Any ideas? Camera keeps trying to update - and auto-rotate not working - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Hi all,
Firstly can I say thankyou to all of you at these forums, I've been a lurker for a while, waiting for my Prime to arrive, and I'm very grateful for all your insights!
I have now recieved it and seem to avoided most of the well-documented problems on here, but seem to have managed a new one (at least i couldn't find a similar one through searching).
So I updated the Prime with the new firmware and it all seemed to go well. After a while the notification popped up to do the camera firmware (as I had been expecting from these threads). I set it going, and after a short while it said it was complete. The next time I powered on however, the notification to update the camera firmware was back, so I did it again (thinking it must be additional one). But it keeps doing the same thing - saying it's successful, only to re-appear after a re-start.
My current versions are
Build - 8.8.3.33 (which i know is what it should be)
Camera - 0xFFFFFFFF (which I know is wrong!)
Anyone else had a similar problem? Or any ideas?
I have no idea if it's possible, but I am also wondering whether this is what's causing my auto-rotate not to work. Just to confirm, I have the auto-rotate set on, and the gyroscope doesn't seem to be working for anything else (tried it on riptide demo)
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

you should try reflashing .33 from the ASUS hosted file...i think there are a few threads about where to get it.

Mine is completely borked. After installing ICS I got a notification for a camera firmware update. The update failed several times, and now when I launch the camera app it says it won't work without updated firmware...
EDIT: I rebooted and as soon as it started up it bugged me to install the camera update again. I made sure the screen stayed on while it updated this time and things seem to have worked out. Camera is working just fine!

[Q] Date/Time being set to 1-1-1970

I flashed over to CM6.1 yesterday and applied the persist.sys.timezone=America/Los_Angeles edit to the build.prop. That is working just fine because everytime I start my tablet it sets the time to 4:00 PM 12-31-1969 which is 8 hours before 1-1-1970 (The beginning of time for UNIX).
My question is, is anyone else having this issue or am I the only lucky one?
If I'm not the only one, does anyone know how I can fix this??
I have tried to change the date and time, but after every reboot it changes back. Pretty frustrating, I do not want to be 3 years old again!
This is a known issue, due to the boot.img being used. You can use an apk like "clocksync" as a workaround, for now.
There's no fix yet. Easiest way to fix it is to install NTPc. It'll check the time servers on the internet and update your time/date appropriately.
Thank you, I was not aware that this was a known issue. I can live with it until the final fix is in place.
I will run those work arounds and continue to love the CM6.1 ROM.
Date goes back to 1970 on reboot
Three years have passed and this issue still remains even with CM10...
When the heck they are going to fix this?

SGS2 phone/dialer app issues

Does anyone ever have issues with the phone/dialer app?
If I try to call someone from contacts, I swipe on their name to the right and nothing happens, if I try again, I notice the contacts app has frozen OR I try to swipe again and nothing happens again. Eventually it might work after 2 or 3 goes.
Then I'll hang up after finally getting it to make the call and the phone immediately tries to make the calls I tried to make earlier... This happens fairly often but not all the time.
OR – (this happens rarely but does happen)
Phone rings, try to swipe the green answer thingo and it just bounces back to where it was, try to swipe/answer again nothing. I can't answer the call. Happened today, really pissed me off. Phone app crashed and refused to make a call after that for about a minute.
Sound familiar to anyone?
Using Android 2.3.5 Vodafone (Australia) stock unrooted.
Anyone?
Would love some help on this.
Yes I am facing the same issues as you.
A few observations:
problems exist on stock dialer app as well as third party dialer apps
It's an intermittent problem i.e. sometimes the problem shows and other times it does not
I was facing the same problem a couple months ago too, since i was running 2.3.3 so i had just upgraded to 2.3.6 and the problem had disappeared. But out of the blue it has again started now while i am running 2.3.6
Currently i am running on stock rom, cf rooted, latest modem.
Am looking for a permanent solution and will post a solution if i find one, in any case hope the official ICS release (due on the 15th) should solve the problem anyways.
Anyone else facing the same problem?
Updates
Usually clearing the cache and calvik cache does not help resolve the issue.
After posting the above post I had just created a ClockWork mod backup and Restored to the same. Dunno how but that resolved the issue, or to be exact, the issue did not surface for a couple days.
Today the issue actually became too much for me to be able to handle.
So I again cleared both cache and dalvik cache and then fixed permissions via CLockWork recovery menu.
Since then I am not facing the issue yet. Hope it works for you too.
(But this is just a preliminary observation and maybe the issue shall resurface with long term use)
p.s. really hoping that the impending ICS update will permanently fix said issue.

[Q] 'flickering' (bug?) when dling updates in notification area

OK guyz,
I could't find a specific thread on this (yet), so here is an observation I have noted consistently on my TP:
After you closed the market window (and initiated some updates), you will see the little arrows indicating the download/update progress in lower right of the screen.
Fine so far.
Whenever I tap on the lower right to open the power menu (or whatever you call that quick menu), the "download progress" of say dice player, seems to 'flicker' or 'weirdly jumps in and out of focus' instead of say just stay there and indicate the progress as it should.
One would expect that the progress 'icon' of the app you are dling would stay, not flicker. In this case, it seems to jump around, i can't find a better way to describe it than that. It sounds like a bug or glitch of the interface or something. Nothing major, but feels like this should be addressed.
Has anyone else noticed this? Can anyone else replicate it? (or maybe there is a thread i missed about this? If so, please let me know)
The conditions this behavior consistently occurs are
1) docked TP
2) latest Asus update
I will try to replicate it without the tablet plugged into the doc and see what happens.
thanks for reading.
I can confirm I have the same issue. It started after the .15 update I did the other day.
I believe its an ICS quirk. Shouldn't do much other than be a little bit annoying.
I have a german Prime still on .11 and I can confirm this behavior. So it seems to be indeed a ICS thing.
Thanks for the replies guyz!
I noticed after I created this thread the other thread addressing the "flickering" pb and was even able to replicate flicker with the recent app tap (had never really noticed before). http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1468110
Oh well, hopefully a minor inconvenience addressed in a future update.. let's hope!

Random Freezes / Lock-Up's after the recent 4.1.2 update

After the recent firmware update (I9300XXEMA1 (4.1.2)) [flashed via odin] my phone has been randomly freezing up. The only way around it is to reboot the phone by long pressing the power key. I've searched around the forum and realized its not just me, and some even mentioned it in the Stock Firmware Update thread
I've come across several threads regarding the same issue.

I can comfirm that the issue started with the 4.1.2 update. None of the fixes mentioned in the threads above seems to fix the issue.
So far, I've tried;
Full Wipe
Updating to a newer official build
Changing Kernels
Downgrading to 4.1.1
Applying the lag fix found here
None of them seems to fix the issue :/
I would really appreciate if you guys can point me in the right direction, really getting hopeless right now.
I have the same issue but mine seems to be related to wifi. With wifi off I dont seem to have any freezing issues
Mine seems to freeze almost always in browser......so far firefox nd chrome.....and it just happens haphazardly so i cannot actually nail the cause down.

Problems With My Device - Please Help

Hello all. Ive seen a bunch of the threads of people talking about issues with their device, but I've found a few weird bugs that I haven't seen anywhere else, so I wanted to see if anyone else has seen these/knows a solution.
Before I get started, I have a 32GB WiFi only N9. I installed that first firmware update that you get when you start the device, and nothing else. I have NOT rooted, installed a customer kernel, unlocked the bootloader, nothing. My current build number reads as LRX21L.
1) Heads Up Notifications. I don't get them. Period. This was a Lollipop feature I was really looking forward to, and no matter what app it is or what I'm doing, they don't give me a Heads Up popup. I don't think I did anything that would turn them off, it's just weirding me out that it's not happening. Is there a toggle somewhere that controls it?
2) Flashlight Toggle. I love that we finally have this, but the weirdest thing happened recently: it vanished. Like just totally up and vanished. I've only used it a few times in the week I've had the device, but I've never even touched the Cast Screen toggle and it's still there. Honestly, I used the flashlight toggle less than 24 hours before it vanished. How do I get it back?
I'm inclined to do a factory reset and see if it fixes these issues, but I wanted to check with you folks first. I also feel like I'm forgetting a third thing, if it comes to me I'll add it to this post.
Thanks in advance.
Sorry to hear about your problems. I'm also not receiving heads up notifications. I have notifications set to "always interrupt", but have never received a heads up notification.
I still have the flashlight quick toggle, though (located under "invert colors").
I'd flash the 21Q factory image. You'll have to unlock the bootloader and flash it manually. If you still have problems it could be a hardware issue.

I saw this and was wondering if it's related to your flashlight issue: http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/11/17/lollipop-bug-leaving-the-flashlight-on-until-it-times-out-breaks-the-camera-and-flashlight-until-you-reboot/
