Would anyone please theme the original Xperia Arc keyboard to black?
I really like this keyboard..but I would love to have it in black.

I'd say, just wait a month for the Xperia S The keyboard there is themed in black, and will probably be backported very fast once the software gets out in the wild.
Back when I was working on the X10, I had made this ROM which includes a themed black keyboard extracted from the Arc 2.3.4 firmware. You can download the ROM and get it from the zip. I would do it for you but I'm not on my PC right now.

Can't you simply install the textinput.apk from the system/app folder in the zip she gave you?? You need just root explorer and 10 seconds of spare time.

Absolutly no problems for me..but a friend of mine is a "retard" on phones..and I cant stand explaining to her how she does this..so I give her the update.zip instead.hehe.

I tried the file in the Rom. Didnt work for me. The keyboard changed, but not to black
I moved it over, set permissions, moved to system/apps and the keyboard I got seemed to be an earlier android stock one.
My phone is a sim unlocked arc s, rooted using installer from this board.
Any further help or suggestions?

Hey! Just tried with one of kormatoes keyboard mod, and it works perfectly. You have to bring the textinput-tng.apk from the folder system/app and paste it in you phone's system/app folder, changing the permissions of the apk to rw-r-r! Then just reboot your phone...tried just now to check and everything works.

few hours finished will be on my signiture

are you sure i can just use Root Explorer to replace the old framework?
won't the screen go black then you won't be able to set permissions properly?
i've done the ADB route before, but using Root explorer is so much easier.
tho i haven't tried it when replacing system files...

well what i did was: went to system/framework and edited the framework-res permissions .. just checked all of them
then i copied the file from here into my sdcard, moved it using root explorer to system/framework, and it tells u "do u want to replace" click yes/ok and it will replace and u should click on/off button and it will reboot! if u get "u do not have permisions" just check "remount R/o or Remount r/w" then move it, it should work.
i went the ADB route again...
safer for me...and here are my screenshots!

I've spend hours attempting this but... the XML is compiled if I extract stuff with NinjaMorph. So I thought of making the background on the content part white like in the Gingerbread theme... but then I the APKManager gave me a lot of errors during the compilation. Then I tried the APKTools method... and it was too complicated for me to continue. So unfortunately I'm too incompetent to make this theme work for my phone
The black text on dark background is a huge usability block. I don't really mind that the theme isn't completely finished, but if only that notification part could be fixed I will be able to use this theme (which matches the rest of the theme of my phone).
I think the corresponding files are status_bar_item_app_background_normal.9.png and/or status_bar_item_background_normal.9.png.
If anyone is able to recompile this apk with the stock version of those pngs (or the Gingerbread one), it would be so awesome.

1-extract framework-res.apk using 7zip
2-open the original framework-res.apk using 7zip(right click>7zip>open archive
3-edit the files in extracted framework-res.apk and replace original files opened in 7zip by drag and drop.
4-upload to your phone.

I like this theme better than pulpoffs version
Is it possible to mod the phone.apk and contact.apk ( i find highly incompetent and irritating) or replace them with the aosp versions? I tried but the new contacts don't show up and with up try to replace phone.apk your network stops working
any ideas?

I don't know why, but after 'install' this theme Android Market doesn't work for me. When I'm choosing app, and clicking "Download", download starts but after 100% Market turns off and I haven't got app on my phone...
Can somebody post original framework from X8 2.1 ?

Do you think it would be worth having a thread with links to a range of useful files?
Like these, the rooted system images, ftf files for different ROMs etc...
I had a post at the end of my guide a little like that but I'm just not sure if it's worth the hassle of trying to update it all the time.

I deleted that, it didn't tell me anything the status bar doesn't already.
If I have missed calls or text indicator in the status bar I check it.

The image for each button is in SystemUI/res/drwaable HDPI(ics_sysbar_back,recent,home,menu) in case u want to change it.

yes thanks i just copy/pasted my backed up default framework, restarted and it got fine...
but i am having an issues installing the on screen on.rar . As i installed it via cwm the middle (default square checkbox) menu button on home screen goes little up than the left and right icons, what is the solution for that ?!

even if it is resized i understand they would just move up, but not that up that an icon as u see in image i posted has gone too up, for that icon the size is mis caliberated for sure and should be corrected if someone know's how to

well seems to be a problem, well i liked this but i will not use it as its not calibrated properly on home screen and on arc s already three hardware buttons and three more even though in capacitive but duh! i feel agitated with it

I bought BL device, just like my Z1 - on purpose.
So, I'll help all devs here to get this beauty rooted without unlocking bootloader (don't know much about security and exploits but OK, we can all help with a few bucks)
In a meanwhile, I just want to say you all "hi" and if you need anything I know, I'll gladly help.
You can ask here or send PM for anything related to theming, bootanimation, rooting, flashing and similar things...

Just one thing I don't like: the color of the default bootanimation. It would be great to have a modded bootanimation based on stock but with a different blue or color (green, red...).

We can resist to Z2
Just one thing I don't like: the color of the default bootanimation. It would be great to have a modded bootanimation based on stock but with a different blue or color (green, red...).

Already did for Z1, try that one...it should be OK but I added "Honami" text into it so I'll have to change that...

I'm quite sure I didn't made flashable zip.
Remember, all bootanimation are in zip format.
First:
Delete yours bootanimation.zip from system/media (or copy it somewhere on your sdcard for backup)
Now take bootanimation.zip that yoy download , copy it to /system, change permissions to 0644 (best using root browser).
Move that file to system/media and restart

I just "discovered" smartband...
I thought that's something useful only for runners and similar users...
But I found out it's really good gadget.
I'm using Omate Truesmart (smartwatch) even I don't like it (I don't hate it, its nice but I don't need it)...
I was using it just to go get notified when my phone is ringing or I have notification (Tapatalk, sms, Hangouts...)...
I haven't got a clue this little gadget could actually do the same...
Sony could add a little LCD on it to show time but then... who would buy Sony SmartWatch
Day by day Sony approving I was wrong about Z2 and this smartband - both worth every penny...

On Z1 I had small app notepad (or similar can't remember name) to cache notes.
Can't remember name and can't find it on market...
My Z1 isn't here at the moment and I really need that...
