According to the HTC Technical Support, yes, it is Gorilla Glass...
But whether it is Gorilla Glass or not, it is NOT scratch proof. Put on a screen protector before it is too late. No display is scratch proof yet.

Yes it does have gorilla glass on it.

I have a DVP with gorilla glass and the radar. I tell you that the radar has no gorilla glass.

I have a small scratch on my screen Tiny one, but some how I manage to made it

Corning Gorilla Glass is a requirement for all Windows Phones. Although as stated above, nothing is scratch proof...

Corning Gorilla Glass is NOT a requirement.

i don't think so!

It does have gorilla glass.

my Mozart has Gorrilla glass, doesn't mean it doesn't scratch. Just because someone has tested gorrilla glass ona random model and it didn't scratch doesn't mean yours wont.
Unfortunately not all Gorrilla glass is made equal, usually their 'show off' glass it much stronger. It took almost nothing for me to scratch my phone, I second whoelsec in saying put a screen protector on before it's too late!

Does Mozart have Gorilla Glass

Hi,
When I was planning to buy Mozart (during its launch) I had checked quite a lot of sites for all possible previews and specs.
I had also checked GSM Arena.
Today I was in GSM Arena and in the Mozart section they have mentioned that it uses Gorilla Glass.
I am kind of sure that this was not there when I had read it earlier (Before buying)
Can any of you confirm this.
I did do a google search but could not find any solid leads
good question. i somehow feel it is not really gorilla glass though. but it is not really that scratch prone. is there anyone who use their mozart without screen protector? any comments?
thanks!
According to the official website of Gorilla Glass the HTC Mozart HAVE IT!

i not use screen protector,..... so far so good
same thing for me..no scratch protector, fell off my hands once but no scratches to the screen so far... can't say the same for the rest of the phone though ;(
no light scratches or anything?
I got a scratch on my phone the 2nd day I owned it, not sure how I scratched it but since then I have had a screen protector.
No protection here, no scratches so far...

is it better to have a screen protector on ( I know its safer but I mean for touch senstivity etc.) Would prefer not to get scrtaches on it as Im going to sell it when the new nokia comes out.
I've dropped my Mozart a couple times and I have 3 deep scratches on my screen. I didn't think it was gorilla glass as I thought it was tougher. Although some of those drops were from quite a height and the screen is still in one piece. The Mozart is one tough cookie but I would recommend using a screen protector and possibly a case just to keep it looking beautiful.
i dont think its gorilla glass. it would be great if it really is scratch resistant. in the site, they said that the desire z was using gorilla glass, but when i had the screen replaced due to dust build up, i was able to feel it and it feels like plastic. i think the only phone they had with gorilla glass was the hd2.
Its confirmed by loads of websites and HTC them selves its Gorrilla Glass. END OF!

Easy enough to make scraches even if it is.
thats good to hear! but it is barely scratch resistant though.
nothing is scratch resistant, it's just harder to scratch.

It doesn't come with screen protector...
It comes, like other HTC's, with a complete protector witch you can't use just on the screen, and you can't use that protector while using the phone itself...

[Q] Gorilla Glass on SGS2

Does Gorilla glass on SGS2 requires screen protector / scratch guard ?
I read it's scratch resistant but not scratch proof. I'm planning on using a flip case like Zenus Carbon flip case so it has some protection on screen but might forgo the screen protector ? Haven't decided yet.
Looking at my leather case from phone in pocket small scratches .
jje
Dam, you had to say that heh. Looks like maybe screen protector is needed after all
I was really careful with my s1 and still managed to get small scratches on the screen. Gorilla glass seems to be fine with things like keys and stuff, but sand particles or anything similar will scratch the screen very easily.
Always make sure you have clean pockets or a clean case.

gorilla glass is scratch resistant...... but the screen is covered with a coating which is highly scratchable & can be easily scratched from almost anything resulting in fine scratches that only can be seen under bright light at odd angles
this coating is supposed to protect the screen from oil and smudges so putting a screen protector on it just defeats the purpose of the coating
while also putting a highly scratchable coating on the screen defeats the purpose of the scratch resistant gorilla glass
so i think it's really complicated, but im keeping my device naked anyway
Come people,
Gorilla glass is Break resistant, not scratch proof.
Look it up.
Iphones are known for its glass to break or crack with 1 fall.
Its obvious that any material can be scratch, doesn't matter whether its steel or diamond IT CAN BE SCRATCHED.
I take it the Gorilla glass fitted to SGS2 differs from the Motorola Defy. Before getting my SGS2 I looked at a Defy and the advisor in the CPWH gave the Defy a real doing stabbing the glass with keys and wiping them across the screen and neither had any effect.
I really love the screen on my phone and am loathe to put anything on it that will get in the way of it or ruin the feel when stroking the screen. I am looking to get a Zeuz carbon flip case which has micro fibre inner lining which is meant to prevent rubbing scratching the screen. Reading this thread has me wondering now

Keys tend to be made from brass which is very soft. Sand however is much harder, mostly silicon with a MOHS value of 7 and will scratch glass and mild steel very easily.
Brass (Keys)= 3.5 MOHS
Steel = 5.5 - 7 MOHS
Sand = 7 MOHS
Gorilla glass???
now thats the question

i have had my captivate for a year, totally naked the whole time, the only scratches i see, are very small, and only visible in bright light at different angles. I hate screen protectors, my infuse, and inspire are also naked, so i will not be putting one on my SGS2 either
Gorilla glass isn't break resistant... Look in the general section, a guy broke his screen with one fall.

I've had every iPhone since the original and have NEVER (I repeat NEVER) scratched the screen (not even a miniscule scratch). That being said, on the iPhone 4 I've noticed many small little scratches on the back glass which says to me it's a different type of glass.
Assuming the SGS2 has the same glass as the front of the i4, I'll be keeping the front naked the way g-d (or Samsung) intended.
yep, sand is bad. Very abrasive. That why repair shops and auto body shops have sandpaper, sandblasters, sanding discs, etc. Sand will scratch anything but a diamond. Diamond is the hardest element on earth, so don't put your diamond earrings or wedding ring in your pocket with your phone. You'll be sorry lol

Yes, it does have gorilla glass and the screen protector is just personal preference, I have one just in case...
As far as it says on the gorilla glass website our phone has gorilla glass but I would highly recommend you keeping your screen protector. I already scrached another 3d

Based on what I've seen, I believe the Evo 3D is listed on the Gorilla Glass website because the glass covering the camera is Gorilla Glass. It's my belief that the glass covering the cameras is GG and the glass on the front is not. I can't prove it but I bet if we looked into it, that's what we'd find.

Have you had any success getting a phone replaced for a screen scratch? I would think they would put that squarely into the "your fault " category...

I'm sorry were you under the misconception that the insurance only covers loss or something? Your fault category is precisely what insurance is for slick.
Mechanical or electrical failure, routine maintenance, and failure from normal wear and tear. File your replacement request within 60 days of incident.
Loss, theft, physical or liquid damage and resulting corrosion, and fire or lightning damage. File your replacement request within 60 days of incident.
The screen scratches just as easy as any phone. I had ny EVO screen scratch on me from my earrings. Forgot I had them on while talking on the phone and scratched my screen to all hell. Safe to say doesn't sound like gg to me.

I actually emailed HTC on this question a few weeks ago..the rep told me that neither the front screen or the back camera cover were gorilla glass..he said that they have used a glass that is comparable or better than gorilla glass.but on the corning site it shows as having gorilla glass
http://www.corninggorillaglass.com/products-with-gorilla/htc
No offense but most everyone knows that the reps aren't exactly the most knowledgeable of people.
If it's listed on Corning's site it must be true, they can't really lie about where their product is and isn't being used, it's bad business.
Also my phone's glass is pretty damn strong, I've dropped it on a metal seat belt and I don't have anything to show for.

Its been officially stated that the screen is GG and the camera lens protector is just plastic (albeit a strong plastic).
I dont bother with screen protectors. My Evo 4G (not GG) never had a protector for a little over a year and never had an issue. If you treat your stuff right, it should stand upto any "normal" abuse. Of course its preference.
Yeah, everyone sweats over whether it has Gorilla Glass or not, it's still just glass. Every phone now has hardened glass, they all don't scratch from metal, and they all scratch from the same sand and what not. Who cares if it's officially Gorilla Glass or not?
FYI:
EVO 4G x2. Evo# 1 never got a scratch. Evo #2 (Wifes Evo) scratched......insurance replaced without a deductible (I have no idea how that happened...lol).
EVO 3D's NAKID as well...and will be....for me screen protectors just make the touch screen feel crappy......

Most metal is harder than any kind of glass (Except maybe gold). Specially if you have any kind of gemstone in your earrings. Gorilla glass != Indestructible.
For what it is worth:
I dropped a small hardened steel drill bit from 8 inches and it chipped my screen. (this was by accident as I had it under my work station). The chip immediately turned into a crack the moment I touched the phone. I bought a replacement digitizer to replace myself...
The outcome: The outer glass/digitizer is 1.40mm/0.055in thick. It is fairly tangible. Replacing the digitizer is a b---h, and I mean that as the LCD and digitizer cannot be accessed easily, if at all, from inside the phone.
And, my new screen got a tiny scratch from a razor blade on my work desk. I do not think this is a specialty glass. I would advise caution and possibly a case & screen protector...
i dont know about you guys but my Evo3D has DIAMOND GLASS !!! I have a pure diamond screen. **** gorilla glass !!!!
There are so many reports of broken and scratched Evo 3D screens already, why take the chance. Just search the forums, you'll find a several gouged and shattered screens here. Phone insurance doesn't cover cosmetic issues (like scratched glass), only functional issues.
Taking care of the phone helps, but accidents happen. I had 4 Evo 4G's, 3 were mint, 1 had a scratched screen, they all had screen protectors and cases from the time they came out of the box.

The screen is not resistant to scratches, in my personal experience. It seems there is a mineral coating on the glass which makes it shatter proof (can be seen on top edge of phone)
Its not mineral coating, its just screen protector, u can remove it..

Ok.. Thanks for the reply:good:
According to Sony, the phone has a hard coated shatter proof laminate sheet over scratch resistant mineral glass. In some countries, the package includes an extra screen protector which can be removed. The laminate sheet is not scratch resistant (I have big scratch on my screen, testimony to that fact) but it can also be removed. You can check the Sony forums and youtube for more details. http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/41307?start=0&tstart=0

I know that, mineral glass is scratch resistant, and laminate sheet (aka fabric screen protector) is not. I removed mine a couple days ago and it's way better without it, but still screen is not that scratch resistant like gorilla glass 1 and 2.

Alright now I am going to buy the Mega 6.3. But the question is the screen protection. Does it occupied with the gorilla glass/oleophobic coating or any other scratch resistant material. I want to know because I have always used phones that had either gorilla glass or gorilla glass+oleophobic coating. Its important !! The people who are already using it can answer this question. A little help is appreciated. Thanks.!

The Mega uses tempered glass which is resistant to scratches and minor falls. This is not different from Gorilla glass as they both still break and get scratched no matter what the manufacturer say. It depends on the surface the phone fell on, the position of the phone when it fell, and the luck of the user. I don't think the Mega has oleophobic coating but you can get screen protectors that have this coating.
My Mega came with oleophobic coating.
It does not mean it is resistant to grease but you can wipe it off easily. This effect wears off with use.
