4038674 - 32GB Grey - On BestBuy.com. In RSS (internal inventory program) it says no results so I can't check other stores. Punch this into OMS and it allows you to order it. 1/25 is the pickup date around my area.
4040165 - 32GB Champagne - Not on BestBuy.com. Allows you to pull it up in RSS, can check other store inventory. Can't place an order in OMS, shows Unavailable to order.

The Champagne tablet doesn't have much info, just says street date was 12/12, nothing for in-stock date.
The Grey one says street date of 12/18 and in-stock date of 1/08, so I would say that is when you can expect the stores to start receiving inventory.

I don't think you have to worry about finding a Matching keyboard for grey tablet. Maybe right out of the gate. But not after that.

I'd take take with a grain of salt. Future shop has the Prime up for pre-order, Sold out though. Also all the other Big Box staores in Canada Best Buy pre-order sold out today. Staples.ca has the four models listed for pre-order. All sold out except for the 32gb Champagne miodel.
Yes, they wil be in the stores, but I doubt before Christmas, but just a hunch on my part. Good luck.

Yah I definitely wouldn't listen to that best buy guy. If they were guarunteed to get some stock in store then sure maybe. But as it is right now, and was for the original there was only online orders for quite awhile. I was getting my mom to order from bestbuy.ca since I am visiting the family in calgary for christmas and figured I might as well save on taxes but she hasn't done it yet and now they are sold out!
I've pre-ordered mine through Best Buy on 11/25, and under Order Status it says Release Date is 12/18/11. Not sure I would trust that, but I'm hoping this means I can get it before Christmas...
I was going to pre-order on Amazon, but I missed my chance. I was going to pre-order on Best Buy.com, but by the time I got around to doing it, I saw that the grey keyboard dock was 'Backordered'. Should this deter me? Should I just risk my chances and head to the stores when it's released? So many choices.

$150 is the price I see online and in the inventory system.
I pre-ordered from BB and it says 12/18. So I'm wondering, if Newegg and Gamestop have earlier dates and they turn out to be the correct release date, would Bestbuy hold back their release? I cannot think of a logical reason that they would do something like that.

You might be aware of the increase in price of the prime in Europe with the conversion in Euros...
I was thinking of buying just the tablet from the states and wait to buy the Spanish version of the dock. I have asked some of the official sellers and they can send it to me all right but they do not provide any substantial detail in how much the tax will be...
Do you guys know if it is worthy? Also have you ever tried any of those companies like "Unibox" which create for you an US address and they mail you the products?
Does anyone know for a fact whether Best buy charges at the time of order or shipping. Their sales department online is saying at the time of order

+1. If BestBuy doesn't charge until the tablet is shipped, and we know the tablet will be in stores say two days before it's released, then I would love to cancel my preorder and wait out in line for it.

Other than best buy, futureshop and Staples, are there any other pre order sites?
I have a champagne transformer pre ordered from staples, as they were the only local retailer that had that color code for pre-order, however I noticed that they have pulled that sku from their website entirely. Not sure what that means but when I called Staples to find out they said that it was a possibility that only a certain number of that color code were available.
I did ask about estimated shipping and the rep had told me it is still slated of the week of Dec 12. So hopefully everything goes through without a hitch.
Has anyone else had this issue at all?
The only two other two places I know you can preorder is ncix.com and memoryexpress.com. Both of those places have the champagne version as well which is why I ordered mine from memory express.
I am just hoping mine gets in before the 21st because I ordered mine in calgary and won't be flying there until the 21st (figured I would save some taxes and not ruin my finals studying with a new toy!).
My last email from Best Buy Canada said the release date was Dec 5, but other than that, no word. I wonder if we are really getting it early here in Canada vs. the US.

Memory express and NCIX have 64gig versions. Although the fact those other big guys don't have it doesn't leave me with confidence that those two will actually be getting them at the same time as the 32gig versions. I am even a bit scared my champagne unit will be late as well since its just those 2 that have it.
Memory Express had 64GB TFs available for preorder in both grey and gold, last time I checked.

Would have like to have ordered from Futureshop but they don't deliver in Quebec because of language laws so I ordered from NCIX. I ordered the original TF from them and got it the second week it came out. Another bonus is I only pay GST and shipping is fairly reasonable. I also ordered from Amazon.ca but I have a feeling I wont get it this month. I'll be canceling the other order once the first one comes in.

I asked about any release date info and they said the tablet would arrive in "the next couple weeks" but the dock would be "3-4 weeks away." Take that with a grain of salt though as I don't believe the release date info came directly from ASUS.

dang. I emailed them to ask about it and they emailed back saying they have some info and if I could call them which I figure is bad news. I had an order for champagne gold and mentioned in this thread how I was worried it wouldn't be coming. I gave them my number so we will see if they call me and what they say.

Well memory express called and said that the only unit they will be getting in is the 32gig grey and the dock. Said that asus said they guess that the champagne gold version will be released sometime in February. Pretty disappointed as I was really starting to like the look of the gold! Ah well as long as they actually get them in around christmas!
Appreciated that they took the time to call me about the order though, the guy at memory express was nice and explained how pissed they were at asus.

the 9th was an old release date. Most likely it is false considering all of the problems amazon has been having

its all speculative. dates have been seen from the 16th all the way to january of the next year. Since the release date is UNKNOWN for all retailers right now
I have a gold and a gray on pre-order from Best Buy.com, they were selling both.

yup. with amazon, you have until the day before it ships to cancel i believe.

We also have Adorama that is not listed by Asus, who was first mentioned on 1st December.
This might be helpful to figure out how likely it is or is not that you are part of the first batch or not. But do note that these dates are only the first time someone mentioned here or in transformerforums.com that pre-ordering is possible from those sellers, they might have been up for pre-orders already before that.

That's exactly what my order says. I'm hoping for some (positive) change in the next couple of days.
I have an order for the 64 GB Prime (Gray) at Amazon and have not received the cancellation notification yet.
However, just to be on the safe side, I also pre-ordered from J&R.
Well, just about 5 minutes ago, J&R called me and told me that the 64 GB (Gray) will not be shipped out until January 2012 due to Asus suspending the shipment.
How is it that I keep reading on here that Gamestop would have it available on December 19 ? Why is it that Asus suspend the Prime on some store and not on others? Strange.

None of the "official" ASUS preorder sites took orders on the 64GB version... I'm wondering if I just shouldn't expect this until mid-January. No date in December for a 64GB version seem to be panning out...

Given that Gamestop is listed as an official preorder destination on Asus' website, and J&R is not, I don't find this all that surprising. There is almost certainly an extra middleman distributor supplying stores like J&R, Adorama, and some of the other sites folks have found to order one, but Asus' commitment is to their official preorder outlets, and making sure they have enough stock to fulfill their preorders.
I haven't received a call from J&R yet, but I figure I will. When did you order yours Earthbrain?
This seems to be the trend. Newegg still seems to be on track, as is gamestop. ASUS is funneling the supply into a more focused retail base, and seems to staying true to their main channel partners.
Certainly no doubt at this point that there is a huge shortage of this thing...what concerns me is that there was such a huge initial preorder allocation, and it isn't that they are running out of preorder slots, it's that the stock just isn't appearing in the supply chain...which in the industry usually means a manufacturing issue.
That is of course unless ASUS just grossly underestimated the demand.

I will still keep my Amazon order since I have not received the cancellation notification yet. I ordered mine from Amazon on November 22.

Crap. I ordered mine on Sunday, and I got the 32GB flavor which you would think would be in even shorter supply. I guess I'll call them today.
So weird that it seems like my Gamestop preorder is going to be the one that holds up at this point.
I placed my order a while ago and got the "backordered" email, but that was explained to me that they must send it if the unit isn't available or a special pre-order. I was told it's still on target for the 15th as they hadn't received new info.

I'm not sure this forum and those placing pre-orders is a good indicator for demand. The technophiles here may only represent a tiny percentage of the population. I think we'll find out when they hit Amazon or Newegg if they remain in stock.

I'm skeptical of the huge demand as well. I live in a small twin city situation with about 200,000 people within 2 towns 20 miles apart. Between the two Gamestops in my area that sell tablets (there are 3 or 4 GS's per town) there have only been two preorders. Total. Me and one other guy. I will be interested to see the initial sales numbers on this device. I think overall, to the general public, Android tablets have a bad(cheap) name. At the GS in the town neighboring mine the manager said they are about to quit carrying tablets all together due to low demand.
Don't get me wrong though. I think this tablet should be creating some demand and likely will once more normal people see it. I have just not been convinced of it's huge preorder demand as of yet.

Amazon was listed as a "offical" Asus pre-order site, when I ordered my 64GB grey Transformer Prime on 11/22.... current shipping date still says January 9th, as it has since I placed my order.

i'm still worried about getting it "on time" with the first shipments since j&r is NOT listed as one of the official pre-order channels from asus...
i thought about calling them, but heck, the reps probably doesn't know jack... hopefully i will get some more information next week...

They don't really seem to know and in fact got their colors wrong on initial pre-orders. Anyway, they claim they are a big retailer and that's true so they expect first availability. I think it is encouraging that they were told a date by Asus for their in stock date.

When my order got canceled on amazon, same day as everyone and I ordered on the 22nd also, I came and order at JR that evening using google checkout. They still haven't called me saying they've canceled. Any chance I'm going to get a 32gb champagne gold? Should I call them and check the date? I don't have much faith in this order.
Yesterday, I put in a preorder at a gamestop location. They say that they are one of the location receiving the prime and I was the first one to preorder at that location. They said that they didn't have any in stock yesterday but expecting to arrive before 19th. I think they only have the 32gb grey. I'll settle for that if I have to. Would like to get what I wanted from JR to avoid tax also, but not getting a good feeling. I've got so many stuff canceled on me this holiday I'm getting pissed.
Any good news from anyone out there. You guys been told of the date that it will be available or something that's not canceled?
My guess is that the general public don't really know or care too much about this, it's not like an apple product or anything. Yet, I'm surprise that asus still fail to supply again.

yes, they are in fact a big retailer, so i have some faith in them... i have never ordered anything from j&r before, but i hope they don't drop the ball and get a decent initial shipment...

absolutely... as a matter of fact, no one knows about the TP outside the usual geek crowds... i mean, there are no advertisements for the damn thing, so what do you expect, right? haha... contrary to that fact, there are all these shortages and some whack shipment schedules... some sketchy sh!t, that's for sure...

I originally pre-ordered on Sunday the 4th, but it sounds like they won't get any stock until the new year, no matter when you got your order in.
I had two separate preorders for tablet & dock, and cancelled them both.

I just got off the phone with J&R, and she told me they expect a shipment around December 15th. I ordered a 32GB Grey on Friday the 2nd.
I wonder if the person I spoke with is misinformed? Or perhaps my order will be fulfilled by an earlier shipment than yours would have been? Now I'm a little worried, haha...
Contemplating driving down to GameStop...

If it's important to you, I would hedge my bets and get in the car. The guy I spoke with made it sound as if the Primes in general wouldn't show up until the new year, not that my Prime wouldn't show up until then.
Can't hurt to hang on to your preorder, but I don't think you should count on it at this point.
It's now the 8th of December. I am curious to everybody who had a pre-order from best buy, does yours still say 12/18/2011 sa the release date and also, does it say "in process"?
Have any of you spoken with Best Buy in the last day or so? I spoke to someone on Monday night and they said as far as they can tell, I am good to go.

i just found out today that the place a "hold" on your debit card every 8 days, despite what the email says about not being charged until the item shipped.
I ordered on 11/25 and was charged $531 twice since then. Caused a bunch of stuff to bounce and caused me to be charged over 200 bucks in overdraft fees. If I'd have known this was going to happen, I could've moved some money around to cover. My fault for not checking, I guess, but I was some pissed.
When I called the other day (the 2nd time I was charged), she said it was because it was in the warehouse and shipping was imminent. When that charge was removed (like the first one; this is when I found out they do it every 8 days) I called back. Today, the supervisor I spoke with said I should just cancel my order, as the SKU is no longer in the system and orders will be canceled. I told her not to touch it, as I wasn't trusting anything anyone was telling me.
I'm pretty pissed about the whole thing, but can't cancel b/c this is what the old lady wants for Xmas. We'll see, I guess.

Bought mine on the 26th and I have the same "In Progress" and 12-18-2011 date.
Ordered on 11/3 and still shows 12/18 in process.
My temp charge was removed today and BB CSR told me they have no information on availability, other than the stated 12/18/11 release date.
Mine says same ...
Order date 12/4, Release 12/18 (that's different from ship date), champagne tablet only.
try searching the sku for the champagne one on BB website. It's gone. silver one is there still (i think).

Ordered 32g Grey on 11/28 and still showing "In-Process" with a release date of 12/18.
When I called Best Buy a couple of days ago, they said that I should expect mine to be shipped so that I have it by 12/18 (not sure how they would do that since 12/18 is a Sunday). Here's hoping that I have it on 12/16 or 12/19 at worst. I also paid for next day shipping.
Ordered 32GB champagne and dock on 12/1. Mine still says 12/18 for TFP and 12/31 for dock.

Best Buy is making me crazy (and poor)
I got beat at Amazon with a Prime IN MY CART on the 23rd. I let it sit for an hour, knowing my debit card might take the full hit if I hit "Purchase" When I finally hit the button, it was too late. Went from "Pre-order" to "We will email you" Best thing ever happened to me. 1st: My Prime was a 32 gb Amethyst Grey: same model that was on all those cancellations. Who know if I would have got hit. AND: I complained in a series of escalating emails, and got: $100 credit toward anything Amazon sells and ships instead of the $20-30 most folks got. HA!
Went to BestBuy, next biggest retailer, right after the pre-order link went back up (was down on December 1st for half a day- said "Not Available" Pulled the trigger Dec 2nd - Tablet only (figured I'd get Dock at Amazon when stock came back, using my credit. When BB debited my account in 15 seconds (I had my bank account open in another tab) I panicked and canceled the order. Then freaked again, when I realized the pre-orders were limited (and they were) so I called "The credit will show up in 24-48 hours" I was told, so I placed a SECOND Order. Guess what: Both debits are still on my account. My bank said 3 days from when credit is issued. Well, BB must be holding back - it's 7 days now, and I am out $1130 - no credit for the canceled order (though it shows that way on BB site.
As for my valid order: same as everyone:
"In Process"
"Order Status: 1 item(s) preordered, release date is 12/18/11"
I have called: 3 times, and gotten 3 different answers: We are getting them on the 18th, should ship out soon after that"
"We are getting them on the 19th"
"We are getting them on the 16th, and should start shipping same day.
All supposedly read right off the BB system....
Oh, and if they tell you your order is "Verified"? That means the MONEY is verified, and BB knows they have you money, all set, no problemo, we are getting PAID, by you, so we are all set! oh... you want to know about YOU? Shipping? Stock? Release? Policies? (We have policies galore, in fact, we come up with new variations all day long!)
I just want the damn thing, and if they ship on 18th or within a day or two, cool.. (19th is a Sunday folks, so even if they package on 19th, nothing is going out that day) Oh... and Mr. BestBuy sir... where is my $#@& CREDIT!!!!?????
PS: I ordered a dock from GameStop of all places, as they were the only place left today that had a dock with an actual release date: Frys:"Unknown" J&R: "Unknown" Gamestop: December 13th ! Whee, I can type on it and pretend I have a tablet (my TF101 is gone, shipped back for refund)
Only issue: Freaking Gamestop will NOT state the freaking COLOR of the freaking DOCK!!!

Figured that was the case. I don't think anywhere has them at all...so not surprising they are not an exception. Thanks for looking into it though. I've heard other places say that end of January is when they will come in (but they may know nothing), but here's hoping.
I just got an email back from Matt at CostCaptain. He said they have 50 due in next week, but they are a hot item, so they won't be in stock for long. I put a preorder in for one. We'll see who wins, Abes of Maine or CC! ;-)
I did get my PRIME before Christmas but ordered the keyboard and PRIME at the same time and still no ETA on the dock. Any news at all?

I had a 64gb prime on order, but they sent me a cancellation email a week ago. Received that refund today, still waiting on the refund for the dock order I canceled last Tuesday (found one at both hhgregg and office depot)

I also cancelled my order (though it was only for the dock). Went ahead and snagged one from TigerDirect and I had it within the week.

Just kidding, its been 2 weeks since I cancelled my dock and they still have no idea where my refund is. Getting really annoyed, would not recommend this site so far
