Camera Modes Update - HTC Titan

Did anyone get the camera modes update to version 1.5? Any idea of what it does? I really hope the app will put more effort into straightening the pictures on its own like Microsofts photosynth app. The panorama mode on the titan requires the user to line up the photos which sometimes doesn't turn out well haha

Yeah I got it, but I have no idea what it does.
Speaking of the market, was the ATT section missing from the market for a day, or was that just my problem?

Seems to be a bug fix or performance update to me. Don't notice anything different. My pictures are still grainy!

Today the second update of the ROM has been released too.
HTC_Europe_2.01.401.04_Radio_16.23.03.17_ 16.27.00.23
New Bootloader from the version 1.9.160015.3 (132193) to 2.1.160015.3(133962),New Radio(GSM,WIFI,etc) from the version 16.23.02.09_A_16.24.00.23U to 16.23.03.17_16.27.00.23U

Speaking of Microsofts photosynth, why the heck is there a iPhone Photosynth app but not one for WP7?

It's to do with the APIs not being available at the time in WP7 so they couldn't write it for WP7 but could for iPhone. They're planning on bringing it to WP7 as soon as the APIs are available. Whether they are now mango is out, I don't know.

Microsoft Officially Releases Windows 6.1

I found this site http://www.pocket-lint.co.uk/news/news.phtml/13612/14636/windows-mobile-61-coming-april.phtml
It states that Windows Mobile 6 will officially be released. I know we have had WM6.1 for a while, but maybe when it comes out we can make a kitchen for it ( if it is a New and Much improved) This possibly can fix the bugs that we encountered. And since it is officially released, any bugs found can be reported to microsoft for (service and repair) type of incidents.
Maybe?
yeah engadget reaffirmed this in a post yesterday. but afaik, the version of WM 6.1 that we have now in DCDs rom and others is the official version. I dont think that the retail 6.1 will be any different
It is likely that they have made a diffrent build by now. I have seen screen shots of phones such as the xperia and others with newer builds.
If this is true then maybe new features are introduced (such as the deepfish browser), or even some fixes for bugs that we have already.
i thought that deepfish had been scrapped. ms didnt want to spend the money in server resources. xperia is on 6.1 no doubt, but i didnt know about the version number. i dont know. for sure there might be a few tweaks.
just outta curiosity, i know the stock roms use windows update. would cooking that into a rom not work for reg updates? i mean would MS see it as a non-legit version of windows?

Even if we don't get deepfish which I hope we do, I'm sure that they might have improved on some PIE issues.
But about MS updates that is another good reason to have an officially released copy. (our versions don't have it -- well mine doesn't)That way we wont have to fear of getting any updates through MS or even to call them or email them for support. It will all be legit.
no2chem has the latest build in his rom.
dcd's build in 3.0.1 is rtm. there is another build out there i know of, whether it is the same build as the "official release" i'm not sure, have to look it up. either way, i'm sure dcd knows and is working on another kitchen with the latest build.
i hope so, i havnt flashed my phone in 4 days, im getting trigger happy
I you look at this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=379769&page=2 DCD said he is running 19202.1.0.0 build. His latest Kitchen uses Build 19199.1.0.0. He didn't mention any changes in builds though. Perhaps he will release a new ROM and kitchen off the build he's using.

Do you think the 6.1 update from M$ will be available through the Windows Update feature? I have never gotten any updates through that as of yet.
Or are we going to have to wait for Veriz on to approve it for another 6 months....

From what I understand of the WU update application, it can't push an entire firmware. Just individual files in the event of a major problem, like a security issue. Even though the feature is there, they have never pushed any updates to it.
every time i see a website regarding the official wm6.1 the screen shots the provided are completely different than the version of 6.1 i am running (dcd's 3.0.1 wm6.1 build 19199.1.0.0) including the link provide in post #1. today screen is different and the start menu is at the bottom as a soft key. anyone else notice this?

Knowing HTC and their history with upgrades I wouldn't bet on it. Personally I suspect that the most recent upgrade we got will be the last official one. If I had to guess, I'd say HTC will announce some kind of new phone for Sprint this year.

UPDATE
Microsoft Officially will release WM6.1 on the SPRINT MOGUL
according to Engadgetmobile http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2008/04/01/microsoft-announces-windows-mobile-6-1-device-upgrades/
So this might mean we can supply the TITAN community with the official GPS / Rev. A ROM & an official WM6.1 ROM ( with possible bug fixes)
Also MANILLA gets official on WM6.1
Check out : http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2008/03/28/htcs-manilla-gets-screenshotted/
We might also be able to integrate this.

2.1 update now at the end of October

Looks like the update's been pushed back by a month
http://blogs.sonyericsson.com/products/2010/09/23/update-on-updates/
But at least they list what the update will actually contain:
Xperia X10 mini and X10 mini pro:
Improved Bluetooth functionality with support for sending and receiving pictures, contacts and more
New backup and restore application with extended content back up
Automatic synchronization of your contact pictures between Facebook and your phone book
Improved ways of handling pictures, audio, text and numbers in your messages
Upgrade of the Android platform to Android platform 2.1

I hope you can turn off the facebook photo syncing - I really don't want pictures of people's cats, babies and favourite movie stars as their contact pictures when I've already picked photos for them.
I am sad
Unbelievable.
The comments on the blog page are pretty funny though!
Hundreds of people crying about never buying a SE again
To be honest the 2.1 update doesn't really do much for these phones. However it is obvious that SE didn't give too much attention to the fact that using Android meant that their timeplans would be compared against those of many other Android licensors. Also I think they underestimated that a large part of the Android community is made of geeks. They are used to selling phones to people who don't even know what an operating system is.
In reality this delay means almost nothing but it's a PR disaster.

Totally agree with you !
lol - for undemanding users, Apple have sewn up that segment of smartphone users. Maybe RIM too. Symbian.. are they smartphones/will they be around much longer?
But Windows & Android require more maintenance. As a SE owner for the last 5? years, I can attest to their serial ability to miss deadlines.
However, this is new for them, the need to sew on their interface to a constantly evolving OS. So expect more missed deadlines, and slow adoption of 2.2
But I can't say I'm surprised...
I am not an Android expert but if that GUI stuff they have done is so difficult to port from 1.6 to 2.1 then they must have taken very poor decisions when developing the software. Look at the Android Market: 95% of the applications will run on any version from 1.6 to 2.2 without even the need to recompile the code.

Actually theres a few "geeks" in the SE JAVA community side as well, that like modding their phones so it looks like its an android (and thats just for starters )
Over here I still haven't got the previous update, 1.2-whatever, so I'm not holding my breath any way
Pfff
Pfff My unbranded HTC Hero had eclair (android 2.1) installed almost a year ago. And yes also HTC had official problems with release dates for 2.1.
I,m disappointed that SE also shifts up their 2.1 update. but the lack of custom Roms (think it's SE's popularity. Wil revert me back to HTC again as soon as I buy a new phone again.
Yes this is a big disappointment. When i compare my previous HTC Windows phone, the updates were quicker, and also the custom roms made things alot more interesting. I will be buying Android again, but not from SE.
the most of other android smartphone has already 2.1 or 2.2, in december gingerbread will be realesed and so SE 2.1 will be outdated..
SE really disappointed me..

Updates were quicker?? I had 2 WM phones, a Prophet and my current X1, and NO updates were forthcoming. I was saved only by the excellent work of the cooks here.
I like my X10 Mini even with 1.6.
It runs faster and is more stable than my Galaxy S with 2.1.
Maybe we are overcrying this release delay. Our phone is not unusable, other companies are delaying even more. I have seen in the blogs people crying like they have an non-usable phone. The only real problem is the Sim issue that in some countries they have adresses in some others not.
In reality our community want just to change firmware and this is why we are here in xda.
I am also annoyed, I am also willing to update my firmware every month...but for this we need the support of our chefs.
By the way i understand that a SW planning can deviate; in our company we have just postponed a release by one month.
I agree that the communication was bad, they could even have released an interim version for us the geek.
This is just MHO
Sent from my U20i using XDA App
What features are you missing right now? I think the x10 can do all i need it too with 1.6.
Hello XDA community!
My account is new but I have viewed this forum up to 2 weeks by now. Also I'm a new owner of X10 mini. And I think it is almost great phone, nice camera, good video quality for little phone and I can make calls and sms. Compared to my old E51 this phone rocks! To me those 2.1's and 1.6's are just a numbers. I can do everything I want to do and I don't miss anything. No lag etc. I don't get why, just why are people flaming SE...Yes I know it was a mistake to promise something what they can't to. Well I'm also waiting for update, but I'm not so curious about it.
Maybe my english is not so good as it should be but I think that you understand my text.
Regards,
wiilweer

[Q] IPhone OS

Hi...
As you see, it is possible to flash the HD2 with Android, Bada and WP7.. but is it also possible to flash the IPhone Os on the HD2? This would be great!
mfg
kvn
No and for 99,99 % it won't be possible.
theres already a thread for this... And is it possible... It depends how you ask it.... THe HD2 is powerful enough to run it but since iOS is a closed operating system theres no real way of creating drivers and such for it.. Seeing as its only ment to run on the Iphone/iPod and iTouch there all very similar to each other while the HD2 is not
hmm if the hd2 is powerfull enough... there must be any way to flash the iOS =). I belive in the chine hackers =)..
hakuchi18v what do you think is the best OS for the hd2?

Android and WP7 both work fine...
Android has a better support base with the HD2 since everything works right after it is installed while WP7 works but you have to activate it to use the live services unless you side load everything and at some point that becomes a nuisance..
I switch between WP7 and Android... To me android has the benefit of the amount of apps that are available and they have more quality and unique apps compared to WP7 panoramic apps that gets boring real quick.. Same layout just different name and content...
If iOS was running on the HD2 ill use it as long as you can use all the normal functions like on an iPhone.. Probably even use it as the preferred OS on it
But it won't and for now ill keep switching between android and wp7
how is it possible to aktivate ph7 on the hd2? Oo... i had it on my hd2 but i cant use the appstore... so switched back to android....
Ok but witch android rom do u use?
You need to get an activation key from Microsoft once its activated you have all the live services including the market available to you....
as for the Android rom I'm using the gingerbread asop... Its a vanilla rom.. Without all the crapware some of the other ones have...
and how can i get an activation code?? And can i use them with the cracked wp7 version? Oo...
Can you give me a link to the rom u use?

To get the activation code you have to call Microsoft and tell them that you bought and HTC windows Phone and that its asking for an activation key every time you try to sign into Windows Live.... Some are saying that they're asking for an IMEI number and that they give them their HD2's and they give them the Activation Key while others say they arent giving them... SO it really depends on the person your talking to. but if at first you don't succeed try try again and try some more.. at some point some body will be more then willing

You know the Androids big Problem? I heard a lot about the weak security.
I dont know how much safety WP or Linux can provide, but Android seems to be very easy to hack and run spyware and something on it.
Yeah at the moment we can laugh about it, but in a few years we will cry, it won't be funny when a virus sents 1000 sms to your contacts and you have to pay it...

Folio maybe getting an OC upgrade to 1.5Ghz

found this thread in the XOOM area.
as it has a much wider public forum, it seems they move alot faster on that front but as long as we're on XDA, and sharing is important, the files needed to change the kernel, is included, so those capable of compiling the kernel, can implement this patch?
here is the link to the thread
i will look at it the next days, but i don't know if i can fix it, but lets see..
at least now we know its possible
Sounds cool, but after a long angry birds session or watching a flash video online, my tablet gets quite warm already, I wonder what the increased heat from that extra ½ GHz will do to the components in the long run.
I guess you could use the extra power on-demand though.
This looks very interesting. I'll follow the progress. Since you're in the Xoom-area of XDA, what's the ETA on Honeycomb on the Folio?
Btw, you´re the man Dexter. Without you the Folio-development would be stone dead.
This is interesting as a possible capability, but what is the need ?
Just to demonstrate it is possible and that is all ?
IMHO I would focus on eliminating the bugs and developing more stable custom roms, on either existing froyo or incoming honeycomb
Still quite pissed off with folio sudden crashes/hangs ups and hoping this is not hardware issue....
No offend people
Ready to test the roms as long as rollback to previous or stock firmware possible

if a company of 10000+ employees is incapable of fixing the issue, im not really sure anyone has the time or full awareness of the complexitity of the problems in folio100.. so lets agree its a hardware fault until solved..
In my experience, in such companies it is sometime LOT more difficult to get a proper person employed to do the job, cause they are like big whales in respect of making a fast and sharp move and doing simple changes becomes not so simple for them in this case.....
Otherwise you(or someone from XDA) should have already be working as a lead tester/developer for Toshiba at least remotely or part time....am I wrong
btw, is there a e-mail or public forum for Toshiba with at least someone from toshiba android development team appearing and answering questions ?
what e-mail address can be used for that ?

we got it .. but its not compatible in any way for now..
wrong dalvik (we got API 8, needs API 10), wrong kernel, no library support and no hardware drivers adapted...
apps natively written for api10 for now, and no deodex options available..
so...it will take time before we see a working 3.0 ..
for now, we utilize their findings and see if it helps us on other tegra2 platforms..
We will be fine with 2.X for a while... The important thing in my perspective is to have the apps running. Android 3.0 is still in it's early days, and will see a lot more improvements in the future.
I still believe that the important thing is content, not android version "per si"

Kanske, men det stod faktiskt Folio 100. Den nya Folion skall väl heta 200 eller något helt annat och varför skulle den inte ha gapps ?
Vore förstås härligt om de släppte om 100an med 3.0 som vi kan använda.
Possibly, but it did say Folio 100. The new Folio is supposed to be 200 or some unrelated name and why should it not have gapps ?
Would be lovely if the rereleased the 100 with Honeycomb and it worked with our machine !
Folio100 does not fullfill then android 3.0 requirements. for front/rear camera, 1200x800 resolution and modem.
Folio200 will have all that, but if UK articles, poorly written, do write still remain without somewhere they got that story? since the 200 edition WILL have it all.
i don't think Nvidia releases another SDK without full "Android experience" support to vendors of hardware designs. so its likely to be an internal thing, that toshiba somehow got it working, If they did, that is.

Hi and happy new year !
I'm searching to change Rom of Altek Leo. This phone has 14mpx and the original Rom has problem of performance (only 800Mhz processor), battery autonomy (8 hours with regular uses).

hey, I see you want to improve the performance of your phone. they may not have a rom but there are many ways to do so. on the forum.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1050812
. Also I saw a link that says they may actually come out with a new phone all together, with Android 2.2 . Do you know if this is true. I emailed Altek, but they are taking forever to respond. There is a digidata link at the bottom of this link, under the youtube vid.
http://www.unwiredview.com/2011/03/10/alteks-14mp-android-phone-to-be-available-this-month/
Thanks but I make all tutorial in Altek Leo Section. Moreover, Altek announced that update in 2.2 or 2.3 is impossible due the processor that's why I'm searching a Custom Rom.
maybe altek leo will run android 2.3?

http://www.digitalcamerainfo.com/content/Polaroid-SC1630-Smart-Camera-First-Impressions-Review.htm
Ease of Use
This is, first and foremost, an Android device. At startup, it opens up to the regular menu or dashboard or whatever it’s called—_not_ the camera app. With the default camera app open, it’s works like a basic, straightforward point-and-shoot. The touchscreen is actually pretty responsive for something that feels so cheaply built, so the interface doesn’t suffer. And since it’s linked to the Android app store, users can download any photo app of their choosing, which opens up tons of possibilities. Don’t like the interface? Download a new one.
The pre-production model we saw was running Android 2.3. We’d guess that it’ll ship in April with something more like version 3.1. The latest version—4.0—would be a stretch for an in-between product like this, since most proper phones and tablets don’t even run it yet.
Altek Leo won't be upgated to android 2.3
I emailed Altek and asked about the Polaroid samrtphone which looks the same as the Alte A14 Leo. They replied that the phone has similar outline/cosmetics but the electical parts are different - the phone will stay with 2.1
upgrade to 2.2
I also checked out the Polaroid . The only real difference that I have seen appears to be the 16mp camera, i doubt it's a real 16mp just as the altek leo isn't a real 14mp. anyway the biggest change i think is the 512mb rom and 512 ram. that would be handy. Anyhow, after a whole bunch of research on every english forum i could find.. i got fed up. and started looking at chinese forums.. thank u google translate. apparently some dude in china upgraded to 2.2 using an htc 2.2 rom. one even claimed he got 2.3 . but thats not verified. check the link. and tell me what you think u guys. .. u might want to use google translate.

How Do I Upgrade to 2.2?
I didn't understand ho to update to 2.2.
Did they modified the HTC rom? where can I download it? How do I Install it?
no update available for the Leo
Just as the SE Satio was dropped six months after it was released, it felt like another deja vu experience with the Altek Leo. Don't get me wrong, I like the phone and it's great as a camera with its optical zoom. As for system updates, there hasn't been one in a long time, and I've noticed at the Altek website, that they haven't been developing a new product to supersede the Leo. I guess because of the brand name, not many consumers wanted to take the plunge in purchasing this relatively unknown cell phone.
When I had initially purchased this phone from an eBay seller, I had asked him about an Android update and he replied that it was not possible. So, when I read about upgrades, I was quite skeptical about it. Still, I like this phone and will keep it until it has a complete breakdown...or is dropped.
Screen protectors are few and far to find for this phone.
Polaroid should update it's video recording quality to 1080p, then people will be interested in this phone.
