Hboot 1.30? Rootable? - HTC EVO 3D

I got a launch day evo 3D with Hboot with 1.40 and have been rooted since 1st day possible. Just got my wife a brand new 3D for Christmas and it has Hboot 1.30? Just out of curiosity, but is this still rootable? Or is revolutionary only restricted to 1.40? I didn't know there was any earlier versions still out there.

You should he able to root it witbout a problem. The only unrootable hboot version is 1.50..... But this may change soon since its being worked on.

If I remember right, when you are on hboot 1.3 you select that with revolutionary and it will upgrade you to 1.4 and s-off you.

Thanks guys I'll give it a whirl. She said she had an update and I yelled at her lol.

False, 1.5 hboot is rootable. Being s-on does not mean no root.

Software number safe to root?

Hi all got my 3d yesterday from a friend dirt cheap. he updated it a few days prior. Of course it had hboot 1.50 bit the software number is 2.08.651.3?
Question is it still safe to root using htcdev? I've seen the 2.08.651.2 but never the one in mine

Only difference between 2.08.651.2 and 2.08.651.3 is .3 has the recent security update OTA HTC/Sprint released and pushed .. a week or so ago.
Bootloader wasn't touched in the update.
Rooting should be same as 2.08.651.2 and hboot 1.5 using htc unlock method.
Good luck!

As I stated in my previous post in this thread, the only method avaible to root this version of the HTC EVO 3D is through HTC.
Root process is essentially two steps on this device.
1) Unlock the write protection on the internal memory
2) Load the su binary which grants root access on the device. This is generally loaded through a custom recovery.
There are a few guides sticky (meaning they are permanently at the top of the thread) in the CDMA development section. If you are unfamilar with the process and feel uncomfortable, I'd read 2-3 different guides to get a general feel for the overall process. To be honest, it is *fairly* straight forward and there are many guides posted all over.
If you're familar with ADB and fastboot, you can head straight to http://www.htcdev.com and follow their directions.
If you're interested in learning more generally about root itself, I have a free app in the market called All About Root which provides some great general information to help prepare any person looking to gain root access.
Hope that helps! Good luck!

[Q] Have S-Off 1.5 hboot and want to downgrade to 1.4.

I had my phone flashed to MetroPCS and the guy updated my hboot to 1.5 I saw a thread a couple months back about being able to downboot my hboot from 1.5 to 1.4 with S-off but a search didn't help me find anything. Anyone know the steps/point me in the right direction?

I've answered this a few times on this board regarding the CDMA version of the EVO 3D. I'll quote from my previous posts as I don't think anything has changed. Please post back if you still have questions!

Here are a few reasons why we aren't able to downgrade the Hboot, like was done on the EVO Shift twice:

2nd time around: shift didn't have the nand write lock on the misc partition, hence being able to temp root and flash a lower version to the misc partition then hboot would allow a downgraded version of software to be loaded.
esseentially it seems as if htc was doing the bare minimum to protect the shift from being unlocked/rooted as all these methods were known and some were used on the HTC EVO prior to the shift software releases.
this has been covered a few times on the forums, but i hope rehashing old ideas/attempts might spark new ones! sometimes it only takes a slight tweak to an old method for it to bypass a patch and work! hope that helps!

If your hboot was soff before he upgraded, then it would still be soff, so if you're on hboot 1.5 with s off, then you can downgrade. If you're s on, then you're stuck.

Yes my S-Off flag is still showing in the Bootloader
I know downgrading from 1.5 with S-on is currently impossible but I know it can be done with S-off
Should've clarified I guess
Edit: yes it is CDMA

[Q] S-Off 1.122

Quick ? I ran Lazy Panda with no problems, but why does my hboot version say 1.12.111 and some others say hboot 1.12.222. When I s offed, should my hboot have updated to 1.12.222? Just want to know why some show 1.12.111 and others 1.12.222.
Thanks
It's an engineered hboot for more fastboot cmds, find it in original android forum.

go back to lazypandas website and download the fastboot version of the hboot and flash it. that will give you 1.12.2222
Yep your gonna want to update that

I've been wondering this, and seems like a good place to ask: Why exactly is .2222 needed? Don't all the other hboot versions allow fastboot already?

I believe its an insecure hboot that allows for the s-off exploit

I ran the latest RUU with bootloader unlocked, s-on, rooted and I got everything except the latest radio and hboot. You have to relock the bootloader, then run RUU to get a complete upgrade.

Yes, I used ZedoMax unlock tutorial to unlock the first time. Why do you not wish to have the latest hboot?
I was hboot 1.15 when I ran the latest RUU unlocked and updated on the firmware. I decided that having the latest radio was important and you can not get one without the other right now from what I could find. So, I now have the latest radio and hboot, I unlocked the bootloader once again and reflashed my custom ROM.

Sure, here ya go.
Install SDK tools first - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oaNM-lt_aHw&feature=fvwrel
Relock bootloader - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5yS7yy4XVA4&list=SP53B1EB8DBE7A5B59&index=1&feature=plpp_video
Update with latest RUU - http://stockroms.net/file/HTCEvo4GLTE/RUU
Hope this helps...I love mine after the latest hboot and radio together. It now has none of those pesky issues I was fighting.
P.S. after you relock, the phone will NOT reboot. Just keep it on "bootloader usb" and then run the RUU from your computer. Then unlock again. It will be all updated and run great.
I would suggest waiting as well. Chances are your missed calls and texts aren't going to be fixed by a new radio

I think the real chances are that s-off will be achieved on hboot 1.19 first, anyway. I haven't found one credible indication of anyone working on either though...

Its being worked on. Nobody is going to announce "oh hay guize I'm working on getting S-OFF". You'll know who is is when they find S-OFF and announce it.
What makes you think 1.19 will be found first? That doesn't really make sense.
I just think it makes more sense to have the latest radio. It was updated by HTC for a reason and everyone that wants it, not being s-off already, has to do what I did. Consequently, since the update I have LTE nearly everywhere I go in NW Houston, prior to the update was spotty connectivity at best.

Most people don't have LTE coverage yet, so for most the radio isn't worth hboot 1.19

Unless of course, you're having issues running a custom rom on the latest firmware and older hboot. Then, one may wish to look at the options even if they are the "most" as you say or the least as I clearly represent in your estimation.

[Q] [q] 4.05.605.14 RUU?

Is there an RUU for 4.05.605.14?
I need to return my phone to stock and currently have 4.05.605.14 and am s-on, if there's no ruu what do I do?
Do the s-off procedure, downgrade to another official ruu (not a leaked one). After doing all that, factory reset and son. Then accept the OTA. Only way to do it as of now as son you will get "relocked" anyway. Need to s-off to get "locked"

Unfortunately this RUU, and anything after 4.3.605.2 (which was a beta), never were released... the last official release was 3.14.605.12.
The really bad news is downgrading is not possible while S-ON.
