[Q] Hboot question - HTC EVO 3D

Hey there,
i have a question about hboot on my Evo 3D. My version was 1.49.0007 and now after softwareupgrade it is 1.49.0018. Can i do it undo without the tutorial of http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1471246 ? I will root my phone and then do custom rom(s) on my phone.
Thanks, hope you can understand me. Sorry for my bad english i come from germany.

I don't have a GSM Evo 3D, so haven't kept up to date with any of their hboot stuff, as they're different versions than CDMA. However, I just read through the tutorial in the link you posted. I read the first and second post, and the second post has another tutorial on how to do it, that looks like it was updated today. After reading through them, it does appear as though it should work for you. I would just follow every step extremely closely and be 100% sure of what you're doing. It kind of looks fun, good luck!

It is much easier to help him with his problems than claiming that he isn't reading. But next time you could post in the right section (Q&A).
You enable usb debugging mode in applications development.
Then you start revolutionary tool. For that take a look at revolutionary.io
With this tool you get soff and cwm as a recovery installed.
On this page you get an explanation about this tool, how it works.
Root is also available on this page
I hope I could have helped you

sorry for my english but I'm french,
I just think he have search, but there is no clear explication, you must search on 2 or 3 thread to have somme info and try to understand, thats not very easy.
But thanks to mana88 for your help, with that I think he have all what he need.
To be honest, I have the same problem (but I have search) and now I know what to do. we just need to go to revolutionary.io, the other tread are not necessary.

Im a noob too, but i got s-off and my phone rooted by reading the gsm and dcma thread!
You are in this forum since Oct 2009 and i think thats enough time to accept the forumrules and post in the right section ...
Dont know what D*** H*** means, but i dont think its very nice!
Like a little child who cant read and call somebody D*** H***
Noobs, always read the stickies first. Most of the time u can find the answer. The stickies have a step by step guide there. They are a great start when ur looking for questions.
Don't feel too bad. Everyone on this forum is guilty of posting without fully looking first at one point or another. I have done it multiple times myself.

How to root 1.49.0018?

I am sure that this has been answered a million times before but I am completely lost.
Is there anyway to root a HTC Evo 3D GSM with HBOOT 1.49.0018? Preferably without losing my data

Hi,
the Documentation says that the hboots supported are 1.49.0007 and 1.49.0008, but not the hboot 1.49.0018 ... :-(
Greetings.
Maybe this then? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1495657
Never mind guys, I managed to use MyBackup with the HTCdev.com method.
Thanks for the help, however, I have another question:
Can I use the official CWM on this device (GSM)? I currently use the Revolutionary CWM as I heard that CWM has issues with the device - but I need the official one to use ROM Manager...
What kind of model you choose for an European Evo3d.

New to this phone but not new to android customization

Hi all..I just bought this phone and still in it's box..I had many android phones before and used to root and and flash costume roms regualrily..all I need is a go ahead on how to root and install CWM recovery and the best possible rom in ur opinion cause quite frankly I am lost because of all the threads and tutorials including the version number and all the warnings I read so I am trying to avoid any risk losing this phone since I live in Iraq and it's bad maintainance here and no one knows how to sort things when comes to repair..thanks in advance and really appreciate any help provided.. so happy to get this phone
Usr htcdev to unlock it, flash cwm, then either go s-off and flash your Rom and kernel or stay s-on and flash you ROM, kernel, then fastboot flash the boot.img. Tutorials are in main sections depending on whether you have CDMA or GSM. I personally recommend leedroid or mikrunny.

I can't add the links as I'm on phone but www.htcdev.com has the unlock instructions. As for the rest they are in the forums, try the stickies first. With regards to problems the only ones I would say are the battery life is not particularly stellar on any Rom really, and ics roms don't have functioning camera, but aside from that it is one hell of a good phone with the 3d as a nice bonus .

If you are xdma there is no need to void your warranty with HTC Dec. Look in the cdma Dev section under the stickies and just soff the bad boy. Pretty easy even if you have never run Linux before.

I am lost!!!!alot of talking about frimware and Shooter RUU and stuff...it's complex guys
Shooter, ruu, versions.. your lost?
Hey I would just like to share in part of your confusion and let you know, take it a step at a time! And always READ READ READ , everyone here is very helpful and if you have a question chances are its been answered the only thing is finding the answer hence, "read read read." As for "Shooter" I know HTC phones use code names and Shooter represents our phones the Htc EVO 3d , Supersonic represents Htc EVO 4G, so on and so forth. RUU's I know are the "STOCK" files the completely revert your phone to stock and stand for either "Rom update utility" or something of that nature I am still unsure but Have used before to update my radios through hboot as I am on HBoot 1.5 and wanted the new 2.17 base. As the versions and radios/hboot, software all of the above , on your phone go menu/settings/about phone and read about your versions of software, baseband represents your radio and software info will be something like 2.17.651.5 "build number" is exactly stated in that menu of the phone. Good luck !
EVO 3d
hboot 1.5 s-on htc unlocked
MEANROM v2.9 stock kernel
honeysense theme w/ leedroid tweaks
Thankful..but still!
I can't thank u enough..u and the whole HTC forum family are really helpful and great..so I am going to read about what I'm gonna do..and then ask if I am right or not..first thing I registered in HTCdev site to unlock bootloader but there are minimum choices of countries..so I chose US and hence they asked me to choose my phone but they only give a list of Evo 3D with carriers(Sprint and T-mobile and soon)so I am afraid I may do anything wrong..mine is GSM version and not carrier specific and I live in Iraq..what shoould I do now??

For hboot 1.49.0011 Only!

Hi everyone I MAY BE NOT FIRST ONE! But I haven't seen someone post it anywhere.
For those who have hboot 1.49.0011 and tried to downgrade their hboot to 1.49.0007 or 0008 and tried to update their firmware and it did not work.
Finally after few long days of trying without no luck, now I can tell I did it. I downgradet my hboot from 1.49.0011 to 1.49.0007
If anyone wants to downgrade their hboot from 1.49.0011 ot 0007 let me know.
I do not posting the steps because not sure if it right thread.

Then why post at all of you're not sure?
The idea of development thread is to help out others with anything that has to do with development. Seeing some threads here that explain how to unlock/downgrade or whatever the bootloader...
Although I doubt if anything that you found out would come as an extra tip to the forums. (No offence intended, really.)
Post the steps if I were you, otherwise this thread will be closed very fast.
It's not only that has been mentioned before, it's also unnecessary since there is that new unlocking method from juponutbear

The guide by s superman here on how to downgrade almost every gsm EVO 3d works for hboot 1.49.0011 to downgrade to 1.49.0007
You MUST correctly modify the numbers listed on your base(stock Rom) to LOWER then it is using the hexedit software.
Settings/about phone/software info/more/build info
Mine was 1.22.707.3
Changed to 1.20.707.3 and yes it works.
Tested and confirmed on my previous crappy s-on CID HTC__044 hboot 1.49.0011
If someone sees your thread about the hboot, my post has good usable info.

well, to be quite honest I don't really know why you would want to update your hboot... hboot is different from most software in that sense, the higher the version the more problems you are likely to have with roms and kernels. bottom line, there's no advantage having hboot 1.5x to having 1.49.xxx

Totally agree the lower the hboot the least problems you will have, my phone is hboot 1.49 and people with 1.53 are having issues galore
