See the original thread. It should have more than enough to show you the way.

That's funny I had an old blackberry cable and tried the same thing. For some reason it would not work for me. So Sunday night I ordered the one from Amazon. It came in today and no more triangle!
I even took it down to see the pin that wasn't soldered (#4). Still wouldn't work.

That's werid

My original homemade one was just 3 100k and 1 1k 1/4w resisters twisted together in series. Shaped it like a horseshoe in side some tape with the two ends sticking out like 1/8 inch right next to each other but not touching. It was ugly but did the job. I have since ordered one for 2$ also.

You need the captivate USB B plug or the one from the sgs II, go to the Samsung captivate android development forum...and it should be the first stickie. Also you can do a search on utube excellent videos by the developers there

[Q] Is there an external antenna port near the battery (see picture) on our Vibrants?

I know the captivate has an external antenna port. I see a rubber grommet near where the antenna terminal should be. Has anyone actually taken the grommet off, and tried the port?

Yes indeed that is the external port.
I tried it when I first got my vibrant and needed a better signal for tethering. I now use a repeater but it did work fine.

yup if you really needed to use I guess you could but more a hassle than anything
what is it for? better signal?

Strange thing. On my friend's i9000 there is no such grommet. just a bare external antenna connector.
How do you use that port?
yea lol how do u use it, any pics too? I'm intruiged. Never knew those were antenna ports but they do look like it if you remove the gromet! ha learn something new.

You can get the correct connector off ebay,or wilson electronics I believe. It was only about 5 bucks then connect it to a portable cell ant. Or do like I did and buy a yagi ant and mount it outside.
I live in a rural area and I went from 1 bar to full signal inside which made my tethering much more robust.
Just gently pop off the rubber piece and you will see the port.

New GS2 has cyanogen wall paper...

Ok I just picked it up, when I got home I noticed the wall paper was as seen in the screen cap. I opened it from a sealed box with all factory stickers and packaging. ? I am lost?a device that was returned?

I don't have it in my stock wp library.

Did you have a phone with Cyanogen before you got your new phone? I could be wrong, but I think it has to do with the Google account sync. I switched from an Atrix to a SGS2 and my wallpaper was transferred along with my contacts.
That explains that.

Both boxes on my GS2's didn't have any stickers on them at all. Bought one from Best Buy and the other from Sam's Club. What stickers are you referring to OP?
My background changed after sync Google account... I was running cog by design gears on cappy

That's what I'm wandering. Everyone keeps using the term factory sealed, but mine wasn't sealed. I didn't even let the ATT guy touch it. I took it striaght home (needed my fantasy apps, it was Sunday).
By factory sealed I men the little clear circle piece of tape that you cut to open the box. And by stickers I mean ether labels on ever device its self "txt and drive can edit" my point was that out was new. anyway I did have CM on my infuse right before I switched to the GS2. So that answers my question.

Plastic piece for charging port lost!!!

How do I get another one of those plastic plug things for my prime to use for the charging port? I've had my prime for 3 days and lost it already :-(
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using xda premium
If you mean the thing that you're supposed to take out and then leave in the box forever and forget about, then I don't think you'll ever get another one.
I still have mine and use it to keep particles away. Protecting the charging port is a good thing and imo doesn't hurt the look either. I actually have 3 from returning my previous Primes. Having that added protection is nice.

I have had issues in the past with devices getting the charging port fudged up like bent or broken and honestly when I saw the prime had I thought it was brilliant! Haha. Well if you left yours in the box and don't need it can I have it?
Seriously though. This is a real concern of mine. I think the dog ate it. LOL.

Lol, sir really? Why, do you think that thing is gonna safe your prime when you drop it? LOL.
USB port rubber plug
To be honest, I don't share your concerns and don't really intend to use mine so, if you are interested, PM me your mailing address and I'll send you mine.
Lol did this really warrant a whole thread? btw, Sugru would probably be a good solution to your problem. you can make new plugs whenever you want. Its a moldable silicon that drys at room temperature. Check it out!

USB Sync / Charge cable problems (replaced, solved)

So I've had my tab since May the 12th (I just looked) and the cable is coming apart by the tablet end. I am never hard on it so I'm rather annoyed.
I went to BestBuy and those idiots told me no way no how was I getting one from anyone but Samsung. (Sure... kids) They made me so annoyed I looked at the receipt date and looked up the policy in the store. I was going to return the tablet just to get a new cable. (Been over 30 days)
Went to Walmart and they sell the cable+usb charging brick for $49.97. No way!
Anyone else had a problem with the cable?

It still works... But for how long?
They are plentiful and cheap on eBay. I have like 8.

in case of zombie apocalypse, break glass.... then swing ;-)
the cables are very cheap and any high current charger seems to work ok, at least the ones for phones that require some kind of short or resistor across the USB data lines.

I bought a couple of these on the 1st and received them today. Branded Samsung and look just like the one I got with my Tab.

I bought one that can both sync and charge (with switch) in the shop at my area : http://goo.gl/UQUdU and it cost me about $2, maybe you can try at dealextreme or other online shop based on hk (they're usually cheap).
Yeah I have the same problem with you. This cable is real crap. It is still working and charging. But when it comes to connecting to pc it is just refuse to work.
Sent from my GT-P5100 using Tapatalk 2
Your picture reminds me of my good old iPhone 3Gs-times. There the cable had this on both sides
Well I finally got around to buying another cable. Mine got to where it would charge really slow. Take 10 hours without using it to fully charge it.
I bought one from Tiger Direct. Been buying from them for 15+ years. Its made by iLuv. Works so good. Charges it in fast mode like its supposed to! Its built much better than the stock cable. I think its going to last.

and i wanna fix it.
dont care if i save data, would actually prefer to root it.
i know absolutely nothing about this stuff, but i'm not technically challenged.
i looked at this thread got the drivers installed but, looking at the command its asking me to input i'm not sure where to do that. Do i need a secondary program, or do i need to use my linux machine since i'm gonna go out on a limb and say windows command line wont know what that is?
anyways, please help, if this is the wrong area, i can move it.
I think you have a kfhd find the other kindle fire HD forum... Fwiw how did you wind up at this screen? You should only be able to get there 3 ways none of which accidental

well it actually was an accident.
i spilled some water on my kindle. immediately tossed it in a box of rice for a week.
plugged it into the charger now this. so. unfortunately it was an accident. before that it was functioning fine.
Then I have a theory. Your pins 1 and 4 on your USB input has corrosion and is shorting itself out. This is either in the connector or the input.
I would carefully pry it apart and check for this no amount of flashing would fix this if I'm right.
(I've seen this once before and was right)
