Not to take anything from that case, Im a machinist . I like it I bet I could build one. I would like it to retain my d30 case for maximum protectionism.

d30 case caused damage on my phone is the worst case ever even new one people have problem fitting phone in it

your complaint on the D3O is the first I have heard, how did a rubber case damage your phone?

If rubber "damaged" your phone why on earth would you go to something that isn't shock resistant? i would never get a metal case xD and for people who cant fit the case on their phone i fell REALLY sorry for them

The phone felt directly on screen and edge of the plastic on left side to screen got dent!

the same exact thing happened to me. The d30 case ,imo, does not fit very well at all. I went and got a cheap tpu case and I feel it protects it better. It comes up higher on the edges to protect the screen.

bought one should be in my hands monday

Just bought the barely There regular one. Love it. Have the Otterbox Commuter as well. Does it kill GPS and cell signal like others posted?
I haven't noticed any difference in signal loss.

I have the same case but in silver. I did notice my GPS position was off with the case on.
I have this case in gray. After one drop and general wear and tear it started to crack. Plus the brushed aluminum back began to peel off. If you're going for looks though it's a great case.

Anyone have an Otterbox Defender?

I have one...
I did not remove the screen protector. Instead I removed my ZAGG IS. I like the built in one. However removing the plastic one is not hard at all. Its just glued in place.
Wasn't worried about the ease of removing so much as the feel...its kinda springy if u know what I mean ...its starting to annoy me some lol
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
I bought mine on Saturday but I am taking it back because of the built-in screen protector.
Not only does it not sit flush with the glass (which is why it's "springy") but it distorts the quality of the screen horribly.
Getting my money back and sticking with my Diztronic TPU
Wow I removed it because it was too springy and it feels way better with my ghost armor screen protector!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
I don't think Otterbox took into account the weirdly concaved screen. I agree with the feel of it, spongy. But i also don't like how the sides are squared off, as opposed to more rounded on the previous versions I've used on other devices. The accessory plugs are hard to open and close. If you take the silicon cover off, you notice there's no grab rail for the silicon in the corners. Its hard to lock into the holster. Feels unnatural when taking it out if the holster and I've used a defender for over a year previous.
I'm OK with all the feeling because I was using a commuter it seems much like the commuter to me...
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
On every device I have ever had a defender series I just cut away the plastic shield it sucks one I do that I toss on my own screen protector and enjoy!
Sent from my SGH-I747M using xda premium
I just got my defender today.I like it feels fine had the commuter before this one the commuter does feel more rigid but I like not having to worry on screen. The holster does look odd will have time to test that tomorrow
Keep in mind that there are two different varieties of the defender floating around for the s3 it seems.

Did you purchase directly from Otterbox? I purchased at local att store. After4 days, no better. Thinking of calling Otterbox and complaining.
Deleted.
I bought from AT&T but now outs returnd the screen was grainy may be that's what was meant by springy... I bought back a commuter but don't want to deal with adhesive protector yet want to have a protected screen

My s3 screen is the perfect size for me feals like a mini tablet only problem is im worried it will break.
Now should i get an otterbox or anouther case to protect it?
I've been rocking with the cruzerlight TPU case for a while now and it does wonders. Doesn't make it too thick, adds grip, and is very protective, check it out

Dont worry man.
Its gorilla glass... wont break so easily.
I already dropped mine a hundred times. It hasnt got even a scratch.
Still, if you want to protect it that much, use a screen protector and put a case around your phone that covers your phone a little from front. This way, even if your phone falls, your screen will not have direct contact with ground and it wont break.
Bump lol.

Bro, are you serious that you had drop your S3 for a hundred times? I had watch drop test video from Youtube, the S3 broke once it's drop. But I admit that gorilla glass 1 had a very strong screen. But not gorrila glass 2 which using in S3. Correct me if I had wrong.

Anodized Back Door

Anyone know if there is an anodized back door to replace the plastic one? I think a full anodized body would look sweet on the evo!
Sent from my EVOLTE
dont think there is one as the antenna is attached to the back of that plastic door.
I think I read somewhere the reason its plastic is because the metal interfered with the nfc.

I would imagine so, as plastic allows the signal to transfer through much much better than metal/aluminum!! I know from experience as I had the Asus Prime(TF201), before upgrading to the Asus Infinity(TF700T) which has a plastic section on the top/back of the body. The Prime did not and suffered from poor Wifi, Bluetooth, and GPS performance. GPS is so bad that Asus sent out a free GPS dongle to all Prime owners who wanted one. The Infinity is amazing and gets great signal thanks to the plastic strip integrated in to the body.

In addition to what has already been said, our device isn't as popular as we'd like it to be so there's very little in the way of customized aftermarket parts. It's sad really, as it's nigh impossible to even find a plastic door with a different color.

Just thought of this, too: our battery door isn't just a piece of plastic. It also contains antenna strips necessary for our phones to work properly, so it's not as simple as just making molds of the part.

Only the EVO, all of the other HTC 2012 devices with NFC do not have any removable parts or doors. It is however located in the same area.
Actually all the antennas are under that plastic panel IIRC. So using metal isn't really a good idea. People already complain about poor signal using metal for the panel will have even more folks whining.

anyone tried plastidipping the gloss door part?
Safe to do as long as you can seal the inside. Those antenna strips have to be left dry.

Otterbox Commuter case Q?

I just obtained an Otterbox Commuter case and stopped using my Defender because the Commuter will fir in my iBolt car charger. It's ok if it drops, it has a case
But seriously, I have the exact same case and it gets knocked off the table, couch, bed a couple times a week. I have a 4 year old who likes to play games on it and isn't always the most careful with it. The case does a good job of protecting it from 2-3 feet drops. I think the plastic spray would make it look like crap and not worth it. Just my opinion but good luck.

That and I had the defender case before but hated it because of the rubber outside. It made it a pain to put into and remove from my pocket. That's something else to think about. You don't want the coating catching/collecting things as well like your pocket, lint, dust, etc.

That is true but if the coating starts to scratch off or whatnot I will apply another coat. I'm going to buy the stuff and spray it on something else first and let it sit first to see if I'm going to like the feel. The silicone sleeve that comes with the Commuter is a HUGE dust/particle magnet as it is. I have to wipe it off on something a couple times a day, the rubber outer on the defender was no where near as bad as the silicone on the commuter.

Well to anyone who cares I applied 2 coats of black Plasti Dip to the hard plastic outer shell and its much better now! I can hold the phone with one hand and move it back and forth and it's not going anywhere! I don't think it will last too long but the bottle said its easy to remove and ill just spray a few more coats on it if I still like it I guess.
