No custom rom working on my galaxy s2 , running on android 2.3.5 xxki4 - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi ,
I installed many roms , cyanogenmod , miui, lightning rom
but no one is working , all stuck on boot screen
currently i have android 2.3.5 xxki4 rooted firmware
i tried every thing , wipe cache before installing rom and etc etc but no rom booting , all stucks on boot
please help

Wipe phone
Boot to recovery go to mounts and storage format cache data and system also format sd card but this will wipe sd card .
Phone will no longer boot remove battery then replace and boot to download mode .
Via Odin flash stock rom .
jje

What kernel are you using? Go into Download mode as jje said and flash a stock firmware, then flash CF root then flash away with custom roms.

Flash a stock kernel+rom with odin , flash a cf-root then use clockwordmod recovery ( enter CWM manager in apps drawer and boot to CWM )
-wipe data
-wipe cache
-install zip from internal sdcard
-DO NOT REBOOT ( at least if you want CyanogenMod )
-install zip from internal sdcard (again , due to a bug)
-reboot
report back here when you try it

This is for the international I9100:
Data/factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, format system, data and cache in mounts and storage. flash cm7 twice in a row without rebooting and flash google apps.Reboot and done
Enable usb-debugging first before flashing and backup you current rom and apps.

Maybe you have a I9100G, all the roms don't work.

[Q] Cognition rom installation

Hello,
I've installed the latest Cognition Rom. Before that I had DlevRom.
When I reboot my device it still runs the DlevRom animation. How do I remove it?
Also, in the Cognition installation notes it says that it does not contain some of the Samsung apps like the Social hub and Game hub, but after reboot it is still there. Why? I did Data/Cache/Delvik wipe and still it is there. Is there any way to remove all old data?
Thanks
Oren
Recovery Mounts and storage formate system data cache and if you want sd card .
Boot to download mode install stock rom install root install custom rom .
That will be a 100% wiped phone if you format sd card .
jje
Stock Rom
Where do I find stock Rom?
Should I also re-install the kernel?
Moving to a new Rom
So is it recommend to install stock rom and kernel and only then move to a new and different Rom?
No the recommendations are to follow the instructions in that roms post .
You wanted to wipe stuff if you format system cache data sd card the phone is empty no firmware no os no nothing .
jje
Moving to new Rom
I get that but I wanted to get rid from all the DlevRom boot animations etc' and it looks like the only way to do that is by flashing to stock rom and then to the desired Rom.
Two types of custom rom WIPE and NO WIPE its as simple as that .
jje
Problem
OK, so I played a bit and then restored to stock rom and kernel.
After that installed a new kernel 2.3.4 CF and then installed Cognition. Now it is stuck on the first boot up screen and nothing happens...
Wiped everything and installed again - nothing...
You wait on custom rom boot up screen 5/10 mins .
I would install stock KH3 rom via Odin and let it boot .
Root rom with CFroot KH3
Boot
Copy Cognition rom to sd card
boot to recovery
Advanced wipe dalvik cache
return wipe cache
Install zip cognition from sd card and wait for it to boot .
jje
Hope it will work
Trying to do that. Strange, it is stuck on the Samsung Galaxy opening screen (the first one - white) and nothing happens...
Hope it will work
Very strange - Cognition problem
Well, did as suggested:
Installed stock kerenl KH3 + Stock rom, then installed CF like here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1237495
Then, updated cognition after a full wipe and again, it is stuck on the first boot screen...

I have installed Cognition as just described no problem wiped it and installed KI3 stock followed by a custom rom .
|You could try removing external SD card if you have one .
jje
Maybe there is a misunderstanding.
Should I install Ki3 ROM? I installed kh3...
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
This is what i did .
Format sd card .
Wipe data factory reset ,
via Odin install stock KH3 from stock rom post bot and set up phone /
via Odin root from CWM and root post with KH3 v4.1 CWM root .
reboot check phone is rooted .
Copy Cognition rom to sd card .
Boot to recovery advanced wipe dalvik cache return wipe cache
install zip chose zip install wait reboot wait .
Cognition is KH3 not KI rom.
jje
Thankd.
In the mean time I installed lighting ROM and it looks good. Which ROM do you think is the best?

Cyanogenmod 7 Very Annoying Bootloop

So I bought my new galaxy s2 (i9100 int'l version) and i flashed a stock rom that matches my carrier and country (israel) and then i rooted it
by using CF-Root kernel, now i have it for over a month and i flashed many roms with success and then when i tried to flash cm 7 from stock i got into an endless bootloop.
now if you need to know how i flashed it so here you go:
flash stock rom (2.3.5) with ODIN
flash CF-Root kernel that matches my rom (KJ1)
move the official cm 7 (cm-7.2.0-galaxys2.zip) install file onto my internal memory
reboot into cwm recovery with 3 button combo
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
wipe delvik cache
install zip from internal SD TWICE just to be sure
and then when i reboot with the "reboot device" option i get stuck on the galaxy sii screen
note: after i flashed the zip twice i also tried to reboot straight into cwm from the advanced tab and it still got stuck in the bootloop.
also when im in the bootloop i cant get into cwm with 3 button combo but i can get into download mode and i have been reading that when a thing like this happens it means its a NAND rw corruption
so does it mean i can never acomplish successfull installation of cm 7 on my device?
If you would have corrupted nand rw, you couldn't flash stock firmware with success.
Why don't you try CM9/10?

can the problem be envolved with that fact that im flashing the rom from the internal sd card?
cause i saw some videos that people were installing cm 7 onto thier devices from the external sd and it worked for them.

what he is trying to say is that you should flash the kernel AFTER you flash your ROM
the ROM you chose is [CM10][Jellybro] i9100 Nightly Kangs, yes?
anyway..
here is what you should do
1. flash your rom
2. flash gapps for cm10
3. flash a kernel [an example of which is Dorimanx Kernel]
if you are still confused on some terms, please refer here
I hope this helps
EDIT:
you should root your phone first
You know, after flashing a new rom booting may take some more time, at least a few minutes. Have you been waiting enough time?
First, check md5sum of ROM [what Saywhatt wrote a few posts back]
a. If you are no longer in recovery modes then you can get a kernel [tar file] Flashing with Odin.
If your phone then starts normally, then flash the ROM you want through CWM.
*** wipe data / wipe cache / wipe Dalvik cache / format system in mounts and storage / flash ROM from sdcard***
b. If you can get into recovery mode, not flash with Odin, but do these same steps;
**** wipe data / wipe cache / wipe Dalvik cache / format system in mounts and storage / flash ROM from sdcard***
PS. If it fails in step a first flash stock ROM with Odin
sorry for my bad english

Install via CWM. Instructions can be found in CWM and ur ROM thread.
Sent from my frozen Penguin's Nexus 7 with frozen CM 10.2 using frozen Tapatalk 4.FORGOTTEN Pro
Flash a custom rom with cwm..
wipe your data/system first.
wipe catche
install from sd card (Flashable file must be store in root of your sdcard.)
wipe catche
wipe dalvik catche
Imp:
Make your currunt working rom backup before anything you do with your phone. it will save you.

go to this post and flash the stock firmware via odin.
for installing custom rom, you will need root and cwm
go to recovery mode
choose install zip from sd card
choose the cwm file
this will install the cwm.
now wipe data and cache
go to advanced menu and wipe dalvik cache
then go to choose zip from sdcaed and select the rom
please make sure that you are using a proper custom rom file meant for your phone.

And what does the op say?
"1.- Wipe data / factory reset (mandatory if you coming from STOCK OR 4.2.X version or another ROM)
2.- Install the Main ROM
3- install gapps
4.- When you're back on recovery go to Advanced
5.- Wipe Dalvik Cache
6.- Fix Permissions
7.- Wipe Cache Partition
8.- Reboot"
In stead of step 1 i would suggest:
Mounting /system, /data and /cache
Format /system, /data and /cache
Then proceed with step 2 etc...
Everything will be lost so make a back-up with titanium backup. (don't back-up/restore system apps)

okay.what you do is not enough . and as you mentioned , you need to reboot recovery(under advanced ) after you flash the compatible recovery .
I recommend ..
1) flash compatible recovery ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2546597 ) and reboot recovery
2)wipe data
3)wipe cache
4)wipe dalvik cache(in advanced )
5)go to mounts and storage and format system , data , cache
6) flash the rom and compatible gapps and leave the rom after flashing for like 10 minutes ( leave it in the recovery , untouched )
7) after you are back , reboot system and let the rom boot up .
8) after it boots up and you set it up ( like setting time , date , account ) leave the rom untouched again .. say for an overnight so that it gets the time to settle .. the next day .. start customizing and installing apps like you did .
P.S. : I would recommend not to flash a custom kernel as of yet as kernels are in beta stages as of now
All the best !
