Help, what is that Smartwatch? - Moto 360 2015

Hi,
I recently bought a Motorola Moto 360 (2nd Gen) from ebay. It was hard to find, I live in Germany and I couldnt find new watches under 400€. So I bought a watch from ebay which was manufacturer refurbished.
Yesterday it arrived and I really do have some questions and I dont understand some stuff:
1. The seller said it was manufacturer refurbished. But it doesnt look like it was. From ebay's description it should be cleaned, and it didnt look cleaned when it arrived. Besides the glass there is coming out glue which is really hard to remove for me now.
2. A friend also has the watch but did buy it original. My watch has 4 "stamps" on its back (look image). My friend doesnt have those. Also the metal latch to change the band does not exist. How can I change my band now? The software on it says, its model is "smelt". My friends watch just says Moto 360 model.
What the **** is my watch? There is almost nothing of information about that codename smelt.
And also on its front side the bottom part which is not part of display is black of my friends watch, mine has motorola logo which seems to be a small sticker that was glued too much above the display... (image 2).

If you need more information, let me know. But please tell me if this watch is some kind of fake moto 360 2nd gen... I am really curious about that.

Seems you have some development version of the moto 360. Check this:
http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/moto-360-android-wear-smartwatch-sequel-codenamed-smelt-likely-pack-high-resolution-screen-1494946

Well that's also not much information, were I tricked?
Am I able to change the bands with that watch?
I found out more stuff now: On this watch is a userdebug build installed of a totally outdated Android Wear Firmware. Is there any way to update it manually to the latest? Because the OTA just says its up 2 date but it isnt.

Changing bands is no problem as all band were like that before the quick release bands became available less than two years ago. This video may br helpful: https://youtu.be/TtPde-M5Xz0
By the way, this is the type of band I use.
I'm not sure a pre-release version of the watch is updatable, but check to see that the version of Android Wear is up to date on your phone.

Updatable via OTA probably not, but is it possible by flashing it? I mean there is no physical input/output on the watch. But is there any possibility when I open the back of the watch and creating an USB cable ?
Is there official up 2 date ROMs on the internet which I can simply flash over the current one?
Edit: I just noticed that my watch is rooted. I wanted to debug the watch via bluetooth and tried to ls /system directory which first failed because of permission. Then I entered su and tried the command again, and it showed me the whole contents of /system partition.
But nevertheless, I am not able to get into recovery. When I power down the watch, hold the power button that long after it vibrates 2 times in row, release the power button, the bootloader appears. In internet they say, by just clicking the power button once for a short time will change the selected option to get for example into recovery mode, but when i click the power button, the watch just shutdowns. If i hold it longer it also shutdowns instantly.
So I am not able to get into recovery unfortunately. So it might probably not even be possible for me to flash another rom even if i would have found the pin's for the usb cable right?
Edit²: As I said i debugged using bluetooth and just came up with an idea. I remembered with adb its possible to reboot into different modes...
Reboot to bootloader, reboot normal, reboot to recovery. And rebooting to recovery actually worked I guess...
I got a screen with android buddy and a red warning signal. Guess what's just missing is a cable that can upload/flash the ROM or a custom recovery to the watch.
Now a question, i found an official moto 360 twrp recovery. I guess i cant flash this to the watch's second generation.. ?!
What is missing now is really just the usb connection

...it is preproduction testing unit and it can have little different hardware

However, when i open htc camera my device slows up a lot, then if i close htc camera all become normal.
So i don't know how to solve this, i hope only that isn't an hardware fault as cmonex said and hope anyone can help me and my athena's camera to live again.
Thanks for reading,
Michele.
Have you tried a hard reset?
For what is worth, my camera also doesn't work - it looks just like yours - black.
I have your ROM installed and I always assumed that is somehow ROM related, but I haven't really tried the camera when I got my Athena (it's not really important for me...) first time I have tried to use it was when I already flashed 1.88 ROM and now with 2.04 ROM.
My camera stopped and i saw just a green screen when i do a soft reset it is start again , i use the micky lastest rom , And in this day I see some buges on camera
it doesn't depend upon my rom, tried to change some roms (original too) but nothing, it remain black
I have been using MiChY's ROM 2.04 MiChY Diamond Edition (5.2.20273, build 20273.1.3.3), camera works normally.
have you tried another camera software like CoolCamera
Time to visit the service centre.
i can't even get my camera to initialise!!!
It was fine until I upgraded the spl in order to play with the new roms. Surely the balance of probabilty would suggest that a hardware failure is less likely than a problem with spl or the rom?
Even downgrading the spl and using michy's rom has not helped
Is it posible to manually install the camera?
i never changed spl. Only installed 1.2 olipro, from there no other change to spl.
I do not remember if my athena has fallen down but i think not.
So this is an internal problem. Now i can view, not only i have this problem too...hope to find a solution

I would suggest you and the likes try flash back the factory ROM on the device and see if that helps any. If it does from there, you can start fine tuning to see excatly what's going on. Just my 2 cents, and today I noticed some green lines but that might have been due to me focusing on my monitor at work to snap a shot of the webpage I was on. I'm using AP 4.0 with 3.5SPL if anyone's curious. Again just my 2 cents but you guys should give it a shot, just to see if that kicks it back in.
flashed a lot of roms, wm6 original too. nothing, forever the same...
dry joints?
Hi Michy,
Sorry to hear about your problem, I'm not sure that your camera problems are from rom faults as my camera is fine on 2.04. the camera on our units only connect to the mother board via a pressed together joints. This could be what is wrong. Are you brave enough to take your unit to bits? its actualy quite easy if you follow the service manual and have the correct tools, then just whipe the contacts to the camera and board clean with a cotton bud. I had the same fault on another HTC unit and this worked. however it may not though!
Regards
Jay
strange...
when I have the time i'll open it...
but...I noticed that the camera flash works, I think if is this camera's flash do not works...
mah!
WM 6.1 has a policy setting you can use to disable camera among others. You are sure you haven't set this "deny camera" policy?
Probably not as this would be reset when you install a new rom.....
hehe, if my rom have camera disabled, other users could have my problem too
Mine also have this problem....
Anyone can solve this problem??????

Hi responderman,
I have dismantled my Dopod u1000 (athena x7500) to bits a few times. I am having camera problems. But i noticed that the camera is connected to the flash and appears to be soldered onto the main board. I tried wiping the back portion of the camera believing it to be where the cmos sensor is located but did not notice any feedbacks on my lcd screen showing that my wiping action is affecting the camera in anyway. As for removing the camera and cleaning the connections i haven't tried that because as i said, it appears to be connected to the flash and the flash appears to be soldered onto the main board.
Any ideas or info? Thanks!
I also have my camera broken, only after a month I bought it, it started showing some green effect though it barely showed the image, even after hard reset, ROM change there was no change, recently my device fell from a table, and since that I have the same screen as Michy's, most of the time Camera doesn't initialize.
I believe it is camera hardware that is broken.
well i think that too. for that i'm not trying to restore it anymore. if anyone got it to work, plz share

Have to say mine is Similar GPS just worked, Wifi is decent for what it is, work all around my house without losing connection, Haven't tried BT yet, Drove all over Detroit with mine with Wiggle Wifi up for a Class project, and it never skipped a beat, GPS locked within a minutes of launching program.
Dad bought one about a Week before me, GPS does not work, Haven't checked S/Ns yet but his is also updated to ICS where mine is not, I decided to stay back on Honeycomb for a bit
My 32gb wasnt working earlier. I tried again inside my house and got 7 satellites in a few seconds.
Do u need internet connection to use maps because it wont open without it?
I just figured if u had GPS that's all u needed.
Seeing as the Thrive has no 3g connection you will need a wifi connection to get MAPs in Google maps as there downloaded from the server as needed, there sued to be a way to D/L them before hand though i don't know if it exists anymore

Maps pulls all of its data from Google servers, in particular initially (it'll cache some data afterwards), and so you do need an Internet connection when you first start it up. And, it'll use wifi-based location services to locate you on the map, so it's not a good test of whether GPS is working.
Very weak signal compared to other devices, and this has come up a million times, yes it works. Yes it has a very weak signal.
Keeps getting better every time I use it. Why do screen shots look so bad? Is there a setting for them? I guess there is a setting but it doesnt look much better. If I used the rooted screenshot app it would look better.

Because yours work, does that mean the many people who have problems with GPS connection do not know what they are talking about? Congratulations on getting a Prime with no issues. Who says GPS does not work? I say mine does not. Not at all. Not one satellite and don't get me started on the weak a$$ wifi. BTW, how far from your router can you go for a strong wifi connection with your Prime compared to your other wifi devices?
Weak! Im guessing this is your first device with GPS. My prime performs like yours and I rather use the GPS over BT in a combo with my Atrix. I will no longer need GPS on the prime once the note hits the streets.

[Q] Problem with internal microphone

Hi guys,
I'm having serious trouble with my Droid RAZR lately (started like 2 weeks ago).
People have a hard time hearing my while in a phone call, I basically got to yell in the phone for them to hear me
Interesting piece of trivia, as I'm doing some test atm : When I call someone I can hear myself very clearly in my own speaker while it's very very low on the other phone.
So i guess the microphone is working properly from a "mechanical" point of view. I've tried a Skype call, seems ok to me so I guess it's a "software" problem
Does anyone ever encounter this problem ?
Few more technical info, phone is ROOTED Droid RAZR XT910 (GSM, bought in France):
Android 2.3.6
System version : 651.167.22XT910.retail.en.FR (Stock ROM)
Kernel : 2.6.35.7-g24431a2
Build : 6.5.1-167_SPU-15-M2-1-FR
Thank you for your time and help guys.
Cheers,
Boris.

Hi, have you ever tried a new Rom? What you did so far to fix this issue? Did you a factory reset? Let me know. Since its working fine on skype this really seems to be a software related issue.
Cheers

I haven't done anything yet other that looking for a solution on the Internet and trying to find out if it's a mechanical or software problem.
The microphone holes are in front and back on the RAZR, so I try removing my protective case (which blocks the hole on the back of the phone) but it's the same. The holes are clean btw, no dust or anything inside from what I can tell.
I'll probably back everything up and try a factory reset if no one has encounter this problem before (I thought I would wait for XDA guy's opinion first).
I had the same issue on mine. Just flash the correct Baseband or Firmware for your Region and you'll be fine.
Gesendet von meinem XT910 mit Tapatalk 2
So factory reset right ?
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using XDA
Factory Reset won't change your Baseband. You can try to reset, but the problem would still be the same.
I've flashed another Rom to solve that. To be sure your mic is definitely not defect, try an voice recorder an listen your record
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.fun2code.android.voicerecord
In this Thread, you find 2 Fastboot Files. First I've posted got Baseband 93, the second 91.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26893183
Flash that Fastboot, that has NOT your actual Baseband with RSD.
You also can try to flash only the Radio.img over Fastboot. There's an nice Thread in Dev section about this.

Thx you guys for your replies.
I have some searching/learning to do on how to flash and do all this... or I'll probably end up bricking the thing ^^. Plus I've read somewhere that SafeStrap is only for CDMA version and I got it installed with the rooting process so it's kind of a mess right now.
So I'll set everything straight, get all software needed (RSD etc..) and try to flash a fastboot. I got Baseband version 93P so I'll probably try the one you provided on the thread you linked HSD-Pilot, thx man.
I'll let you know what happens .
Oh and I've tried the voice recorder and it kinda works, only I got to yell in the damn phone for the VU-Meter to move. So it's just like while calling someone.
OK so I just tried flashing a fastboot file, this one:
Code:
SPDREM_U_01.6.5.1-167_SPU-15-M2-3_SIGNEuropeAustraliaEMEA_USASPDRRTGB_HWp2b_Service1FF_fastboot.xml.zip
I know it's the same baseband (93P) but I wanted to try with the latest version I could find.
No surprise, it didn't change anything.
I'm downloading the fastboot with baseband version 91P (the one provided by HSD Pilot), I'll try flashing this tonight see want it does.
Related question : Is this normal that the fastboot flash didn't remove all my application and all my stuff ? I thought it was a way to get the phone back what it was out of the shop ?
It's no Full Flash Rom, so it won't touch your internal SD.
Gesendet von meinem XT910 mit Tapatalk 2
I just did a flash with the file you provide HSD-Pilot (91P Baseband) and it's the same.
I hear myself in my own phone (very clearly, again... so the internal mic is working pretty well) but the guy on the other side won't hear me if I don't yell in the phone...
I think I'll put in back full stock and return it to the store... don't know what else to do.
Here is some kind pf proof that the microphone works :

It's a screenshot from an app that is suppose to find out own much noise the mic is picking up, you can see the min (36 dB) and max value (101 dB) is when I blow air with my mouth where the mic hole is located on the phone.
Im experience similar problem. When I answer with my left ear pepole having hard time hearing me, then I just change ear and they can hear me perfect. Even if I change back to my left ear.
Very annoying!
Anyone else having this problem?

One possibility:
Finally decided to take it back to the shop.
SO I'm getting it back to stock and just "bricked it". I'm having a cdt.bin_signed" -> Phone return FAIL in RSD Lite.

Makes me think, it might have to do with the proximity sensor that cuts off the screen when you cover it. Switching from left to right ears "uncovers" it, the screen turn back on, something to do with the microphone might get altered at the same time and BAM it works fine with your right ear...
Yeah no I'm crazy...
Got out of trouble thanks to this http://sbf.droid-developers.org/
So big thanks to Skrilax_CZ for all those fastboot file !

[Q] BST Dongle for Samsung and most Android devices

Hi,
Some of you might remember me asking in the forum to solve the IMEI problem on a Galaxy S3 NOT REGISTERED ON NETWORK.
I was not able to solve the problem even though I tired the impossible.
I came across a YouTube video repairing IMEI using a software and a piece of software and I was very impressed what this tool can do!!
So, I decided to buy it which had cost me 100$, but even though if it didn't help me solve my problem, I will most certainly need it in the future for ton of things.
It's called BST Dongle.
Now, I saw some videos on YouTube but I can’t see how do you connect the UART r523k
I have that cable and I connect it to that piece of hardware which has 4 ports.
1 port service cable and 1 port USB OUT (I put the UART R523K there and I connected the other end to my phone)
1 port USB IN 1 PORT USB OUT, What do I put there?!!
Please I need help.

Yes I did.
I ended up buying the software and hardware for 100$ or something. I figured out that me and my family we all use the Samsung phones, so in the future I can fix almost any problem and that tool supports Samsung and HTC, so I took it as an investment
I was able to fix the IMEI thing in less then a minute.

It's very simple. If you want I can fix ur phone using the kit remotely using teamviewer or something. If you agree, send me in a PM ur email address and we will talk. But there's one thing is missing in that kit and it's the USB A-B cable which you have to buy (it's very cheap).
It's the same cable used for the printer, so maybe you can borrow it from there!

Thank you. Already have that cable (like you said, from the printer). But, my computer is not recognizing the phone via BST. I insert the UART 523 cables into the box/microUSB into the phone, and then the printer cable into the computer.
I hear a beep, but when the software asks me to "connect to device", the dialog box pops open, and then I select a com-port, which always ends up with an error message.
Also, on BST website, they state not the Android 4.4.2 requires some soldering of the box to work.
Are you familiar with this?

I'm not familiar with that at all and never knew that there're things that must be fixed with a solder! I hope this is not ur case.
Well, there is a driver called PL2303_Prolific_DriverInstaller_v1.8.0, you will find it in the drivers folder where you installed BST.
It looks like this:
Put ur phone a side for now, close the BST software and open it again, hook the usb side of the A-B Cable to ur computer and the other side to the UART and run that driver. then it will be able to recognize ur phone. It also should have a blue light on it if I recall.
U should make sure you have the latest version of BST which is : BST_V3.18.00_Setup
I hope this helps.
Did it work? does it recognize ur phone now?
nope
i have tried everything im unsure what to do. i have tried 2 different phones and i am still stuck. not sure what else i can do here.
any help
please any help for this problem
It only works of Windows 7 BTW,it will not work with 10,all the videos I have seen is on Windows 7.Just in case anyone is looking for why it might be not working on Windows 10.

Bought this phone quite recently and to my surprise it has sensors that don't work at all.Now after doing some research I've found out that it could be various problems, but I decided to buy a COMPLETLY NEW PROXIMITY SENSOR off internet. So after I replacing it I haven't achieved anything. This is the picture that I get when i enter *#0*# code and go into sensors.

Please note that these same values (alltitude stuck at 44000m and etc) were present before and after replacing sensor with new one. Also these values are not moving at all like they should.
So my question is what the hell could this be because I've done some googling and noone really had this kind of problem. What could it be?Something to do with motherboard, software problem or something else.
My earpiece speaker is working, and it is all connecte together (sensor, earpiece its all one part , below is picture of it).If it was indeeed non-working part then probably earpiece speaker wouldn't work either.
Please help if you have any info on this matter
Thanks

My advice is if you replaced it with a brand new one and its still not working it is a software issue. Try and flash stock firmware see if that fixes it.
Funny thing is that today I did that.Went to sammobile website, found stock firmware for my country and flashed it on phone.Everything went okay and process was successful. However readings of those sensor values are still stuck and not moving.
I don't know what else to say.I mean come on, how could this be and how in the world was someone able to screw this much that changing with brand new sensor doesn't help.
Some of ideas that I have that could potentially explain why it is not working are: maybe flex cable is not completely operating that is somehow does not clip all the way and thus not enabling it to work properly. However, it is probably highly unlikely since earpiece speaker is working.
Maybe two holes for sensors are blocking sensors but then again I checked them while I was disassembling phone.
I was seeing people fixing sensor problems with fiddling with some sensor files in system directory, and by adding or modifying certain files in there it resolved their issues.
There must be some solution.Only if I knew how it got malfunctioning in the first place I would knew where to look.
Any suggestiong are very welcomed...
Okay so today I flashed XtreStoLite ROM on my phone hoping that maybe I will fix this problem. However, it hasn't improved it.My last option will be to flash different kernel on my phone. And that will be pretty much it cause I dont know what else to do since you know I mean what else is there really to be done anymore. But I'm really curious who managed to f*ck sensor this much that, how in the world are ppl capable of that.
Anyway, will keep this updating with new news just in case anyone manages to get same problem or something similar so if I somehow am able to get it working again , I'm gonna say what it is.
Cheers

I would reccomend trying arter97 kernel. Its a very good stable kernel.
Hi, I begin to have this exact problem a couple of days ago. Have you solved it?. I've tried everyting related to software and ROM's (not custom ones, and everything without being root) but nothing changes. I would appreciate any help. Thanks.
