[Q] Installing Onecosmic's ICS Port Android 4.0.3 RC1 on Galaxy S(gingerbread 2.3.5) - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello guys,
i have gingerbread 2.3.5 upgrade on my galaxy s directly from KIES currently installed, i want to apply the onecosmic ics ROM, is it safe to directly apply the rom...please mention the steps..im really confused...or shud i must have the CM7??...thanks

Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A

Its better if you first flash 2.2, then speedmod (for recovery) then CM7, and then ICS.
Its a short process, i highly recommend you to do it, you can try on your ROM, but im not 100% sure it will work and you may brick your phone.

[Q] Best ROM Galaxy 10.1 3G

Hi, guys
I looked around I saw lots of ROMs and there is no thread which is talking about which ROM should be the best for Tab10.1.
so, what do you guys think which ROM is the best and also include link to that room....
Thanks
1. This shouldn't be in this forum section. It's not ROM development!
2. There is no such thing as 'best rom' as it's highly subjective. If you don't need the Camera, flash an ICS rom. If you do, then stick with a Honeycomb one.
Questions go in the Q&A section.
Simple as it get's
Care for Camera: HC 3.2 ROM's
Care for Speed/Performance: ICS Kang CM9
I choose Overcome v 2.3.0 as i want the tab to function flawlessly.
Now, i can wait for a fully functional ICS rom
I am using Overcome 2.3 too.

[Q] Need information about installing the new ROM on Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100

Hi Guys,
I'm new to this Forum so please pardon if i'm not following any rules and mistakenly posted the thread in the wrong location.
I had installed Clockworkmod Recovery from "theandroidsoul"
Then I have Samsung Galaxy S2 i9100. Recently i have installed a custom ROM on it provided by JellyBam ROM 20121023 – i9100 (courtesy: igio90.)
It has upgraded my phone to:
Android version: 4.1.2
Baseband: I9100DDLP8
Kernel Version:[email protected]
AOKP Version: JellyBam.AOKP.Build5
Build number: JellyBam AOKP 20121023
I have found it to be unstable as there were many functionality that have been lost including FM, 5.1 surround sound, MTP and mass storage connection, etc.
I would like to remove the ROM completely and install another of ROM
Please suggest me the following:
1. can i go back to ICS 4.0.1 by removing this rom and instaliling ICS from odin? what would be a recommended procedure for it?
2. Will i BRIK my phone in this process?
3. Can i install any other version of Jelly bean custom rom using ODIN, what would be a recommended procedure for it?
Guys i need your help ASAP as i cannot stay with this unstable ROM for long. any help is hugely appreciated.

from what i can see you need a stable custom ROM with nice Features, i recommend you Cyanogen Mod 10 Jelly Bean... i Have it on my XPERIA ARC S and it works perfectly with no detected bugs, only one thing that i dont care about is that no more HDMI setting... the prcedure is quit easy and if you got stuck you can go back and ask for help, i dont think you can brick your phone if you follow steps and make a minor mistake.. if you would like to try, i can help you in everything, and please hit "THANKS" if i helped

[Q] RTL Arabic on S2 i777

my first post, please don't flame (too hard).
I've helped others with GPS and Play store glitch after jelly bean update, and now looking for some help.
My wife has an S2 i777 and did SIM unlock to use with T-MO.
It's GB 2.3.6. The PDA is i777 UCKK6.
I'm looking for RTL with Arabic language support. I've done weeks of reading and I found this nice thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1292841 But that ONLY supports UCKH7
This phone is not rooted.
Looking for noob instructions for RTL arabic support.
Thanks in advance.
1. Upgrade to ICS and you should have proper Arabic support sans keyboard - AFAIK Hebrew/Arabic/all RTL language support was first introduced on ICS. When on ICS, download any Arabic keyboard from Play Store and you should be good to go.
2. Or move to deodexed GB ROM (any custom ROM) and run madmack's Arabic patcher (google it and you'll find it). It should work on any deodexed GB ROM, since it's based on Hebrew patcher that decompiles/recompiles the framework - but it's also the reason why it can't work on stock odexed ROM.
I suggest option 1.
Thanks Jack.
1) I heard that ICS was a complete failure and has bricked many i777 S2's. Are you saying to root and use custom ROM as opposed to the ATT update?
2) found what deodexed means... www wugfresh .com /guides / deodex/
Do you have any experience with the i777 S2 and ATT ICS OTA update?
Thanks
1. ICS is generally a better system on this phone IMHO. I do suggest moving to it through custom ROMs rather than through stock official upgrade - stock-based custom ROMs offer stock stability with customization options, and EMBRYO 5.4 is a good ROM that I'm happily running. Not sure how relevant the infamous "brickbug" is, but it's irrelevant for most custom ROMs.
If anyone more familiar with "brickbug" can chime in - you might get a better picture. I got mine with Gingerbread, installed TWRP recovery and flashed custom ROM about 1/2 hour after I got the phone, so I have no experience with stock GB/ICS.
2. "Deodexed" means - not odexed. With Google help:
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/what-is-odex-and-deodex-in-android-complete-guide/
Stock ROMs are always odexed, so you'll have to move to a sort of custom ROM anyway. And if you do - you might as well go a better route than staying on GB.
Since I'm the kk6 (2.3.6) GB, do I need to downgrade factory image first in order to root? Or is there a tool out there to root and put a custom ROM (ICS or JB custom ROM).
Thanks
It's not one tool, it's more.
Read the stickies, they contain rooting guides. See that you understand what you're doing before proceeding.
Thanks Jack. I was just wondering if I needed to downgrade GB version first.
No, you don't need.
Just to let you know, there is a thank button to thank the user that helps you.
It's used a lot here on XDA.
You can thank 8 a day.
