Cool story bro.
(Prepare for lots of people to come in and complain about their gps)

Have to say mine is Similar GPS just worked, Wifi is decent for what it is, work all around my house without losing connection, Haven't tried BT yet, Drove all over Detroit with mine with Wiggle Wifi up for a Class project, and it never skipped a beat, GPS locked within a minutes of launching program.
Dad bought one about a Week before me, GPS does not work, Haven't checked S/Ns yet but his is also updated to ICS where mine is not, I decided to stay back on Honeycomb for a bit

My 32gb wasnt working earlier. I tried again inside my house and got 7 satellites in a few seconds.
Do u need internet connection to use maps because it wont open without it?
I just figured if u had GPS that's all u needed.

Seeing as the Thrive has no 3g connection you will need a wifi connection to get MAPs in Google maps as there downloaded from the server as needed, there sued to be a way to D/L them before hand though i don't know if it exists anymore

Maps pulls all of its data from Google servers, in particular initially (it'll cache some data afterwards), and so you do need an Internet connection when you first start it up. And, it'll use wifi-based location services to locate you on the map, so it's not a good test of whether GPS is working.

Very weak signal compared to other devices, and this has come up a million times, yes it works. Yes it has a very weak signal.

Keeps getting better every time I use it. Why do screen shots look so bad? Is there a setting for them? I guess there is a setting but it doesnt look much better. If I used the rooted screenshot app it would look better.

Because yours work, does that mean the many people who have problems with GPS connection do not know what they are talking about? Congratulations on getting a Prime with no issues. Who says GPS does not work? I say mine does not. Not at all. Not one satellite and don't get me started on the weak a$$ wifi. BTW, how far from your router can you go for a strong wifi connection with your Prime compared to your other wifi devices?

Weak! Im guessing this is your first device with GPS. My prime performs like yours and I rather use the GPS over BT in a combo with my Atrix. I will no longer need GPS on the prime once the note hits the streets.

Wifi cracking for the HTC?

I jsut want to know if there is anything that can sniff/crack wifi's for the HTC.?
hmmm, not to do the work but this can scan networks and capture packets for another machine to analyse:

Work on it was discontinued a hiwle ago and I'm not sure how it'll run on WM6 and a Titan.

I don't want to do anything too wrong like snoop on people etc, I just want something I can use whilst at a bustop and log onto the local 7-11/esso/macks/subways etc wireless network and use internet.
That sounds like some fun stuff to kill time while waiting for transit...I just can't seem to find the CommView for WiFi PPC anywhere for download....Any luck anywhere else?
wififofum is a great wardriving software and it will tell you all the networks around and give you their signal strength and encryption type (if any). You might be able to at least find open networks this way....
WiFiFoFum is definitely the best out there right now for what you want.
Enjoy.

Our phones dont support promiscuous mode which is that it wont alow us to capture random flying data. and all WiFiFoFum does is tell where a wifi hotspot is thats all. Best thing to do saddly is get a laptop with a wificard that can support promiscuous mode put on BackTrack Linux and then crack the password that way my friend and I wrote a program last year that cracks passwords but all it does it sends random passwords to the router which drains the battery to fast to even use the phone once cracked. I'll look for the program and post the CAB for it if i can find it.
He asked for a program for our phones that can sniff Wifi. That is exactly what WiFiFoFum does. Yes, it does not "crack" wifi, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out which ones are open and which use security. Good luck trying to find a program for the Titan that can "crack" wifi passwords.

No comparison between the fun of cracking a wep and having to pay the man for a slower connx where my provider can tell what I am doing, give me the link for that cab dc13!!
Gcincotta you are probably right that no prog will crack those connections on its own, although wififofum radar is great for wardriving on all networks. I will continue to use backtrack when I am about and need to connect to whatever is closest.

I just got this and am using it, but I got an error that the titan's wifi doesn't support promiscuous mode.
Gcincotta or Carlos, is this true? FYI - I chose "IEEE 802.11b/g Compatible Wi-Fi Adapter" for the adaptor to monitor.
Looked promising until I saw this message. Could this work as an "external" wifi card (if promiscuous mode is an option)?

I just revised the manual and this is what I found
" 2.1.2 Drivers
Once you have the appropriate hardware, you still need to ensure that your OS has
the right drivers to use that hardware. This can be a tricky part of getting a sniffer to work
properly, and it is why many sniffers either run on Unix based OSs, or require a special
driver to be installed before it will work in Windows.
In the case of the mobile Windows environment, most general-purpose local sniffers
will work with any WNIC without the need for a special driver or patch. Assuming your
WNIC is working before a sniffer is installed and the sniffer program is compatible with
your card, you will need no extra drivers. This said, if you want to perform wireless
sniffing, your sniffing will be limited. Currently there are no publicly available drivers
that make true promiscuous sniffing a reality for the Pocket PC. Instead, you will only
have access to networks with which your WNIC can associate, and then with only one at
a time. There are ways around this, but it would require you to purchase specialized
hardware and software costing several thousand dollars"
I personally haven't tested this on my XV6800 YET! But I am hoping to get it to work.
Sweet. That sounds friggin beautiful.

Here's the deal with the Titan. Even though Airscanner has promiscuous (monitor) mode, the Titan Wifi hardware does not support it. It only supports active mode. Injection also will not work, so even if the Titan's Wifi COULD be used in promiscuous mode, I hope the OP plans to sit in the same place for hours and hours while trying to crack the network.

Gps with Turn by Turn Software?

Hi all, Im looking to buy an external GPS for my Wing. I use Google maps alot, and I was wondering if I buy an external gps, will it constantly update my location? If not, is there a program out there, perhaps one that would come with the GPS, that would gimme a view like this? Or something similar?

Any info is appreciated. Thanks!
iGo6 is the best that I have found. It works well with the wing. iGo8 is out, but it uses a lot of resources and has a tendency to freeze up. There are quite a few programs, nd most of them have the same kind of format.
I use tomtom navigator 6, version 7 is about to be released as well. 'preview' version can be found on the net.
Would I need to buy a specific GPS Dongle? Or if I bought a random one off Ebay, Like a generic one, would it work just as well with those programs?
Any generic Bluetooth GPS receiver should work. I would do a little research before you buy, because you can find some sweet deals on some good receivers, or else you could get a sweet deal on a crappy receiver. I don't know a lot about them, but when I was shopping for mine about 3 mon ago, there were a lot to be found. Google is your friend with this kind of thing.

I used to have IGO6 but for some reason it never displayed the maps I got that's why I just decided to get rid of it... (that was before I found out about this forum)
I've been using Copilot Live 7 (ALK Technologies) on the Wing with an external Bluetooth GPS for a few months now. It does use a fair amount of memory so you may have to close down some processes before using it, but the software is stable and works well. Turn by turn directions, national map database on the MicrosSD card, voice instructions, etc.
BTW, running the Wing on an Aserg ROM, not the TMO factory one...
TomTom
Tom Tom is the best that I have used. I bought a generic GPS off eBay that cost me around $60 and tried several (Delorme, iGo, Google, etc.) then I got the Tom Tom PPC CD image off torrentz. Works like a charm! Need at least 1gb card though. It takes the whole thing if thats all you have. Thats why I bought an 8gb. Tom Tom is awesome!! You can search for a gas station or restaurant and just click on it with your finger and it automatically calls them for you. Just MY recommendation...
I've got TomTom 7 running on my Wing just fine, and that's the software I can only recommend for its clean layout and ease of use.
PS: Isn't iGo 8 the current version of that package? That's what I was playing around with the other day.
Im using an iBlue 737 bluetooth puck with Nav4All. Works pretty darn well for a free program, not as fancy looking as TeleNav or most of the others, but still does the job. Check out www.buygpsnow.com for external GPS receivers.
Garmin XT works great with the Wing. You will need to get a bluetooth gps receiver. Garmin does have those as well if you want to stick with everything being Garmin.
I can recommend you an Holux GR-236. I used that one during my Nijmegen march for GPS Trakking. It comes with a handy accu from Nokia, some differnt equiment like a car charger.
The device has a SIRF III Chip, what makes it stable with nearly no connection loos. I used the program "NoniGPSPlot", you can find the result under http://www.schaefers-daheim.de -> Nijmegen 2008-> the first one.
Have fun
Anyone Try iGuidance 4?
I've been using it for a few months now and it seems pretty good. Has voice guided turn-by-turn w/spoken street names.
Check it Out
I don't need the software...anyone have any gps dongles they'd recommend for the Wing?

Any one have a IGO8 without freezing ? I Use the TomTom, but I love the IGO8
i was using TomTom5 for a while
now i am using TomTom7 successfully.
the new Versions have big advantages
- when you are using the Touchscreen (what i am doing the most time)
- when you are at low memory (it is able to stop TouchFlow 2d)
GPS:
i am Using "Blumax GPS 710" (with TT5 and TT7) i am sure it's outdated because some new models from Blumax are accessible now.
but it's capacity is great normaly i am able to use it for 12 hours before i have to charge it again.
Im Using Google Nav 5.2 its aosum with my Mavin SiRF lll its pretty smoooth no problems but i recommend Google Nav if u hav the cash for it.

Highly Polished Turd

For the record, I was really trying not to rant about my Prime...
C1OKAS s/n. GPS in-op. Bt/Wifi - good. Connected my Jawbone Icon and then started watching Archer on Netflix (A2DP to Icon), never experienced wifi degradation. So that seemed good. Wifi reception was as good as my OG Evo 4g and Asus 1018P netbook.
Updated to ICS out of the box. Rooted after it became apparent that I needed to.
So to begin the rant: This tablet is useless out of the box. I stream my movies from my desktop (.wmv b/c that's what my samsung tv accepts) from my computer - the prime can't. Downloaded dice player free - super choppy, will work it out later. Started dl'ing apps n actually paying for them since I now have an interface that is more user-friendly (in size). Couldn't wait to go to work and use it through out my day--------SCREECHING HALT!!! NO AD HOC WIFI SUPPORT IN ICS!!! Which means no tethering to our phones. At this point I was letting some things go, i.e. the excessive light bleed all across bottom and right side, the in-op GPS, the inabilty to stream movies on my existing network, and the buggy interface that kept making apps appear and disappear on my home screens. So now I am in the worst situation of all, I have to RMA it to Asus b/c I made 2 noob mistakes while fixing my ad hoc issue. I rooted so I could use certain apps, then realized I can fix ad hoc support. So I started working on that and accidentally changed my '/system/bin' folder to '/system/bin - Copy'. This was a slip of my finger and that was that. Couldn't change it back for whatever reason. Then I made the grave mistake of rebooting. Haven't gotten passed the Eee Pad screen since. Tried many many things to no avail. So at this point, I made a big mistake and I am Boned b/c Asus thought it wise to lock the bootloader. Otherwise, I could've rooted and loaded a custom recovery yada yada, backed up, restored.....
I will end this saying that I have a $750+ paper weight b/c of my own actions, but this never would have happened if I had an unlocked bootloader, ad hoc support, and more basic functionality that modern electronics are expected to come equipped with. Asus, you have made one damn fine looking device, but where the hell is the functionality that we have come to expect from you? My Asus 1018P netbook has bluetooth 3.0 and usb 3.0 and I bought it 2 years ago! Why doesn't this tablet have much more functionality out of the box? It definitely has a steep learning curve and this is exactly why Android is always going to be in second place! Make a damn finished & functioning product before releasing it for Christ sakes!
Yeah yeah I know......Cool Story Bro. Don't flame me for being right. I was hoping/expecting to get a good one, but apparently the flaws are more widespread than I imagined.
AFAIK, there has been no AD-HOC support in ANY Android tablets I have tried out of the box. This held true for the Xoom (had to root and custom rom before it worked) and the Toshiba Thrive. I did not expect AD-HOC to work out of the box at all honestly.
That said, Sprint Hotspot works perfectly.
Honestly, I do not think it fair that you would be pissed at the device because you caused the damage trying to make it do something that it natively did not have support for. I am all for tinkering, rooting, etc....but I am aware that there may be unforeseeable consequences that go along with it.
I wifi tether to my phone with my prime all the time. Unless I'm missing something and you're using a method other than portable hotspot?

Sounds like you've got infrastructure capes on your phone. Not all of them do and require an ad hoc connection. ICS doesn't suppor the later.
We already have ad hoc network tethering working on ICS. Check out QnA section on how to enable it again. Very simple, requires root though. Its the thread created by lock n load.
A bit off topic but I'm curious why are you guys tethering from the tablet to your phone? If you're worried about data usage because of data plan caps why don't you make the phone connect to the same wifi source the prime is connecting to? Idknwhat ad-hoc is so maybe someone can fill me in why u would connect to wifi just to make it go from the prime to your phone.

I think they mean tethering from phone to the prime. Or if you have a laptop with wireless card, you could tether that connection to the prime.

I believe you can download the original rom image from asus's website, put the rom on a micro sd card and flash it thru the stock recovery.
search the forum, i think someone have brick the prime and fixed it that way...
good luck.
Movies seems to work fine for me using Splashtop or one of the VLC apps.
What about MKV files??
VLC Pro works awesome.
So you have a few problems:
1) You want to stream video with the most crappy, worst supported and most hated codec ever: WMV(Windows Media Video) ? The fact that that's the only format your Samsung TV supports, does only say something about your Samsung TV. The Prime plays almost every format I trow at it just fine, even High profile 1080p h264 MKV files. Most other "Premium" tablets can't do this. My advice is: use a normal video codec, and the file will play just fine.
2) You rooted your tablet, and renamed the entire /system/bin/ folder, thus bricking you device. I feel sorry for you, but you sound like the Prime is to blame.
3) Then the rant about a locked bootloader. You're right...this is something ASUS should never have done, but you know you can probably flash every original firmware(they are signed so they do work with the current bootloader) back right. I've seen this mentioned elsewhere.
4) Ad Hoc WiFI: My Prime connects without problem to my phone(Nexus One with ICS 4.03). Maybe it has something to do with encryption, because with WPA2-PSK with password set Wifi hotspot works fine. Even without rooting.
I am so thankful you seem to be the only one who has figured out that we should have a post about complaints on this tablet.
WAIT..... I am sorry - I am mistaken. There are 15,000 threads about this stuff already. You must have thought your thread would be more special. My apologies.

Help, what is that Smartwatch?

Hi,
I recently bought a Motorola Moto 360 (2nd Gen) from ebay. It was hard to find, I live in Germany and I couldnt find new watches under 400€. So I bought a watch from ebay which was manufacturer refurbished.
Yesterday it arrived and I really do have some questions and I dont understand some stuff:
1. The seller said it was manufacturer refurbished. But it doesnt look like it was. From ebay's description it should be cleaned, and it didnt look cleaned when it arrived. Besides the glass there is coming out glue which is really hard to remove for me now.
2. A friend also has the watch but did buy it original. My watch has 4 "stamps" on its back (look image). My friend doesnt have those. Also the metal latch to change the band does not exist. How can I change my band now? The software on it says, its model is "smelt". My friends watch just says Moto 360 model.
What the **** is my watch? There is almost nothing of information about that codename smelt.
And also on its front side the bottom part which is not part of display is black of my friends watch, mine has motorola logo which seems to be a small sticker that was glued too much above the display... (image 2).

If you need more information, let me know. But please tell me if this watch is some kind of fake moto 360 2nd gen... I am really curious about that.
Seems you have some development version of the moto 360. Check this:
http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/moto-360-android-wear-smartwatch-sequel-codenamed-smelt-likely-pack-high-resolution-screen-1494946
Well that's also not much information, were I tricked?
Am I able to change the bands with that watch?
I found out more stuff now: On this watch is a userdebug build installed of a totally outdated Android Wear Firmware. Is there any way to update it manually to the latest? Because the OTA just says its up 2 date but it isnt.
Changing bands is no problem as all band were like that before the quick release bands became available less than two years ago. This video may br helpful: https://youtu.be/TtPde-M5Xz0
By the way, this is the type of band I use.
I'm not sure a pre-release version of the watch is updatable, but check to see that the version of Android Wear is up to date on your phone.

Updatable via OTA probably not, but is it possible by flashing it? I mean there is no physical input/output on the watch. But is there any possibility when I open the back of the watch and creating an USB cable ?
Is there official up 2 date ROMs on the internet which I can simply flash over the current one?
Edit: I just noticed that my watch is rooted. I wanted to debug the watch via bluetooth and tried to ls /system directory which first failed because of permission. Then I entered su and tried the command again, and it showed me the whole contents of /system partition.
But nevertheless, I am not able to get into recovery. When I power down the watch, hold the power button that long after it vibrates 2 times in row, release the power button, the bootloader appears. In internet they say, by just clicking the power button once for a short time will change the selected option to get for example into recovery mode, but when i click the power button, the watch just shutdowns. If i hold it longer it also shutdowns instantly.
So I am not able to get into recovery unfortunately. So it might probably not even be possible for me to flash another rom even if i would have found the pin's for the usb cable right?
Edit²: As I said i debugged using bluetooth and just came up with an idea. I remembered with adb its possible to reboot into different modes...
Reboot to bootloader, reboot normal, reboot to recovery. And rebooting to recovery actually worked I guess...
I got a screen with android buddy and a red warning signal. Guess what's just missing is a cable that can upload/flash the ROM or a custom recovery to the watch.
Now a question, i found an official moto 360 twrp recovery. I guess i cant flash this to the watch's second generation.. ?!
What is missing now is really just the usb connection
...it is preproduction testing unit and it can have little different hardware

WiFi strength, range, and throughput

Rate this thread to express how you think the POCO M3's Wifi performs. A higher rating indicates that it has excellent range, throughput, and signal strength. Like when you're taking a dump in the bedroom upstairs, do your videos have to buffer or do they come through without interruption?
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
It's a little bit worse than my Redmi Note 7 with a SD660, but it's good enough.
Haven't had any issues to date with WiFi and or data
I found it really good and catch really well my 5GHz wifi signal.
Really good.
Good
in my poco m3 the wifi and bluetooth suddenly got very weak signal, does anyone know how to solve this problem?

My M3 doesn't have wifi problems, except that the maximum downloading speed is only about 100Mbps.
Bluetooth works very well on my M3.
Maybe you can try updating MIUI, or factory reset, if both don't work, maybe you need to bring it to Xiaomi service center?

If it is hardware's issue, there is nothing you can do other than bringing it to service center for repairing.
If you still want to try fixing it with software, you can unlock the bootloader, and then use Mi Flash tool on a computer to flash the fastboot ROM, with the clean all and lock option.

the issue begun on miui 12.0.6 update, before on 12.0.4 and 5 wifi/bluetooth was fine with a good reception, somethimes the issue simple goes away and after a week or two goes back with weak wifi/bluetooth, me and some m3 users have this issue with the same way
