[REQ] a good webOS forum app - TouchPad Themes and Apps

I have to use CM7 to use the XDA app. But, if webOS had a good, free forum viewing app, that'd be awesome.
If there is one, please link me to it. I would be very grateful as I haven't been able to find one.

The communities app in the HP market does what you want. You can also access the forums through precentral.

Key word in my post was free, and Communities isn't free. I can't buy apps, my parents don't see the point, so I can't get it.

In that case, pick up webos roundup from the market (it is free) and there is a forum app there for the webos forums. Hope that helps

I looked just now, and that isn't what I want at all, thanks for trying though. Which leads to the original purpose of the thread. Requesting a free forum viewing app. I'd like to be able to check XDA, Rootwiki, etc from my TP on webOS.
My problem being I have no way to purchase apps from anywhere. I don't care if it has ads or not either.

I just bookmarked the XDA website with the WebOs browser and go to xda that way.

+1 for bookmarking in WebOs. I have all the forums I visit in bookmarks, works great in the browser. I have zero issues with XDA in WebOs.

I was able to buy the app Communities.
Problem with bookmarking, is XDA would continuously reload on me, so I would keep getting logged out. Was frustrating not being able to be in webOS and properly check my forums.

Hi,
thisi s very different to bebot, unfortunately. It's a nice starting point, but it's so far...
wow, i had searched for the bebot for iphone. It's looks good, hope it comes to us.
Help me! I'm so close to buying an iPad JUST for the BeBot app. Theres absolutely no musical synth like it in an Android app or even in straight musical hardware (short of a Haken Continuum, which with the required keyboard sound module costs between $6000 - $8000).
I'd love to see something comparable for Android. Or maybe if enough of us poke the developer with a stick they will make an Android version...
(can't post links, Google Normalware BeBot for developer's site)
I really don't want an iPad as a tablet. But if theres no other way to get this app, I may not have a choice.
Synth2
Sorry for posting in such an old thread.
I have been working on a similar app for Android for some time. I just release, what I call, a Beta version of it. It doesn't have the animations and the settings are quite different. Try it out! I call it "Synth2". All feedback is, of course, most welcome!
Unfortunately I'm not allowed to post links, but here is the URL: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.mejf.synth2
Just letting you know..
I didnt found bebot on android, but i found this >> MorphWiz-Play

Crappy search

Anybody else notice how the search in the xda app tends to bring back every result except the one you asked for? Have a for instance, last night I was searching for this thread (I assumed to be old) pertaining to the myTouch 4g and screen contrast issues. So i type in, glacier myTouch screen contrast. It brings back stuff on the evo, flyer, inspiration, the housing market in 03, and something about grape seeds and the allergic reaction they have towards condalisa rice... So maybe the last two were a lie, but you get my point lol there wasn't even any results from the myTouch 4g section lol

Yeah I hate how the xda app searches. I wish you can search a specific forum or thread instead of all the forums, sub forums etc...
I rarely use the search on xda. I get better result using google for xda specific items.
In my experience, all forums have garbage search routines. I never even use them. Use google instead. Put in your search terms and then put site:forum.xda-developers.com.
Mike
Oh I have no problems finding what i need with google, just the dag blast search engine in the app lol anyone have any female friends on google+ yet lol

My thoughts exactly. I paid for it so I could use it. But i love xda lol they've helped me with a great many phones just wish my searches would work, or like darkman said, links to the app sounds nice as well. Isn't their a way to integrate google search into Apps?

One of the biggest problems is that it sorts the results by date....which if you're looking for an older topic/post...good luck finding that....needs to have options to narrow search results.

App to easily log in and comment on forums?

Hello all,
Just wondering what some of you use to post replies or new posts via your android phone? Is there an app on the market that will allow me to log into forums that I visit and easily browse and post to threads? This forum is certainly one of them I would like easy access to from my phone. Any apps or suggestions instead of actually browsing the site via the web browser?
I see an app called tapatalk that appears to work but don't know much about it and is not free. Don't want to purchase it if it will not work.
I see xda has a market app for this but scared to install based on the comments I see from users.
Any suggestions are appreciated!
Thank you,
--mike
Just buy xda premium on the market, works perfect on my epic 4g, ignore the comments, should have no problems unless ur phone is new and not supported, you can always download the free xda to test it out

Thank you for the reply.
I have a new phone released but I think it will work. Will give it a try.
Do you or does anyone know of an app that allows you to connect to a number of different forums? For example, an app that supports vbulliten, phpbb, etc.
Thanks again,
--mike
Or you can get tapatalk which is an app that works on thousands of forums including xda. Its free on getjar.com but paid for on android market. I use it on a few forums and its great

Thank you all. I was about to buy tapatalk until you mentioned getjar. Surprised to find it free here. Awesome app!

Android app for a small business

I'm looking to create an app for my deli/restaurant and I'm a chef that knows my way around android but nothing on this level. I want to hire an app developer to create a basic app with my menu, specials, Facebook etc. WWW.Faldonis.com is my website (don't laugh at the website... I told ya I'm a chef) to give ya an idea of the menu and feel of my place. I will go in to more details once an app devolper PMS me.
Thanks,
Chef

Its better to have an amateur website than no website at all. IMO, you'd probably be better off developing a decent mobile version of your website. Everything you want can be done through a smartphone browser pretty easily. Plus the same website will work on Android, iOS, Blackberry, etc instead of an app which would work only with one OS.
I can do it

Yeah this is what a dev just pmd me. Makes more sense to have a mobile friendly app. I think it would be neat to have an actual "Faldonis" app that opened the mobile version also. And yes... even though my website isn't easy on the eyes... it does have almost 40,000 visits to the home page
which like you say is better then nothing.

[Q] Developing Android ROM's

OK, so I want to begin developing Android ROM's. I have the necessary technical knowledge and I have access to Ubuntu 64-bit with more than 100gb of Free disk space.
Where do I start?
How do I edit Android, I.e - theme it, change text etc.
Thanks.

Xda university? Ive been wandering this forum for 3 years and this is the 1st time ive ever seen anyone mention this...
Is his defense, the search feature in either the app or website both kinda suck.
Not very intuitive at all...its easier to Google it then click back to the xda link than to try an find it here....just sayin.

Yes I have been using this for years too and never attempt searching on the site or app. Google will help my the site brings up non related content. Also first on xda university. I need to enroll. Where does the line start and how much is tuition? Guess I will have to Google it and see what it is all about.

Kinda guessed that the reply would be "Use the search". I haven't yet seen a guide that shows screenshots of what the code actually does. I.e: before a code change the ui looks like this [Insert screenshot here] and after the code change a Ui looks like this [Insert screenshot here].
I've seen developers create features for their ROMs, like quick settings in notifications and stuff like that. Building the ROM is one thing but adding features is another. I wish their was a complete guide out their.
A lot of xda threads are becoming more like court cases nowadays. I see people with feature requests and then the developer just rudely says "Thanks for Sharing!" And takes no notice as if what someone said was pointless.

That would probably be because it has been asked a few million times (yes, it's an exaggeration but I think you get my point).
A lot of people will be very helpful if you come in here and show that you tried to figure out something on your own. I've read all of this or searched Google and the site and haven't found the info. However, when you come here and ask a question that has been posed over and over again you can start to get a bit of an attitude. It's generally because you have shown no initiative to look or get the info yourself.
Would the guide you want be helpful? Sure would. It's not though so one has to a lot of digging to get the info. That is one of the ways you learn how to do things here at XDA. Then, after learning one can go out and write the guide that is missing.
Here is something for you. A thread explaining how to use Google to search XDA specifically. It's located in a specific device forum but is good for everything (and no, I have never owned a Hermes. I found it by searching ).
