[Q] Android Novice with a new 7" tablet please help! - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone.
After a long thinking I finally got an adroid device (being a proud owner of an iPad 2) I did move towards a NEC EV2 Dual Core A9 Cortex 1ghz and I just received my device bought from a Chinese dealer and so far I'm impressed about the manufacturing and design LINK and the tablet performances, the only dropdown is that the market onboard does not seems giving me much out of it, the OS onboard the Froyo 2.2 but almost anything is giving me headache with a not compatible device for such application, the user manual is stating 708 and the Market is telling me that the name of the device is Broncho 708A (?) is there a way to improve such situation? is this tablet a Renesas one? I wrote the dealr about contacting the manufacturer for an upgrade to Gingerbread IF this update would benefit from installing applications, any alternative to the Android market? HELP? Thank you

Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A

Hello,
I bought the same tablet in the same web. But my problem is even bigger...
My tablet didn't connect to internet (even though I had correctly configured APN), volume went up and down without touching any key, and the rear camera didn't work.
I contacted the dealer and they asked me to perform factory data reset from the recovery menu.
I did it and anything was solved. Now, not only I have the same problems as I did before, but also, my IMEI has dissapeared.
Please, I need help. It seems like the dealer is not going to solve it. I have sent some emails, but still no answer.

Wintec Filemate 7 Inch Tablet questions - E201U Model

I just picked up a Wintec Filemate Identity 7 inch tablet with Froyo 2.2 installed on it. I have rooted the device using Z4root. I am now trying to figure out if there are any Gingerbread roms that I could install on this tablet. Any information you guys/gals may have would be great, if you could share.
I have searched all over the Internet trying to find any roms, including all over XDA-Developers, and I am not finding to much at all.
Would this tablet be the same as the Z9 Blade? I know its the same as the Enspert Identity tablet. The version I have is not the Light, its the regular model with the full Arm Cortex A8 1 ghz processor.
Thanks,
Bryan
Any body got any ideas on this?
I'm looking for the same thing. I'm also rooted with z4root and haven't been able to find a single piece of anything as far as development on this device. I'll favorite this thread and post any info i find. If you find anything post it here. I'm sure there are plenty of others out there looking for the same thing. This is a really nice device and i got it from Walmart for less than $200. I hope some of my favorite devs pic this one up. Have you figured out anything as far as a custom recovery for this device?

Everywhere i look it says it's a Samsung capacitive based tablet. Does this mean you can flash clockworkmod recovery in ROM manager under Samsung capacitive? I'm scared to try it. Let me know if you do.

I've got a Wintec Filemate coming for the wife and would be interested to know the same thing. This tablet is probably not popular enough for someone to write a ROM for it.
I hope it grows in popularity. It should, it's incredibly smooth and such good quality for the price. I've had quite a few tablets from Walmart and took them all back because of lag and freezing issues. I was really surprised when i got this one and it functioned so well. We need someone to donate one to one of these good devs on here. I wish i had them means to do it.

Thanks for the root guide. Are there any ROMs that can be loaded on this device?
Just poking in to say that I, as well, own this device and am curious if there's a Gingerbread rom somewhere out there for it. The device is advertised as being "2.3 ready" so if anybody knows exactly how to make that happen, I and the other people and the thread would be very grateful.
RE: Roms
I searched high and low and no roms or even recovery is available for the Filemate Identity tab.
These e201u tablets are actually made by Enspert out of Korea. Wintec just puts a sticker over the Enspert name and resells them at a higher price. I bought 4 of them as xmas gifts for a steal at $129 each (on black Friday) from dynamism.com. Not a bad tablet at all once it's rooted. Nice to see others feel the same way. It would be sweet if a new rom could be made as they are running Froyo 2.2. The identitytab.com site has the kernel.tar and e201.img file available if that would help anyone out there.
nothing yet anyone??

[Q] Tablet preloaded with Cyanogenmod

Got a cheap tablet for Christmas called a Zenithink E98. Came in a box labeled SuperPad IV. It came preloaded with a chopped version of Cyanogenmod on it but I havent been able to find out much about it. And yes I mean it came out of the box with Cyanogenmod. Anyone know about this tablet or if I can update it to a better quality version of Cyanogen? Havent found hardly anything out on this at all.
Figure I will post the manufacturers website, put this post up to the top and hope someone will take an interest lol. Cannot figure this dang tablet other than i have it rooted. And if anyone does know a little about this tablet can you help em figure out why 3rd party markets think its an iPad and wont let me download anything, for example GetJar.com
www.zenithink.com
Go into the browser settings and change it from IPAD to FLASH (ANDROID)

Rom request (Asus Memo pad 10 -me102a)

Hi everyone... Is someone able to build a cm or something else like omni, pac or paranoid for this device: Asus MeMo Pad 10.1 [Me 102a] with 1.6 GHz quadcore [rk101]
Thanks for your help and replies...

i think you should look for a topic about your pad in the developing topics, how I wish I could have a cm9 on lg l3 e405
Thats the Problem... There is no topic about this pad ... and not listed in cyanogen(get cm) only memo pad from asus that is listed , is the 10 FHD with dualcore.... But it has different Hardware
Looking for Root for ASUS_MeMO_Pad_10_ME102A
I want to install a VNC server so I can remote into the tablet and help my mom out. The ME102A is a steal at $200 for Qaud core 1.6Ghz it seems to perform pretty well for a $200 10.1. So with Stock 4.2.2 I'd like to get root. I searched and can't find any alternative ROMs or root instructions. A lot for the MeMO Pad 7. There isn't any forum for it I guess - can't understand why ...
Sure this pad has really good performance and batterylife is on heavy use also fine... I havn't test the 3d performance, but i think it's not the first priority on such a big pad... Streaming and browsing arround i'm on 9 hours of battery... With round about 6 hours of screen-on-time... I think it's good enough for this pad .. I hope someone of the devs reading this and will bring up some nice Roms..

This pad is not listed on Asus the site. I registered my device and have access to the kernel code, if needed.

Found directions on Youtube, by searching ME102a root. You have to use a chinese root tool. Disclaimer: I did not try this and I did not post the video, try at your own risk.
I User this tool for rooting , it works... my pad is succsessful rooted... but there is no clockworkmod-recovery to find
This tablet has reached some really good prices lately. Lets spark up some dev interest.
Noticed someone has tried to drum up some interest on transformer forums under the ME301T section but no responses yet (can't post link b/c still noob)
How can i make a systemdump from the pad? Does it work on Windows or must i take Linux(ubuntu)?
I want try to build my own custom Rom...

Edit...
Go to the about in the settings. From there, go to the Software information, and keep hitting the build number until it starts to count down. This unlocks the developer menu, which you need to enable usb debug (ADB).
Asus ME102a (k00F)
Bumping. If you believe the bench-marking apps it ou-tperforms the Galaxy Tab 10.1 for $100 less. It may be this "Rockchip" processor that's holding it back. Sure would love to see some XDA hero succeed where CM has failed.
:good:

I'm also interested to see if anyone has tried these. There is also a starting community over at transformerforums.com.
I just got a notification for an OTA update. Should I hold off on the update until I root or should I root first then update? Is there a standard Android practice regarding OTA and root?
I will wait to update ota , maybe root is gone after this..

Wish i would have seen this earlier, but it's too late now.
I did the Asus update which popped up right when i turned the tablet on, then downloaded and ran Kingo One click, and all was rooted and running great in minutes!
So far so good, as long as the problems dont bite me in the butt

Is the REAL issue rooting the device, or unlocking the bootloader?
From what I understand (and am experiencing with my personally owned Acer A3-A20), rooting the device cannot be achieved unless the device's bootloader is successfully unlocked. I have searched numerous forums and posted within their topic threads in hopes to find a successful method for rooting my newly purchased tablet. However, I keep stumbling on the same point: when a device is booted with the manufacturers boot loader sequence, that bootloader must be unlocked using the manufacturer's given method for doing so. I sincerely hope that somebody reading this with the know-how and ability to crack this problem like a boss, or a member of the xda-developer family can dedicate some time and ability into solving an issue that has more than likely sprouted a few gray hairs on my dome-piece. Now, I'm not a developer (yet), nor have I ever unlocked or have ever known how to unlock to bootloader--I am just stating the issue that I keep coming across on the web, assuming that this idea of approach is not only factual, but helpful to my fellow A3-A20 owners. The concept does make sense to me though.
>>> It is extremely likely, that If I don't come across a solution before the next payday, I think that I'm going to return my new purchase toy, for either a Nexus tablet or an ASUS Transformer Book. (It sure will be nice when I finish my B.S. degree and graduate from my Programming & Mobile Application Development program!).

Can someone please grant a fellow Acer patron the courtousy of notifying me of a solution to this issue, at [email protected]? I would sincerely appreciate it. Thanks and good looking out!
Have you guys tried Kingo root? I was able to root my A3-A20 with it.

It seems to work on my Acer A3-A20FHD

I finally found an exploit that rooted this phone. I can pull the stock rom off for you, but I have to figure out how to do it again. I have to read the manual again.
If you have any hints on how to do it correctly, I'm open.

Fuego firmware
I don't have that phone anymore. I sold it to a buddy and he dropped it into oblivion.
I'm pretty sure that I'm going to leave Android behind and move to Tizen.
What's Tizen you might ask? It's a linux based OS that is meant for small embedded devices like phones or TV's... They really emphasize TV's because the Tizen project is backed by Samsung and they are going to start putting it on all of their TV's.... It works on phones too with an array of processors.... Instead of using Java in a virtual machine to make/run apps, it uses a native HTML5 interpreter. HTML5 is open, and a standard... "Java" is owned by Sun Microsystems and is not open. fsck Google and Sun and Android.... I'm moving to the new way to make your phone operate all neat and "free"... I'm moving to Tizen.
Search the googs for Tizen and you will come up with it because I can't post links yet.
I"m pretty sure that I saw a bunch of tools that help you in stall Tizen and forget about the hassle of "rooting" your phone, or dealing with that locked bootloader nonsense, or (dare I say, though I cannot confirm) that the whole "sim/carrier lock" that keeps you with that crapola cell provider is a non issue when the community writes the cell software and not some greedy corporation. I can't be sure, but I'm pretty sure that Tizen can boot your phone to an SD card and ignore all the proprietary crap that the T mobiles and ATT's of the world use to force their "service" down your throat.
"Android" used to sound cool, but it has been replaced by a free/open OS who's name sounds like some bad-ass general from the ancient orient.... Hail Tizen!!
PS Tizen is part of the Linux foundation.
