Words with Friends and CM9 - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I'm throwing this out there as its kinda driving me crazy, though I kinda know what the answer will be.
I play words with friends have done for a few months now, 2 weeks ago I flashed my Samsung GS2 with CM9 build 01062012 thinking It wasn't going to be stable enough to run as a daily I was shocked at how smooth it was etc.
I've now been using it as a daily and will continue to use it, will just re-flash it when bugs get fixed etc.
Now back to WWF, so I installed this and played it, it seems every other go it freezes my phone, to the point only battery removal will solve it.
I emailed the dev for the game and they said bug fixes were coming, I've had 2 updates in a week and each time it solves it for about a day then goes back to freezing my phone.
The weird part of this is when it freezes I hold power down for 10 secs and it turns off I reboot and once back on, the battery would've lost like 15/20% charge, I had to do this 4 times within an hour the once and my battery went from 80% to 13% just cos of rebooting . Then even more weirdly after deciding not to play the game my phone's charge went from 13% to 20% over a half hour period
Has anyone encountered weird behaviors like this before?
I know that this is a testing ROM would this cause this issue?

Yeah man, I play that **** too and had the exact same problem. I just put it down to cm,9 being an alpha. Sorry I've got no fixes but your not going mad. Ha
I just play it on the iPad instead until the rom becomes more stable.

Well I'll wait until its more stable and then start playing it again, as I'd rather sacrifice the game and have ICS

I have the same issues on kp8 so I tale it its a ics issue not just isolated to cm9

Well I've read the reviews and some ppl have ICS, so they could have Galaxy nexus' or Nexus S', they weren't stating issues.
I think its down to CM9 myself, could be wrong tho.

I'm running the last est nightly and it still freezes randomly, really drives me mad as it crashed 3 times in a row other day taking my battery from 75% to 15% within minutes!
I put it down to running an experimental build

oh.. thats not good. i am on sammy roms just for this reason. Looks like its a problem in Atrix 4G, sensation devices too. but there are some kernel solutions given in those threads. nothing for SGS2 though. in rootzwiki forum someone posted this link http://www.mediafire.com/?9to2pa0tp7m0j1g which is adfree version of words 4.70. try your luck.one friend said it still hangs in his sgs2.

Text lag

Has anyone noticed since rooting their TB that when trying to get into text msg app, it takes about 5 seconds to just open, typing is also super slow? Just started a few days ago, usually a reboot will fix it for a while then it comes back. My phone has the basic Root, no other roms flashed yet but the bloatware is moved over to my sd card.
I have found that this only happens when using a task killer. I havent killed anything in sevral days but this is the culprit, just reboot and id be willibg to bet this wont happen anymore. I the exact same problem, but not sure what i killed that caused this.

[Q] Alien and theme

I am sure I have read posts re Alien and theme not working but cant find them.
Alien works great for me except that I cant get the theme to install (launch). Actually I run the installer form CWM and finishes OK (last version of CWM). I go by the rules. Unlocked, rooted, depeleated battery and recharging 100 %, install Alien, and reboot before the install the theme, clear data/factory defaults before starting everithing, use the Wipe Installer.... what else.. what can I do.. upon installing and rebooting it goes to the HOME launcher, not even the stock Gingerblur, so I have to get rid of that pice of crap
I swithed to Alien from Ronaldo´s ROM, wich is very straightforward and based on Kenn´s and also uses Alien script installer, so I don't have the slightest idea as to what I am doing wrong, missing, or if I am through a bug,
I would appreciate some good soul to help me.
Cheers !!

meaning what you're asking for is old, no longer supported. meaning no one is maintaining it. its a gb based thing. most ppl have moved to ics/jb since its getting closer and closer to being stable. cut your losses and move on in this case means give up on it and find something else. not trying to boss you around with that statement, just saying it as it is

Re: [ROM] 07-22-2012 JELLYBLUR V1.2 CM7.2 - SPJESTER Production
Media volume appears to be jacked up on this ROM. When turning my volume down 3 notches, it almost goes silent. Did I miss a fix in the settings? Sorry to post this under the "Random Q&A" section but it appears that XDA micromanages harder than my boss. Thus, I can't communicate with the actual dev. Yes, I've searched this site as well as Rootzwiki, but have not found an answer. Thanks for your time!

I do like how it gets quiet quickly, however it kind of defeats the purpose if it goes silent before you get to the bottom of your media volume. I think whatever it is it's also influencing the peak volume. Don't get me wrong, I've said it before and I'll say it again: by far the most reliable ROM I've run to date on my Bolt. Thanks for all the time you're investing!

I hope this isn't too late to be noticed/I certainly don't want to add to the trouble you've gone to Jester, but I noticed a force close under menu/settings/sound/volume. Not a big deal, just wanted to bring it to your attention since I didn't see it mentioned on the main thread. Thanks for everything you're doing for the community!
Since I can't post in the dev section, just wanted to say thanks again Jester! 1.3 is fantastic so far! One of the most responsive roms I've ran yet. Only one question / issue so far - I ran the PDroid patch this morning, but when I flash it my bolt freezes on the boot animation. Anyone have any suggestions?

Yea, I cleared the Dalvik and Cache - just tried it again and I got the same freezing. Also, unrelated, on this rom mlb at bat won't let me watch games. It works on any sense roms, but it can't find my location. Did the gps fix and I get a lock within 2 seconds. Otherwise no issues since flashing!

No problem. I wasn't trying to call you out, just confused. To answer your question, it looks like you may have to patch the ROM yourself to make it compatible. This recent version had fixed compatibility issues with a few ROMs, but since Jester's is new I doubt it includes his ROM (even though it's CM based, there are going to be differences). See the screenshot below or visit: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1357056

The baked in Battery Calibration app will do it for you, but it's recommended to barge to 100% before callibrating. You can also clear battery stats through recovery where you would clear your dalvik. There should be an option to clear battery stats.

No reboots....yet... that was my only issue really. Hope it's actually stable :good: looks like I'm gonna be waiting a while for the nexus 4 so it's good to have this phone stable in the meantime
Still has the freeze the first time it uses a custom ringtone bug but I've worked around that by simply making ogg versions and copying them into /system/media
Haven't gotten a reboot yet and hopefully that'll last.
I had an issue of not being able to hear on first call I made. Rebooted and it was fine. Hopefully the random reboots are cured. I'd hate to have to go back to an ICS rom

This is pretty good. No reboots, a couple quirks, most importantly however NEED FOR SPEED: MOST WANTED is actually the most playable on this Rom!
12 hours of average use on my part and running solid. I'm impressed and am thinking of sticking on this version for a while...
For those of you that use MHL adapters, does HDMI work now? I didn't have any luck on any JB roms including CM10 builds. I know i should try for myself but it doesn't hurt to ask, and id rather save myself the 2 hours of re downloading all my apps. Thanks

very solid for me as well and i have been using it since yesterday morning. I tried liquid smooth rc8 today and went back to stable cm10.
No reboots yet on stable.. Nice! :good::good:
Had my first reboot just now NOOOOOO, but it did last longer than other roms I have used. It rebooted when I wanted to make a call and the moment I pressed the phone icon. Phone hangs and reboots =(. I think though I am going to stick with this Rom. It's still pretty solid.
I got reboots about once every 8 to 12 hours... annoying enough I went back to a late October nightly build, more other misc issues, but is not rebooting me.
I hope eventually a Dev can look at what changed in the first couple days of November and figure out what's causing these reboots.
