Dear All
This is my first day in XDA. and I'm happy to be part of that great place.
I just got my GT-P7300 2 days ago. ME version but it's not including the Kindle fire app as the other GT-O7300.
any body have it? as it's not in the Market
Thanks And best Regards

You mean the amazon kindle app to read books? It should be in the market try searching for just Amazon, or otherwise download the amazon market from the amazon website i'm sure they have it there.

actually i didn't find it. maybe because of the ME market not showing every thing......thanks

I am currently living in another country and have been unable to get the amazon kindle app to word due to this. This is also an issue for me regarding books through the android market.
Was hoping that someone might be able to help me with a work around for this as I would love to be able get books on here...
Thanks for the help, always greatly appreciated.

10 cent Sale on Apps in Android Market !

Ten day 10 cent sale on selected apps in Market. I grabbed a couple so far.
Read It Later was one, looks very cool.
Check it out, I'm sure you'll find something worthwhile.
Btw... I think they change up the apps offered each day.
so glad they are doing this... i noticed it this morning
ADW EX is supposed to be .10 in the coming days. Their latest update brings some nice ICS elements. I have been going back and forth with Sense and Go Launcher ex and could use a change.
Sent from my Rezound using XDA App
Anyone know what apps are available each day? Is there a published list? I am not an app-a-holic so I am not going to just buy apps just because they are essentially free, lol.
Amazon has some apps for 10 cents as well. I came across it by accident and don't know how to find which ones.
I saw Paper Camera for 10 cents in the Market but when I clicked on it to purchase it said $1.99. So I searched for it at Amazon and they had it for 10 cents! It's a cool app, I like it, takes pics that look like a sketch plus other variations.
Read It Later is worth every cent! I use that App every day. The best part is that everything you save for later is synced to the Cloud. When I got my Rezound it was awesome getting everything synced back to my phone, as I have hundreds of articles saved

I had that issue with another app, I just went back and clicked again and it worked fine in the market!!
I also noticed a bunch of apps for .10 on amazon.
I recommend Paper Camera and Spirit HD which are up for 10 cents today.
I thought I wasn't going to put any games on my phone but Spirit HD is kind of cool.
After having seen that I was asked for some intrusive permissions when installing Paper Camera downloaded from Amazon and googling about it and finding out that if you take the Amazon app off your phone you can no longer use the apps you downloaded from Amazon I decided to uninstall it and install from Android Market. They didn't ask for the same access.
I saw a comment from a developer in an Amazon review of another app that Amazon has DRM so they require more permissions. I don't like that. And I don't think uninstalling the Amazon app should cause me to lose the ability to use apps I paid for!

No luck with Google, anyone tried Amazon?

Hello, I only published one app and was hoping it would at least get me my 25$ back.
I'm from Romania and I don't find 25$ to be a cheap price. The other problem with me being Romanian is that I can't open a merchant account, so I can only post free apps. My option was to use AdMob to get a little income. It wasn't much, having only gathered 4.40$ in 3 months. On top of that, my admob was suspended and I don't know why, I read the rules and as far as I know I didn't do anything wrong. I suspect someone purposely made fake clicks in my app just to mess with me.
I now decided to try Amazon App store, they let me publish paid apps even from my country. I know there were some people who asked for a paid version with no ads. I don't know how to deal with this situation now, I have the google play app which is free but it has a Donate popup. And then there's the same app (not yet approved) but without the donate links on the amazon app store.
Have you ever tried Amazon app store? Do people really buy apps there?
What do you suggest I do?

I had bad experience with Amazon store, they take long time to approve apps.
Imo there is no good enough alternative for Google Play at the moment
Same here, rather bad luck with Amazon to date...

I have tried amazon app store and publish it for free, i see your app is live wallpaper and as i know Kindle users do not like live wallpapers.
i suggest you try slideMe appstore.
Buddy... Wait till google add romania to the merchant list... ..

Both amazon and getjar weren't really useful for me. I did get more traffic from the Opera store. Since my game focuses on in app purchases to make $ it's hard to get traction on any other store since currently I use IAB.
What kind of app did you have? Games I think are most successful with ads, but in the end it depends from app to app, I guess.
You can try Samsung App here: http://seller.samsungapps.com/
I have bad experience with Amazon. Low downloads and last weeks Admob ecpm is extremely low (about 0.05). Has anybody tried to integrate Amazon's banner ads?
Amazon app store is an avenue that developers are still figuring out how to utilize optimally for their purpose.
I agree with most of what has been said here... I don't get even 1% of the amount of downloads from Amazon as I do from Play. In my opinion it is just not Amazon's focus as Play is "THE" store front for apps. I think like most business ventures, it has a lot to do with timing. What kind of niche are your getting into. If super saturated, you may need to create a category within a category in order to reach new users.
You can win Kindle Fire HD now for integrating their api.

Agreeing with previous posters that Google Play doesn't have a good enough alternative yet...
Have tried SlideMe and Amazon and neither have got close to the Play Store in my case.

True, but ARPU on Amazon is far better than on GPlay. Of course GPlay is x10 (at least) when it comes to its reach but if you have a good app, use Amazon's APIs (ads, inapps, etc.) and talk to them, you might get featured. My experience is they actually respond to emails
Amazon Appstore will not make you uber-rich but it's a valid option, much better than GetJar imho.

[Q] Capabilities of the Kindle Fire HDX 8.9

Before hand, I'd like to apologize for my ignorance of not skimming through every thread here and finding the particular information I am looking for.
I do see that at the moment, the Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 cannot be rooted. Now, I've never previously owned any Kindle devices or Amazon products rather, but I want to know what I could do with a rooted Kindle Fire HDX 8.9. I love reading, and have been purchasing near 80 books on Amazon for a ridiculous amount of money─so I am buying a Kindle.
I have owned and do own several Android devices, all rooted, and I know what I can do with them. Is it similar? One thing I have never bothered to look into were custom roms, what would a custom rom on a Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 do? Just change the gui?
My main question is, can I download pdfs, ebooks, MOBI (etc) files and move them to the Kindle to read them without purchasing them from the Amazon store or wherever else?
Thanks guys, appreciate it.

Care to elaborate? What do you mean by "brand"? And where is the thread/software I can use to root it? Tutorial preferably.

brand new brand new units still on rootable software
A brand new Kindle HDX may ship with firmware that is rootable. My HDX 7 was one of them. I don't think there is a guarantee, but when you get a new HDX and go through the setup process, do NOT connect it to a WiFi network. Once it is up, immediately turn on airplane mode and check your version of firmware. If it is rootable, root it and immediately block OTA.

[Q] Options for new Fire HDX in "Lost" mode

Someone accidentally sent my elderly parents a Fire HDX at Christmas (put in the wrong shipping address). When the intended party didn't receive the HDX it was reported "Lost/Stolen" to Amazon and they locked the device so it cannot be registered on Amazon's servers. I spoke with Amazon and they told me that the device is now worthless and should be sent to an electronics disposal facility. (The representative actually said: "Well, the device is yours now so you can do whatever you want with it..." then recommended recycling.) What are my options to make it more useful than a 7" web browser, since that seems to be the only app that works without being registered? It's currently running 4.5.2...

not much on that firmware. & I doubt they will be willing to rollback a blacklisted device
the web browser will still work fine and everything will function normally other than you will not be able to use Amazon services or register the device at all.
if you check down in apps\theme section I believe there is a tutorial to add Google apps without root access http://forum.xda-developers.com/kin...w-to-install-gapps-root-t2954372?goto=newpost
personally I cannot verify you will have to read that thread
You dont have any options at the moment mate...you cannot ask it to be rolled back as its not registered and you cant flash a rom yet as there is no root for 4.5.2...just have to wait mate..
However, you could theoretically sideload any app you want provided it dies not need any amazon authentication. Every app purchased from the amazon app store needs authentication.

Thanks all, I successfully used ADB and sideloaded Gapps from the tutorial in Themes/App, as well as a couple others. It's definitely worth keeping... Even if it's just a portable Minecraft device for my kids!

Well, you can sideload a third-party market such as 1Mobile or Aptoide. They have thousands of apps, and at least Aptoide can do auto-updates, so you won't lose much at all.
