[Q] tnt lite 4.40 status bar - G Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just flashed my gtablet over to tnt lite 4.40 so I could play pvz. I did the market fix, but not everything is there. So far I've noticed that adw launcher is the only thing missing (I haven't looked for everything). Also, when I go into an app with a white background (e.g. the gmail app), the entire status/notification bar is white and I can't see anything (e.g. the time, etc).
Is there a way to fix these 2 problems?

I see the ADW launcher in Market. I have TNT Lite 4.4 too.
Try the build.prop olympus fix for Market.
I use Launcher Pro and have the same problem with gmail. I think it
is due to background color of app being the same as foreground color
of launcher. I dont see a way in Launcher Pro of setting the font color.
Maybe Launcher Pro Plus with a different theme would do it. Some apps
like K9 mail can change the background color too. Gmail cant.
However it does not bother me, usually going to settings in the app
like gmail, gives the time, as the settings are usually dark background.

OK, thanks. I'll try the olympus fix. Do you know if there's a way to change the status/notification bar so that it's not transparent?

Modding your framework.rez files might work.

Where is the framework.rez?

It should be in system/framework
and its the Framework-rez.apk.
Idk if that's really what you'd need to use but you could always post up in the ROMs designated forum and ask the Dev.
Framework works for most theming at least on devices I have used.

And it has happened.. Good bye Launcherproplus

Didn't think the day would be here but with ADW EX Launcher I am not looking back. Every once in a while i will load a new launcher to see what is out there and I have always gone back to LPP.... This time it is different.
ADW Ex features the following...
-faster
-less buggy - whenever loading a new app i would have to restart lpp to see it in app draw. LPP would also get stuck in a funny view when going from landscape to portrait.
-the ability to have my livewallpaper as the drawer background with options to change font color of icons.
-multiple draw options
- swipe gestures, especially to bring up hidden dock bar that holds 7 icons.
-super large icons for the main dock bar
-just runs better and I believe takes up less memory then LPP.
Found an app, which i think is a rip off of LPP, it is called Colorize widgets, and it basically has all the LPP widgets, for all other launchers. With this I have all but one function missing from LPP...
Only thing missing is scrolling main dock to add more icons, and swipe gestures on dock icons to open up other applications.
I had a separate scroll dock in LPP for important direct dial icons... Instead I loaded folder organizer and made a special label with those contacts. Then I just put the label icon in my main dock and set it to LIST view with ICON and TEXT. So now when I click on the icon i get a nice big list to click on to call my important contacts.
There are still a few bugs with ADW especially with the Streak, but they will probably be ironed out in the next few days because it effects other larger devices...
not sure what is taking Fredrico C to come out with better features or that new re-written Launcherpro.. but this is now my primary option.
Its a cat and mouse game between the two giant launchers
Same thing happened with me after discovering ADW Ex!! Installed it, loved it and it was bye bye Launcher Pro Plus!! The only thing I really miss about LPP are the LP Widgets and the scrolling dock. Colorize is nice, but I still prefer the LP widgets over it.
Scrolling main dock and gesture shortcut dock icons for the win....
I wont be going back. I have found some alternatives that work for me to compensate.

I had tried the ADW free before, and I still went back to LPP. In fact, I have tried many of the free launchers out there, and LPP is the only one I found that I wanted to pay for. I still go back to it.
I haven't tried the pay version of ADW yet. How big are the differences between ADW free and pay?
My favorite thing in LP is being able to hide things from the drawer, such as things i have on my home screens. I tried adw and didnt see anywhere to do the same.

OK, so there is a way to hide apps in the drawer. Maybe this weekend I will go thru and set it all up and give it some fair time in trial.

If you still didn't try Go Launcher, Do it!
It has most of the ADW and LPP features and then some, for free.
Love the ability to organize app drawer in folders and the built-in task killer and history.
I am skeptical about the go team. Who are they and how do they make money? Are they chinese spies stealing data from our phones?

Are there a sticky thread or any thread that give the most useful apps for the Dell Streak? Have looked but didn't find any - maybe I missed?
Or you could try VLTlauncher... it's still in beta, but that doesn't matter cuz it's free and downloadable if you search for it within XDA. VLTlauncher is a launcher based on ADWlauncher Ex optimised for the Streak.

Not for streak... for tablets.
It has been over a week on adw and I fully uninstalled launcherpro.. totally stoked.

So these launchers seem to be more for editable drawer, correct? Ive got go, pro launcher, and adw and to me they feel less snappy than zeam. Most of the themes also seem to be icon packs more than anything. None of the themes I tried really feel to be extensively customized to feel different than stock launcher theme. Any suggestions for custom themes?

[Q] Is there a widget removal app?

I've been using Zeam 2.8.8 as my desktop launcher and think it's great for the Nook Touch, simple, fast. I am having a problem when trying to remove large widgets, i.e 4x2, 2x3. I long press the widget and drag it to the trash can, I'm not that stupid, but when it's in the right spot the widget and trash can are supposed to both turn red. Problem is on a grayscale like Nook there is no visiable change in color. Is there an app I can use to remove the widget? I've been looking for an app the past three days but not lucky. I also am using ES File manager which allow sys access. Is the widget listed somewhere in the system files so I can delete it?
Please don't suggest I update to a new OS, it's not possible. The Nook Touch runs on Android 2.1. While people are cooking custom ROMS nothing's out yet.
Maybe you should just try a different launcher
I like GO-Launcher, much better than my original Sense 3.0 for example..

The widget related data is specific to launcher so you can either try new popular launchers like GO launcher, launcher pro, ADW launcher which are prettu stable and user friendly.
Or else if you want to stick to your older launcher then in that case you can clear data for launcher application. (Goto setting - application - manage application and search for your launcher application. Open it and clear data)
sorry I don't know how to remove specifically a single widget from launcher data. By clearing data all user defined shortcuts and widgets will be removed. (Launcher Reset)
Enjoy!!

I like Go Launcher and would use it, in fact that is the launcher included on the Nook Touch rooting file, but when looking in the app drawer the font is too big and I can't see the app name. The funny part is when looking at the recent app tab and close app tab I don't have that problem.

[Q] How to remove the blue line on bottom of the status bar...

...but keep the statusbar itself? (... on ICS 4.0.3) does anybody know?
....pics?
TF201 | XDA Premium
like on this screenshots
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21008851&postcount=102
some attachments to explain what I mean...
hmm, whats your build?
I got 9.4.2.11.1, and I don't have that bar at all.
I have that blue bar. I thought that was an ICS thing considering it is the exact same shade of blue ad part of ICS theme.
Why remove it? Looks really pretty to me... But, you could probably try to edit the framework-res.apk or launcher.apk.

That doesn't look like the default launcher.

I don't think the Transformer Prime has custom Roms yet?
Least none that I have heard of...
That is ADW EX
yeah i'm still not sure i understand...OP, i still don't see a blue bar in the screenshot from the link you posted or the screenshots you posted in this thread. I see a blue bar in the first screenshot, but i dont see anything where i would expect it to be in the second shot.
TF201 | XDA Premium
Yep, he's referring to ADW EX launcher. I have the same issue with that launcher. I don't want to hide the status bar, but I want that blue line gone. That issue and the auto wallpaper cropping problem with ADW are the reasons I went back to the stock launcher.
Maybe you should ask the ADW devs how to remove it.
Greetings,
KBanause
...this is what i am going to do.... (ask the devs) ... and yes, i got AWDlauncherEX
@tdrussel: the link is only for showing what i like it to be... i didnt realize at first, that the "blue line" is part of ADW.... so i was wondering...
those two screenshots are showing what i got, and how it should be...
I´ll tell you, when i solved the "problem"....
I could be totally wrong, but it appears to be a part of ICS, not adw. Other app such as settings, astro, root explorer etc. all have that blue line across the top. Probably something that would have to be altered in framework.

[Q] Alpha 2 ics problems

Im really liking the rom but i have a couple of problems:
1)The messaging app notifications dont work for some reason. I do not get a little icon on the messaging icon, or a notification in the status bar, nor do i get a vibration or ringtone. I have made sure the notification is checked in settings.
2)Not really a problem but im assuming this rom doesnt support bln..?
3)I know this has been asked many times but screen size for launchers. Im using apex launchers and currently i cannot put any widgets. I have heard different replys and dont know what i should do. I havent messed with my dpi. Should i change dpi, or what should i change grid size to?
4)S-pen optimized apps are not compatible? I dont understand why apps specifically made to be used with the s pen would not be compatible with the note. For example in samsung apps i look at the spen apps and they dont work. Click on omni sketch or zen brush and it says incompatible?
Thanks!
Apex
I use Chomp SMS but i was getting notifications up top of messages through the default messaging app with no problem, just not badges, which I have grown to dislike coming from iOS.
Apex works just fine for me, how are you adding widgets? through a long press on on the desktop of through widgets in the app drawer? Widgets from the app drawer require APEX to be a system/app not a data/app. I also have Apex set to 7x7 and worked previously on 5x6 as well.
As for S-Pen apps I would imagine its because they haven't been released with ICS Support since this is an ahead of schedule leak, I'm not entirely sure.
i don't think bln has support on this rom yet but I'm not entirely sure.
I got my notification working now. And yeah I'm trying to add widgets through the app drawer. What do you mean apex launcher has to be a system app? How would I go about doing that? Also what grid size do you recommend? Ah I guess I can understand why the spend apps do not work well hopefully somebody can fix it soon. Yeah I'm pretty sure you need a kernel for bln which I don't think we'll get until the actual ics release.

Apexlauncher.apk has to be moved with root explorer or es file explorer in a rw state, the apk has to be moved to the system/app folder and reboot. Im using 7 tall x 6 wide grid and really liking it, and yes unless da_g uses the kernel in the leak to rework a custom kernel and add bln, we'll have to wait til the official kernel and ics is out and Im sure he'll use that to make us an overclocking kernel with bln support.

Go into the settings menu in play store app. There is an option to automatically add what you download to your home screen, just un-tick it.

In the Google Store.
It is a Pay App
At least post a link then. I don't seem to be able to find it.
I would love a black theme too, at least a theme where the settings are also black (like the walkman settings). Can't find it anywhere.. Also tried modifying the stock themes but i'm a complete noob..
I recommend Existenz. You're into some heavy modding here, it's not something a little theme can do.
Not heavy modding, just change the background of the settings menu's. Seems a little bit silly, but I would really like it. Most themes are beautiful but the settings page is just so ugly. On Sony devices, this should just be a jpg or png file change in the theme apk. It won't work because I don't know where to get framework-res
