I wanted to say thanks guys! All of you have been great and I have learned a lot about my touchpad. But on Friday I will be getting a Xoom. I like the touchpad but I really want Honeycomb. I like CM7 but I am kind of sick of it as I have it on my Nook and phone. So My touchpad will go on e-bay this weekend. I love Webos but I just dont see a real future in it (even with a new ceo). If they pick it back up and start putting out new stuff maybe i will return one day.
I know you guys will be rocking these things to the fullest!

the whole community basically collapsed on itself. I don't think I'll be buying another tablet anytime soon. it's not worth it. Maybe 2020, things might improve... I'm throwing this TP in the trash..

Good luck with your new device but are you sure you wanna get the Xoom? You should really give the Samsung Galaxy 8.9 or 10.1 a try. Better yet, wait for the Sony Tablet S.

Personally, I would get a Xoom too, with it being Google's child basically, it's always going to be in the loop for things.
Good luck i would to recommend the sammy im gonna hold on a bit longer and wait for cm7 after a month the £89 i paid doesnt seem as much of a bargain

I don't know what the hell matter is over HP, and I used to trust HP a lot and still hold my confidence with those guys. But why HP just pick up some changing plans and move on? I still HP still have unique competitiveness in hardware field of IT industry.

How did Google Chrome get all it's apps?
Well i like the Samsung, but it does not have a SD slot, HDMI out (I think there is another one but i can remember). Now i could but the adapters for the Samsung but the hell with that lol.
The Xoom will not cost me a lot once i sell the TP. The xoom also has some great Roms, apps and accessory support.
I will miss the touchstone.. that's my favorite thing lol.

They are censoring and pruning criticism. They deleted my post that outlined several disappointments. The post was not inflammatory or insulting at all. It just outlined issues I had with the device, and why I was disappointed with the purchase.
I touched on locked bootloader, 1GB restriction, and not being able to sideload apps via the SD card.
I know they are entitled to censor their page, but that's really disappointing.
No surprises there. It's all about corporate image and they are fighting against Amazon right now.
We could make our own Facebook page to voice our disappointments. They couldn't delete that. Just a thought.

I totally would if I still had a vested interest in this product. I decided to take mine back and grab the Galaxy Tab 7 plus, and not because of the locked boot loader or issues with it. TBH, I have total confidence that it will get rooted and there will be development, it just takes time. Personally it's been their support and attitude that turned me off. The BN support told me to take it to the store and I could get it partitioned, drove all the way there (which is about 30 min away), and everyone there had no idea what I was talking about. One semi-knowledgeable person said I could only repartition if it was a NC.
That kinda stuff really bothers me. I'd rather spend the extra $, at least I know what I'm getting with a Samsung product.

I know. I was talking about the NT getting rooted eventually.
One thing that annoys me is that after the Color was rooted, B&N marketing made a huge deal about it being a tablet. Not that they mentioned rooting, but they did ride the tablet buzz. And how did they thank the community that made that possible?
I've bought lots more Kindle books than Nook books, and I see that trend continuing in spite of it being so much less annoying to have put the Nook app on my Kindle Fire than the Kindle app on my Nook Tablet.
So, I just checked the B&N face book page and there are many posts including mine. Mine specifically got...a little spirited.(some one on the internet thinks i was wrong. REALLY felt the need to inform me of that.)

I got it today at Best Buy. I think it was worth the extra $. The good thing about buying it at BB right now is I have until Jan 24th 2012 to return it. So basically risk free for 2 months. I love their holiday return policy.
Hey Guys, Make sure you stop by the #Asus-Transformer IRC channel. We were going to create a separate channel for the prime but figured since we already have a well established room with a lot of devs, themers and "powerusers" we would just keep it one channel for now

They will probably will just end up paying royalties.
original prime is being released on few weeks here, just popped up for pre orders.

I want my tablet in couple months. but its going to take a while before the improved prime comes here. Asus just lost my interest in the original prime. If nothing interesting wont show up @ ces, i suppose i have to wait for the new prime.

Ill be picking up my 3rd tomorrow as well lol! I returned mine today thinking i would not miss it. Boy was i wrong, it took a little bit of prying from my hand at the return desk lol. I had a little bit of screen bleed about one or two reboots per day but pretty good wifi but no GPS. I thought i would not miss it. Boy was i wrong!
Its been not even 24hrs and im hunting one down! My gf says she knew i would , that its a sickness or a challange for me hahaha!
I knew i was making a mistake when i laid down a extra several hundred dollars at BB last night for a ultra book. YUCK! I told her look at it this way even when i get my Prime & the dock again we will be saving $300 bucks. Its a win win haha!
Prime Time!
I finally got my Prime Rooted and now I'm eagerly waiting for some cool custom firmware.
I've never posted anything here but have used the site for quite some time...
Anyway, I ended up bricking my TFP this morning by messing something up when reinstalling CM9... I got stuck in a fastboot loop that was maddening!
Bumble-Bee on #asus-transformer helped me out big time and we were able to fix the problem. Ended up flashing a custom CWM.blob directly to boot.img and viola!
I was gonna post this on the BRICK topic in the Dev forum but i dont have enough posts yet lol
Yes, finally got my prime rooted and overclocked at 1.6ghz. Antutu you're mine!
yep yep got it unlocked and rom'd and OC'd to 1.6
my antutu was 13210
damn this thing is fast.....lol
I had a TFP for a few days, it was very good but suffered from poor build quality the gps didn't work and there was light bleed bottom right hand corner, surffice to say i sent it back for a refund.

I'm in the same situation. What did you do that got it running again? My issue is that I can't get my computer (Windows 7-64bit) to recognize the device in fastboot.

I have a feeling that it should settle most of the flame wars. The bottom line is, although it is the best tablet out, I can't recommend it because of the "lottery" quality control asus has.

It's actually a very good and well done piece, IMHO.
It's good that this gets more mileage for Asus to really move its butt (not that they haven't, but they could do more).
You should have also mentioned the fact there still a lot of devices out there that exhibit none of the prevalent issues, as well as a lot of customers who are satisfied despite the issues (just to balance things a bit).
But, overall, as I've mentioned, it's a good piece.
Although it seems more than a few are wondering how Gary would feel about this Greg person you mentioned.

Well done, dood. i like how you touched base on all of the problems, but didnt just throw ASUS under the bus either. was quite a fair documentary. i remember you talking about this in the prime to tab convert thread (where i killed that fanboy ) im glad you followed through with it

Sorry dude. I was searching for recent Asus Prime video. I don't have 1 yet but getting 1 soon. I wanted to share what I found because your video is right on to the point. A lot of people were hipped about this tablet but once they become owners all you read now is negative.
Update your first post when Review 2 is up. I'm hoping for in-depth review.
I liked the video, was right to the point and informative. I learned a lot about the Tegra 3 that I didn't know before. (I kinda jumped into the Prime without doing much research)
I haven't really had any issues w/ my Prime. GPS is weak compared with my Xoom, but works good enough. Wifi is also right on par w/ the Xoom. Been rooted and overclocked since I got it, and really its only shutoff once. (during a file transfer, kind of annoying)
Overall, its the best Android tablet I've used. (I've used quite a few)
Nice video. When can we expect PART 2 (full review)? Will Part 3 include the mods for WiFi and GPS?
Enjoyed your video. I'm really looking forward to Part 2.

It's a mini documentary on the Prime and it's troubles. It is by far the best tablet around (I have a properly working device) but not everyone can say the same, Asus has dropped the ball big time here, and it's about time everyone saw the full story.
Maybe xda TV could make a little foot note of it, in one of your videos?

Great video! A lot of information I didn't know about the transformer. Makes me kind of glad that I didn't buy one immediately.
I do love Asus, but this makes me sad that the transformer performed like this in the beginning.
I'm hoping the Padfone is an amazing product and doesn't fail at the beginning like the transformer.
