A problem with battery - Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet

When I used NT unrooted, it's still battery level while unused 3-4 days, but when I root it with Indirect method and install some apps, the battery remain 60% after 2 days unused :|, I've tried some "kill process" app but it's seem didn't work . Any suggestion? Sorry because I'm newbie

Im afraid one or some apps waste your most of power
you should check it one by one yourself
once time, I got a theme of go launcher from market
but I found power droped 20%-30% per hour(just unused)
when I uninstalled it , it came back to normal

I've got a question about strange battery behavior.
This is my battery use graphic

There is no mistake, charge level raises when my NT's screen is switched off, is it a normal behavior for NT, or just an app glitch?
Can it be somehow connected with that after I plugged my NT into PC via generic microUSB cable charge level jumped from ~80% to 100% in a minute?

Most batteries will recover a portion of their apparent charge if given the opportunity to relax. {Electrons are able to move from deeper within the battery media and gather near the surface.} (There may be an algorithm issue as well, not sure.)

Thanks for the answer, but it still seems strange, I am used to self-discharging batteries, not to the opposite. Also I didn't see something like this happening with Nook Color or mobile phones.

I did have the same with Nook Color, but I still have no idea why it happens and what the consequences are.

I would try to see which app is keeping the tablet "awake" when the screen is off.
(I know you don't have CM7 installed, but if you ever do...there is a utility in CM7 spare parts in battery history that lists apps by Partial awake usage that I check to see whats keeping it awake.)

FYI, Spare Parts can be downloaded from the market. It's not special to CM.

Sudden heavy battery usage, any ideas?

I flashed an aosp ROM which was very unstable and so went back to the Sensation ROM I was using prior to the aosp ROM and all has been well since apart from a sudden drop in battery roughly 3 hours after flashing. I've attached a screen cap. of the battery usage screen shortly after it occurred, should it help anyone identify the problem.

Thanks.
I had the same problem just yesterday, it's due to the fact that when you're flashing your ROMS your battery got miscalibrated. It's a simple thing to fix just follow the instructions from this app on the Play Store (New Market for those of you without the update).
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nema.batterycalibration
Did you reboot the phone in this 3 hours? Coz I see this big step, which is happening when you reboot in recovery or flash something. You need to charge you phone and calibrate you battery

I rebooted after I'd configure the launcher as it was before I tried the aosp rom, but didn't enter recovery or flash anything.
I'll configure the battery and hope it doesn't happen, just wondering if anyone has an idea what caused it?
The exact thing happened to me. When you flashed your phone at a certain battery percentage (lets say 50%) Your new ROM assumes that 50% is the maximum capacity. Therefore, when you rebooted your phone it simply corrected the misreading. Calibrating your battery from the app I provided in my earlier post will delete the batter stats file in your phone and create a new one. Remember to use it when your battery is at 100%, then take your battery down to 0% and charge it back up to 100. I'm currently doing that process now after my phone jumped from 50% down to 20% after I rebooted yesterday.

It`s happening some times, you are not first and not last. Just calibrate you battery and will be fine. Good luck
Ok so I've downloaded the battery calibration app and currently charging my device however the app is displaying the same battery level as my phone.
Does this render the battery calibration a waste of time or is it to be expected?

i thought a manual battery calibration on a i9100 is a waste of time . They didnt calculate it like HTC does. Somebody explained me that this mobile got another System for that but i just forgot what for...
Mine always does this when flashing and shows the sudden drop in battery. Once you charge it back up it should be fine again I'm sure. It always is for me

Yep. You are 100% correct
Calibration apps do absolutely nothing except make you a few bucks poorer if you pay for them :-|
The best thing you can do is charge to 100%, pull the battery for a minute, and put it back in.
Also Ex Tweaks is capable of resetting the fuel gauge chip in genuine Samsung batteries should you be experiencing fuel alerted wakelocks on CM9 or similar.

[Q] Overheating & Phone Stuff!

Gday again guys,
Yesterday, my Nook Overheated and turned off when i picked it up, it was roasting hot and i could barely touch it. I charged it in the morning but when i went to use it at lunch time, it was mega hot and had 8% Battery Left (from a full charge).
Has anyone else had this problem, because i cant imagine it being good for my Nook.
The other question i have, is it possible for us to disable the Phone/Cell roaming & data functions on CM7. I dont see it having much point there, and its only using battery life?
Cheers guys! Steve

thats definitely not normal, i would advise towards going to a b&n store, explain your problem and get a replacement. sounds like a hardware issue rather than software. of course erase everything and revert back to stock before you go to a b&n store.
Sounds like the battery has an internal short. Return

Its never happened before just the other day, my problem is that i dont live anywhere near America! so i can just 'return it'. I am currently working in Egypt, and i live in England which makes things mega hard.
Is there any chance it could just be a one off?
Really?????

Since the standard voltage in Egypt is 220v, are you plugging into that? I'd be suprised if the charger is rated for that.

Stock charger is 100V - 240V, 50Hz/60Hz
One obvious question: Do you have a cover or case for your nook? Some aren't properly vented and can cause overheating.
Yeah dude I have a cover but I don't think that effects it at all. This has only happened once. I think a program malfunctioned and used up loads of CPU which overheated it. Do you guys use any task managers to monitor what's using your CPU/memory.

[Q] Weird Unknown Problem

Hi guys,
I badly need some helping hand on my device. Here is the scenario.
Im currently on Omega LS8 version with its default PHilz kernel when a weird thing happened on my SGS2.
After installing muzy (instagram like software) the phone begins to lose its power with 50% charge left. LCD flickers and suddenly blackout. I thought it was just deadbatt so I recharged back again my phone. After gaining 80% I turned on the phone and keeps on bootlooping. What I did is restore my backup. To my surprise it also keeps on bootlooping. What I did is change and clean the kernel and do fresh installation. It did boot and I think its ok now. I clean kernel again and change to Siyah 6.5. I tried restoring my backup it did restored, but after sometime the LCD flicker again and blackout again even on 90% charge, so I charged it again to 100%. After booting up it looks fine but when I restarted the phone on 90% charge when it rebooted it suddenly drops to 1% batt charge. I charged it again to 100% now with the phone on. After reaching 100% I observed the phone and use it normally, after using it for some hours, playing, viewing surfing. The battery drops at the normal rate without that sudden blackout. I cant seem to figure out what is going on.
My assumption is that maybe my battery is already damage that cause the sudden blackout, but if it does why during my observation it doesnt blackout and drops normally as before. What am I missing here is there someone who experienced the same? I doubt its ROM or Kernel related.???
Thanks in advance
Post your battery details, maybe fuel gauge went crazy.
Start thinking about getting a new battery tho.

Here is the screenshot. See the cut in the right side that is the sudden blackout. Would that be already a sign o damage battery?

Did you try to recalibrate your battery? Charge it to 100%, unplug, pull your battery, put it in again and charge it to 100% again.
You probably did this already, but you didn't mention it. If that doesn't help, then my guess is that you need a new battery.
Ya sorry I forgot to mention that but I did recalibrate it so many times. Then I guess this is faulty battery. Any same issue are welcome. Thanks

please install bbs and upload the log
Logcat might be handy as well.
Ok attached is the logcat guys. Hope someone can interpret it

Probably so. Try to use a different battery for a full day and see if this issue stops. Make sure that your battery is authentic Samsung made, and that it isn't swollen or damaged.

It looks to me like your battery needs proper calibration, or maybe the battery stats file was not wipe off, and try using another battery as it may be the battery itself giving problems~

[Q] Brightness control at 5% battey level

At 5% or lower, the screen is forced to go dim and I loose the ability to set brightness. Both in settings and by pulling down notif. bar. Is there any way to turn off this force-to-go-dim?

Forced dim for battery level below 5% is normal. If it automatically dims when it is over 5% battery then that's a bug. I never experienced the dim bug.
You really shouldn't let your battery get that low anyway, lithium batteries don't like being discharged that much.

Sometimes I can't help it but I'm using third party battery so I'm not too bothered. I got them for less than £5 for 3500 mah, been using them since I got my Mega (over 5 weeks now) and never had problems.
The advice I gave is valid but with batteries so cheap these days I'm not sure it matters any more.
Do you find your 3500mAh batteries actually last longer or about the same?

Can't tell as I've never used the battery that came in the box. I'm keeping all accessories pristine for selling it on. Anyway, I get over 24 hours for light use and 10 hours with heavy use on the third party battery.
Cheers, that sounds much the same as I'm getting.

I can see the caution of using lithum battery. But at the times when I am out of immediate reach of a charger and a replacement battery, and I need an extra minute to finish an email or text, it becomes counter productive.

[Q] Crazy battery drain

Are others having this? i mean i go through a full battery about twice a day.... I cant figure out what is draining it so bad. i have used WLD, greenify, and bootmanager to try to figure it out..... None of my apps are ever on the battery list, and screen is around 50% usually with android system and android OS always being up the list. I always thought it was my bad signal strength at work but i had two weeks off and my phone NEVER lasted even close to a day.
I have factory reset once but loaded my same apps backup.
I heard someone else mention that the sprint has this weird battery drain that is explainable and was wondering if others see that also.
I am on the search for a 6000+ mah battery i know it will have a replacement back plate but i don't want the whole case thing like the 9000 zero lemon.
Sounds like kernel wakelock
As of the last two days i have also been experiencing much faster battery drain. Have had the phone since launch and never had this problem.
I do not use the device in excess. Very few if any phone calls per day, some texting and gmail, occasional skim of xda, huffpo, phandroid apps and very light Twitter use if bored and not near the computer.
Battery has dipped 5% since writing this post...that's all of 1-2 minutes in use.
Sent from my LGLS990 using XDA Free mobile app
That's not normal for a Sprint LG G3. A couple of questions:
Have you looked at the battery stats page to see what app(s) are using the most battery? I'd suggest taking a screen shot of that page and posting it here.
Have you tried rebooting the phone? If there's an app or process running out of control that will often clear it up.
Are you rooted? If so, install better battery stats so we can get a better look at what's eating the battery.
Finally, you might want to take a look at this thread: http://forums.androidcentral.com/sa...android-system-eating-your-battery-check.html
While it's unlikely you have the same problem I did, the tools and techniques I used to debug it might be useful for you.
Gonna wait for some custom roms to see if the problem just goes away.

Dude the battery app should show you what is causing it. Something has gone rouge!!! I just had my weather app running in the background using GPS for 5 hours, yeah my battery went way down. Freeze some BS apps. I routinely get 30 hrs plus on a single charge. Not the phone itself something you are using is causingi it.
As requested, my craptastic battery info. Brightness was 83.
