Unlock Xperia Ray Boot Loaders Without lossing DRM data - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

Guys after working hundreds of hour , i have posted a guide to unlock boot loaders of xperia ray without losing DRM data.
it is 100% tested and working fine , i also tried cyanogenmod , MIUI and all working well
you can follow this guide :-
unlock boot loaders of xperia ray without losing drm data
This method is also applicable for other xperia devices , if you are using other xperia phone then find your phone's test point here :
Test Points for Xperia Devices – Xperia Arc / Active / Mini / Mini Pro / Neo / Play / Pro / Ray
if you like my work then hit thanks , i also appeal developers to post more info about it , as i am n00b

Yeah if you want to 100% void your warranty then do this. If you mess with the TA then you WILL void your warranty. Ok I did it with my ray ages ago and just did it with my play but SE have now made trackID that needed DRM keys to work now not need them. Head over to the play themes and apps section and it's there.

Too much complicate with these cables, etc. I used for this only one paper clip. Connection was between testpoint and metal casing sim slots! So simple
And i was unlocking branded Ray with NO access to fastboot Now i have unlocked bootloader, fastboot and simfree, track-id still works olny for 15 GBP http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1304417 i got also full backup of my bootloader.
If you have access to fastboot mode (blue LED) it will by free for you http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1285285

You had to pay for it? . See I like the idea and if you know you won't break or brick the device then do it. But if you do hard flashing and drop your phone a lot then don't do it as it does void your warranty this way. Where we modify the TA area it is against the warranty and voids it. This is why I don't advise doing it if you are likely to need the warranty. But I will say now. If anyone has the play and wants to try this then it is actually quite tricky as it is underneath the battery and the battery need to be inserted. Also when removing the test point you can't remove the battery so..... Just pick the device up and hold the back button when removing the test point wire.

to unlock bootloader you need fastboot - in branded/locked phone fastboot needs to be enabled via PAID hardware/software.
using this method, i was aware of the void the warranty
during the whole process i did not pulled out the battery

It's still unclear for me why people want to unlock their bootloader?? Rooting can be done via the exploit so..

for custom kernel /overclocking / CM7 / MIUI etc

and for installing custom kernels

O allrightt I thought that was also possible with locked bootloaders

Noob question here... Is it possible to just unlock the bootloader the usual way, like I did on my Xperia Play or does it have to be done the way in OP?

yes you can unlock it usual way , infact peoples are using normal way to unlock bootloaders of Xperia phones
but if you don't want to lose track id like apps then use above posted method

I've unlocked my bootloader using the testpoint method which allowed me to install the 2.3.4 ROM on my branded Orange Ray when it first came out.
Just used DoomLord's tool to root. Really easy.
I think the only thing I'm missing is FastBoot, but I'm not sure there's a compelling need for that at the moment, to me at least?!

Just one noob question.
If I unlock the bootloader with testpoint methode and flash a custom kernel, did I also lose DRM data?
Or can I then flash a stock kernel and nothing wouldn't seen that I ever flash a custom kernel. Also Track ID and so one will work fine?

If you unlock the bootloader with testpoint methode it will not cause loss DRM flashing software, kernels, etc. also will not lose of DRM data
DRM we lose when we unlock bootloader by official method (SE webpage and unlock key from that page)
Track-id and SEUS update work fine for my Ray unlocked by testpoint (paid method for branded phone)

relock bootloader - possible?

Hi there is it possible to relock the boot loader for xperia mini? I unlocked it because i tried CM7. Now I am thinking of going bag to original firmware. Any help is appreciated!
If relocating is not possible, what should one do to get as close as possible back to the original firmware, is it still possible to get official upgrades?
Best,

Third, remember if you are doing it with official method, you will never able to receive FOTA or SEUS update, you can, but only by flashing from xda.
So since we did the unofficial method, After we update through SEUS the bootloader is still unlocked?
I don't know about that. Since the service info still says bootloader unlocking allowed, I think the phone thinks itself as still locked. Flashing from seus might rely more on drm instead of whether the bootloader as locked or not.

when service info says Bootloader unlock allowed: true, that means that it the bootloader is locked, but can be unlocked at will
as many devs say, unlocking the bootloader voids the warranty and bricks the phone when doing FOTA or SEUS
but there's a flashtool out there for us that will take care of it

You do know this method right? http://androidflip.com/unlock-xperia-phones-bootloader-without-losing-drm-data-track-id-working/ When using that method, it is unlocked but the report still says 'Bootloader unlock allowed: true'. So if you use this method (as what idareyou and me were doing back then) the phone thinks that it is still 'locked', even though it's unlocked.

Yeah. I can confirm that my bootloader is unlocked but it still says 'Bootloader unlock allowed:Yes'
I thought at first I wasn't succesful even though it went smoothly so I tried flashing custom Kernel and it was succesful.
I want to know if in the future if SE release their ICS and we update using SEUS the unlocked bootloader remains because believe me, I don't want to go through the same process again, I got electrecuted several time because I don't have test points, just a clip and copper wire.

To flash other ROM, you can try WotanServer or Flashtool, last one requires correct files, WotanServer needs, that you only pick, which version of firmware you want(and free account).

Yes you can do it in stock with Wotan server but take into account that this process only changes the firmware version you are on for a generic one from se maybe a newer one but nothing more after this you still won't be able to flash custom kernels or roms unless you unlock your bootloader and fast boot.
You can try the unofficial way for the bootloader and it might work I cannot warranty it but it will not be that good as most of the roms need they own kernels and you will need access to fastboot mode to do that, unfortunately you need to completely unlock your phone either with omnius or setool to gain access to fastboot and this will cost you some money.
How can flashing that 042rom allow bootloader unlocking??
Just for the hell of it, i flashed my mini pro with that rom and it has not let me unlock the bootloader at all so im a little confused here

Man that is why I hate when people just write for the like of it!!! @ seansmit17 this is not with you I hope you know what I mean.
If you have the message unlock bootloader allowed: no; then it means your phone is sim locked this will lock the fastboot mode too so you will not be able to flash a custom kernel unless you unlock the sim and fastboot mode (connecting the phone turned off and holding the volume up key to the computer = blue notification led with turned off screen and phone), the only means that I know off to unlock is either omnius or setool, this is for the sim and fastboot and it is not free.
For the bootloader you can use the test point method found in the development section, of course I can't guarantee it will work and of course this will NOT UNLOCK YOUR SIM OR FASTBOOT MODE BUT ONLY YOUR BOOTLOADER.
When you install a generic firm with Wotan server it is like a seus upgrade and nothing else well it will allow you to get the last upgrades when they come out due to a change in product code but that's it. The same with flashtool but without the change in product code.
Hope it helps.

Unlocking bootloader from Live with Walkman

I researched about the matter, and reached some conclusions:
- I don't want to use the TEST POINTER method, I really don't care about OTA updates or Track ID app (as far as I know there are no more consequences), Shazam and Soundhound do the same
- I would like to unlock the bootloader in some manner that, if I need to relock the warranty will still be valid (same goes for root, but I guess flashing an original firmware unroots the device)
That said, found the official instructions to unlock the BL, but still have the main question: is it the procedure completely reversible? Also, is it free?
Thanks in advance. Also really appreciate if someone corrects something wrong I said.

you can still relock your bootloader and receive official sony updates, but the problem is, you loose DRM(in which if sony finds out, you still lose warranty).
i found this thread and said that DRM cannot be restored :/
I don't know about non free relocking if it will be able to restore DRM though.
oh and by the way, this thread provides the easiest way to unlock and relock your bootloader for free.
goodluck and enjoy
DRM cannot be restored at all.
Install TrackID from market and it will work.
Bootloader can be relocked, doesn't matter how you unlocked.
And yes, it is free.

Ok, so I suppose the DRM Keys only affect the OTA updates (how should we care if we are unlocking BL for custom ROMs
So, I suppose if I have a problem on my Live (but it still turns on), I apply an OFW and then relock it, it's a matter of luck if the techical assistance is going to check if the DRM is still valid or not.
What method do you advice to unlock the BL?

Unlock it the way you prefer to it does not matter it will lose warranty any way it is just luck if they will check it or not at the service center. Any way it is really hard to completely brick your phone unless you don't know what you are doing. The main difference is with the test point method you are able to update using seus without problems and it looks more complicated than it really is I only used a clip
just a question about unlocking thru official method.
since you would have to get the unlock key directly from Sony.
would they be able to track your phone since you will be giving them some details like your name, IMEI, email etc. to get the unlock code?
do the service centers have access to that database?
There are no Sony Mobile Service Centers, phones need to be taken back to shop and they use service of specific mobile repair shop.
Depending on what reason you need to take it back, they might want to check it or not. No one has so far done this, so we have no information.

There is no risk either way the difference is that with the official method you will lose your drm (Digital rights management) and the official support of track id (the app from se that you use to search for the info of a song playing in the radio or the tv etc.) meanwhile using the test point method you will not lose them. If you want to install a custom rom like cm9 or miui you need to unlock your bootloader to be able to flash the custom kernels those roms need.

I cannot understand the difference because as fair as I understand right now, all live's (branded/sim unlocked or not) are unlockable (referring to bootloader).

When they come with boot loader unlock : no it is a branded sim locked phone in which case you can unlock bootloader but you will have no access to fastboot meaning you are unable to flash a custom kernel, also there will be no way you can officially unlock the bootloader so will have to use the test point method and of course you will need to pay to fully unlock your phone to be able to access fastboot and flash custom kernels.

[Q]Testpoint or not

Can anyone explain what the advantages of unlocking the bootloader via the testpoint method are over using the "official" SE way of doing it.
I have read some stuff about drm keys....but what functionality will actually be lost if I do it via SE way.
Man i cant explain advantages of testpoint method but i can say this method is horror for me;i am using for my phone "official" method and i am happy
sorry for my bad english
its a horror until u try it..
i tried it and its not that difficult.. and FYI i AM A NOOB.. lol
advantages: u can relock bl later.. and retain uur warranty.. and use apps like track id..
with official method u lose the warranty for sure...
Disadvantages of official method,
+.You will loose warranty due to they are logging imei numbers who used this method
+.You will loose drm keys,Sony apps like track id won't work
+.PC companion won't work,it will brick your phone if you use pc companion
+.You will have to wait till ICS update comes for wotan or ftf format in order to upgrade to ICS due to pc companion not working.
Advantages of official method,
+. Easier process comparing to S1tool/SETool2 method for most users, tho test point method is not that hard imho.
Advantages of S1tool/SETool2 method,
+.Warranty
+.drm keys will not be gone,so Sony apps work
+.PC companion works well for updating & repairing phone(I can confirm on SETool2 paid method, not sure about S1tool method).Believe me repair function in pc companion is one very useful thing when you screw up with flashing custom roms,it saved my phone more than 10 times now
+.In SETool2 paid method Jinx13 will do everything needs to be done to unlock the boot loader via team viewer, all you gotta do is connect the test point to the wire when he says
watch this video, tons of info in there
THIS VIDEO
DRM, Facebook like in the stock music player and the old version of TrackID won't work.
Some of these can be fixed by some patch.
@all:
You can relock your bootloader if it's unlocked via the official way by flashing a simple ftf in flashtool. After that you can use PC companion normally.
And if by the way you happen to connect the wrong point accidently, u will screw up the trim area...which will be a bigger problem...so...noobies why not go with the easier method...I m a noobie so prefered official method...and it is relockable....so I will suggest the official method.

IF the trim area gets damaged, it can be easily fixed with an ftf found at the xperia play forums. Tested by me.
Oficial Metod is better, you can re-lock bl without problems, and unlocking is really easy. I found here on Xperia Neo Forums that you can't re-lock bl if you used testpoint metod. So I dont know if you can or not.. somebody say yes somebody say no.

Guys keep in mind that if you connect the wrong point doing the testpoint method you can not only damage the trim area but also damage the phone itself physically.
I was one of the first to try the method and used wrong information from russian forum and bricked my phone completely.Fortunately i got it repaired under warranty but just keep in mind that depending on what exactly you shorten you can damage the phone itself.

Relocked bootloader

It's possible to relock bootloader for Xperia X F5122 after unlock?
You can. But there's no way to recover DRM keys for now.

There's no way to recover your drm keys at all ever, one of the reasons I'm waiting off unlocking my xa bootloader no ta back up

Relocked and Camera NOT Working... - Unlock, and it works.
Hi everyone, i have unlocked my Xperia X f5122 34.0.A.2.292 bootloader (Sadly)
after unlocking i noticed some functions like X-Reality not working anymore on my device...
i wanted to relock it again using flashtool, and i did it easily
but after relock camera will not work (camera app hangs when i press button or touch) - third party apps not working too.
when i unlock it again, i get camera working...
is there any way to relock bootloader and make camera work like when device is unlocked?
(sorry for bad english)

Don't know how to fix it but you could just flash this kernel:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-x/development/root-xperia-x-34-0-2-292-modified-t3449708
All functions like x-reality will work with this kernel
Relock then FLash? hmmm

Problably not, you've unlocked your bootloader so your TA-partition is whiped meaning you lost your DRM keys. You can not get them back anymore. So without a kernel with DRM-fix you wont get functions like x-reality back. So just keep your bootloader unlocked and use a custom kernel with DRM-fix and you'll be fine.

Got a question, hope you can help me.
How close is that DRM-fix to the original DRM keys in terms of quality?

Is it possible to make the "bootloader is unlocked" message when booting up disappear?
No, only by relocking your bootloader.

Isn't Xperia XA came out on Android 6.01 ? if that so then you can use DirtyCow script to extract drm keys / TA.img.

you can block the bootlader now in android 8 and the camera is work
Hello: Someone can tell me if after opening it, the booloader can be blocked again. I have the DRM keys. I tried to do it by Flash Tool, but when I turn on the phone it always asks me for the android key and I do not know what it is.
Thank you.
I answer: Easy with oreo. An ftf of oreo is installed by flashtool and the mobile starts, we accept debug usb and developer mode. The mobile is turned off and reconnected to flashtool, given to the blu and relock option. When finished, disconnect the mobile and turn it on. Ask for Android key, well, it turns off and connects to xperia companion. The repair firmware option is given and the instructions are followed and when finished we have repaired oreo and the bootloader as before unlocking it.
Kisses, applause and thanks to all those who have helped me with the comments.
