[Q]HDMI audio out via phone speaker only? - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm having a problem with my Atrix today.
First, everything was fine, videos (mp4) were played perfectly in both Webtop mode and Entertainment center. Then I quit the video and played another one, the problem occurred: no sound from the Plasma TV's speakers, only sounds coming from the tiny speaker of Atrix. I played several other videos, still no sound from the TV's speaker, even with ones which used to be good before. I even tried with some mp3s, and the same problem occurred.
Any suggestion? May be my HDMI cable is malfunctioned ?

bump! 5 days and no answers???? Thanks

Problem using TV-Out Function on Vibrant

Hey everyone, I've been having trouble connecting my Samsung Vibrant to my standard definition television, the cable I bought off Amazon was the Amzer 3.5 mm to rca video out cable, and no matter what I do, it doesn't seem to work. I've posted a quick video on youtube explaining my problem, and thanks for any help in advance:
-bobofosho123
I've only use the vid out once, when I first got the phone. I had to push the cable in very hard, there was the first initial click but to get video working I had to push again to get a second click. Also I don't recall the video out working on regular desktop/android screens, only videos from the Youtube app or the gallary app both images or vids. Note, Avatar will not play.
I very much doubt the cable is at fault. Do you have another TV you can test it on? Also you only have two RCA inputs on the front of the TV, is the audio mono? So you just have one vid in and one audio in? If that's the case then the yellow cable is your video in and either your white or red can be used for audio.
hope this helps.
either you dont have the cables plugged in all the way
or the cables broken
i have the same cable and it works flawlessly

HDMI multi channel audio after ICS update

Anyone tested if the issue with 5.1 audio routing only to left speaker over HDMI is fixed in the ICS update? I was wondering if someone tested this with a home theatre receiver for true 5.1 surround.
I'll give this a go tonight (Aus time). So within the next 9 or 10 hours.
Have a Denon AVR2311. (I was experiencing the issue with FW .27, havn't tried since)
Just tried it now when I first test out my HDMI it was pretty bad I unplug it haven't plug it in till now. So far it seems pretty good but it might just be either the video I was playing before was bad or my TV speakers aren't as good as my PC speakers.
Did not work for me.. HDMI to my Anthem MRX 700
Tried 2 5.1 audio movies (avatar,Saving Private Ryan) also a 5.1 audio clip did not work also.
HDMI is now playing on all channels for me on my 2 year old LG lcd. Was only getting left channel before the ICS upgrade, so that's super good news!
Thanks guys! Giggles did you check if the player you are using in ICS affecting sound? Also want to bump this up for more test results from ppl having home theatre receivers.
HDMI out was working fine for me prior to ICS, but I can't say I really noticed what sound type I was playing. Since ICS I get picture, but no sound. I tried with the same video that worked the other night, as well as with Riptide. Perfect picture but absolutely no audio.

[Q] Video stopping using MHL

I have looked around the forums and have found many issues with MHL but none seem to reflect mine.
I bought and MHL adapter, hooked it up, have the phone in a charging state, can see my home screens, and have even played Shadow Gun with little trouble.
It simply won't play videos, it plays maybe a second and then freezes, it doesn't lock up since I can still back out and such. It does this with Mobo, MX, and the stock video players. I have disabled USB debugging and it made no difference. I was really looking forward to watching movies on the TV with this thing. I have tried numerous clips but none work, same deal with Netflix.
It's a stock GB with Touchwhiz from Bell.
Anyone have a solution?
EDIT: Seems to work slightly better with soft decoding set as the default in the movie player. For a while I had the video working well, but audio came out of the phone not the TV.

Bluetooth speaker lag? (Logitech Mini Boombox)

It could just be the way it works, but I'm using the Logitech Mini Boombox with my Transformer Prime when watching movies. The only thing is there seems to be almost a 1 second sound delay which is pretty useless, is there any way to minimise this? (Such as using a custom ROM or player - I'm currently using MX Player) Cheers
What version are you on? what bluetooth speaker are you using?
I can watch videos listening on my bluetooth headphones no problem, when i tried in January to watch a movie on the bluetooth in my car like you said nearly 1 second delay.
No problem now tho, everything works great, im on stock .21.
Maybe its your player as well, maybe its the bluetooh speakers your using, could be a lot of factors give us some more info
I'm on .21 too
The speaker is the logitech mini boombox (http://www.logitech.com/en-us/1201/8725)
I'm using MX Player
Cheers
Same problem with me. I can't use my bluetooth headphones, the delay is too annoying.
idunno what to tell ya, it used to lag for me update fixed it. idunno how idunno why. wish i could be more help :/
Good question.
I got my Bluetooth headset yesterday.
It's the Creative WP 250.
Great sound but I am experiencing a delay watching mkv video on BS player as well..
Is this a common problem using BT headsets and watching video?
It's pretty useless this way.
This problem isn't unique to the Prime. But it is particulary bad on the Prime.
On the Galaxy tab 10.1 I had this problem with BT headphones in all media players except Dice.
On the Prime, I'm getting lag with everything. Dice Player, Netflix...
Wfi on Wifi off doesn't matter. Basically if I use BT headphones, I get video lag.
Its starting to really annoy me. Kind of just want a tablet to work at this point. Finally got a tablet that plays video well, and now I can't use my headphones.
No lag on my Galaxy note or my original Galaxy tab 7. Maybe the Tegra 2 and Tegra 3 chips are to blame. Going to go to Best Buy and test some of the other Tegra 3 Tablets myself and see if they have this problem. Hear lots of people claiming there is no lag on the TF300T, but I suspect some people may not notice it initially or may be more tolerant of less than perfect playback.
Dice player solved my Bluetooth speaker lag problem.

[Q] Issue with Audio Jack Working Only On Some Headphones

Hello Dear Xda,
I am having a very strange issue with the Audio Jack. When I got my phone I used samsung headphones and they seemed to have worked perfectly. Now when I tried using other headphones - i.e. the ones that work perfectly with my other devices, it simply wont register. I put the jack in, but nothing happens. the music keeps playing. I thought its only that headphone so I tried others, such as my Car's cassette adapter still the same issue arises.
Now I tried my mothers phone which is a Galaxy SL and it works perfectly with all the headphones that wont work for me. then I decided to squeez teh headphone a bit harder and turn it around in different directions and it started to work a bit, with terrible quality, but it worked. and if i hold it into a certain awkward position you could hear the sound almost flawlessly.
I have came to the conclusion that my jack might have a problem. But I am not aware how to fix the problem. Cause it works perfectly with some headphones, but it wont with others. Does this requires full change of the jack, or can it be fixed by readjusting it somehow?
inb4: I have restarted the phone several times, changed to factory setting and even changed rom to no avail, so this clearly is no software issue.
Thanks in advance
Replace jack. Should be YouTube videos around/Google search might reveal how to do it, but in all honesty, if you're not competent with microelectronics (like me), take it to someone who knows what they're doing (local mobile repair shop). Shouldn't be expensive to fix as the jack is a cheap part, main component of the fix will be labour.
