Hey guys I was wondering if anyone else is having a similar problem... let me go into some detail...
When I charge the phone with the original Samsung charger or with the oroginal USB cable via PC it charges fine... so not some major problem...
Today I tried charging my phone with a iPhone charger using the original Samsung USB cable...
The phone was charging and the phone was on and working... but the screen wasn't responding at all... tho the power button was as well as the capacitive buttons... but ofcourae since the phone was locked they wouldn't do anything cuz I wasn't able to slide to unlock... it also seemed as if the apple charger got quite hot... but I'm not sure if that's how hot it normally gets...
Now I know normally it says everywhere to use the original chargers bla bla but most chargers aare interchangeable as far as I imagine... have use other HTC or Motorola chargers for other phones... but I do know apple products tend tto act up when connected to other non apple products...
So my question is does anyone know If tthis is normal with trying to use a apple charger with other phones...??
What I was also thinking is the original chargers output is 0.7A while the apple charger is 1A... both being 5volts ttho... maybe that's the problem...??
Any ideas...??

I think there's your problem... You're giving the phone more current that it can handle and can make the phone to do weird things...
I don't know if its just me or there are more that think alike, but I like to think that Apple is Apple and has its connectors/chargers and there's the rest of the world with their universal adapters, so I wouldn't try to mix those two worlds together...
If you need an spare charger/cable, get a standard microUSB cable or charger for any brand and will work without problems. I usually charge my Galaxy S2 with the HTC Desire USB cable without problems.
That's what I'm thinking too... that apple products just don't mix too well with other products... like even their handsfree for the iPhone... if I plug it into my laptop it just restarts... everytime... its weird as hell...
And yea maybe your right... only thing is I like the size of the apple charger being so small and compact hence Ita always laying in my bag... thought I could use it to charge my headset and phone...
Another thing that kinda worries me is the fact that if 1A is too much power... I just ordered a New Trent IMP70D battery pack... it has 2 USB ports for charging... one rated at 1A and the other at 2.1A... hope that's not going to be an issue with being too much power... :S
Tho I have read people are using it with their S2 with no problems...

I had the same problem a while back using a 1A charger after my samsung charger failed on me. So now I'm using my sons blackberry 700ma charger (he lost his phone DOH!) which I think is the same output as the samsung chargers.

If you really want to use the iphone charger with 1A current, then flash siyah kernel and use voltage control app to tune and make your phone receive the whole 1A current.

Yea Samsungs range from 700-800ma from what iv used on my sgs and sgs2...

I have two 230V to USB-chargers from Sony Ericsson and they charge my X10 like they should. But when I use Apples charger for the iPhone (with SE's USB-cable, of course) it won't charge the phone at all. I've tried another charger but to no avail. And my car charger won't work either.
So, my question is: Why doesn't it work? It worked perfectly with my X1.

The original charger has 700mA output and the iPhone charger has 1000mA output. So there SHOULDN'T be a problem. But it doesn't work at all.
It's not mAh you should be looking at, that's irrelevant. What's more interesting is what voltage it is. Maximum allowed as per the microUSB standard is 5V. So the Nokia charger i have around(5v/1200mAh) charges the X10 just fine And it's alot faster than the 700mAh SE charger of course - BUT - it gets hotter of course

Then Apple, being Apple, have made it non-complaint. The Nokia chargers we have here at the office(micro USB) all work just fine.

Weird. Because it works with my X1.
I thought usb2 specified 500ma (@5v) tops per port? didnt think you where allowed to pull more! guessing a 1000ma charger could be split to charge several devices at once?

Possibly. But I think the chargers are rated higher for faster charging.
The ports on the PC are rated 5V/500mAh - but the chargers can be higher for faster charging as Flamso pointed out.
Hmm that must mean that the phones are setup to allow them to pull more current otherwise it wouldnt make a diffence, makes sense though and i'm guessing thats why its been taking me a long while to charge the thing (I've only been plugging it into my comp at home and my lappy at work!), might have to plug the charger in and see how it fairs from that.
I would guess then that it makes the distinction by the presence of the data lines then? Ie if no data lines then it must be a charger so pull more power? Forgive my ignorance of electronics if this is wrong, it has been a long while since I covered this stuff at school!

How it exactly works i don't know, but can figure it out by asking a few of the electrical engineers that I know - but yes the phones are setup to draw more current from chargers vs. laptops(as per the specifications).
You will however not notice a huge improvement of charging time using the supplied SE charger as it only delivers 700mAh - I did notice a huge improvement(of course!) using the 1200mAh Nokia charger I had.
I might well have to invest in one of those and upgrade my desk (i'm very geeky and have built in trunking with ports for everything in my desk at home!)

I'm more interested in the distinction the phone makes for different kind of chargers. I was told that the LG micro USB-charger works with the X10 and it has 750mA. I just don't understand why it has to be a certain specification on the charger for the phone to accept charging. Other phones with similar hardware works with most chargers!
The Iphone charger was design in a way that it needed all 4 pins(1(+), D+, D-, 4(-)) to charge, whereas the normal phone will only need 2 pins(1 and 4). So my guess is that when we plug in our X10 it doesn't telly with the charger because of the use of the D+ and D- pin. Thus it won't respond.
Have anyone try using X10 charger to charge an iphone? I bet it won't work too.

You need to make a cable, short the pins 2,3 "Data + / -"
Most of the smartphone will detect the data signal, if no signal it's wont charge
I make a cable and use with Sanyo 5000Mah portable USB charger to charge my X1 and X10

i'm sure it's software related.
all the new generation devices needed new universal chargers.
all one year old chargers were obsolete when the new iPhone, iPod touch, nexus1 or milestone appeard.
now all the next generation of universal chargers won't work with the X10. (it's a sony !)
tested lots of them and the samsung spica charger was the only one that works with the X10. (no milestone-charger and forget about all artwizz.)
fyi the charger for the blackberry curve works fine with my x10. charges just as quick, or at least it wasn't noticably slower/quicker.
Has anyone been able to get their X10 to charge with any chargers apart from the supplied one, a Nokia one or using USB on a computer?
I have tried an iPod charger, a Belkin universal charger, a blackberry charger, an HTC charger and a blackberry in car charger but nothing works.
Is there a setting on the phone that I'm missing?
I've had 2 android devices and both of them have this same problem. When I'm charging the phone it makes typing a nightmare. Somehow it seems to throw something off. The only way to describe it is like it creates a lag. It doesn't matter what keyboard I use, what ROM I use (so far). My first device was an HTC Incredible and my current device is Galaxy S2. Never experienced this on Blackberry or Windows Phone 7. Anyone know how I can make this stop because I sure would like to be able to text and charge at the same time for once. Thanks a ton in advance!

I have this problem with my phone as well. Its gets pretty unresponsive while being charged. Another member told me it could be the charger thats causing this...as soon as i take it off the charger ..its fixed. So i don't mess with it anymore when charging.

What wall adapter/cord are you using
Aftermarket or other vendor chargers can produce some sort of frequency or oscillation that has a negative effect on the touch screen.
Try charging with the Samsung charger.
Same with "dirty" wall power - stock charger on a Sears inverter basically locked up my Infuse's screen and made it unusable.
Stock charger on any normal wall outlet was fine.
OEM charger straight from the wall for this Samsung. Doesn't matter what kind of charger (have several OEM Blackberry chargers and the output is the same), direct wall power, surge protector or car charger. Happens everywhere...my house, friend's, parent's...gotta be the phone or a combination of both. I found an app called Voltage Control but can't figure it out for nuthin' nor am I sure if it'll even help this. I'm one of those folks that sadly lives and breathes via this device and as Murphy's Law would have it, it seems I always need it the most when it's charging. I'm gonna research the crapple out of this and if I find a solution I'll certainly be back here to spread the word...

I have a number of iPod/iPad USB Wall Chargers around so was wondering if anyone uses or if these can be used to charge the Galaxy 5.0?

The port on the USB cable won't fit in the galaxy player if its the little plug that you can detach and attach then you can use them

If you're talking about an adapter that plugs into the wall and gives you a USB port (which you can plug another cable into), you can give it a try. It might not work or work well because of current limitations, etc., but you can try. However, the cable that you plug into your iPod/iPad cannot be plugged into your galaxy player, if that's what you're asking - Apple has it's own dock connector, which is incompatible with Micro-/Mini-USB (I forgot which it is, but it applies to both).
the "wall wart" as they call it has a USB output, any and all USB outputs will work as they ALL charge at 5 volts (usb standard), that said you will have to use the USB cable that came with the SGP 5.0 as Apple has there own proprietary connector. The question is how well they will work, as chargers can range from .5 amps to 1.2 amps (general USB chargers not apple specifically), I believe you need atleast a .7 amp to charge, higher amps means faster charging, lower means slower to possible not enough output to even charge, so you need to check the specs of each charger and see what there outputs are.
Charging adapters for iDevices will get detected as a USB port by Samsungs. It will charge, but it won't charge nearly as fast as the stock charger.
I don't think people got what you meant. Yeah. All wall chargers work with any USB.

the usb slot on the plug is just like any other usb so it can power anything if you have the right cable.

Yes you can use the "wall" charger --iPhone/iPod use a 5 watt charger. The iPad uses a 10 watt which is what I use to charge my player using the USB cord that came with the player.
I also use the "plug" that came with the player--it just takes an eternity to fully charge.
The reason why it takes forever to charge is because of the kernal that Samsung installed on it. If you haven't changed it, what I would do is disable the GPS and bluetooth and change the wi-fi sleep mode to when screen is off under the advanced selecton by hitting the menu key in your wifi and networks settings.

Apple A1299 on Galaxy Player 4.2 ?
Hello, my first post here and I hope I can reopen this thread safely.
I've just bought a Samsung Galaxy Player 4.2 from Amazon UK which comes with its own mains charger and USB cable.
I also have a spare Apple A1299 charger that my former flatmate used for his Ipod. When I connect the USB adaptor to this charger and the Galaxy is switched off, there's no indication that the battery is charging. At first I though it didn't work at all. If I switch the device on, it appears to be charging.
I've also tried this charger on a Philips MP3 player and here too, it doesn't show it's charging but it does indeed charge.
Can I have a clarification if this particular charger won't damage my Galaxy Player?

The charger that works is the one for iPad which doesn't use the same as iPhone.

Not true. Back in the day I used one to charge my iPod and it actually pulled power from my iPod since its not giving out enough power. So I had a power dead iPod the next day. Shouldn't happen but its good to note how much power it can give out. I don't think this is as a big a problem now but better be cautious.
My wife has a 3 month old Galaxy Mega 6.3 and it will not charge correctly. It will not change when it's on enough to keep it on. Last night I had her charge it while it was off and after 12 hours it was only at 48%. We have tried new chargers, new cords, taking the battery out for a while, nothing is working. Any ideas? It's completely stock, no root.
Hi .. make sure that your chargers output power is 2.0A don't use chargers with 1.0A or 0.7A output or it will charge slowly .. and try to use a short cable ..shorter is faster .. If this didn't help maybe the problem is with the battery it self buy a new one

Yeah, we used an oem charger and cable and a charger that puts out 5v and all the same charge rate
I think 5v is too much & dangerous for the phone maybe it'll ruin your battery

Hi..the original charger for the mega 6.3 is 5v with a 2.0A charging rate, can you test another battery from a friend to see if it is the battery.
I literally have never seen anyone with a mega besides her lol. My next plan was a new battery, but I didn't think a 3 month old phone should need one yet.

Maybe go to your carrier were you got the phone and explain what has happened and maybe they can give you a new battery or if it is a hardware problem..they can maybe give you a new phone.

To be sure to get fast charge with most Samsung smartphones, you need an original Samsung charger AND a fully connected (4 wire) USB cable.
Charger outputs 5.3 to 5.7V and pin 2 and pin 3 (data pins) are shortened together inside the charger to indicate the phone that he can draw fast charge current.
All my original Samsung wall chargers are rated only 1A. It doesn't mean that they can't output more current for a short time. I get fast charge every time.
If either your charger isn't an original with pins 2 & 3 shortened, or your cable has no data connections, you won't ever get fast charge. By example, if you try to use a powerful 2A or more iPad charger with your Mega, you won't get fast charge, just because the other world doesn't conform to USB
If you can, try an original Samsung wall charger with an original Samsung usb to micro usb cable.

If you want to see power of charging install app Galaxy Charging Current Lite.
Power of charging should be 1900 mA and I could get only 300 mA...

well before the s7 i had the s6 and i have to be honest it did some weird stuff, battery drained super fast over night ( arround 30%) capacitive buttons showed strange behavior ( pressing the button by itself) i disabled them and used Pie control for a while. This was with all kind of cable's/chargers.
Started using original charger and cable and the battery drain turned back to normal after a while and when i turned the capacitive buttons on again and stay worked again!
I'm not 100% sure this is because of the charger or cable but i guess they do make a difference

Edit: i also think other quality chargers are ok
I would imagine as long as they are quality chargers/cables you'll be fine, im using a blackberry charger along with samsung one and everything works fine.
You can usually tell is the usb cable is cheap when it can't fast charge the phone, they're also pretty thin.
Just don't use the cheap Chinese **** 5 pack for $2 from eBay and you should be fine.

Obviously cheap crappy dangerous chargers will not be good, but these rumours came from people who couldn't accept that Samsung messed up, didn't want to blame the phones/batteries, so blamed the owners instead
You have more chance of the charger failing than the battery if the charger is faulty/cheap, unless of course it is pushing too much juice into the phone, but I would hazard a guess the charging circuit would fail before it managed to set a battery on fire
Just find a cheap brand that's quality and stick with it. Anker Aukey CableMatters Mediabridge all seem good though the usb connector alwasy seems to get looser and looser. I've almost completely moved over to Qi because of it.
Get a cable and charger from a decent brand name company, and make sure that it's properly rated to the phone model you have. Any time you're using an overpowered or underpowered charging source it can have a negative effect on the battery.
I have a big 4 port Aukey charger that has Ai and QC2.0 ports on it. It is great! I use the cable that came with That charger and I travel with the samsung charger and cable.

Exactly. Get a quality 2A charger and a decent 20 or 22awg USB cable and you're good.
Buy that 49 cent 1 micrometer thick cable off eBay and you'll be hatin life.
While we're on the subject, there's apps that let you measure incoming charge current. I measured every cable I had in the house, one right after the other using the same power brick. Two of them wouldn't allow more than ~330mA charge current. Most others were 1.1A. Those two went right in the garbage.
In japan s7 do not come with charger so you can use any cable or charger
