There have been some very real quality issues with this device. Particularly with the GPS (which MAY have turned out just to be a software issue, but may not be).
For you to write those issues off by saying that people were trolling is extremely irresponsible.
There has been some direct trolling, but the volume of the negative reviews have been from honest owners.
I appreciate the honest opinions here - it can be tough to fish out the trolls from the honest folk though.
Ah there are simply too many people that are looking for an ipad but buying the Prime, imho... And then there are many people that only look at the small things that arent perfect yet and not at the big picture.
I still have not found a big enough reason to cancel my preorder (ships mid january here) and there are so many people here trying really hard to ***** about this Tablet
On the other hand, if I was getting the TP mainly for GPS navigation in my car i wouldnt do it. But for the things i intend to do with it (surfing&youtube, watching movies, gaming _with a gamepad_ +emulators and text input), there's still nothing better and wont be anytime soon.

I opt'd to cancel my prime order...no gps and poor wifi performance... not for $600 so I canceled the dock and tablet order *sigh* am very disappointed...
I have one that I'm selling for $650 here locally on Craigslist in Eugene OR. I think I'm the only one in Eugene that has it. If I sell it I can buy a dock for my second Prime.

The wifi is fine and there is a GPS. You didnt even receive it, yet you assume that these issues exist in all TFPs, which they don't.

Good thing I'm selling it on Craigslist. Its funny how some people are oblivious to the Prime. One guy laughed at me and sent me a link to what he thought was the same tablet. It was the tf101 lol. Asking me why he should buy mine and not the one he found for $400. So I of course educated him a bit and told him off.

For a phone under $350 its $40...
For a phone over $350 think it was $50-60.

but for a $749 phone retail, 12-18 months later its worth 225 or 150 18-24 months which is why I think they're pushing it with the thunderbolt. For less expensive phones it obviously wouldn't be worth it as much

TF700 is slated Q2 which if normal release cycles are anything to go by will be the back end of that quarter and that will be provided there are no delays. they have to be able to produce a 600+ nits screen that can do full HD on mass production levels and hope they don't encounter any other problems.
then you have have whether or not ICS will cope with a full HD screen on normal day to day use, will apps? will ICS need tweaking to work properly? will tegra 3 be able to handle full HD res without dragging its ass like a dog.
I'm buying the prime now, with a weather eye on the TF700 down the line. no reason to deny myself in the meantime. play with the prime. sell it six to seven months down the line and get the newer model sounds like a plan to me.

I got ICS early.
I don't need GPS on a tablet, I've got a phone.
I really like the aluminum.
There is always going to be something better 4-6 months from now...

So you bought a new prime with every intention of returning it while your original prime is getting fixed. Maybe you think twice next time or make sure there is a return window.
Considering all the problems with the prime, I am sure you could convince them to tak it back. We were told the same thing about Microcenter, and they took my prime back no questions asked due to all the issues (But in my case we were honestly returning due to the issues)
I'm waiting for the next model - Not worth the cash for a device with issues (Putting foil on the face to improive wifi reconfirmed my decision to wait)

My beloved prime after it was catapulted by my 10 month baby across the room (yeah, she's that strong, we call her Yetti behind her back).
Surprisingly enough, the bad mammajamma is still fully functioning (minus the fact that swiping your finger across those cracks will draw blood, the darn thing is razor-sharp).
Think I can RMA? (The prime, not Yetti)
I tried to nandroid-restore it, but it's still cracked, I'll write a *****en email to the dev with a feature request, "Please make option to restore broken screen or else I'll give you 1 star".
oh, and it made my GPS super-awesome now! I can see 4000+ sats now, some of them I can pick right through earth when they are right below me.

That just hurts me from looking at it. If you can't scrap it for parts do you think a screen protector would prevent your fingers from getting cuts? If your into programing you can turn it into a test tablet for running and tinkering roms/apps.

I purchased my Prime from Office Depot online in January. Based on the returns Best Buy is allowing I called Office Depot and they are not accepting them back, manufacturers defects or not.
The tech I spoke with did say he spoke with his manager and he said I need to call ASUS as they are recalling the Primes.
Needless to say the ASUS website has no phone listed, or operable, in the US. Anyone have phone number for ASUS?

Thanks, but I tried that earlier and got an oops....try again. ASUS way of saying, don't bother.
Should be no different from a car maker recall for a bad tire or bad brake, Asus should have done this as soon as the GPS and Wifi problems were identified and confirmed. The FCC should be initiating this policy to protect the consumers but they seem to be pretending asleep as the wheel while collecting fees for certification! That really sucks doesn't it?

yeah, I emailed ASUS last week and never got a reply. I wanted it out of my site so I traded it for a couple iPod Touch 32GBs. Took a bit of a hit on it, but I agree, never again on ASUS. I am not an Apple "lover", but the iPad 3 I got hasn't been put down since I got it. Now, iPhone I will never own.

It may be rumors, but it was the excuse Office Depot supervisor used for sending me back ASSUS. Fact!

Are you going to tell me "Prime is discontinued"... is still a rumor as well....
If I remember correctly, since April... there hasn't been any new "version" of Prime...but of course, Asus (and you) kept telling us that Prime won't be discontinued, will continue to be produced, and will sell next to Infinity.
So much for that... although... they... are.. sort of selling Prime next to Infinity through online, although most online vendors are starting to take Prime out of their system and replacing it with TF700. But yea.. so much for Asus & their promise/statement.. or whatever.
As for recall... could just mean "inventory" recall from all vendors. Now, the hopeful rumor is recalling "all" Primes for refund/exchange. =/ I prefer the hopeful rumor....
You guys know as well as I do there's not gonna be no recall.
If you really had enough with your 201, take it with no receipt to you know where and make something up if you really want an Infinity or something else before its too late. Multiple reports already of no receipt given credit... you can either complain to us who agree but know Asus will do nothing or you can try to get rid of it, read on page 2 of that thread nobody else had tried it without ADH before I went, I had just had enough of the wifi/bt on my Prime. If the first store I went to had told me no (and I had receipt) would have just went to the other ones around here til somebody gave me credit for it

I would if mine is from Best Buy... but mine is from Gamestop. =/
That exchange works for Best Buy only so far.. it seems.

Like I said, there has been several reports in the thread as long as you have your box and charger, take it say it was a gift you dont have the receipt and they can still exchange for store credit if the customer service employee will do it. Is BB that far away, what do you have to lose if your Prime is that bad?
I already tried to take my gamestop prime to best buy. I failed big time. I talked to the manager too. Plain and simple, they will not take it without being able to find the transaction in their system. I regret buying it from gamestop and I will never step another foot in their stores.
I have called Asus and gamestop a number of times and have gotten no where. I have also pm Gary for a refund. My last resort will be my squaretrade warranty but I doubt Asus will be getting another $500 from me.
Asus has awesome products on paper but their quality and customer support sucks major butt. They haven't come through on anything that was communicated to us on this website except for that stupid dongle.

Having no receipt no matter where you bought it from may work. My best buy here went into "green screen" or something and determined I didn't have a receipt through them. but others may not be so determining.

I'm kinda glad best buy didn't take my gamestop prime back since now I don't have to feel guilty screwing them over due to gamestop and Asus lack of care for their customers. They both have a take the money and run attitude.
I always wondered why people like apple so much even though their products blow and r always behind the 8 ball. It's all about the customer service. My wife has no complaints about her iPad.
