I have insurance, will this be covered?

Yes, for $100 deductible.

That's dumb. Any other solutions?

The only other way is to pay for another one out of pocket or an out of pocket repair.
That's it. Remember, that's not manufacturing defect.

pay the deductible and get a new phone

Why is that dumb? That's the point of insurance, you pay the deductible to avoid paying 600 bucks for a brand new phone off contract.
The only other solution is to buy a digitizer and lcd off ebay and try to install it yourself. I wouldn't recommend it as you will probably spend close to 100 bucks anyway and nothing is guaranteed to work properly.

I personally would rather pay any amount of many than be given a refurb.
If I buy a new car that fails within a week, I wouldn't expect the dealer to replace it with a used car. May not be a perfect analogy but no way I'm paying almost $100/year, to then have to pay a deductible only to be mailed(slow) a refurb. Insurance is a scam.

I agree 100% with this and actually argued that very point with sprint one time and was able to get my account/contract reset so that I could purchase a new phone at the discounted new contract price. Took about 6 hours over 2 days on the phone with them. But worth the time to avoid the refurbished phone, deductible, etc. Of course I didn't drop it, but still.

most refurbished phones are better than they were to begin with everyone i have ever got was perfect

When i had my og evo I broke the screen in feb of 2011 and they replaced it for free. I broke it again in aug 2011 and they said i ad to pay the deductible. That's how I got my 3d.

If you buy a new phone that fails within 30 days, they give you a brand new replacement. After 30 days, your device is considered used.
And that doesn't even really apply to this case anyway, it wasn't a defect, the user dropped it.

your careless with your phone, and think Sprint should give you a free one? How about this, I buy your computer monitor from you, smash it against a wall, then demand you give me another one for free.

Order replacement glass on eBay for like $20 and fix it yourself. It's not hard at all, just make sure you use the proper tools, caution, some in depth research, and very descriptive tutorial (preferably a video with a step by step text description). Just look around Google, YouTube, RootzWiki, and XDA for more information. If you have any problems finding anything, feel free to PM me and I'll help out as best as I can. Maybe I'll write up a walkthrough for XDA when I have the time.

When did it get changed to 14 days? It was 30 days last year as far as I can remember. Damn Sprint....

Excuse me for thinking that if I buy "total equipment protection" (as they call it) I should be able to walk in and have it fixed. I guess I misunderstood the "total protection" part. This is my 3rd shooter (first 2 were defective) and I really just want a different phone.

Lol how did your break the glass? Did you play hockey with it Sorry...
That sucks man I have never broken the glass on my phone... Sometimes sprint may fix it or a 3rd party store like a sprint store not the main one like the one you went too... Some of the smaller stores may fix it for you.. Just gotta check around... I know some places replace the glass for 50 bucks lol beats 100 for a refurbished unit...
Doesn't cost too much if you know what your doing you can fix it your self... Tho if you have warranty on it I wouldn't pull it apart due to voiding your warranty...

Here is a link from the General section sticky thread. Instructions on how to replace the screen. Hit thanks if I helped.

That wasn't dumb, it was a correct answer. That's what u have to pay insurance for a broken phone. I can't see the pic but if its just the screen, my buddy got a screen replacement at a Sprint repair store for 50 bucks. And good luck with ascurion. Their reps are pathetic and rude

My 3D was stolen at work about 3 weeks ago. Filed an insurance claim with Sprint around 6PM the same day, woke up the next morning around noon (lol morning) and the FedEx guy was there with my phone. It was brand new in the box, not a refurb.
So,
1) Slow shipping? Took 18 hours from order to delivery
2) Refurb? This phone is still pretty new and wasn't an awesome seller, so there aren't a ton of refurbs in the warehouse, they normally just send out new phones
3) Always remember to keep your 3G data turned on, even if there is no connection, no telling when some asshole will walk by and yoink it.
Hope this helps everybody!

No need, this phone comes with a whole row of blue teeth, but they will come in an optional firmware update that turns one of your cameras into an x-ray camera.

F THAT! My wife has a friend who just happens to work for Sprint. she got her hands on the phone, her own, today! I played with it. the 24th can not come soon enough.
say what you want I have no pics to prove it but I wasn't going to spend my 5 minutes with it taking pictures. I wanted hands on time. personally 3D isn't bad I think people are expecting too much, more than anything. 3d Photo's are awesome. and the 1.2 dual core, and 1GB Ram. what is waiting? hands down butter smooth and fast. So responsive the phone moves as fast as you do at times, and you end up in places you aren't aiming for. I'll take that ANY day!
Ah I'm in love. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!! If you really take the 3D as an added feature, and take in everything in minus 3D it's everything you dreamed of. My wife wasn't as impressed 3D, but she also admitted she expected the 3D to be more "movie like". whatever. she thought everything else about it was great and she owns the shift.
Also I think sense 3.0 is sweet. granted I'm coming from a samsung moment so ANYTHING other than samsungs crap is better in my eyes, but think the lock screen features are great.
Not a review Just sayin' there is NO WAY I'm waiting a month.
alright now I need to get rid of my hard on.
And she's yelling at me for telling people about playing with her phone before she left the house. apparently I need to say bye and thank you.
Maybe they've been reading the reviews....

I've never experienced an issue using Craigslist as a marketplace. I prefer it over anything else actually since you get to meet the buyer/seller face to face and since it's local, there's no issues with shipping charges/scams.

The title of your thread was "how much should I ask for on Craigslist..." so he helped you out with that. You don't need to know the "sold" price in order to know how much you should ask. No need to turn this thread into a war zone.
It looks like the asking prices are between 375 and 525 in your area. So the answer to your first question would be somewhere between those two numbers. The answer to your second question is likely going to be at most 375 (at least while people are selling the phone for that much). Deductive reasoning, while not perfect, can provide all the info you need.
Not sure if this helps but I got $250 for my Samsung epic just a few days ago.
I sold a EVO 3d on eBay for 630 after fees.. and said I'd ship it when I got it (23rd)
Tried to sell my other two on xda and Craigslist to avoid 40-60dollars in fees and couldn't get more than 400 for them that was about a week ago.. so I'd say post for 450 and watch the low ball offers come in

Probably one of those Nigerian scammers
You would be surprised to hear amount and volume of phones sold on CL.
I bought 3 BB fron a guy for 150 each and at the time, I needed 10 more. He was willing to split them for 90-100 each, if I bought all 10 together.
Also toldmr story of a guy who was selling him G2 (top of the line phone at the time) for like 100 bucks, and this dude would sell it for 450 bucks in turn. I am sure that G2 were stolen and haxored.
If you be careful and discrete in CL, it is not a bad place to get stuff.
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA Premium App
Perfect condition, I would ask $475 but be prepared to sell it for $375-400. Anything more than that and people would probably just buy it new from the store where they have 30 days to return it, full support, etc. At least that has been my experience and what I would be like if I was in the market to buy your phone.
To all the negative Craigslist comments, I've bought several phones over the years and I've never had an issue. But...I fully test the phones out before I give them any money and with the one Sprint phone I bought, I made the person meet me at the store to make sure the phone was clean and could be activated. If you are a smart and informed shopper you don't get screwed nearly as easy. (and, now that I posted this, karma will probably kick me in the ass and the next phone I buy off CL will crumble into it's component pieces as soon as the seller leaves the parking lot. LOL)

It gives the buyer more confidence in the sale that you are not trying to rip them off........

Bestbuy Black Tie Insurance

Ok so I dropped my shooter this morning while getting out of my truck to pump gas. I completely forgot it was on my lap. The screen did not brake but the plastic or metal piece around the screen got dented and pushed up a little bit. It does not effect the phones performance in any way. Would this be covered since its only cosmetic? If so I am worried about having them fix it because I still have hboot 1.4 unlocked and s-off. I do not want them to update anything. All I want it for them to fix what's broken and nothing else. Would they take it upon themselves to update it even if I told them not to. I have used the insurance once before but that was only a couple of days after release date so hboot 1.5 didn't exist yet. My phone jumped out of my pocket while I was up in my tower Crane 240ft up. Yeah there was no saving that phone. The guys at bestbuy said they had never seen anything like it. I was kind of proud of my accomplishment and very glad I had the insurance. It paid for itself the very first week.
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
Having dealt with best buy insurance a number of times. Yes. Its covered. No, they probably won't actually fix it. They will replace it with a refurbished one and it will take a few days to ship it to you. The refurb will likely have H1.50 or even 1.6... I dunno. I read that a couple people got 1.6
:-\
Well that sucks. Maybe I will try to find someone to fix it for me then. I don't want to deal with all the crap that comes with 1.5 or 1.6. Its definitely worth it for me just to pay to have it done. My insurance has already paid for itself anyway.

So I call my local sprint repair store to see how much it would cost to fix my phone. The Guy I talked to told me that they are not set up to fix cosmetic damage. They will only fix it if it effects the performance of the phone. I told him this is not an insurance claim and I am paying out of pocket for the repair. His answer was to take it to a third party to have it fixed. I don't get it, damage is damage. Its not like they are a body shop and need a paint Booth to fix the thing. Well I guess I wont be giving them any of my future business, witch I am sure they could care less about.

I thought the whole selling point behind the Black Tie insurance policy was to replace the phone in store with a new or upgraded model and not a refurb/used one if they cannot fix it. Asurion will either send out a new or refurb one after you pay the deductible.
No the selling point is you don't fork out 100$ if u break it however it can take weeks before u get it back

sprint does not REPAIR cosmetic damage, hence the analogy. a body shop is a repair shop, but theyre not going to fix a blown engine. a mechanic is a repair shop, but theyre not going to pound out dents for you. you have a cosmetic issue, sprint repairs functional issues. therefore, youre barking up the wrong tree.

I canceled my pre-order with Sprint, and my Evo still came in the mail today

So my Evo came in the mail today, after I canceled my order after hearing they were being held by customs. Sprint canceled my line, and is processing my refund, they said it should take around 6 days, which is 3 days from now. They must've just sent out all of the packaged Evos. Either way, I don't have a contract with Sprint, and I'm playing with the new Evo here! Anyone on the same boat as me?

When I canceled my Sprint order *slaps head* and went with Amazon instead, Sprint told me that in all likelihood they'll probably still ship me my phone. Wish they actually did this to me. I must have canceled it far enough out where they didn't.
I probably would have kept the phone and paid full price if they did.
So are you going to keep the Evo?

The exact same thing happened to me, and I am staring at this thing knowing it's too good to be true... I tried to find out where sprint covers this scenario in their terms and conditions but couldn't find anything. Also I didn't see any preorder cancellation policy. I'd assume they will find out.
I canceled my order just before the customs fiasco began, same day just a couple hours before the news got out. The girl who helped me said I needed to hold while she verifies the phone hasn't shipped, and she came back saying everything is done my order is canceled.
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk 2
This is the reason that they stopped canceling preorders. Their system is messed up, and even if the order was canceled, the phone would ship. I'd say hold on to it for a while, see what happens

This is exactly what would seem to make sense, but it takes into assumption that they have the right to enforce it. Frankly, Sprint "should" have this right. But that has to be in writing for them to act, no? They must have authorization to withdraw funds from your account to initiate any charge. Without your express consent, they would need to prove that you agreed to terms that allow them to make further charges in given circumstances... i.e. unexpected circumstances causing errors regarding canceled preorders. Terms that hold me responsible, even if the error is neither Sprint's nor my own fault.
I'm not saying that I think this means is clearly have the right to keep the phone and Sprint is screwed because this is a unprecedented issue affecting a very narrow field of customers... and I'm prob gonna have to send it back. I'm saying that I'm trying to do my homework because I know they have to be able to back up taking action regardless if it's their fault or not that I still received it.
And so far, I haven't seen any clauses that this falls into... notice I said "so far" because this "should" be covered somewhere. I wish I knew someone who worked for sprint, like a cs manager or something who would know how this honestly works.
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk 2
The honest thing to do would be to just call Sprint and ask them what they would like you to do with it. I would've refused the delivery from UPS in the first place...Okay I lie, so I would've probably opened it too.

They most likely won't change your card but they can and will bill you for it and when you don't pay they can and will send it to a collection agent dinging your credit.

Agreed. I just saw a news story where 69k was deposited accidentally into some guys account. He spent most of the money and is now in for some serious felony charges. I'm not trying to be a Debbie downer or a sober Salley. But if you try to get away with this without 700 dollars in your account... I wish you the best of luck.
Sprint will just send your info to a collections company. Happend to me when I got a replacement razr with rogers. They sent me the replacement phone and didnt give me return instructions to send the borked phone back. Tried calling them about it and they told me, ''the matter has been forwarded to collections.''

Free replacement to the HTC one

I work for a sprint repair center and we noticed the other day that people coming in with issues with their phone and needed replacements that we had the option to give them an HTC one!! We thought at first it was because the evo lte was on backorder but it's not. It gives us the option of either or. So hey if any of you guys want to take advantage of this free upgrade with insurance then get your Ass to a repair center!!
Edit: btw this does not effect your upgrade or contract it acts as a simple swap

Dang, I missed the boat on this. Sprint told me if I paid the $50 deductible, they'd give me a replacement. I did a free replacement through BB black tie instead hoping to get a voucher. Got a refurb instead.

As long as there is no physical or water damage to your device you can get it for $50. But act quick because I believe that will be going up for all non-insurance replacements on the 8th to $75

What if there is physical damage? I have a hairline crack on my screen...mind you I have a Seidio Convert Rugged case (sat at an odd angle and somehow did the impossible)
Would I be able to do the same?

Is this threw asurion? If it is, isn't the deductible $150 because it's a "premium" device? Still $150 for a HTC One is pretty damn good.
Edit: 8th hour at work, reading comprehension at low levels. Lol.
Gonna go to the main store in my town since they have a repair center, after a "failed" hboot update

I may be SOL then. The crack I have is a single line from the back button to just about an half inch above the recent apps button. Who knows though? I've always believed a sturdy case would protect me (had the same case for my OG EVO and that was flawless), but I guess not. I could call in and try tmrw morning. I have TEP insurance.
I'm waiting for a replacement right now. They said my EVO will be here Friday. No talk of the one or of being on back order.

Correct. They did not mention the one. Not to bash og post but it may just be in your area. They were taking evo phones for trade left and right when the one came out. I'm sure refurbs are in supply.

Might've been limited to certain areas. Ugh. Did you ask? I remember having to do the same with my gf's Thunderbolt. Was so butt of a phone that Verizon (or at least Asurion) eventually upgraded it to a Rezound. After I asked though.
