vancouver and as I was buying mine, this 60+ year old lady comes in and buys one... I was blown away... I asked her if this was her first android device and she said she owned a magic before. I was impressed.

I think it depends more on Motorola, the carrier just pushes it to you when its done.
The Guy at the corner store has sold 30 Bell atrix, 12 iPhones & 2 chocolate doughnuts this month. The iPhone is clearly starting to fail.

You're exaggerating now, because you were initially wrong.
In any event, even if you're correct (which you're not, I know direct and indirect dealers in your market), you're only talking about 1 market which you're wrong about anyway.
And yes, updates are released by carriers and are subject to their approval/branding/pollution. This matter changes if the phone's bootloader becomes cracked and capable of loading different ROMs however.

I can find this phone in stock anywhere in Downtown Toronto in any types of Store(Bell, FutureShop, Bestbuy, Source or whatever)
Man, Bell representatives are so clueless sometimes. There are no restrictions on data usage for smartphones but the first 2 bell ppl kept insisting there was a 50mb limit. I just wasted the whole day trying to get this sorted out. Finally the third person agreed with me and said that the previous 2 thought the Atrix was a tablet. WTF??
Anyways, phone's returned and everything, I feel so relieved now. I had to think real hard about this phone. Then I realized, if I had to think this hard then obviously I wasn't satisfied with it.
That was my first smartphone and I was not impressed with android. Maybe I just expected too much. I did love the fact that I can download mp3's for free and watch flash videos, but there was a key piece missing which was crucial to me. The overall user interface was not fluid like the Iphones are. I would hit the home button and it would sometimes work. Then when I tap it again, the phone would register everything in the queue 2 seconds later. I know some people are ok with this, I am not. I got a high end phone and I expect the same as I do with a high end PC, not lag on current generation software.
When Android irons out these issues out then maybe I'll consider using android again. I think fragmentation really hinders android just like it did for PCs (still does to a degree?).
Sorry for the rant, Futureshop/Bell really pissed me off today.

idk man, when I went to returned mine. The same number of boxes of Atrix was still sitting behind the counter. I don't see how this phone would appeal to the average consumer who could care less about the specs.

Photon for free from Sprint

I walked into a Sprint store at lunch today. I was just looking at the Photon and mentioned that BB had it for $99 plus trade in money for my Evo. They countered with $125 for my Evo so it would be $75 for the Photon. I said it is still cheaper at BB. So then they said even up trade plus a case for my Evo. So, I walked out of the store with a Photon and a case for no money. I didnt even bring my wallet with me. That was awesome! Just wanted to let everyone know that you still can get the Photon from a corporate store for gratis.

I tried to get a corporate Sprint store to match the Bestbuy $99 deal. I also said I would buy a HD dock and Car Dock if the matched the Bestbuy price on the Photon.
The sales rep said they couldn't do it. I even brought a printout showing it was available just 3 miles down the road at Bestbuy for $99.
I asked to see a manager. He went and got the assistant manager and I asked him for the same deal as above. He also said he couldn't do it. I expalined that I am a Gold Premier Sprint customer with 5 lines on a business account. I've also been with Sprint over 12 years.
He said that it didn't matter. He couldn't do it.
I was amazed that a corporate Sprint store couldn't match a 3rd party retailer even after I said I would also buy an additional $130 worth of accessories.
I'm very disappointed. I ordered it from Bestbuy and I'm suppose to pick it up in the morning.
People do not understand the difference between buying a phone from a corporate store and a third party store. The difference from buying a phone in an actual corporate store is the customer service that they get. Im a manager at a sprint store, its true that it might cost you more from buying it from us but you will definitely get your moneys worth. The customer service and the experience is pretty much what you are paying for... when you buy something at best buy or radio shack, you are just like buying from a retail store (luckys, walgreens, etc) when you buy something the cashiers just ring you out, just like at best buy, they just ring out the phone and give it to you, heres your phone have fun with it.. if you buy it from an actual store you're like buying it from like a bmw car dealer. You will be helped and get assisted by a consultant, we are the experts on these phones, we get trained hours of hours, we know the phones inside and out. Before you leave we make sure your emails are set up, we teach you how to make a call, send a txt msg, etc... we make sure before you leave you are an expert and you are using your phone to its full potential, we make sure you are getting your moneys worth. I have a customer who bought an evo 4g from radio shack, its been 3 months, she came to me and asked why her phone always dies so quick, 3 hours after she unplugs it, its already dead.. i ask where she got it and she said she got it at radio shack because it was free,i looked at her phone and her bluetooth is on, wifi is on, 4g is on..she didnt even know what the toggle widgets are for...worst part she ddnt even know about the android market...i helped her out and explained to her everything and all the cool features she can get, the end of the day, she was very happy and told me next time she gets a phone she will get it from me, she might pay a lil more but she will know how to use her phone fully so its worth the money
I'm not saying do not buy phones from best buys or radio shack, there are always pros and cons, for people like us here who already knows mostly everything about androids we might want to buy it there because were just searching for a better price...but for majority of people out there who doesnt know anything about these devices, its definetly worth buying it from a corporate store, they will get the customer service and the knowledge they will need to use these new devices. Its worth the extra money. Hope yall fellas understand why it cost more in a corporate, its the experience and the customer service that you are paying for

You've clearly never been to the Sprint store in Jackson, MS!! They didn't know their ass from a hole in the ground. I had to educate four of the employees on their phone selection. What the differences were in the Photon and the Evo (aside from looks) and had to explain what rooting and unlocked bootloaders were. They seemed disinterested in helping anyone...even though I bought a total of 400$ worth of equipment from them, they acted like they could care less. I also had an appointment and waited about an hour to be serviced, meanwhile they serviced every walk-in that came in after me. My experience with Sprint "service" has been weak at best. I'd fully recommend going third party store....better deals, better treatment (at least at my local BB), and overall the only way I'm ever going to get my equipment anymore.
SO here's a NOOB question for you guys. I have a sprint store with repair center near by that's actually owned by Imobile or something like that. Since this is owned by another company I'm assuming that this is NOT an actual corp store correct? I'm hoping I can get them to price match.
Also yeah... I don't shop anywhere for the customer service, because there is no such thing anymore unless you're buying a BMW or something along those lines, if I want to be informed about what I'm buying, I research it myself. It's all about scoring the best price.

Really, is that why I have to tell the Photon designated "expert" at my local store the features of this phone? The guy is nice as can be and I always go back to buy phones from him, but not because he knows the phones so well. I went in after 3 days of owning my Photon to buy a screen protector and I knew more about the features on the phone than he did. He doesn't even own the phone and the store made him the Photon Specialist.

Wrong again. The store set up email on my Evo 4G on launch day and haven't set up a phone since. I have bought another EVO 4G, Epic 4G, 2 Evo 3Ds and the Photon during that time and was never asked to set up my email.
Nice try though.

On his defense, they are supposed to do that. Sadly like in all jobs you have lazy employees. For instance, at Best Buy, we are also supposed to set up everything and demo an app or a feature for you (unlike what he said) and good stores do it very well (like mine) yet stores poorly run probably don't.
Even still all it takes is one bad experience and all stores and employees are casted as idiots.. For the most part, it SHOULD be a walk out working experience IF the employee cares about his work.

I always buy my phones from the same corporate store. I had pro lens with my moment and 3 months after I bought it the manager switched me out for a EVO. The EVO was great, bought the new EVO 3d and 3 weeks out of my 30 days the same store switched me into a photon after a ton of problems with my 3d. First day I had the photon it started rebooting like crazy, the same store gave me another photon. I think if I had all these problems at best buy they would tell me to pack sand. Best buy wouldn't even repair a camera for me that bought the insurance on and was clearly broken.
Bottom line, sprint corporate store did everything they could to make sure I had a properly working phone and im a happy camper.

Yes its true im not going to deny, some employees are jusy lazy and dont want to do their job right...but like what i said, guys like us here in xda would more likely buy it at a third party because were looking for the best price, we dnt need the customer service because we already know the phone. Sadly We know so much about the phone we make the employees look like idiots when we ask questions like rooting and all those stuff. Employees are only trained to certain extent, enough to answer basic questions for customers. In conclusion, guys like us here would benefit more from buying it in a third party store, but new comers and noobs like parents who is just about to start with a smartphone would benefit more from buying from a corporate because employees there are more educated with their product compare to those guys at best buy or radio shack.

We are Corporate-Corporate members. 9 lines, ALL OF WHICH ARE CURRENTLY UP FOR RENEWAL.
Ordered Photon through my Dedicated Care Rep and received it in the middle of last week. I see over the weekend that Best Buy is offering them at $99. I call my rep back and ask her about a price match. She said she could not do that. BB was also offering the screen protector with the phones. Even paying a restock fee, which I was willing to do at the time since it was my choice, I thought it would be in my best interest to return the one I had. She said I could just return the one I had to a corporate store and buy the one from BB.
I go to corporate store on Tuesday morning of this week.(~12 miles away) They do the return and charge me $35. I call BB to make sure they have one in stock and the sales rep says to check back with her during the day to see when my upgrade resets. She informs me over the phone about 4 hours later that it has reset and I head to BB.(~10 miles)
I get there and she has left for the day. The sales rep I deal with tells me that my upgrade has in fact NOT reset. He gets Sprint on the phone and 20 minutes later the reset is in. He hangs up and starts the sale.
Couple minutes later, he tells me the system won't let him sell me the phone. Again, he calls Sprint. 25 minutes later I'm told that I am outta luck and that BB can not sell phones to corporate corporate members. Noooo. That's not information that would have been useful earlier, WHEN THE OTHER REP WAS LOOKING AT MY ACCOUNT.
I go home PISSED. Email my Dedicated Care rep. She is out of town and I am given a different rep to deal with. I call her Tuesday afternoon. She tells me she doesn't know why BB told me that, they should be able to sell me the phone. She asks me if I want her to send me another. I ask her to credit my account the $35 restock fee for the run around I was getting. She asks to call me back, to get approval. She calls back and says that she can credit the acct. I ask her if I could just go to a Sprint store and re-purchase the phone at the original $199 price I paid and put this whole issue to rest.(to keep me from having to wait until the next week for the phone to arrive) She says that would be fine and apologized for my troubles.
I get to Sprint store Tuesday evening and they tell me they can not sell me a phone but they could order it over the phone for me! I call Dedicated Care from right there in the Sprint store and get a different (my 3rd) Dedicated Care rep. She tells me that I should never have been told to return my original Photon to a store (not even a Corporate store), that I should never have been told that I could purchase a device from anyone other than my rep, unless I let a store order it but why in the hell would I drive to a store to have them order a phone from someone that is in my current phone's contact list?
Again, I am asked if I would like her to mail me another. I tell her to take the nearest phone to her, turn it sideways and....well, I wanted to say that.
I tell her to forget it and just make sure my account is reset, both upgrade and contract obligations, and I will just hold off and weigh my options at this time.
I'm mean...holy cow! 3 Dedicated Care reps, 2 Best Buy sales reps and 2 Sprint reps on the phone at BB. Does information not get pushed down to the folks that are actually moving phones?
I will prbly end back up with the Photon. I really did like the phone but I didn't want to give them a sale at the time and am holding out hope that my personal Ded. Care rep realizes that my business has ZERO contractual obligations with them at this time and will offer me something to make up for it.
/rant. Sorry for length. It was very therapeutic though.

Being a corporate sprint store doesn't make them miracle workers, it's actually quite the opposite. Said stores are direct representatives of the corporate offices, which requires them to follow regulations to a T. These employees have little to no flexibility in their ability to bend the rules for customers, and if they were they are a thousand times quicker to get fired than someone at, for example, Best Buy. They are bound to making you do mail-in rebates, pay sticker price and whatever else the corporate offices feel like narcing on at that moment. Quite frankly, if I were lucky enough to work at corporate I would be doing the same thing they are so I dont jeopardize my very well paying job.

I work at a corporate store and i must say its nice to see someone that gets it. Believe me if i could change the price of the phone i would. I get paid on phones so why in the hell would i turn away a sale if i had the means to keep it.
Well, the OP said it was a corporate store that gave him the deal. I've read of other people that said corporate stores discounting phones but know you guys say it can't be done or if it is the sales person could loose there job.
Sprint is willing to loose a sale to bestbuy (Sprint has to give Bestbuy the contract renewal bonus) but can't take care of a LONG time customer.
I've pretty much got to be one of there best types of customers.
1) Been with Sprint/Nextel about 12 years.
2) 5 lines all with unlimited data yet I average only about 1.1gb of data a month combined between all 5 unlimited data lines.
3) All 5 of my lines use less than 400 anytime minutes a month and usually less than 1200 total minutes combined a month.
4) I've never returned a phone for any reason (I see some peopel have indicated that they have had multiple bad phones and I wonder how many of them are full of crap) I've never returned anything, thus not costing Sprint.
5) I've never asked for nor received a "credit" of any sort by complaining about service/coverage/droped calls etc...
6) I've had insurance on every personal phone of mine (1 of the 5 phones) that I've had for the last 10 years or so. Yet I've never made a claim, ever!
I don't need customer service. I need a phone at a decent price, I would of thought Sprint could of done that for me. I guess not.
BTW: I did get my Photon today from Bestbuy. What pleasent experiance. I ordered it online last night for instore pickup today. I got my email this morning saying it was ready. I walked into Bestbuy and 10-15 min. later I walked out with my new phone. No mumbo jumbo trying to "set up" my phone for me. I just wanted a new phone and that is what I got.

I manage a Best Buy Mobile store and while I'm not going to say you don't provide great customer service in your store, it's inaccurate to state that Best Buy Mobile doesn't provide quality service as well. We perform all the services you stated, for free, in addition to having better prices and impartial service in a non-commission sales environment. Not all consultants or stores are created equally, and I'm sure there are good/bad Best Buy Mobile's just as there are good/bad carrier stores, but to say that you're the only store that provides quality service and goes above and beyond for customers is wrong.

Like I said, not all stores or employees are equal. But I see it every single day. A company does have to keep an eye on it's bottom line in order to stick around, and sometimes the requests of our customers are so far beyond profitable that we couldn't stay in business if we met them, but in my experience the average day to day experience for customers in my store is very positive.
I have been around long enough to see some douchy things but they are definitely not the norm.

i bought a lot of stuff from best buy at one point all around the same time. it was a wide range of things from computer hardware, camera, Sirius satellite stuff etc. i bought the extended warranty on everything. the items that did end up needing to be repaired were denied. i called corporate, the warranty company everything, i was told to go pack sand.
i should have known what a total POS company best buy was when i bought my camera and when i got home and tried to use it it wouldn't turn on. i took it back and they didn't have the same model, you wouldn't believe how much trouble i had to go through to get a replacement camera. i mean the camera was literally about an hour old.
i never had any request that were unreal, i just wanted my stuff working and i paid for the warranty on all of it, and even the one hour old camera was a pain to get resolved. with sprint i bring a phone back months later and they do their best to make sure that i get a properly working product. i pay for the extra warranty and i have used it once to get a speaker replaced on my evo and no questions were asked the phone was fixed in less than an hour, even with my phone rooted with CM7 on it.
a little extra: my friend just bought a evo at best buy for $1. they talked her into some sort of best buy tracking software (or what ever the hell the program is) that cost her $40, and then a screen protector that is a pile of crap vinyl distorted looking thing and a really, really really cheap silicone case for i think she said another $40. the person at the store didn't help her try to understand her phone at all. the next day she went back to try to get help setting up her e-mail and best buy told her to call sprint for help or go to their store and have them show her how to do it.

If your warranty claims were denied they were probably caused by something that is explicitly not covered by the warranty. (Accidental damage, water damage). Two versions of most plans are offered, one covers accidental, one doesn't. The camera you purchased sounds like it was the last one in stock. Even big box retailers have a limited quantity of product they keep in the store and have to be replenished. We don't charge $40 for tracking software. The phone locating and remote lock software is included with the optional accidental damage warranty on phones, the other $30 is to allow her to sell back the phone for up to $300. We don't carry $40 silicone cases, silicone cases are $20. The screen protector is fine, Zagg brand, it just looks like crap if you don't install it right, which she probably chose to not have us do because we guarantee the install and she could have it reinstalled if she isn't satisfied.
Email they should have offered to set up and should not have turned her away. I'd suggest having your friend mention it to their manager so they can correct the behavior.

I concur.... I hate seeing people walk because BB or RS offer the exact same phone for a fraction of the price that we do. I wish we had the capabilities of price matching. People have a very bad misconception of the power that we as corporate stores have.
It's actually pretty sad because shortly after, they normally walk in the store stating "BB or RS or Sam's or insert random store here told me to come here to get my contacts transferred over" and like the corporate tool that I am I must oblige even though you didn't bother to buy the phone from me at all. Then as soon as I try to upsell on the opportunities that were stolen from me, I'm told "Oh well RS or BB has that cheaper"...

Best Buy, what a joke

I have a Dell Streak...even though it is running 2.2.2, I LOVE it.
I wanted to take a look at the SGS2 just to see if it was as good in person, as
it has been in the press.
Stopped by a blue shirt store (Best Buy), strolled around looking for it. Couldn't find it. Finally a drone asked me if I was looking for anything. Said, yes, but you don't have it. Told her and she said, "oh, we have them, we just didn't bother putting them out". LOL No display for the device, nothing. I said do you even have a non working one. Oh, I guess I have one behind the counter, but with the new iphone coming out....I just turned and walked away.
Best Buy has become such a joke. About all it is good for, is going into the
store to actually HOLD something in your hand, then buying it from Ebay or
Amazon for LESS.
Stopped by a corporate death star store and saw a FUNCTIONING one. Wow! Fast, smooth, BRIGHT. If it wasn't for the smaller 4.3" screen vs the 5" screen I have on the streak, I would have gotten one right then. If the Note comes to the shores before 2012, I'll get one, or just bite the bullet and get the SGS2.
Kind of hard going back to a smaller screen when you get use to a 5 incher.
Yeah Best Buy has gotten bad. I went to make a simple exchange of Infuse for Galaxy S II and left those crappy headphones home by mistake and she wouldn't let me exchange. There was another Best Buy on the way home, stopped in there and the guy didn't even ask about the headphones. They were sold out at 12:15 though so I had to get a return and go to AT&T to get the phone.
The pricing in there is ridiculous. They are butt raping people, 40 dollars for a 6 ft HDMI cord? Get out of here.

Boy you got that right!
Sometimes when I need a hard drive or something RIGHT NOW to fix a down piece of gear, I'll stop there to get it. Hearing the "lies" they tell people sometimes just makes me want to yell RUN! QUICK! Before you get ripped off!
My local Best Buy store got 2 in stock today for AT&T. 2?! Luckily, my regular AT&T store had plenty so I got one there. Slightly harder still was finding a screen protector. After 9 months out of contract I'm back, but it's all good.
You guys must be going to some shady best buys. The one i go to they know me by name and always know what im in for before i even ask for what i want. They also price matched AT&T for me this morning and gave me 10% off for my whole purchase because im a rewards member. Me and Best Buy are friends. lol

Both best buys near me got two each, and one of them is always being slammed by tour busses. I don't know why so many best buys are only getting 2 GS2s each but thankfully I got one of those two so I'm happy.

We got only small quantity of gs2 cause of at&t. We were told that they wanted them because of the extra add on packages and accessories. We are considered second to corporate att . That's what the BB guy told me. He said he could get me one from another store, which I assumed was another BB. I asked him when would they get another shipment, and he said Thursday's is when the truck came in. I said thanks, then drove over to AT&T.
Best Buy can be a PAIN, I will readily admit that. However it can really depend on the service. I tend to get really good service at my local Best Buy. And since we recently bought a new home and upgraded out TV, fridge and washer Dryer, I had a BUNCH of reward zone points. So I pre ordered my GS II at BB. when I got there they where great, they returned my $50.00 pre order to my card. Price matched the "rumored" $148.88 Wal-Mart price, and did it all pretty dran quick too. My total OOP for the phone was $1.88. So while I can agree that in many cases BB isn't the best, currently I am a fan.
I have not had an issue with Best Buy. I had gotten my Nexus S there, now my SGS II and everything went smoothly. They even price matched WalMart for me.

Terrible Experience Pre-Ordering Note at Best Buy!

When i found out Best buy was taking pre orders for the Note and offering a free case i went down and tried to pre order. I was buying the phone outright for retail as im not elgible to upgrade. When i got there i found the phone was selling for $749.99; $100.00 more than at&t, however ive had no problem with getting them to price match before hand. So i asked the employee if they would and he confirmed with the manager however he said i would not be able to pre order due to the price match descrepency and that i would have to come in on launch day to get one and i would still get the case just let the manager know the situation. So when Sunday came i was the second person there. First of all i had to wait about 30 minutes for 3 of Mobile Dept employees were tending to the only person before me, then when i asked the employee about the phone he didnt even know what it was!!! He went to the "manager" and the manager came out and showed me the phone and started telling me about it. This is where i started getting p!ssed off. He first tends to tell me they dont have the phone in blue... only black... :-].. HUH?? secondly he starts talking about how its "cool because it has a stylus like the nintendo DS"... I kinda told him it was an S-Pen and what it could do and he just looked at me and said "same thing" and walked away!!!. At this point i was annoyed after waiting and the employees lack of professionalism/knowledge so i wanted to get the phone and just leave. I told the other employee i would be buying without contract, about the price match policy and that i had still wanted the free case that i was promised. He called the manager back and the manager said the most they could do is give me the case for 50% off since i waited for so long!!! We argued back & forth as i felt i was lied to and jipped. I told him i was paying $700+ for a phone choosing to go thru them only for the black tie protection plan and it was crap that I was told otherwise about getting the free case. He kind of chuckled at me then told me "i was free to go elsewhere but thats what he could do"!!! Then when they finally opened my phone and activated it all 3 employees and the manager were looking at it and playing with it for a good minute or 2 before even giving it to me! It got to the point where the manager was like "ohh sorry but weve never seen one of these things powered on and we wanted to look at it"... This particular location used to be awsome. Im a Silver Rewards Zone member and i would know all the employees by name... i knew as soon as i walked into a dept i would be harassed by that dept rep if i needed help. They were knowledgable and friendly. Those days are sense gone and now they have a whole new slew of workers that dont know anything, and look annoyed to even do their job. Its impossible to get them to even help you out if you need it without having to chase one of them down. Did anyone else have any issues with Pre-ordering or price matching?
Please use the return key.

The moral of the story is, order directly from AT&T next time. Best Buy always jacks up the off-contract price. It has never been worth it to buy a mobile phone from them. They could give me a free case studded in diamonds and I still wouldn't buy the phone from them.
Also, paragraph breaks are your friend.
Sorry to hear your issues in getting your GNote. I have bought at Best Buy and always had good service. Looks like Best Buy and ATT borked up the pre-ordering for this phone. I heard stories of people who had pre-ordered from both finally give it up and walk in on launch day and buy the phone.
I did not pre order, but I get mine on launch day. It seems like these phones are launching so quickly that all employees are not up to speed on all the phones, specs or even that they are launching that day. That is why once you get someone good, stick with them!

Sorry those people sucked haha it does happen sometimes. I work for BBYM and I can tell you that some are not the most knowledgeable.. Hell my boss has absolutely no idea on different specs or upcoming phones. But he's not really supposed to. Do you know how many new phones come through every couple weeks? The ATT rep will hand him a spec sheet with highlights and thats it. He certainly wont do any outside research. Its the sales people that should be the ones trained on phones. So for their incompetence I apologize.
As for the other stuff, our pre-ordering system blows. Know that. But, it can also reap some pretty good benefits if you are a little patient with it. The price matching thing does work on pre-orders as I have done it for a couple customers with the galaxy nexus.
So knowing what you do now, would you still get your phone from best buy? Just curious. As one of the top 50 performing stores in the company this past quarter, I like to gauge outside response on peoples experience.
Oh and enjoy your note!

If it wasn't for the black tie protection program I wouldn't go back there period. I got my iPhone 4 4s and nexus S with the protection and have loved it. But this particular location has gone down hill.

Dude that sucks.. I know alot of the bbuy employees in my local one by name and get alot better service there compared to at$t/tmobile stores. You should have asked for the store manager not the bbym one.. And known the name of the one that said he would give the case to you for free.
Btw you know there was a 3x rewards coupon active for release day, should have been in your email.. Would have been almost 45 back in reward points.

This is why I opted to buy the phone through at&t. BB is not a good place to buy phones at a full price. Good for upgrading though, which is what I use them for.

In-Store Experiences

Who else picked up their Note II in a brick and mortar store? Did you get there before the store opened? Were a lot of people waiting for or discussing the phone?
I got to my local Verizon store a few minutes before it opened. There was already a guy waiting there, so I asked him if he was waiting for the same thing I was... and he was. We talked about the features for a bit and then got let into the store. I got the Titanium Grey model. The store manager did my transaction... when he went back to get the phone, he brought a small pile of cases and screen protectors for me to choose from. I told him I already had both... heh. The guy who was there before me shared emails with me and we tested S-Beam before we left the store. It was pretty cool. I'm surprised there weren't more people waiting for it, but I don't live in a huge town.

i personally had a system glitch when i was using my fiancé's line to upgrade on her line then to switch to my phone to keep my unlimited data. but in the middle of it all the system glitched and i was able to buy the phone on a discounted price without renewing my contract and keep my unlimited data. will be waiting a few weeks to see if my unlimited data drops and if it does they will put in a request to return it the way it was. cause i personally did not sign a new 2 year contract nor was i asked to.
and i was at the store at 11 am there was a older gent in his mid 60's buying one. lol and i bought it in one of the biggest stores in tampa.
I went to a Verizon Store in a BJ's. Guy there was a total jerk. I must have been the first customer since I got there about 10min after the store opened and he was turning on the phones. I exchanged my DNA and got my Note. I was so pissed about the guys attitude. (sighs, tone of voice, throwing my DNA box on the counter) I forgot to ask for a white Note so I'm stuck with a Titanium and I'm not paying $35 to exchange it for a white one.

verizon only allows 1 exchange.
Did you buy the DNA from the same store? If I get attitude, I just tell them to refund me and I'll go buy it online through a 3rd party vendor. That usually changes their attitude.

Yeah I bought the Note and DNA at the Verizon Kiosk at BJ's Wholesale Club. The only other corporate store around here is in the "hip" outdoor mall that is PACKED this time of year.
So since I returned my DNA for this Note, I couldn't exchange it for a white one even if I wanted to?

Probably not. They only allow 1 exchange by policy. Might be able to sweet talk them.
I arrived at my Verizon store at 11 and was able to get the white note 2. I was a little nervous on not being able to get it since the manager the day before told me they only had a total of 4 note 2s (2 grey, 2 white) and that around 70 people called into the store the past few days asking about the Note 2.
I bought my Note 2 outright so I can keep my unlimited data. Oh and there was also a Samsung rep in the store completely decked out in samsung gear with both a Note 2 and S3 in hand checking out the place and taking pictures on how the store was displaying Samsung products. He came up to me and gave me a nice Samsung Mobile pen. He talked about how I liked the Note 2 and I talked to him about his role with Samsung.

I would have told him that its great but its unfortunate Samsung couldn't stand its ground on the bootloader.
Mine was smooth. Went in. Fondled it and Decided to pay retail (keep unlim). I'm surprised the guy didn't try pushing me to upgrade since I'm eligible but I was straightforward on cost and knowledge so he'd have to get the next sucker, haha.

Smooth transaction, no wait. We went up there to pre order on Tuesday and picked it up Thursday. Neither trip took more than 20-30 minutes, and part of that was just bs'n with the guy(gotta establish a hook up!). We were the only order as far as I know(it's a new location), and the guy said he had to take a peek at it before we got there..none of the people there had ever seen the phone before, and they couldn't believe how big it was! I believe most of them had iPhones too, so yeah I'm sure it did look huge to them! Haha. Our salesman had an iPhone, iPad and had just gotten an iPad mini, so let's just say he's no Android expert(or warranty expert for that matter), but very helpful nonetheless. So far I'm happy with the switch. Came from T-Mobile.

Saw best buy mobile in a nearby mall had stock so I ordered it for in store pickup at 6:30 am. Went after work to get the phone. They were sold out of titanium and had one white left when I got there. I got the titanium. Pretty smooth transaction.

I got mine at the VZW store at the mall last night. We had a great rep who took care of us and got done what we needed to as it was a bit of a song and dance porting my number and merging onto my fiancee's account. It took a good while, but he made the time pass quickly.
I'm liking the N2 so far. ^
I got mine at a store in Jacksonville. The sales rep was awesome because I had an issue with my pre-order, and she felt bad so she mine stashed away one for me so I could come get it after class. She said she wasn't really allowed to do that, but she started my order for me so that she had a reason to hold it. She said there were people waiting outside before they opened and sold about 5-6 within the 40 minutes since it opened. They didn't get many in, so I'm assuming I got one of the last ones. Overall a good experience.

I walked into a corp store here in town (Champaign, IL) at 10:45 and was meet by a manager and representative right away. Manager took notice cause I was carrying a box with all the DNA stuff in it .. Asked why I was returning the phone and then asked the sales lady to help me out... Only thing that held me up was the fact that the lady couldn't find the transactions for my DNA case to refund me but eventually did.. I got the White Note 2 and am very happy with me purchase.. My local Verizon store has always been top notch as well.
Not able to buy it yet, but went and checked out the Verizon version in store to see what was different about it. Wife is sold on it too. Thought she'd be getting the iphone 5 so pretty happy she came to her senses. Didn't think she'd go for the note 2 though; been talking about the DNA or the GSIII to her.
Got there around the store opened. A little after 9. Only 2 people ahead of me. My own hassle was being able to keep my unlimited data, because I paid half up front and put the rest on the bill. They had to remove the unlimited then call CS to add it back. Also my cable was faulty, it wouldn't charge so had to go back and get a new one, but they didn't have a white ones left so just gave me a black one. Other than that pretty easy experience.
Bought a Sprint n2 a month ago because we now have sprint lte. But their coverage is not as good as Verizon. So selling the sprint and hour to recoop the 350 cancellation fee. Used upgrade to buy Verizon n2 at 10am on launch day. 5 sold right away. Bought at Verizon store. Went by best buy but to crowded and didn't see a display so they may not have had it yet. Verizon rep very nice and helpful. All went great. Love Verizon and note 2!

You had to exchange the phone for a bad cable?? Or are you referring to the cable color? I got the Titanium Gray, but my charger and cable were white. Is that the norm?
I got such a stress headache worrying that I wouldn't be able to get one. My 14 day return period on the S3 ended on the 29th and the N2 was available on the 29th but I read here and there that some stores only had 2, some didn't have white, etc. If I couldn't get a white one, I was going to have to order it and use an old HTC Rhyme with a cracked screen in the meantime. So as I approached the store at 8:45 and saw cars, one after another turning into the parking lot. My heart was racing as I quickly found a parking spot. I wondered why people aren't getting out of their cars and lining up at the door when I realized there was a Starbucks right in the same shopping center. There was not one person in line for Verizon. I went in, exchanged my phone and was the only customer in the store. They said they had 20 of each color in stock. I celebrated my good fortune with a Starbucks Cappuccino.
